Copy and paste to a post on teacher.net
Can you copy and paste to a post on teacher.net?
Yes, you can type up your response in your word processing program, check for spelling errors, select it, copy it, and then go to a posting window and paste.
You can also copy ideas found on the ChatBoards and paste them into a Word Doc to save for your use.
Creating a hyperlink in ChatBoard Posts
Sometimes when people have posted a response, there is a word or whatever to automatically click on and it takes you to the site. How do you get it there?
Copy the address of the Web page that you want to share. Go to a posting window and paste the address in the "Link URL" box found in the top section of the window. Then type a few words in the "Link Title" box, this creates the text for people to click upon. Be sure to highlight the "http://" that is already in the box and then paste over it so that you don’t have two http://s in your address. You can also type the address, but it’s much easier to copy and paste and there’s less chance of making a typo in the address.
Deleting previous posts when posting a response on a ChatBoard
Another question - I posted a message on the chatboard the other day. I didn't want to repeat the whole thing that I was replying to, but didn't know how to get rid of it and post only my reply. How do I do it?
Just highlight the text by placing your text insertion pointer at the beginning or end of the text that you want to remove, then click, and drag your mouse over the text while holding the mouse button down. Then let go of the mouse button and hit the delete key.
Including a picture in a ChatBoard Post
How do you include graphics in ChatBoard posts?
The images that we post on the ChatBoard aren't really put on the ChatBoard. We just post the address of where the image is located and your computer’s browser links up to that address and makes it look as though it’s right there on the page.
Because of this, we can only use images that are already published on the WWW.
Here's what you do;
-
Find an image that you want to include in your post.
-
(PC Right click) (Mac Click and hold) on the image, a pop-up menu appears.
-
Select "Copy Image Location". Some browsers won't have this, if this is your situation, go to the image's properties and highlight and copy the address from there. Doing this puts the image's address on your clipboard.
-
Go to the ChatBoard, make your post as usual.
-
In the "Image URL" box, highlight the "http://" that is already there.
-
Paste your image's address from your clipboard.

You have to first publish it to the Web. Then follow the directions for Including a picture in a ChatBoard Post.
Keeping track of ChatBoard while in the ChatRoom
When we visit a chatroom is there a way we can get back to the chatboard without logging off and then getting to the board?
Run two Browser windows. In the File menu, open a New Window (browser window) - you can have multiples open at the same time. Then set each one for a page that you want to monitor.
Slow loading Live Chat posts
It's taking a long time for my comments to post. Is this because there are so many people in the chatroom?
Yes, the size of the crowd affects the speed.
