Josey - Hello Four block teachers
Josey - What grade do you teach TT
turboteach - k-4 learning support..I'm brand new to all this, so please bear with me
Josey - I will be teaching first, Don't worry i am new too
turboteach - well, I have 6 years teaching experience, but am new to this site and 4-blocks and trying to see how I can make it work
Josey - How long have you been teaching four blocks?
Linda - I am also new to 4 blocks
Josey - I IMPLEMENTED 4b LAST YEAR
turboteach - I haven't started yet and am trying to figure out how I can implement it with my hectic schedule of kids coming and going all day long
turboteach - what gread?
Josey - I used to to teach Eip here in GA.
turboteach - grade*
Josey - This sounds like learning support
Josey - You have to put in the parts of $B that work for your kids
turboteach - that's what I'm thinking ...
Josey - I used a lot of www act
Linda - I am having to use my basal with 4 blocks and the series has its own high frequency words which I used last year
Josey - particullarly Making words
Josey - I have to use a basal too
turboteach - the fact that it is all mulilevel is wonderful...but like linda just said, my series has its own HF words too
Linda - My TCAP scores were good but should I quit using those to use the MxM words
Josey - But it gives me a good source of multiple copy lit
Josey - What are MxM words?
Linda - the book Month by Month Phonics
Josey - OK
Josey - DUh
Linda - the second grade list by 4 blocks
turboteach - this is another area of difficulty for me...MxM is written for grade levels, and I usually have at least 2 at a time
Linda - I also have to give spelling tests on Fridays
Josey - ME too
Josey - I hate grading 1st graders
turboteach - me too
Linda - that is all I know (grading)
turboteach - our first grade doesn't begin "testing" spelling words until January
Linda - I have never used checklists, rubrics, or running records
Josey - We start in August!
Josey - I love RRecords but it is hard for our parents to understand
turboteach - you start school in August, or testing first graders?
Josey - They want numerical grades
Linda - Exactly
Josey - BOTH! We start and we test!
Josey - This is only my second yr in 1st
Josey - I taught K before and EIP
turboteach - what is EIP?
Josey - Early Intervention Program for students who are struggling but not slow learners!
turboteach - gotcha..sorry to appear dumb;O)
Josey - It is a crazy thing that our Gov implemented without thinking about the reprecussions
turboteach - all of these acronyms....with special education, there is no end!!
Josey - Now we don't know who really needs to be in the program
turboteach - our hands will always be tied it seems
Josey - I want to start a word study notebook with my class this yr
Josey - Has anyone ever done this?
turboteach - I tried to, but didn't stick with it like I wanted to....are you familiar with Words Their Way?
Josey - Yes that is where I got the idea
Josey - I thought about using it along with my WWW
turboteach - that's what I thought...couldn't it be incorporated into this block?
turboteach - lol
Josey - I thought about having the students write the WORD of the Day on an index card and decorate it.
Josey - Then look for it in books during SSR
Josey - We could then do act with thte weekly words
turboteach - that sounds like fun
turboteach - I'd love to focus on one grade level in my room, but I don't know what my schedule will be like this year, and I will have 1-4 graders coming, sometimes all at once!
Josey - I thought it could also be a multileveled act for those stud that require more challenging words or refocus on older words
Josey - All at once! How do you manage!
turboteach - with the best aide in the world!!
Linda - Do you have any help?
Linda - Oops.
turboteach - he actually has 13 years experience
turboteach - he actually has 13 years experience
turboteach - he actually has 13 years experience
turboteach - he actually has 13 years experience
Josey - WOW
turboteach - sorry!!
turboteach - and I mean She
Linda - I will be getting a new assistant this year
Josey - How long are the stud in your room?
Linda - I moved grades last year but my old assistant went with me
Josey - SCARY! new assistant
Linda - New to me but not to the school
turboteach - it varies..from 30 minutes to 90 mins. and they come and go
Josey - It is hard for other people to understand but it is scary to have to be stuck in a room all day with someone you may not like!
turboteach - I also teach math, which they come for anywhere from 45-75 minutes daily
Linda - Bless your heart!
Josey - This sounds just like EIP but I only work with 1&2 grade
Josey - I
turboteach - you are absolutely right Josey...I couldn't imagine being with another aide. she and I just clicked so well, we finish each other's sentences
Micky - Hi ,Josey and turboteach
Josey - I'm sorry K&1
Josey - HI micky
turboteach - I'm not complaining though, don't take it that way please...I just would love to fit $B into my reading time...
