deb - Welcome to 4 blocks discussion for 2nd grade teachers. (Others welcome too) :)
deb - 4 blocks is a balanced literacy approach that includes guided reading (comprehension); working with words (phonics plus more); ssr; and writing
snoochy - Hi Deb. I just got back from a conferenc in Daytona with Cheryl.
deb - I will see her Aug 4-5
deb - Did you learn a lot or confirm what you already knew
snoochy - I live in Fla, teach in Windermere outside of Orlando. I've taught 30 years on Dec 1. I have a 1,2,3 multiage room. Have done that for 7 years and love it. I keep my students for three years. Where are you and what do you teach. Yes, to you. Both affirmation, confirmation and enlightenment.
deb - I teach 2nd grade, I have for 10 years. I met Dottie Hall July 22. I am done with my masters of reading on Aug 2!
snoochy - I can't stay long because of family arriving home and will be expecting dinner.
deb - snoochy, no problem! It feels like Fla here in Michigan today, Lake Mi was 83 degrees (usually in low 70s on a nice day!)
snoochy - Yea to you for your Masters. What was your thesis? Where di you study?
deb - I have wondered about multi age. My real kids were in it for K and 1. Masters of Reading thesis on balanced literacy from Western Univ. in Kalamazoo, MI. My heart is at Hope College though (undergrad)
snoochy - I went to FSU and masters at Rollins College in Winter Park
snoochy - Did your children benefit from their class?
deb - Multi age -- I think it is great IF the teacher is great. I am not so sure about having a weak teacher for more than a year though.
deb - My son's 2nd grade tchr wasn't a good one. The school wants him to have the same teacher for 3rd. My hubby and I disagree
deb - I hope I am still tchg at 30 years plus! I appreciate your dedication
deb - hi dee101 -- what 4 blocks questions do you have?
snoochy - My students benefit from the social interaction, lack of competition and great modeling from the more advanced students. My older students are very independent and are in charge of a lot in the room. They seem to do very, very well in 4th grade (once they get used to ABC's). We are a non-graded class. There are 3 of us who teach together. We each have our own room of students but we plan intimitly. It is by far the most desirable situation I've been in. I've taught music, 1,2,3,5,6, and adult.
deb - this is really slow tonight. Last night I kept getting booted off
snoochy - I need to get in touch with some multi-age teachers who are 4-blockers. do you know of anyone.
deb - welcome dee101 -- any questions about 4 blocks
deb - snoochy -- announce that on ring, someone will answer I bet
snoochy - cheryle said that she really wasn't familiar with the multi-age model. I want to keep in touch with her sicne she says our questions are more and more common.
deb - my concerns are regarding guided reading with multi age. This is a time that separate teaching would apply,,, I think anyway
snoochy - I have appealed several time. the takers have come from usually the k,1 classes and that really doesn't share well with my situation. Others are in the 2,3 or the 1,2 model. The 1,2,3 creates some problems in the guided reading block.
deb - Have you joined the multiage mailring? Is that helpful?
deb - welcome aida, any 4 blocks questions?
snoochy - I think this year I will try to use the 2nd and 3rd material and the back up days I'll use the poetry notebooks etc. I am on the mailring at school and my e-mail at home is having problems. It has been very helpful. I feel like it has lost a lot of info with the new format of replies. It is a lot of mail but just jammed with ideas.
deb - I agree. I don't like the new format at all. I have answered the same questions numerous times
deb - aida -- what grade and where are you from?
deb - I am going to add poetry notebooks to my 2nd grade too
deb - aida and snoochy :) welcome back!
snoochy - Many of my 1st are reading when they enter and i've always invited anyone to come to any reading lesson. but i want to try the whole group and really spend a little more time in the self-selected reading for my really advanced students.
aida - hello every one I teach 2nd grade. I teach at a year round school and have successful completed three weeks of school Yea!! This is my first year teaching 2nd and using 4 block. I have my word wall up and have beening doing 5 words aweek for two weeks know. The kids love it!! Today was the first day I had a test they did okay. My question is what else can you do beside the five steps per word to add to more writing so they understand the words better?/
deb - that sounds great snoochy. Does your kindergarten teach reading or are the kids coming to school reading? Probably a mixture. I get about 5-8 2nd graders who aren't reading very well at all
deb - welcome Chris!
aida - my computer is acting up sorry
deb - aida, clarify more. What five steps do you mean?
