meeha - looks like this may be a tough evening to chat!
Kim - I have a quick question?
meeha - what is your quetion, Kim>?
Kim - My students will be taking the Terra Nova exam in a few weeks and I'd like to know what to expect?
meeha - sorry, Kim -- I work with special needs prechoolers and haven't got a clue!
meeha - Jenny, this is where the ece teachers' meeting is supposed to be happening ... be patient, the server is REALLY slow tonite!
meeha - Hi sheila!
meeha - hi, Paulie! welcome to tonight'ss early childhood chat.
JennyBC - yeah i've been having trouble
Paulie - I thought the room would be full -- I could not get signed in -- tried for over 20 minutes. . . hi
meeha - Does anyone have some great ideas for mothers' day ... or end of the year activities?
JennyBC - where's everyone from?
meeha - Paulie -- I had to resort to a 2nd browser ... it took me almost that long to get in!
Tess - I had a difficult time getting in as well!
Paulie - I restarted my computer and then used a link from a search instead of my favs link
Paulie - Yes, I came to hear (and maybe contribute) about Mother's Day . . .
Tess - Meeha, our Mother's Day project is an empty container (jello cup) filled with sand, silk flower, and layer of white glue on top to hold in flower and a bow.
meeha - Paulie -- gmta!
JennyBC - I teach grade 2 in British Columbia, still trying to think of a good idea for mother's day
sheila - I think I'm going to do a "Mom's Fav Recipe Book"
meeha - my kiddos made lady bugs from red pom poms, tissue paper flowers, glued tissue paper squares on glass bottles for a vase ... added a photo on the card!
meeha - Tess -- sounds pretty!
JennyBC - that sounds nice meeha
Paulie - nice meeha
meeha - Sheila, how long will it take you to produce that? can you tell us about it, please?
JennyBC - my friend had a good idea about little candle holders made out of baby food jars, covered with tissue paper, and with a tea light inside. I'd do it, but no supply of baby food jars!
sheila - I will have each student dictate their Mom's favorite recipe and let them draw a picture of it, copy for each of the students
Paulie - I bet if you asked for the jars you would get more than u need
JennyBC - yeah that's true, i know at least 2 of my mom's have babies
meeha - Jenny -- no parents at church, a local day care, sibling that is a baby at home?
Paulie - send a not with all tomorrow
meeha - oops! that has a baby at home!
JennyBC - yeah maybe i'll do that!
meeha - hi Chris! welcome to tonight's early childhood chat.
Chris - I was thinking of making a hand print plaque. Any success?
JennyBC - i like that idea sheila
Paulie - (I was wondering about parents being a baby at home hehehehe)
Riley - One of our favorite Mother's day projects is very simple. Using our die cut and poster board we cut out the letter O. Save the O for another project...just use the rest for a picture frame. Kids draw a pic. of MOM and ME and put some writing on it, laminate it, frame it and that's it. I still have mine from my own daughter and love it! Also plant Marigolds. Have a separate Young Five project.
Paulie - do u have the poem for a handprint plaque?
sheila - For the front, weave red and white paper strips "Betty Crocker Style" with student photo
Riley - Chris...I do a hand print inside a heart...frame it and put a little poem on it.
Paulie - sounds wonderful idea Riley
meeha - Chris -- it can be done ... I'm really happy to say that our gifts are finished! start now -- you have exactly eight (or in our district seven) days to get the project started, completed, wrapped, and sent home!
Chris - I have a poem that I got off the first grade mailring a couple of nights ago. It's really nice, but where do you put the poem?
Paulie - I have the handprint poem if you don't
Tess - Riley, I like that idea.
Riley - Paulie...I use: "I give my hand to you this day....Remember me now as I grow and play."
meeha - who knows what bright secrets my ten fingers hold, what talents lie hidden, adventures untold! The world is awaiting the wonder of me, for no one can say just what I will be!
Riley - Would be interested in another poem...
meeha - this is the hand you used to hold when i was only ___ years old!
