Sandy/K/MO - Welcome everyone.. tonight we are going to talk about June lessons & Activities.
barb - Yesterday, we had teacher hobby day, where all 3rd grade teachers shared hobbies with all 3rd grade classes, today students brought their hobbies to share, very successful!
Sandy/K/MO - barb, that sounds like fun.... but my computer would be WAY to much to bring in. :-)
Kathleen - Hi! Does anyone do Flag Day or Memorial Day, anything with patriotic theme?
Debbie - What is involved with the last week of school? I am a new teacher--next year will be my 1st yr.
gertie - hi everyone...i'm looking for something for father's day for kindergarten age children
Drewton - Hey there Teach, I am running a summer Club program. Swimming, crafts, and games. Fun stuff with a bit of an academic focus.
barb - sandy--one teacher brought bowling trophies, one a stamp collection she started in 3rd grade and her nesting dolls, one has a collection of sheep, and i took memory books, crossstitch, and raggedy ann/andies
cricket - last week of school? Inventories!
Kathleen - Debbie, it's pretty wild.. end of year paperwork, cumulative record folders to update, report cards, special events, etc!
Teach - I'm first grade too. And the Kinders are not very promising so I'll need to rest for the summer! :)
barb - drewton--in summer school, or on your own
Sandy/K/MO - files, putting things away... smiling Teach...
Drewton - It's a summer club, but it is connected to the school district.
Nonnie - I didn't leave, I'm still here. I taught multiage 1-2 last year. I am a network administrator in a K-5 school in VA. I still love working with primary children:)
Kathleen - gertie, I will do as I did last year: the kids paint on an 8 X 8 inch ceramic tile, glue on a felt design in a nautical theme, I hot glue rope around it.
Drewton - Most of the kids have had a few problems, but I'm hoping that won't be such an issue during the summer.
Kathleen - gertie, we use acrylic paint.
Teach - I saw a cute idea for father's using saop and string to make soap on a rope. I'm also thinking of making a picture frame using popsicle sticks.
Kathleen - Gumbo has good ideas for gifts, tell us Gumbo :-)
gertie - june is always a hectic month...work folders to complete, report cards to do..cum records to complete...kathleen...and
Drewton - Summer activities??? Nature abounds what do with it all?
Sandy/K/MO - I found the soap on a rope recipe but didn't think about father's day.. summer school
gertie - sandy..how is it done
Debbie - where did you see the soap on a rope recipe?
Sandy/K/MO - Teach we did the frame for the end of school, I printed off pictures I had taken during the year
Kathleen - Dad's grill, how about decorating an apron with handprints, fabric paint and markers?
Drewton - Has anyone used any leaf pressings? I have heard about it, but I'm new to this and haven't learned about them in any depth.
Sandy/K/MO - oh well I will have to post it, in my summer school things
Kathleen - Is the soap on a rope activity in the Lesson Bank???
Teach - On the primary elem. board
meeha/ece/tx - Drewton ... if you take the kids out on 'nature walks', have them gather 'summer treasures' (small) in paper lunch sacks, in the room put treasures on the sticky side of clear contact paper (can make frame w/construction paper), can back with construction paper, too.
Nonnie - Does anyone create summer calendars for their students that include daily activities to keep the kids' brains stimulated? I still have my disk with our summer calendar of activities from last year. If interested, I will post the info on the bulletin board
Sandy/K/MO - I got mine out of a concotion book. :-) it's a really neat book
Debbie - Thanks...I like that idea and will look for it.
gertie - kathleen..where do i look
Sandy/K/MO - on the nature walk... we had them make up a rebus story or picture using the things they found
Kathleen - Everyone: each time you have a great activity be sure to put it into the Lessons Bank http://teachers.net/lessons Urge others to do the same when they post a good activity
Teach - You just mixed soap with water till like oatmeal, put the string in, make a ball, put on wax paper and leave 24 hours.
Noelle - Is anyone in here a 6th grade teacher?
Kathleen - gertie, where do you look for what?
Sandy/K/MO - Nonnie... that will be neat.
Sandy/K/MO - mine had glycerin in it...
gertie - the soap on a rope idea
barb - nonnie--i have done the calendar in the past, this year i am giving each student a self addressed envelope and a bookmark to read and write this summer, maybe i got that idea on the chatboard
Kathleen - Noelle, kindergarten here
Sandy/K/MO - kdg. here too :-)
Noelle - Anybody a 5th or 6th or 7th grade teacher?
gertie - anyone with any other ideas for kindergarten
Kathleen - I collect stamped, self addressed envelopes from each child (4) and do summer mailings
meeha/ece/tx - you could put it in open form cookie cutters to give it an identifiable shape, too!