Linda - That is how we were
turboteach - Hi
Micky - I was very lucky with my aide when I was still in spec. ed.
Linda - Hi Micky
Micky - Hi, Linda
Micky - Do any of use use 4B
Josey - I find myself humming that old Toni Basil song "Mickey" now LOL
Linda - Not yet, I will this year for the first time
turboteach - not yet
Josey - I do
Micky - I use Guided reading, just checking in for info
Josey - WWW is my second favorite
Linda - I used www activities but that was all
Micky - Have been working hard on getting our LIteracy library in shape
Josey - I love the Writing block
turboteach - that is a full time job in itself!
Josey - I would also like to get into LItewracy Centers
Josey - Do you Lwike my Spwelling?
turboteach - I'm thinking the writing block would best fit my situation to start with, having such a vast grade/ability span
Micky - I have been using literacy work stattions for 2 yrs. the kids love it
turboteach - I won't laugh at you if you don't laugh at me;O)
Micky - Yes, Josey...did you look at our word wall?
Josey - I think the writing really helped my below average stud.
Micky - turbo, are you resource?
Josey - They liked to read something that they wrote and constantly applied phonetic skills
turboteach - yes
turboteach - k-4
Micky - I teach grade 2, what about you guys?
Josey - First
Linda - That is why I decided to use 4 blocks. I am receiving two children who were retained in 2nd last year
Linda - I teach 2nd
Micky - I was a resource teacher for 24 yrs, most of the time I did K-5 all subjects and content mastery, too
Josey - How did you manage your stations?Micky
Josey - Did you do it during SSR?
Micky - Josey, I was stuck in a rut and didn't do stations. When I made the switch to gen. ed, I spent 2 weeks in workshops over the summer and got hooked on Guided Reading
Micky - Now i do stations during my small guided reading groups
Josey - 20 minutes each?
Micky - Josey, are you pulling your hair out?
Micky - sorry, i meant that for turbo
Josey - I have alot of ideas but am having difficulty fitting into a schedule where everything is cover
Micky - Josey, about that
turboteach - sometimes I think so...I know it is graying very quickly!!!
Linda - My schedule is difficult also
Sarah - Micky, are your stations mandatory or choices for the students?
Josey - Miss Clariol #36
turboteach - 24 years is a long time
turboteach - lol
Sarah - Hi everyone! I also teach 2nd.
turboteach - thanks Josey
Micky - I was pulling my hair out trying to get everybody into the staions in a weeks time...didn't work so now I do it over a 2 weekk period and try to do them at least 4 times a week
turboteach - hi Sarah
Micky - hi, sarah...what grade do you teach?
Josey - I was thinking about monthly theme related literacy centers.
turboteach - I think that is the key...try it out, then tweak it to fit into your schedule
Sarah - I teach 2nd grade. I just finished my second year of teaching
Micky - Stations are mandatory, I put up the schedule each day and the kids go where it says,,,,,there are some extras available when the quick ones finish
love 1st - Hi everyone...just reading to see how you all do your stations.
Sarah - Micky, do you have the students that are in the same small groups with you stay together in their rotation in the centers?
Micky - I am constantly "tweaking" my system
Josey - What are some of the "choices" they have?
Josey - in centers I mean
love 1st - Do any of you ability group your students for stations? I think I may have TItle help at that time and they'll probably need to be grouped, although I'm not usually in favor of it. Any suggestions?
Micky - Sarah, my kids work in pairs at stations and then 2 or 3 pairs work in small groups with me (lowest group is usually one one pair)
Josey - Ho wmany groups do you have?
Josey - How long do you work with each?
Micky - I change up the pairs every 9 weeks and adjust the small groups as needed
Micky - I had 18 students in 5 groups
Josey - 18 is a dream
Josey - I had 23 last yr. those 5 extra kids makes a difference
Micky - I try to get with the lowest students every day for 15 min. Others generally every other day for 20
Micky - Yeah, Josey we were right at the cutoff for losing a section. Next year the classes will be 21 or 22 (22 in the max. in Tex. for K-4)
Micky - Love, I had to ability group somewhat for stations although not rigidly...had to plan around pullouts too
Josey - We are suppose to be getting smaller, Another wonderful plan from our governor, but now we don;t have the space or the money to implement it
Micky - Josey, what state?