Paulie - o I ahve a completely different one
meeha - Paulie -- you have "Sometimes you get discouraged"?
meeha - hi, 3tmp! welcome to tonight's early childhood chat.
Chris - Here my handprints are done for everyone to view. I had so much fun doing them for you. So look upon this handprint plaque hanging on your wall and memories will come back of me when I was small.
Paulie - Here my handprints are done for everyoen to view. I had so much fun doing them for you. So look upon this handprint palque hanging on yoru wall And memories will come back of me when i was small.
Paulie - I have that one meeha but not handy
meeha - all of these poems and ideas will be posted here at http://www.teachers.net/archive after a day or two ... every meeting transcript is kept for review -- you can look back through previous meetings for other idea, too!
Riley - I did the recipe book for many years....Had one year that a family approached me....Recipes were dictated by kids so not quite "accurate". Their child took it very personally when others laughed at their recipe. Gave that up for awhile!
Chris - What is the recipe if I did the plaque?
meeha - Riley -- sometimes when I've seen the recipe book done the child dictates the "recipe" to a teacher ... the teacher requests that parents send the "real" recipe in
Chris - Do I have enough time if I start this week?
3tmp - hi Paulie
Riley - Yep...learned my lesson on that one, meeha!!!!
Paulie - You don't have to use plaster of paris to do the plaques -- you can do a handprint in paint with the poem typed below
meeha - Chris -- yes, but you will need to truly dedicate some effort to it! (Please bear in mind, I work with a younger, special needs population ... it takes a while to do things!)
Sima - who want to work im korea??I can help...
Chris - Good idea! There is something about being able to feel the hand.
Chris - meeha...what is the recipe for this?
Paulie - why? are they hiring teachers for Korea?
Paulie - we did handprints in paint for Moms and footprints for dad with a follow in his steps poem that is much longer
meeha - Chris -- recipe for what -- I'm sorry!
Sima - yes...we need many teachers, because korean people and oupil wanner learn english
Chris - Can you tell this is my first year teaching first grade, and I'm ready to take on anything.
JennyBC - the internet is so neat, i've just figured out how to listen to the hockey game live while i do this chat
meeha - Go, Chris!
Paulie - You are too funny Jenny I do that with my 5 inch tv near the computer lol
Chris - I thought you had a recipe for making the plaque.
meeha - I have a tv on one end of my room ... computer at the other!
JennyBC - that might be easier!........i like that footprint idea paulie
meeha - Oh -- no, we did a different project.
Paulie - oic well thanks but I don't think I want to move that far away for now . . .
Chris - What was your project?
Paulie - come back for father's day stuff and I will be prepared with the poem
Paulie - thanks jenny
Paulie - Chris u use plaster of paris u get wet sand in a pie pan and then the child imprints hand
meeha - We've done handprints with a special clay -- but we cut out the hands and folded 2 fingers to "say" "I love you" ... that takes a LONG time! I wouldn't recommend salt-dough, as the product is unpredictable. I suggest painted hand print on a contrast paper, poem posted below -- might mount both on poster board rectangle.
Paulie - and then you pour liquid plaster in the imprint
Paulie - and when it hardens u brush off the sand
meeha - My kiddos glued tissue paper squares around a glass bottle (12 - 16 ounce, tall/thin type) for a vase, helped make tissue paper flower and pompom lady bug for gift
Paulie - and I think we put a paper clip in back to hang
Chris - How much liquid plaster should I pour over the handprint?
Paulie - you fill the hole made by the print
JennyBC - sorry maybe i missed it , where do you put the poem, on the plaster hand?
Paulie - nd when it starts to harden you put the paper clip in half submerged
Paulie - e side that is down is the front
meeha - Jenny -- probably in the card.
JennyBC - oh i see
Paulie - you don't put the poem on th hand It goes on a card or a paper that goes with it
Chris - How long does it take to set up and dry? Can they paint it? Do you seal it?