snoochy - this is really slow tonight. We start school on Tuesday so I'm franticly trying to get things together. aida, we were year round for 5 years. i liked it how about you.
aida - cheering writing ect
snoochy - aida ....do you have the month by month phonics book
aida - so far it is great
aida - yes i do
snoochy - also the phonics they use book by allington and cunnigham and the Teachers guide to the 4 blocks. those both have tons of things to do not only with the 5 words but with the other words on the word wall.
deb - remember you are not going for mastery yet. There are kids who aren't going to know those 5 words every week. They will eventually by doing the different activities. It is different than the "spelling test
deb - Phonics They Use is outstanding! I use it a lot
aida - what do you tell your parents who ask why they do not have reg. spelling test like in first grde?
deb - Remember to model using the word wall when you are modeling writing in the mini lesson too :)
deb - I have to give a spelling test. Even though it doesn't fit with cunningham's outlook :)
deb - welcome lois, any 4 blocks questions?
snoochy - i'm sorry to go. hope to see you all again. talking and sharing is the best thing for me Have a great school year and remember we are in the best profession there is...no more work, blood, swweat , tears or...joy laughter and funfilled rewards than teaching. Take it from me a 30 year veteran.
aida - I do. I have used the can you guess the word in the fish groupp They seem to like that a lot.
deb - I rhyme five words for three different words from the wall for the spelling test. I also send home many of the word wall activities. deb
aida - as homework?
Lois F - Hi--no questions right now. Just want to lurk for a few minutes. This is new to me.
deb - not as homework; but as suggestions of what you can do with your child.
deb - welcome Anne!
deb - Guess The Covered Word is a really good activity
deb - It is one we need to do throughout the year.
aida - They way my class is set up I am only teaching the word wall to the kids. My reading series that I have to do is called the literacy tree? Have you ever heard of it?
Anna - deb, how do you teach the guided reading block?
deb - I haven't heard of it. Are you doing all the working with words activities or only word wall
aida - can you start the covered word right away or do you have wait a while first?
Lois F - Couldn't you work the other blocks in?
aida - what working with words activies are you talking about?
deb - Guided reading -- I do all the different formats. I start whole group and have them partner read two pages while sitting with me. I go SLOWLY as I introduce.
deb - You can start Guess the covered word right away.
aida - The reading series that I do takes up a lot of my morning. I do have the kids write at least three days aweek.
Anna - how many days do you spend in the basal?
Lois F - I have never heard of literacy tree. Is that a series?
deb - month to month for 2nd grade has 6 word wall activities in it
deb - anna, I don't have to do basal. But if the kids can read yours, that can be your on level reading.
deb - welcome meg
Anna - what do you use for your off level days?
aida - it is by rigby. It has big books and topic books and guided reading books
Lois F - I don't have to do basal either, so we do mostly chapter books or series.
deb - Guided reading is a concern for alot of people. I start whole group; model what I want them to do; then have them practice; right back to whole group; model; have them try; and do again; the key is to keep modeling a bit at a time
deb - off level days -- poems, 1st grade basal; and easy stories
Lois F - Deb, could you give us an example
aida - I do some of the activities in it but not all six of them mainly because I do not have enough time in the day
deb - off level days, I do a lot of author studies
meg - hi- i went to a four blocks presentation in june- we're supposed to start using the model this year along with a new reading series- i teach third
deb - Beginning of year, Little Bear books and Frank Asche Books. I posted one Frank Ashe idea at the lessons bank.
Anna - do you introduce new voc. words before, after, or during the reading? I had been doing this before reading, but have read that the words mean more to the kids if you introduce them after modeling the story aloud. What do you think?
meg - what were you talking about when i saw something about poetry notebooks
Lois F - Yes, I do Little Bear also and went to your site for your lesson so I could maybe get some new ideas.
deb - If I am teaching guided reading using little bear. I read the first chapter and talk about what is happening in the chapter. THen I stop every 2 pages and say things about the story elements. Then the kids partner to read the next chapter and all together we talk about the story elements
aida - where is your site?
deb - Then I go to chapter 3 of little bear and talk about feelings or story elements if that was brand new to them... or the events of the story. Chapter 3 is the next day.
Anna - How do you test guided reading-voc. and comp?
deb - aida -- it is Laura's -- I will have her send it to the mailring
aida - thanks
deb - The first several times I do GO (graphic organizers) I don't grade. I wait until they have done it at least 5 times. Then I can collect one done with partners or alone
meg - what is the mailring?
deb - Aida - also lessons are posted at the lessons bank on teachers.net in the 4 blocks section
aida - thanks
deb - meg -- on this teachers.net you can join the 4 blocks mailring and get lots of messages about 4 blocks. Look on the homepage.