Josey - GA
turboteach - where are you all from? other than TX
turboteach - I'm PA
Sarah - I think I am going to have 15 next year. My school was just closed at the end of this past school year, which was sad. I am being transferred to another school in the district with most of my other co-workers. I will still be teaching 2nd grade, and I am just thankful that I still have a job.
Linda - I am from TN
Linda - East TN
Sarah - I am from Maine
love 1st - I'm from Alabama, who is in a big financial crunch right now.
Josey - GA too
Micky - You could really do alot of neat things with just 15
love 1st - Linda, I love East Tennessee; are you in the mountains?
turboteach - you are very lucky to be able to keep your job!
Linda - I am an hour north of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg
Micky - I think all states are in a bind right now...our district, too
Josey - I love Pigeon Forge!
sally - I am from KY
Linda - We go there for vacation every year
love 1st - Sarah, that's interesting. My school was closed this past year too. Like you, i'll get to stay in my same grade level, but am going to a much different school than what I've been used to.
Linda - never get tired of it
Linda - Sally, what part of KY
Josey - We stay at Brothers Cove, it is so beautiful
Micky - we have quite a good representation in here....too early for west coast people?
love 1st - Linda, I love Pigeon Forge (and the outlets!!!). We just spent a week there last month. You have beautiful views to look at, I'm sure.
sally - eastern KY-Pikeville area
Linda - I am in a valley
Josey - They are still out enjoying the sun
Linda - Sally, my husband is from Middlesboro
Sarah - The good thing about moving my whole classroom was that I got rid of a lot, and discovered things I had never used before. The teacher that I did my student teaching with retired, and she gave me almost everything.
love 1st - Sally, we just went to KY for the fourth...a little town called Hardinsburg, close to Owensboro.
Micky - I'm jealous of the pretty mountain areas.....I sit on the flat, flat coastal plain
Linda - I cross a mountain every morning going to school and the sunrise is awesome
Micky - I try to get to some mountains every summer
love 1st - Sarah, I'm with you. I rediscovered some wonderful tools that I'd forgotten about. My new school is being renovated so my stuff is still boxed up. We're not sure if it will be ready when school starts.
sally - I love the mountains-growing up here was fun.
turboteach - that's great...I try to do a cleanout at the end of every year...but it took me 3 years before I decided to throw anything away...I still have things I have never used in my 6 years that were left...because I just might use them someday;O)
Micky - Hubby and I are flying to Pittburgh and then will drive back to Houston and will see as much as we canon the way back
Josey - WHen does everyone strt back to school?
Micky - brb...phone call
Linda - I start back Aug. 11 with kids coming 13 and 14
sally - August 4
turboteach - we were supposed to be heading to Seneca, SC next week, but hubby's job nixed that trip
Sarah - That must be stressful, not having your things unpacked.
love 1st - In AL we start on the fourth (I think) but we get a Fall Break the first week of October. That makes it easier to go back.
turboteach - Aug 21
turboteach - last trip to SC we traveled to GA somewhere to a nice outlet center..couldn't' tell you where though
Josey - We also will have a fall break this year because we start back on the 6th(kids)
Linda - Turbo, I need to clean also. I have things I have never used but won't through away
love 1st - Sarah, I'm completely stressed. Ive been stencilling homework folders tonight because I have all of this built up energy and can't do much about it.
Josey - I have already planned atrip to the mountains for Oct. I never get to go when the leaves change
Micky - I go back Aug. 12 (ealier to prepare for my presentation for inservice) kids come Aug. 18
Linda - We try to go to Cades Cove in the fall
turboteach - what prompted my first clean was having to move everything to the room next door so they could paint my room...lol
sally - We start back early because we miss several days of school because of snow. The roads in the mountains are very dangerous in the winter.
turboteach - what are you presenting on Michy?
Josey - Probably Commerce, GA (outletws
turboteach - sounds familiar...they were very nice!
Sarah - Wow, some of you start so early. I go back the end of August. When do you get out? Must be somewhat earlier. My last day this past year was June 11th.
turboteach - sorry..Micky*
Josey - May 21st for teachers Kids May 16th
Linda - I think we get out the week before Memorial Day
love 1st - We usually get out by the last day in May.