Paulie - it is jsut as nice to make a handprint from paint
Paulie - you don't want to paint it
Chris - I'm full of questions tonight.
Paulie - bigger hands take longer
Paulie - if you have to paint the plaster you have to seal it first
JennyBC - well there's only a few min. left to the game, gotta go watch, thanks all for your ideas!
meeha - Chris -- questions are good! that i why we're here! to share and to learn!
Paulie - bye jenny
meeha - bye, jenny -- be sure to check out the transcript at http://www.teachers.net/archive in a day or twol.
Chris - My kids made painted handprints last year in kindergarten.
Chris - You are all very helpful.
Paulie - well then if they make it again this year, they will have a way to see how they grew
Chris - Good point Paulie.
meeha - Chris -- hand prints are okay for parents, they generally enjoy them while the kiddos are young!
Paulie - lol Now you ahve to convince their teachers in each grade to do it
Paulie - plaster ones often get broken
Chris - I dont' think that will happen.
meeha - My kiddos in the toddler room at church are doing the "I love you this much" cards (sentence strip with hands ((child-traced)) at either end) on a paper doll.
Paulie - and end up as hopscotch chalk
Paulie - I was just kidding
Chris - I mean that the teachers would want to do this each year.
meeha - might be fun to do "shrinky-dink" hands for a key ring!
Paulie - One year we planted flowers and they did not grow at all not even a stem so we had a poem for the failed prokect but I don't remember it now
meeha - We kind of track what we do each year and rotate projects over a two to three year block -- but I have kids more than once!
Paulie - Yes that is neat we did that for Father's day
Paulie - hi Koliver
Chris - How much plaster should I buy for 25 students?
meeha - hik koliver!
Chris - Do I need special sand?
koliver - We are having a mother and baby day since so many of my students had baby sisters and brothers this year.
Paulie - wet sand
meeha - Chris, if you go to a place like hobby lobby or michaels' they should be able to advise you.
Paulie - so what are u doing for that koliver?
meeha - koliver -- fun!
Paulie - How much plaster is hard to determine I think just one box of it is enough for a class but ask at Michaels
koliver - We will sing songs to the babies, have each student introduce their "baby" and sing some songs to moms too.
Chris - I live in a small town, so I'll probably end up at our Walmart.
Paulie - hi Douglas
meeha - Chris -- you might take a five minute video of each child talking about their favorite memories from when they were "little"!
Paulie - fun koliver nice idea
meeha - ..... guess it could be an audio tape, too.
Chris - Cool video idea!
koliver - My mothers always love a chance to bring in refreshments and have a party. We also made plaster hand prints to give moms
meeha - ask the art teacher ... she/he may already have the supplies you need on-hand!
Douglas - Hello, I'm looking for drawing software for primary school, PC
Chris - Did someone say plaster handprints.... ha ha ha
Paulie - koliver how much plaster did it take to do for all the class?
koliver - great idea chris!
Douglas - Can someone give me a lead on this?
Chris - Do you have a special method for making the handprints?
Paulie - nope we are just on the train of thought for Mother's day gifts now
Paulie - (I have an iMac limited edition iMac so can't help with PC)
koliver - we are so lucky, the high school art teacher always prepares the clay for us. All we had to do was print their hands and glaze the clay. He did the rest. Hice guy!
Paulie - (snow imac
Paulie - o u did it withut plaster
meeha - Douglas -- drawing softward for primary school? Have you looked at KidPix? Microsoft Drawing Tools?
Chris - I asked our art teacher and she said she didn't have enough clay and also that it was expensive.
Paulie - we made penguins with clay once and then put in kiln It is not expensive
Chris - Can I buy the clay at Walmart?
sheila - Doesn't clay have to be fired? Then again after glazing?
koliver - sorry, I said it was plaster, but it was clay. oops!
Douglas - I'll look at KidPix. I need drawing rather than painting.
Chris - Which would be cheaper?
Paulie - do u have a kiln?