Lois F - deb-do you use any of these stories for writing ideas? I would like to be able to work some of these things into writing that we can do on our computers.
meg - poertry notebooks?
deb - meg -- click on the mailrings and check the 4 blocks. Don't get too zealous and sign up for a ton of sites. Go slowly. 4 blocks has a lot of mail
meg - thanks- so i need an e-mail address?
deb - lois -- yes and no. I don't do writing prompts. But I do show kids how authors get ideas and what they include. The kids type one story a month on the computer with parent help
deb - poetry notebooks is a method of saving poems. You give the kids a poem a week. They can keep in a notebook and read it again later.
deb - meg -- yes need email
deb - if I miss a question, ask again please
Anna - deb-do you have literacy centers in your classroom?
deb - if I miss a question, ask again please'
deb - anna -- yes. THey are done as the kids enter in the morning. NOT during 4 blocks time.
aida - how many centers do you have in your room?
deb - grading. I keep samples of the kids work to show progress. I am amazed how accurate grades are with collecting one or two samples of reading work weekly
deb - aida-- 20
meg - thanks,deb, you're being bombarded
aida - are they all litercay ones?
Lois F - deb--what kind of grading do you do? Is it a letter, number, or rubric?
deb - centers -- based on What are the other kids doing while you teach small groups published by Creative Teaching Press.
Anna - What are some of your centers? I'm planning to do centers in the p.m. We start school next week, and it's going to be way too hot to do outside. Plus, one teacher at our school and I are going to regroup in the p.m. She's going to teach lower level children Saxon phonics and I'm going to have the others in center time.
deb - Last ten years A-F in second grade
deb - now we are moving to a checklist
deb - anna -- I will post the center ideas to the mailring ok?
meg - deb, i agree with you about collecting samples of work. i regret every year that i do not do that with regularity
Anna - I'm in the second grade mailring
deb - anna -- have you read the teacher's guide to 4 blocks or classrooms that work?
aida - do you get to all of your small reading group every day?
Lois F - deb-When you come up with a checklist, will you post it to the mailring?
deb - anna, email me d-smith@cybersol.com I will mail it to you
deb - lois -- yes
deb - anna, join us at 4 blocks we are great!!
aida - our report cards are not letter grades it is also a check list and a part we we can comment to the parents. It is called WORK SAMPLING any one ever heard of it?
Anna - I've tried to get in 4-blocks, but I keep getting the message that i've already subscribed.
dee101 - Hello. Are you there? This is the first time I have done this. I don't know what I am doing. I am trying to get to the meeting on 4 blocks
dee101 - Hello. Are you there? This is the first time I have done this. I don't know what I am doing. I am trying to get to the meeting on 4 blocks
deb - meg, I collect everyone's work every Thurs. I put it in a plastic bin. Everytime a parent shows up early or to help, I have them file them. I assign a kid on Thursday to date stamp the papers. I collect math that day too. Just my lazy way of collecting papers
aida - hi deelol you have made it.
Anna - Aida we are going to the same kind of report card. How do you like it?
meg - tell more about work sampling
deb - What other questions are you having with 4 blocks? Is everyone figuring out how to fit all 4 blocks in?
deb - deelol -- we are talking 4 blocks
aida - Last year all of the work sampling was done on computer and it was all typed out. This year more to a check list and less on the computer. When i get my checklist I will try and send it to the mailring. What I like best is that it has four grops above grade level at grade level below grade level with progress and below grade level with out progress
meg - as far as fitting all blocks in, i am sceptical- it seems like so much
deb - guided reading I do 2nd grade authors all throughout the year: Frog and Toad in May; Clifford in April; Dr. Suess in March
Lois F - Last year I managed to do SSR, followed by Working With Words, and then GR before lunch. The biggest problem I had was fitting the Writing block in.
deb - meg -- it is possible and necessary. Are you wondering about scheduling or the pace or what
aida - I have a hard enough time trying to fit math, my reading series in smalll guided reading groups centers science and socail studeis and wriitng. How long is your wriitng block?
dee101 - hello. I am teaching a 1/2 multi-age this year and would like to know how to implement the 4blocks into my classroom.
deb - lois -- is writing hard for you to teach? Do you need more information? Or was it just a time factor?