Kim - Preschool here.
meeha/ece/tx - gertie ... ideas for June -- school or daycare?
barb - i also took a picture of each of my students posing holding a ball, am going to frame it with caption, have a ball this summer, then i am giving each of them a little bouncing ball
Teach - Grade 1 here
gertie - kim..what do you do for father;s day
Drewton - gertie-have you ever done garbage murals?
Noelle - well thanks anyways guys :)
Sandy/K/MO - 2 cups soap flakes 1/2 cup hot water eggbeater... add food coloring gather mixture and form into shape. let dry for several days
gertie - meecha..kindergarten
Teach - Yea I forgot that tidbit about cutters. Thanks
barb - what are garbage murals?
gertie - drewton...no
Sandy/K/MO - can add glycerin, soapberries, or other smelly things :-)
Sandy/K/MO - There is a really neat book Kid's crazy concoctions
Kim - We are not in school for Father's Day. If you do a picture frame with popsicle sticks, I would let the children decorate the sticks.
meeha/ece/tx - they could make "helping hands" for dad ... trace & cut out hands (several), print 'chores' they can do to help dad around the house!
Sandy/K/MO - fun foam is great to decorate with
Drewton - garbage murals, collecting things inside i.e. paper rolls, patterned items, such as plastic webbing and then using paints to inscribe backgrounds and patterns on paper or glass
Teach - Are your schools scent free. We do not use smelly at our school.
Sandy/K/MO - nope... in fact big law suit this year about that...
Kathleen - The two traced and cut out hands on the ends of a long strip with "I love you this much" written on the strip is a nice gift of a hug for Dad
Kim - Teach, No our school is not scent free.
meeha/ece/tx - OR ... after assembly the kids could glue on small nuts & bolts, screws, etc to the picture frame!
gertie - smell free? no but we are peanut free....
Lori - I love the "have a ball"idea!
meeha/ece/tx - Kat -- we did t hat for "mothers' day", added constr. paper bodies! they turned out so cute!
Gumbo/K/La - ...glue on nuts and bolts and make card, Dad, I'm NUTS about you! :-)
gertie - kathleen...cute idea
Drewton - Does anyone use complement ciricles with kids, and have you been successful with them?
Kim - For Mother's Day we did the hand poem, with child's picture and handprint. We received many thank yous from our moms.
Teach - We have also made a tool bag card and on the different tools the kids print a chore they will do for Dad. Also I've read about making a book where the kids write about the best thing their Dad can fix and directions how to do it. Put together, make a class set and send home. as a gift for dad.
Lori - what is compliment circle? say nice things about eachother?
gertie - kim...we did the hand print and poem as well....nice idea
Sandy/K/MO - Djinn had a poem she posted hand print butterflies
Gumbo/K/La - gertie------use a craft glue to glue on the nuts and bolts......
Kim - We made a book throughout the year that we will be sending home.
Kathleen - are nuts and bolts expensive if you have to buy them?
Drewton - The circles are basically that - it is a positive dicipline exercise.
Lori - nuts/bolts won't glue very well. too heavy
meeha/ece/tx - Kathleen -- if you buy them 'in bulk' at a place like Home Depot they shouldn't be too bad! (Might even get them donated if you start now!)
Gumbo/K/La - kat--------nah.......get a lot for your money......especially the smaller ones........
Teach - Do nuts & bolts hot glue ok?
Lori - drewton, I would like to hear more about that idea
Kim - You might try washers on the frames.
meeha/ece/tx - Lori -- if you use a craft glue it will be easier ... might even have the kids put the glue on, wait a few minutes -- then set bolts/nuts on.
Sandy/K/MO - didn't someone say that home depot donated things a large part of the time at one of our other chats?
Gumbo/K/La - hot glue shouldn't be used for metal, like jewelry findings, nuts and bolts,etc.......use something like e-6000 craft glue........
Drewton - I taught on a American Indian reservation and we used the circle for everything. The idea is that we start out the day on the positive side and go around saying sincere positive things about wone another.
Kathleen - kids can't do the work if you use hot glue
Teach - Thanks for the answer.
Sandy/K/MO - we aren't supposed to have hot glue guns at school... 3 years ago a 6th grader was burnt.
Teach - Anyone done any circus activities. My are getting repetitive.
meeha/ece/tx - Sandy -- they will come to the classroom with supplies and help the kids build bird houses -- just provide a few volunteers to help out!
Lori - drewton, is that Kindergarten?
Sandy/K/MO - that's what it was :-) thanks meeha
meeha/ece/tx - TEACH -- do you do Mr. Clown?
Drewton - Has anyone done a bird bath?
Kathleen - No circus activities and no birdbath
Kim - You could also use golf tees on the frames.