Chris - We have a kiln we could use in the high school.
koliver - Yes, the art teacher fires it for us too. He likes kindergarteners
Paulie - don't have to refire
meeha - Chris -- why not do the painted hands this year -- they really aren't hard, and generally you get a really nice product!
Paulie - sut spray with a sealer after painting
meeha - KidPix should allow a LOT of latitude -- drawing, painting, stamping, .....
Chris - I'll have to think over my options.
meeha - Just remember that moms love what their children do!
Chris - I framed my daughters painted handprints from pre-school. It's my favorite picture in the house.
Paulie - I typed away and nothing appeared
koliver - I love the handprints from when my children were little.
Paulie - Chris I ahve the father's day peoem if u want to do hands for Mom and feet for Fathers
koliver - Paulie, that sounds great!
Douglas - My connection is impossibly slow. Still looking at kidpix.
Chris - I'm such a sentimental fool. I know that I want one of my daughter's teachers to make a handprint plaque.
koliver - What is the father's day poem?
Chris - I would love to have the Fathers' day poem.
Paulie - Walk a little slower, Daddy, Said a little child so small. I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall. Sometimes your steps are very fast, Sometiems they're ahrd to see;
Douglas - Is there a PC equivalent of MacDraw?
meeha - well, I'm going to exit for a bit ... hope to ee you all again next week! remember to check out the transcript of this meeting at http://www.teachers.net/archive in a day or two -- you can refresh you mind and get copies of poems then! Thank for being here!
Paulie - So walk a little slower, Daddy, For you are leading me. Then I will have a little childwho'll want to follow me.And I would want to lead just right, And know tht I was true; So walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you!
meeha - Douglas -- have you asked if you can get a mac chip for you pc? sometimes you can run programs on the other type of 'puter by installing a special chip
meeha - ..... or board!
Paulie - ok that is it in two parts Type it up really nice and run off on long paper and then put kids feet prints on bottom andy color
meeha - 'nite all.
Paulie - bye meeha
Paulie - Sorry for the typos I tried to type too fast I guess. . .
Paulie - any color lol
koliver - Paulie, I love the poem, thank you for the father's day idea. I'll do it! never have thought of a good one for dads. thanks
Paulie - Chris, you can make the handprint yourself with yoru own kids u don't have to wait for a teacher to do it
Douglas - Thanks for your response Meeha.

Later in the evening

Tina - Hello
Jenny - hi tina
Tina - What grade do you teach?
Jenny - 2, you?

Paulie - will
Paulie - plants are always good
Paulie - what are you doing beverly
Paulie - Tina I think I would put an artificial flower in it
Paulie - n it won't have to be transplanted
Paulie - Then
Tina - That's a good idea
Paulie - might even put a magnet on it and let them put on fridge
Tina - Any suggestions for a creative mother's Day card?
Jenny - the only other times i've had to do mother's day was when i taught in a gr K-11 classroom, and we did embroidery, which isn't really suitable for my grade 2 class
Paulie - well take a picture of kids and cut face out in circle and make flower of face
Paulie - I had 2nd graders embrodiery in my girl scout troop
Jenny - i saw a good card that had a flower pot with several flowers that came out, and on each stem there was a chore to be done by the child, like a coupon
Paulie - the kids can make petals
Jenny - the flowers actually pull out
Paulie - and stem and leaves
Paulie - that is a neat idea Jenny
Jenny - yeah i think i have the website bookmarked
Tina - They could color and glue tissue paper.. I was thinking of having them make a handprint flower
Paulie - Beverly, are u here?
Paulie - Tina those are neat but can get big
Jenny - http://family.go.com/crafts/cutpaste/craft/chorecard/
Paulie - thanks will check that out later

Jenny - what grade do you teacher paulie?
Jenny - i mean teach
Paulie - I am not teaching this year -- I moved and it was too late to get a job
Paulie - but hoping to get on in first or K next year
Jenny - is it hard to get a job in vancouver?