Anna - I'm using a timer for myself as well as the children.. I give myself 10 minutes for the writing minilesson and ssr reading. If I don't time myself, I'm apt to go too long. Does this sound about right?
deb - science and social studies could be your guided reading time
deb - anna -- yes. Many teachers start with a timer.
Lois F - deb--writing is not my favorite subject, but I team with another teacher and she usually does most of the writing. I prefer the factual kind of writing.
deb - welcome jean
dee101 - I
Anna - dee. I learned a lot about 4 blocks by reading Classrooms That Work by P. Cunningham.
jean - we will be implementing the 4 blocks this school year. I am enjoying reading all the comments and learning alot.
aida - I think that that book I should get I seem a little confused I think/
deb - lois -- that's writing too :) :)
deb - aida, Classrooms That Work and The teacher's guide to 4 blocks work really well together
Lois F - I can use all the help I can get and am open to all and any ideas
deb - I spend 40 minutes on writing and guided reading and 30 minutes on ssr and working with words
aida - how many guideing reading group so you do a day?
deb - Last year several people posted schedules and I helped them squeeze in 4 blocks. If anyone is interested I will help
meg - i am going to a new school this year and have been told they scheduled third grade for 115 minutes which is up from the 90 minute block they did do- i guess that's enough time but i was used to the fountas and pinnell guided reading model and that took up most of my 90 minute block last year - if i can get it all together i do like the idea of doing all blocks every day- i know i didn't give time for all four last year- i too do not feel comfortable modeling writing
Anna - deb, how many making words lessons do you do each week? I've been making words on Tues and Thurs. and sorting and transferring on wed. and fri. Does this sound ok?
Lois F - I am interested, but won't know my schedule until the 2nd week in Sept.
deb - aida, guided reading in 4 blocks is whole group. It is not wright group or Pinnell/Fountas. The fix it strategies taught in small group guided reading is taught during shared reading and ssr in 4 blocks.
jean - i have a concern about fitting this into a plan book..Should I be?
deb - anna -- that sounds great. I only do making words once a week. I do all the other working with words from month to month for second grade so I only have time for once a week.
deb - jean -- label 4 boxes in the plan book with the title of each block and then fill it in like other plans
deb - jean -- I typed it all out and then highlight or circle what I am doing that day
Lois F - I am lucky--don't have to use a plan book so can set it up on my computer and then just print it out for the week
Kim/IN/2 - I'm trying to get stuff ready for beg. of school..looking at "Using Words You Know"..how often to you use that?
Anna - deb, do you have subs trained in 4 blocks at your school?
deb - model writing. check out the lessons on teachers.net. I have numerous mini lessons that you can do there.
meg - i've noticed a lot of questions about guided reading
deb - anna -- I am solo at the school
jean - Lois, I like the computer idea...I think I'll try that..
Anna - What do you do when you are out?
Rose/TX - What's the meeting about tonight?
Kim/IN/2 - Subs......big problem. They can't follow the verbatim l.p. I leave. I mean it word for word narrative...how can they handle 4 blocks?
deb - guided reading is not F&P so it gets confusing at first. Guided reading simply means guided children while they read. Cunningham focuses us on comprehension during this section.
Rose/TX - Kim--have you ever been a sub?
deb - Kim, I leave "whole language" -- activities theme based totally applied to one story and just have them do that instead.
meg - my biggest concern is not bing able to monitor the lowest most needy readers
deb - rose -- 4 blocks
Kim/IN/2 - Yes...when I just got out of school
deb - using words you know -- once or twice a week
Kim/IN/2 - They don't even do what I leave them. They sit behind the desk all day.
Rose/TX - Kim, Do your subs have to be degreed where you are?
deb - meg, this model was written for them
Kim/IN/2 - I'm not out often..just for prof. leave. I drag myself in when I'm sick.
meg - none of us should be out that much if you ask me, we get enough days off
deb - meg, cunningham and Dottie Hall wrote this for the lowest readers and it is working for them!
Kim/IN/2 - deb....do you do the independent lessons shown in classrooms for using words you know?
jean - Kim, perhaps your district should look into having permanent subs in each building, then they can be trained they way you want them.
deb - meg, all the wonderful P&F things you do fit into the SSR block.
Anna - Meg, I did 4 blocks last year, and it gave me a much better picture of my kids' abilities than ever before. The conferencing done in writing and ssr. tell a lot.
deb - kim give me a page number please.