Teach - I use hot glue with parents/volunteers the ones who get fingers burned.:)
Drewton - Lori- I do them with kindergarten and first graders
Gumbo/K/La - circus activities????? My class IS a circus these days.....LOL (sorry, couldn't resist!)
gertie - no for both clown and bird bath
Sandy/K/MO - mailbox had something on circus.. don't remember the year.. but I don't do circus
gertie - gumbo hee hee hee lol
Kathleen - you will tell us about the bird bath, right? :-)
Gumbo/K/La - I use a low-temp glue gun in class.......still have to remind kids not to touch nozzle........
Lori - anyone.. how do you spend the last day of school with K?
meeha/ece/tx - "Mr. Clown, Mr. Clown, you're the funniest clown in town, Quick, quick, do a trick, _______." (we use "Mrs. Clown" for the girls) when the child's name is called he/she gets to do a 'gymnastic' stunt on the mat -- my kiddos have always loved it!
Kim - If you don't want to use glue, you could decorate frames with fabric paints or put tempra in tiny bottles.
Teach - Like the golf tees idea too Thanks. What's Mr.Clown meeha?
Sandy/K/MO - Lori.. have lots of things planned
Gumbo/K/La - last day???? They watch me try to finish packing up the room and moving all the furniture to one side of the room.......
Nonnie - I was just looking in my latest issue of The Mailbox-BookBag Magazine and there is terrific book reviewed, "My Father's Hands" by Joanne Ryder. Included is a great Father's Day idea-Greeting Garlands.
meeha/ece/tx - Teach -- we just chant it (can sing it, but I can't do that in this setting!
Drewton - The bird bath has a shorter stem the usual, but the kids get to press in tile, or rocks, or designs before the cement hardens. You could maybe do it with another medium....clay?
gertie - got to go friends..son waiting for computer... thanks for the ideas...good nite
Kim - On the last day of school we always have our summer birthday party with make your own sundaes.
Kathleen - Last day is pretty much a send everything home day, survive. Earlier in the week we have a field day and family picnic
Lori - i love the last day....just a bittersweet emotional time for all the kids and me!
Kathleen - Kim, I like that summer birthday idea
Teach - Thanks meeha. never heard that one.
Sandy/K/MO - Drewton... that is neat.. would go well with outdoor classroom (science)
Gumbo/K/La - we have 3 activity days---this thurs, fri and memorial day, so the last day is just goodbye, happy summer.........
meeha/ece/tx - last day ... the kids had a pizza party, then played with each other (we left out computers, cars, tools)
Kerri - Noelle, are you the only one in the meeting thus far?
Sandy/K/MO - do you go to school memorial day Gumbo?
Drewton - Thanks Sandy, it takes a lot of work, but the payoff is there. Kids are reminded about their work and the bath is there throughout the year.
Teach - We do our summer birthdays on the first day of summer too.
Sandy/K/MO - that's cool, this year we made birdhouses for the park on our pond field trip
Gumbo/K/La - yes, sandy----never has been a holiday here.......we have our kdn family barbecue that day.......ahhhhhhhhhh
Kathleen - Nonnie, tell us about the greeting garlands
Drewton - Sandy- did you set them all up in the park, one for every student?
Sandy/K/MO - no, hubby cut out 10, worked in groups of 4, had a grandpa and aunt help them... moved around sta.
Teach - we have teddy bear picnic near the end too. Kids take best bear in with a special treat for the picnic. Do indoors if weather is bad.
Drewton - Family help! Wonderful.
natalie - On our last day we will have an awards ceremony and then a field day. Talk about a headache trying to cram it into one day
Nonnie - Last year I bought a wading pool, soil and 25 tomato plants. We planted the tomato plants early spring in the classroom and on the last day, each child brought in a large pot or coffee can and received one of the plants that they had watched grow in the classroom. I received cards, letters and email from the children in late August and September about how tall the plants were and how many tomatoes were on the vines. Hey, the kids had something to remember from our class! :) :)
meeha/ece/tx - it is always special to have family involved in activities!
Kim - Teach, do the Bears spend the night at school?
meeha/ece/tx - Nonnie -- what a neat idea!
Sandy/K/MO - hubby told me I couldn't buy a wading pool.. :-( first time he said no
Teach - At our school only grade 6's and special groups get awards, rest of us do them in our classes. Not great fun for us in the gym.
Gumbo/K/La - we're having awards every morning this week----2 grades a day........
Kathleen - APLUSstudent, welcome to our early childhood/primary meeting about June Themes and Activities
Sandy/K/MO - Teach, I am glad my kinders don't have to go to a lot of those things.. first doesn't either
Teach - Yes if they can sleep without their kid! Great idea Nonnie!
Sandy/K/MO - like the way you put that Teach :-)
natalie - How much longer do you have left in the school year? My last day is this Friday.
Sandy/K/MO - I am out :-)
Teach - Was the pool messy in the room or did you do it outdoors?