Paulie - we have two school districts in vancouver! But there is competition for the jobs available
Paulie - I can't think of preschool/early childhood sites now BUT a good site is teachers helping teachers
Paulie - I met the principal that runs that site in Ca
Jenny - it's sooo hard up here...it's a really attractive area where everyone wants to live, so it takes forever to get in, and now everyone is getting laid off
Paulie - Mandel , Scott is his name
Paulie - o sorry to hear about that
Paulie - we are going to start a new Lutheran school here and I would really like to get on there
Paulie - I think another site is called abc.teach

meeha/ece/tx - Paulie -- last week we had a GREAT meeting ... probably twelve or fifteen came to share ideas!
Paulie - that adds up to 19
Paulie - well last week I ahd a meeting
meeha/ece/tx - Recently I've seen lower numbers that a few years ago.
Paulie - The week before it was less than tonight
Tina - is there a diferent topic each week?
meeha/ece/tx - WELL ... being a preschool teacher ... and double-dipping for awhile ... I subbed and worked with head start for two or three years! probably closer to three subbing (in reality)
Paulie - I stopped coming for a few years cause it is hard to read up instead of down
Paulie - ok †
Paulie - soemtimes no topic
Paulie - t was for Mother's day but earlier we also did Father's day

Paulie - meeha soemone tonight had another good idea for Mother's day
meeha/ece/tx - what was it, Paulie?
Paulie - they made flowers and wrote chores on the stems
Paulie - and put in card
Paulie - yes very ahrd to get in tonight
meeha/ece/tx - cute, Paulie! That would be fun to do with older primary grade kiddos! My kiddos could do "hug"' "kiss" "put away spoons" kinds of things ...
Paulie - I think they were 2nd gr
Paulie - love hugs
Paulie - and pick up own toys
Paulie - and help make bed
Jenny - hello i'm back
Paulie - welcoem back Jenny
Jenny - i've got the website for that flower/chore craft if you want
meeha/ece/tx - that would be cute ... to do a set of ''love bugs" ... lady bugs ... wings open to reveal chores or special "treats" for a parent (like hugs, kisses, tickles, lap time, etc.)
Paulie - sure meeha it was Jenny lol
meeha/ece/tx - Jenny -- go ahead and post it!
Jenny -
Jenny - http://family.go.com/crafts/cutpaste/craft/chorecard/

Paulie - ep it fits
Paulie - Walk a little slower, Daddy, said a little child so small.
meeha/ece/tx - i'll be up there for my nephew's graduation from ph northern in june!
Paulie - o darn it did not all fit
meeha/ece/tx - (They own the funeral home in marysville, not the church! ... oops! )
meeha/ece/tx - Paulie, for some reason only one line at a time transfers when you try the cut and paste.
just me - not familiar with that church --- got a godson graduating from PHN this year
meeha/ece/tx - from what i undertsand my nephew was sworn into the Navy today ... reports to boot camp in august!
Paulie - trying again . . . Walk a little slower, Daddy, said a little child so small. I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall. Sometimes your steps are very fast, they're hard to see; So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for you are leading me. Someday when I'm all grown up, you're what I want to be; Then I will have a little child who'll want to follow me. And I would want to lead just right and know that I was true; So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you!
Paulie - ok there it is
meeha/ece/tx - Paulie -- that is beautiful!
Paulie - and you add painted foot prints to the bottom of the paper
Paulie - thanks It is not mine I jsut saved it from years ago

Paulie - my son is in Navy
Paulie - ars
Paulie - when u paint the kids' feet do it outdoors and have a dishpan of water to step into and a towel

meeha/ece/tx - hi brian!
Paulie - ckeles but they liek doing it use a paint brush to get their toes good too
brian - hello there
Paulie - tickles
brian - Is this the Navy Lark
Paulie - hi Brian
meeha/ece/tx - The other thing we do is lotion the kids' feet before they step in the paint -- makes clean-up easier.
meeha/ece/tx - hi, kindernut!