Rose/TX - I'm a sub--I can't imagine trying to teach behind a desk
deb - kim give me a page number please.
meg - deb, how so? it seems like they are more than likely going to be reading silently of with another student than with the teacher
Kim/IN/2 - subs are not degreed...just need high school diploma for one level...next is 60 hrs. college wk
deb - kim, page number please
Kim/IN/2 - page 147
Lois F - one thing that helped me last year when I started was to start with one block, get familiar, and then add. I usually just plunge in, but not this time!
aida - our subs need 6o hours of college before they can work!
deb - meg, while they ssr you are conferencing with the kids. I start with a table group and make sure they are reading books they can read. I make sure I get to all the kids once a week and the low kids 4 of 5 days or more
deb - lois -- did you get all of them up and running last year :)
Lois F - Our subs just need to be breathing
Kim/IN/2 - ssr...do you have different people share then those you conf. with...does it matter?
Rose/TX - Our district requirest 60 hours too. If they required degrees they never would have any subs.
meg - lois, i agree- i'm going to just give myself a break and do my best
aida - when you conferecne with them what are you really doing?
Lois F - deb--yes, I did and had a glorious year. In fact got a letter today from one of my little girls. She has turned off the TV and is reading chapter books. Even suggested one for me to read!!
deb - Kim page 147. Yes I do but independent is only at 4th marking period. I do this once a week all year and they begin to do alone at the end
deb - lois -- great!!! aida, what do you mean about conferencing?
meg - deb, i forgot that ssr time was a time for me to conference- did you find that kids often are reading above their reading level during ssr- i guess i really need to have a lot of books available
Rose/TX - What exactly are the 4 blocks? I'm a student and am planning to eventually get a masters in reading specialization
Kim/IN/2 - I'm really trying to get organized. Do you have one folder for conferences for reading and writing...keep everything together....or separate folders for each block for each child?
Anna - deb, which block is most important? If you have a fire drill like we do first thing some mornings, and you can only get to three blocks, which ones do you do?
deb - meg, not really, the lower kids loved that they really had time to read and had books available that they really could read
aida - I thought you said something about conferencing with each student once a week?
deb - anna -- I would do them all and make them all shorter. :)
Rose/TX - Every class in our district is reqiured to have a class library
Anna - great idea
deb - aida -- during ssr time conferencing is done once a week to do running record, or check comprehension, or chat about books..... but I meet with my lowest kids more than once a week
Kim/IN/2 - for using words...did you do the indep. act. the same day? I also notice that it is described differently in classrooms. The are no wds you write...just wds you read and the indep. act.
deb - no folders for guided reading or working with words
Rose/TX - Our district doesn't allow teachers to conference during SSR time everyone in the building must read including the janitors and cooks!
deb - kim, whatever your kids are ready for. Classrooms That work is more general information and month to month was written specifically for second grade.
aida - nice name coolhand luke hello
coolhand Luke - good policy Rose
coolhand Luke - thanks aida
Kim/IN/2 - rose...ssr than is sustained silent reading for you
Kim/IN/2 - thanks deb
deb - Rounding up Rhymes helps the kids with using words you know
coolhand Luke - it is for us I also call it DEAR
Rose/TX - Kim...yes what's the other meaning?
deb - rose, lots of research backing up that ssr should be conferenced
aida - I guess ssr and d.e.a.r. is the same drop every thing and read.
Kim/IN/2 - my kids loved rounding up the rhymes last year. their stories were so silly
meg - during ssr conference, do you write down observations
coolhand Luke - yep
Kim/IN/2 - rose...self selected reading...which is the 4 block way
Rose/TX - I've read lots of research that says it's important that your students see you reading
deb - conferencing with ssr -- also let's remember to bless books by reading parts to the kids AND reading a chapter then putting it into the SSR baskets. :)
rjy - Does anyone have a SSR conference sheet , with specifics, like a check list?
Rose/TX - Hi coolhand! We like it.
Tex - Rose, Dear and SSR have different purposes. Maybe you could find time for both in your schedule
coolhand Luke - Hi Rose
aida - I have title one that comes into my room and half of my class goes. So the other half is is Dear. and they are on the computer taking an accerated reader test. they have to completet and pass two tests a week.
meg - the other ssr is silent sustained reading
deb - rose, that is true at the beginning of the year and if you get a new student but 4 blocks supports conferencing with kids during this time
Rose/TX - Thanks Kim.