Micky - Cades cove is very nice....would love to see it in the fall
wizzle - Shoot, I have to go back July 30!
turboteach - wow! we get out first week in June
Josey - OOps wizzle
Linda - wonderful colors
Micky - Last dat of May
wizzle - We get out in May (that part is fun) but going back is kind of icky
love 1st - Don't feel bad wizzle...I do too. But to a classroom that is completely packed up.
turboteach - hi wizzle....don't envy you going back so soon
Josey - I go back on the 31st
Micky - turbo, I went to a training session on the Fountas & Pinnell Phonics Lessons kit and have to train the others in my building.....also Principal wants me to give an overview of 6 Traits writing
Linda - By Josey
Sarah - I went to my new classroom today to organize and arrange more things. I also just started my master's degree this summer, so it hasn't felt like too much of a vacation. I also have a puppy and a toddler. It keeps life interesting!
wizzle - My classroom is all packed too. Gotta unpack AGAIN
love 1st - EVERYONE-Any ideas for some fun activities for the Write the Room station?
Linda - Sarah, I am just finishing up my Masters
turboteach - cool! good luck!
Micky - Wow, Sarah...you are busy *remembering grad school days with toddlers*
Micky - I took the last final exam in my last grad course on May 3 and had a baby on May 4 LOL
turboteach - well folks, I hate to be a party pooper, but I need to go...hubby needs to use the computer for business:O( It was nice meeting and chatting with everyone. I wish all of you a happy and successful 03-04 school year!
Micky - This was a long time ago
Linda - Bye turbo
turboteach - hope to catch you in the next chat!
Micky - good luck, turbo
turboteach - thanks! and to all of you...
Sarah - Linda, congratulations! Has it been hard? How long have you been teaching? Are you glad you continued your education - do you feel it has been worth it and that it has helped your teaching? Sorry for so many questions!
Micky - Sarah, how old is your toddler?
wizzle - I had to change my color (that black was driving me bananas!)
Micky - wb, wizzle
Sarah - Wow Micky! Actually, when I graduated with my bachelor's degree I was 7 months pregnant!
Linda - Sarah, it hasn't been that hard. I did a distance learning program. I have been teaching 10 years now. I will eventually be glad that I continued my ed. It has definitely helped in my teaching.
Sarah - Good timing Micky!
love 1st - Enjoyed chatting with you all...gotta go put two little girls in the tub. I've been hinting to their father but he's ignoring it!!!
Micky - Linda, how long did it take to get your Masters? What a relief to finish
Linda - It has taken two years
Linda - including summers
Sarah - I feel like I should get closer to the end of my master's before I have another child
Linda - Bye, love
Sarah - That's men for ya!
Sarah - My little boy is turning 2 next Tuesday!
Micky - Finish it when the kids are little....for some reason it was easier for me back then, my kids are 13, 16, 19, and 22 and it still isn't geting any easier
Sarah - Linda, I am also taking my classes through a distance learning program, which helps with a little one at home. It's felt stressful because I signed up for two courses this summer, so I have to complete each one in six weeks.
Linda - That is the way I did
Linda - What program are you doing?
wizzle - Micky, you have that right. I have only 1 daughter (20). It was fun until she turned 14. From 14-18 was a bummer and LOTS of work.
Sarah - It is through the University of New England
Linda - I am going through Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN
Linda - with Canter Associates
deb - hi linda. Are you still four block chatting?
Micky - Yeah, wizzle....homework and school projects were abreeze until they got to middle school and beyond....and then there's the whole communication thing (or lack of) except when they want to get the driver's license and then all of a sudden they want to talk to you
deb - My husband and I went out for our 15th wedding anniversary...
Sarah - Micky, four kids while working! Amazing. Do you like the three years between children?
Micky - hi, deb...looks like we got off the subject of 4B
deb -no problem! I like getting off topic!
Sarah - Linda, mine is also through Canter Associates
wizzle - Micky, oh geesh don't even remind me. However, she is a junior in college now and she is actually pleasant again. Unfortunately (?) she is moving out next month.
Linda - I love the program
Linda - What you learn tonight you can implement tomorrow in the classroom
deb - sarah, my kids are 22 months apart (2 years in school) my sister's kids are 20 months apart.
Micky - Yes, Sarah...it worked for me...I quit teaching after my first child and was miserable.....i went back when she was 6 months old and have never looked back...........I love teaching!!!!!
deb - micky, I only lasted 20 days before I went back. I didn't even take the 6 weeks maternity leave after a C-section!
Micky - My husband taught for 24 years and is now a principal so he is VERY understanding
Micky - I couldn't teach and raise 4 kids without his help
emma - Can somebody tell me if WWW would work okay in the afternoon? I've done it for the past 2 years in the morning but don't think I'll be able to this year.