Paulie - hi Kindernut
Kindernut - HI all
Paulie - o I did not have trouble with washing kids feet they used a sponge and it went off soon
brian - I should say that my son is also in the navy aboard the USS Lake Erie steaming away from Sydney Australia at this moment.
Paulie - wow My son is at Widbey island in WA
Kindernut - I missed Paulie's poem is it on the tnet chatboard?
brian - Am I getting you all off the point?
meeha/ece/tx - I hate to chat and run, BUT ... I really do need to get some sleep. Take care, all -- it was good chatting tonite. Be sure to check out the archive for a transcript of tonite's meeting. http://www.teachers.net/archive
Paulie - oh and the firefighter son is now in Navy Reserves in San Diego -- in ocean really lol
Kindernut - no problem brian

Paulie - Kindernut it was for fathers day
Paulie - ee it in archives in a day or so
Kindernut - Hey, I'm planning on making soap for our mothers. In Mailbox just paint a sticker onto soap using nail polish (Clear)
Kindernut - OOh you guys are ahead of the game!
meeha/ece/tx - Looks like I can't logoff -- my cursor has disappeared! My name will be there for a few minutes, then it will "disappear" after I'm gone for awhile. 'ntie all.
just me - nite meeha - so nice to meet you
Paulie - Kindernut , now that is another good idea
Kindernut - I am looking for a mother's day poem to go along with the soap any ideas?
Paulie - did u post on the K board? I saw someone post there for a poem for soap
Paulie - sorry no ideas
Kindernut - I will check the archive for your good ideas - unless you have a great suggestion. Yes I posted on the chatboard
Paulie - we had about 5 other mom day ideas earlier
Kindernut - I did read a cute poem and thought I could try and be creative and adapt it
Paulie - maybe a good idea Kindernut
Paulie - Brian what r u doing for Mom's day in class?
Kindernut - When will I be able to read the archive does it go on right away?
just me - I wanted to share an idea but my kid's had the computer
Paulie - 2 days
Paulie - can send u the poem if u want
Kindernut - Share away just me
Paulie - share away
brian - sorry paulie i just came in here as i apparently have been exiled from room 1 i do not work in the classroom directly so i am not going to do much other than wish the mother's a great day as they come to school and leave on the day closest to the actual day
Kindernut - Paulie were you talking to me about sending the poem?
Paulie - exiled?
Paulie - yes Kindernut I sent you a private message
brian - banished
brian - persona non gratia (?)
Kindernut - Thanks Paulie
Paulie - why are you leaving? what do you do in the school?
Paulie - welcoem It is so hard to copy one line at a tiem in here so don't want to repeat it
brian - sorry paulie i may have misled you somewhat there on the leaving part
Paulie - oh well
brian - i maent as the mothers come and leave school dropping off and picking up there kids
Kindernut - Hey just me - would like to hear your idea
Paulie - I understood that That does not say what you are doing at school
Paulie - me too
Kindernut - Resource Teacher?
Paulie - PE coach?
Paulie - Music teacher?
Paulie - computer teacher?
Paulie - Nurse?
Paulie - Principal?
brian - Are we guessing at my role in the school?
Kindernut - Man I must babble too much - and I can type fairly well so ...Vp
just me - I make baskets out of wallpaper samples. Sometimes I do it for May day. You need a large sample. Cut an inch wide strip off of the long edge of the page. Cut two large circles out of the rest of the sample. Fold the circles in half so they look like tacos. Put one in each hand. Bring your hands together so your wrists touch so the "tacos" meet in a point. It makes a heart shape. Glue where the "tacos" overlap. Loop the strip to make a handle and glue on each side where it is glued.
Paulie - what a neat idea just me
Kindernut - Do you put anything in them or do you have a pome to go with? I think you gave clear directions but You lost me after putting the hands together and seeing a heart shape?
just me - The kids fill them with tissue paper or egg carton flowers. If they haven't cut our grass yet and it is warmer than it has been lately we sometimes fill them with dandelions.
