Grant Writing Stategies: Show Me The Money!
Recently, the Teachers.Net Gazette featured an article by with Grant
Writing Specialist LaVerne Hamlin. LaVerne is an educator who has
taught in dozens of science courses, a curriculum that offers tremendous
opportunity for engaging students with compelling
demonstrations.
LaVerne Hamlin says, "Teaching students in the current millennium
is extremely different from working with the students I taught in the
early seventies. I have adapted comfortably to changing my teaching
techniques. A teacher is often compared to an entertainer because he or
she must captivate and hold the interest of the audience(students).
"A teacher has to be unique and present material in an enjoyable and
innovative manner. In order to expose students to unique and highly
motivating lessons, a teacher must have the necessary supplies and
equipment to accomplish this objective."
LaVerne's article, Show Me The Money!!!! (Teachers.Net Gazette, March 2008), offers some excellent
methodology for educators seeking to supplement their curriculum with
grants. It's a how-to primer for Grant Writing, and should be read
by every teacher looking to increase their success with grant hunting and
procurement.