Micky - LOL, deb...did the same with my last two They were 5 weeks old when i went back
Linda - Emma, I did my www in the morning before the kids were tired and wanting to go home
Sarah - Micky, your husband must be wonderful
Micky - I don't do 4B, but i did my reading groups and work stations and most of my writing in the afternoons. I liked it even tho the rest of my team want to go back to mornings. I liked starting the day with Math.
Linda - I had thought about starting with Math
Linda - but it was suggested that we do all our Reading and Lang. Arts in the morning
emma - I thought I was a bit nutty because I quit teaching for 2 years and was miserable too. We must internalize our teaching to the point that it is part of who we are.
deb - emma, you can do four blocks at ANY time whenever it fits, you don't have to do it back to back or in the AM
Micky - I enjoyed the chat, but my 13 y.o. is waiting for ourbedtime reading (I still read to him most nights and will continue as long as he wants me to)
Linda - bye Micky
deb - yes I've over-internalized since my husband frequently says, "Don't talk to me like a second grader!" and I left the classroom 3 years ago to present four blocks full time!
Micky - emma, i agree, teaching is a vocation that is not easily taken off and put back on
Micky - good night, everyone
Linda - deb, you can answer a question for me
deb - linda, yes
Linda - I have a basal series that has high frequency words in it each week.
Linda - I used those last year and my TCAP scores were good. Should I continue to use those or should I use the ones recommended in MxM
deb - do they correlate to the word wall words at all?
Linda - No, most of them do not.
Linda - But they did appear on the TCAP test
Linda - some of them
deb - If they are truly high frequency and it worked for your kids that is fine. The list in Month By Month PHonics is a suggested list so that teachers don't use vocabulary words
emma - deb, won't there be a block that gets short shrift if it's done when the kids are more tired? I worry about that because they are all important.
Linda - okay, they are words like soldier and uncle and beautiful
Linda - I can't remember any more right now
deb - I wouldn't put could should would on the wall even if they are high frequency words in three different stories, you want to show the kids how to do the "on the back" rhymes
Linda - okay I understand that much
deb - those are NOT technically word wall words they are VOCABULARY words.
deb - emma, some kids do better in the PM then in the AM. I did writing at 2:30-3:30 every day for thirteen years\
Sarah - Deb, my district uses the Fountas & Pinnell version of Guided Reading, and so I do the flexible ability grouping. This past year I started incorporating aspects of the Four Blocks. What would you think about my continuing that along with implementing the Guided Reading 4B style?
Linda - thanks deb for the help
deb - linda, you want to teach the words that help them read the story, but you also want to teach the word wall words to increase spelling and writing. How do your kids spell? How do they write? The word wall is to assist in increasing their ability to spell and write, not just read
Linda - thank you now I understand it better.
emma - Thanks, deb. I feel better about it. I guess we can't have perfection in an imperfect world!
Linda - How should I go about picking words for the word wall
deb - sarah, if you want to do four blocks w/o FP you can because of the 3 ring circus and book club groups LOOK like FP groups. If you want to use FP groups, do that during ssr time vs. Comprehension GR time
deb - linda, look at writing samples. Look at the words they KEEP writing wrong.
deb - sarah, most administrators don't know enough to figure out the difference between FP and 3 ring circus etc.
deb - sarah, I use a lot of the GR the 4B way in the read aloud before ssr too
deb - linda, I give the kids a piece of paper, have them write then take an index card and record missed words. I tallymark next to the words and the ones with the most tally marks are next weeks word wall words
Linda - So, to start the year off, I could let the students write and then take their samples to choose words for the first full week of school
emma - deb, one time you stated that you did name interviews because you had lots of struggling readers. My class usually has a grand mixture of all different levels. I sure want to try the interviews. Do you think it would be good for the competent readers too?
deb - linda, that is what I do. On monday, the FIRST day, I take a writing sample and on TUESDAY I start word wall
deb - emma, absolutely. The oral discussion and the interactions between the students is so healthy. All the kids really benefit from interviews\
Linda - Our kids start on Wed. Go Wed and Thur. off Fri. and then a full week next week
Sarah - Thanks Deb! It's just hard fitting it all in. I think your suggestions will help.
deb - so take a writing sample on wednesday or thursday and start word wall on Monday the next week
deb - linda, are you in Michigan
Linda - That is what I thought but needed input
deb - sarah, I understand! it is really hard to do FP and 4 blocks!