Kindernut - Brian how about itinerent(I have poor spelling) music teacher
Paulie - hmmmmmmm
Kindernut - Oops you already guessed that Paulie
Paulie - Yes I did but this woudl not send that message lol
brian - That sounds appealing kinder but I serve as our School Counselor
Paulie - Maybe one of those clasroom advisors
Paulie - o I was not too far away
Kindernut - ahh! Do I ever have a few students for you this year Yikes! I joke if I make it to the end of the year I'll probably be in fetal position in the corner of my room
Paulie - so as a school counselor u have a Mom's day idea?
brian - Do you have School Counselors in your respective schools?
Kindernut - yes
Paulie - sure aren't they required?
brian - Every day is Mother's Day in my eyes
Kindernut - I have taught K for 4 years and this is the first year I have made referrals for a counselor
just me - It's easier to show than to tell how to do it! If you fold two circles in half and bring them together so the straight sides are on the outside and the rounded sides are on the inside it looks like a heart. Does this make sense?
Paulie - You are right Brian
brian - Well I dont wait for referrals Kinder
brian - I visit all three kinder classes once a week
Paulie - I understand your directions Just me
just me - We have a school counselor
Kindernut - Yes I was envisioning the straight sides up. Thanks
brian - formally that is
Kindernut - Oh do you visit all classes?
Paulie - poor Kindernut {{{{{Kindernut}}}}}
Paulie - Do the wallpaper sheets have to be the same color?
just me - She doesn't see kinder kids regularly but this year I've got a group with many problems and she is "on call" for me
Kindernut - Man each day I have students who don't come in after the bell or don't want to go onto the bus or one little one that easily cries and whines like an infant and in the same class strong students who read fluently - well one and about a handful of others that read many words well - I think this range is what makes it such a challenge
Kindernut - Well bye for now guys I was just popping in. I will check out your neat ideas on the archives. Chow!
Paulie - Just teaching is a challenge every day
Paulie - bye Kindernut email me
brian - just received a call and now may i ask your opinion
Paulie - we charge for answers brian
Kindernut - thanks
brian - are you expensive paulie
just me - Each basket is made from one sheet but each kid has a different sheet. I usually cut all of the pages out of a wallpaper sample book, cut of the strips for handles with the paper cutter and let the kids pick their own paper. They have to match their sample to find their handle.
Paulie - very
Paulie - so two circles from one sheet?
Paulie - go ahead Brian and ask I was just kidding
brian - did you get my pm paulie
Paulie - no
Paulie - that is a good idea for them to have to match handle to basket just me
brian - i dont think i will paulie as it is not a simple questions and would frequire a lot of background info and i just don't feel up to explaining in too much detail right now ty though
Paulie - so why bring it up?
Paulie - what is a pm?
brian - night
Paulie - oh well
Paulie - nite brian
Paulie - Just me I think your idea is adorable
just me - Yes. I try to use large samples and make the circles about 6 inches across. I've got cardboard patterns that the kids trace on the back side of the wallpaper. I demo with two patterns and stress that one has to be on each end so no starts in the middle of the paper or there would only be room for one circle.
Paulie - that sounds so neat just me
Nirvana - Paulie...well....using popsicle sticks to make frame...add pic in insert...hang!
Nirvana - what are you thinking of?
Nirvana - grade 2
Paulie - nothing I am not teaching presently
Paulie - u shoudl go t ar chives in two days and read the ideas of others earlier tho
just me - Thanks for letting me share. Glad you liked my idea. I don't want to go but I'm too tired to read and type at the same time. I'll be back again. Bye
Paulie - I even had a Fathers' day poem
Paulie - bye Just me glad u came
Paulie - the archives are good
Paulie - I guess I will go too I was here for the early chat too
Paulie - nite one and all
just me - Before I go, what do you do with/for kids who don't have a mom or dad? I've got both situations in my room.
Nirvana - sorry back....got booted
Nirvana - make them for grandparent or aunt...etc.
Nirvana - Okay..going here too...night!