Kim/IN/2 - deb..how soon do you read chapter books. my kids won't sit still for a chapter book until late Nov.
aida - what is the difference between ssr and dear
Anna - Our ssr is self-selected reading, where the teacher reads aloud, then the children read silently while you conference with some. I use a checklist during the conference.
deb - well, meg my family is a calling. I have got to sign off. I have enjoyed this chat with everyone!!
Tex - Dear is what Rose is describing...everyone reading. SSR 4 Blocks style is the time when students get to self select books at their own level, and the teacher conferences with them to check comprehension, growth etc.
coolhand Luke - Be very animatred Kim I become the characters in the story pull the kids in
Kim/IN/2 - is this going to be archived?
meg - i guess when else could you conference if not during ssr
coolhand Luke - Be very animatred Kim I become the characters in the story pull the kids in
Kim/IN/2 - I must have misunderstood...it's just now 7:15 by me
aida - i guess i dont do ssr
coolhand Luke - select stories that they can relate too
coolhand Luke - its 8:15 in these parts
Rose/TX - Yes, I was using SSR as Silent Sustained Reading I'm not familiar with 4 blocks
coolhand Luke - wb back meg
coolhand Luke - I would like to be familiar with the 4 blocks model
Tex - This has been going on since 6 pm central
Anna - the ssr block ends with the children doing book talks. I like to watch reading rainbow so they can see how to do the talks. I let them use puppets during the book talk.
Roz - Does anyone use a check sheet to help assessment during SSR
Anna - I do.
coolhand Luke - I demonstrate book talks by dressing up likea character in the story once I was the pig in the True story of the three little pigs
coolhand Luke - kids laughed and laughed
Linda - I don't like the conferencing part--without a purpose specified by the teacher?hen do students get to read for PLEASURE
Roz - Anna, What kinds of things?
Rose/TX - I have found a wonderful series of books adapted from The Chronicles of Narnia for younger readers if has been a wonderful way to get them excited being able to read the actual book
aida - any pictures?
Rose/TX - We use the accelerated reader method here
Anna - The list I use has: main characters, summarizing plot, setting, fluency.
Rose/TX - coolhand luke-how long have you been teaching?
Rose/TX - Aida, are you asking me?
Kim/IN/2 - anna...do you just add a sheet to their folder each time you conference?
aida - Rose, do you have a set number of tests that the kids need to pass in a week?
Roz - Perhaps my list is too detailed. I have 28 items.
coolhand Luke - I been around kids a long time as a tutor and mentor caoching etc. BUt contractually only 1 yr.
aida - yes
Anna - The sheet I use has enough places for 6 weeks on the front and back.
g5 - aide - was it you that needed some information about the NTE sometime ago
Rose/TX - aida, I'm a sub and an education major so I've seen several different methods--some require a certain amount of points per week some don't
meg - Roz, i found one on teachers.net- i forgot i had it- i'm not totally up on all this computer stuff but here's what it says on the bottom of the page http://www.teachers.net/FAQ/conference_record_form.html
coolhand Luke - how much longer do you have to go before you complete your studies to become a teacher Rose
Roz - I have things like: student uses word parts/chunks/clusters to docode unknown words.
Rose/TX - Aida-- Big beautiful detailed pictures--Would you like to know more about the series?
meg - Roz, what i have is similar to that
Roz - Another item is:student uses letter/sound relationships in flexible ways.
g5 - well - i think i'll be moving on - bye guys
Rose/TX - Coolhand Luke-- I change majors so I still have about 2 years left--I'm specializing in reading so most of my classes are in that subject
coolhand Luke - bye g5 you didn't stay long
Roz - Meg, thanks for the address.
coolhand Luke - Reading great you will have no problem in the job search
Anna - I keep my ssr sheets in a note book and share them with parents during conferences.
aida - Rose/TX I am confused what pictures about what?
Rose/TX - coolhand--we have a major shortage of math teachers here in Texas but I love reading
Roz - Anna, do you keep three separate notebooks, then
meg - i really need to work hard this year on having documentation for parents but especially for myself
Rose/TX - Aida, I thought you asked me about the book I was talking about
coolhand Luke - math science special ed and reading are critical needs almost everywhere
Rose/TX - coolhand luke--I'd like to get a masters in reading specialization what grade do you teach?
Roz - Meg, we have to give both math and LA benchmarks to parents at our first conference, notifying parent that if student fails any item, it may be terms for retention.