Linda - no, I am in East TN
emma - Thanks again deb
deb - linda, oh most of the schools start just before Labor Day and then have the Friday and Monday off
deb - emma,I like to help
Linda - We start Aug. 11 with the kids coming Aug.13 and 14
deb - ouch! that is an early start!
Linda - This is my first year of doing 4 blocks
emma - Sarah, one of the teachers on the chat board said that she did 4 Blocks GR four times a week and then FP on Fri. just to satisfy the school dist. mandates. Would that work for you?
Linda - I need all the help I can get
Sarah - So Deb, you must really believe in the 4B method. Do you think it is much better than FP?
deb - sarah, I am jumping up and down screaming YES YES YES YES 4B is SOOOOOOOO much better. Not that I have a strong opinion or anything!
Linda - I thought you would say that deb
deb - I did the 4B in my classroom and the kids were so successful. I have experienced it personally and I have helped teachers achieve that too
deb - that said, this is how I make my living. I am working in four blocks but I truly believe it, not just cause it is my job, my husband says it is my mission, my passion, my obsession!
emma - I recently read the latest book about Teaching Comp. by Pinnell and another name I can't remember. I donated it to our library because it seemed to take a lot of ideas from 4 Blocks but still have teachers doing ability groups and centers. Yuck!!!!!
deb - emma, fountas and pinnell, that is where the FP comes from
Sarah - Some of the teachers in my district are opposed to the 4B GR format because they feel the "lower" readers feel frustrated and do not receive the support needed at their instructional level.
deb - yes, everyone gets on the band wagon, but they forget the TWO TENENTS of four blocks - multimethod and multiability - no ability groups
deb - sarah, that is because the TEACHERS are DOING IT WRONG. You never LEAVE a child withOUT support
emma - No, deb, I mean Pinell's very latest book. She collaborated with someone else. Also, it was an advertisement for all these leveled readers put out by Ohio State or whatever University Pinell teaches at.
deb - My low kids were so glad to be normal, not have to leave and read with the dumb group. I never left them stranded. I always provide them with enough support to be successful.
deb - oh sorry, emma1
deb - emma, what is up with the THREE group method?
deb - like pinnel is now talking about
deb - not three group, I mean three block
emma - Yes, I love that about 4 Blocks. The struggling readers start to feel so good about themselves. The minute you put kids in the lower groups you can see the other kids ostracize them. That can't be a good thing!
Sarah - The other issue with 4B was the need for enough multiple copies so each student would have a copy. Our district does not use a basal. I have older basals from the late 80's. Would you advise against using them? I did buy some Read and Understand books from Evan Moor Co. with short stories that I could make copies of. Do you think that would work?
deb - the research doesn't support grouping, but teachers don't read research, they teach traditions
deb - I know SOME teachers read research, but you all know what I mean
emma - To me she pirated the SSR, Working with Words, and Writing blocks and kept her FP the same way. Looks like she's an unknowing convert???
deb - I bet the basals from the 80's are literature based (real stories) and will work just great.
deb - emma, or a thief
deb - as Jim Cunningham is FOND of saying changing one block of four blocks, means three blocks and a mongreal - we don't want a mongreal!
emma - Amen, deb. Pinell knows a good thing when she steals it, LOL.
deb - emma, multiple copies - scholastic book clubs - $200 in first order and you get 4000 plus bonus points. I suggest that to teachers all the time
deb - emma, yes she DOES
emma - our basals are from the 80's and some of the stories are great and some classics and info. text in the mix too. I use them.
Sarah - Does the 4B method of G.R. suggest that certain days contain below-grade level texts, and then some days with on-grade?
Linda - well folks, I must leave now. It is coming a severe thunderstorm here.
Linda - Thanks deb for all your help
deb - linda, you are welcome
emma - Oh, Linda please send some of that rain to AZ. We are dry and scorching!!!!!!
deb - yes sarah, that is so the struggling kids can practice on easier text.
Linda - It is flash flooding here
Sarah - But all students would be reading the same text during the GR block?
Sarah - But all students would be reading the same text during the GR block?
deb - well I gotta go post anymore questions on the chatboard and I will answer.
deb - sarah, yes
Sarah - Deb, do you present anywhere near Maine?
deb - it is my anniversary (15 years) I gotta go
emma - Yes, Sarah, it works beautifully, believe me. So much less planning than the groups which drove me absolutely crazy!!
Sarah - Congratulations Deb!!
