---------------------------------
Teachers generally fall in one or more categories along three axes - their state (or country), their grade level, and their principle subject taught. Today's tip lets teachers lock in their profile on Teachers.Net, and stay connected with teachers in their peer group, and receive personalized content on every page.
Although June is almost gone, today's teacher tip is no small
advantage. On Teachers.Net you'll find a daunting network of over
150 unique channels containing affiliated chatboards, mailrings, lesson
plans, and more. Most teachers will find that three classes of
chatboards remain uniquely important to them over time. These
chatboards include your chatboard for your state, your grade level, and
your principle subject taught.
At Teachers.Net we refer to this group of three "channels" as
your triad, the axes that define your persistent interests. Because
your state, your grade level, and your subject are not likely to change
over time, we've created a method for locking in your triad, for easy
access each time you return.
Teachers.Net Quick Links
Located across Teachers.Net, in the top right column, is a small box
which includes the words "Quick Links." This module or
widget allows users to set their favorite discussion channels, and
quickly access them at any time. To set your Quick Links, click on
the word "Set" and select from the drop down list, your state,
grade level, and principle subject taught.
To change these, click on the word "Reset" and enter your new
preference information.
Preserving Your Privacy
This information is set using an Internet "cookie," which
is a small text note your browser stores and sends to Teachers.Net each
time you access a webpage. This information is never used to
identify you personally or track your actions across a website, and is
never shared with any other websites or organizations. It is simply
used to help access content that is most useful for you.
In the months ahead, we will be introducing some new features on our
webpage, which will include dynamic content relevant to your Quick
Links. You can help us improve our resources and benefit our
teachers by setting your profile, and visiting frequently the links
listed in your Quick Links.
That covers our tip for the 28th day of this special month - thank you
for staying with us and helping us celebrate Summer 2008. We'll
have two more important tips in the remaining days, so stay tuned - and
don't forget, you can always access back tips from the
30 Days of Teachers.Net
webpage.
Until next time...!