Djinn - We have 7 more teaching days. We went to chocolate factory yesterday - great fun. so we will finish out the year with 5 senses
meeha/ece/tx - me, too, Sandy! :-)
Gumbo/K/La - teachers AND students' last day june 4th----full days till the end to make up hurricane days...... :-(
Kim - Teach, I have had the bears stay all night. When the children come in the next morning the room is a mess. I even put yellow food coloring in the toilet. The children have to help clean the room! The kids loved this activity.
Nonnie - Greeting Garlands-You accordian fold the paper, cut out the hand pattern, then trace onto the top sections of the folded strip. Cut on lines leaving the folds at the pinky and thumb uncut. Unfold garld. 1st hand, write a greeting to the dad in your life, Write lov and name under the greeting. On each of the other hands kids can write a sentence(s) describing their day, for example, my dads hands work to give my family love, food and a home. Kids can decorate details on the hands (ring, watch) using markers or crayons. Its really cute.
Kathleen - [during meetings, we try to stick to the topic]
Sandy/K/MO - Kim... that's neat
Gumbo/K/La - sounds cute, nonnie
meeha/ece/tx - Nonnie -- HOW special!
Teach - Lovely touch Kim :) OK who else teaches till the end of June These count dowm in single digits are making me green with envy!!!
kerri - Natalie, last day is June 28 (with children), teacher's last day is june 30
Gumbo/K/La - teach--------making it till june 4th without going nuts is my sole mission in life these days!!!! LOL
Kathleen - June 21
Djinn - Kerri - when do you go back? are you year round?
kerri - no, not year round...we go back the Tuesday after Labour Day
Addie k/mo - we are already out!!! (but i go back tomorrow for summer school)
Sandy/K/MO - Addie.. tell us more about your garden? Does anyone else do that
Djinn - We go back August 16
Kim - Thanks! Our last day is June 3 for children and June 4 for staff.
Teach - What do you do from June 8 to 30th? I am not rude just wondering:)
meeha/ece/tx - My kiddos got to help with washing and packing the toys and equipment in the classroom -- water table got a work-out!
meeha/ece/tx - My kiddos got to help with washing and packing the toys and equipment in the classroom -- water table got a work-out!
EV - kerri, I am on year round, our last day is June 30, we have two teacher days a three day holiday and on July 6 a new class of kids.
Peachy - I like that idea, Meeha!
Kim - We go back August 25.
Sandy/K/MO - We go back Aug. 13, kids the 19
Teach - Djinn when are you out in June?
meeha/ece/tx - we finished up last Friday, go back August 3rd or 4th.
Drewton - EV: how does that go over with you and others. Never really spoken with anyone who taught all year.
kerri - I am in Ontario, Canada...our school year is somewhat different, from what I can see
Gumbo/K/La - well, gotta go work on kdn behavior and snack calendars for next year......and rest up before grocery shopping for 3 activity days.........see ya......
Djinn - Teach we are out June 4
kerri - hopefully, there were some good ideas for Father's Day earlier on (that I can catch in the archives?)
Addie k/mo - we had to pack up our whole room too, cause they were lowering the ceilings. the kids helped box everything! they enjoyed it
EV - Drewton, we hate it, it makes it hard to transfer to another school or even to move classrooms. Unfortunately, I've never taught traditional.
meeha/ece/tx - there were a few, kerri!
Sandy/K/MO - Kerri... yes there were :-)
Teach - Yes there were/are I think
Nonnie - This has been great! I must go and complete some work work before tomorrow. I have several computers to repair in the morning, plus conduct teacher training on some new software and then a meeting after school. Does it ever end!!!!!
Drewton - What else can we do for Father's Day?
kerri - thanks Sandy!
EV - I find that going off tract three times during the year is very hard on my 1st and 2nd graders. They just don't transition very well, and neither do I
Kim - My children also help clean the room. They help wash the chairs, take things off the walls, and off of the floor.
EV - Drewton, My class is making stepping stones. I read about it for mother's day but think it is a great idea for dads, especially in our suburban neighborhood.
Djinn - Ev I wondered about that - I have problems with my kids over 3 day weekends and holidays - I didn't think year round would be especially good for the little ones
Kathleen - EV, tell us about stepping stones
Addie k/mo - they enjoy it...they like feeling useful...and they are always asking if they can have this or that, that we are taking down
Sandy/K/MO - my junk became their junk.. :-)
MotorMouth - any elementary science teachers here ?
meeha/ece/tx - Don't forget to let them clean up the tables with shaving cream (if you don't pack the paint shirts too early -- as we did!)
jpm - most of my children don't have fathers except for maybe one or two out of 15 what should i do
Addie k/mo - they love that shaving cream!
EV - I got some plastic trays from the bakery (for muffins). You fill them with quick set concrete and have the kids put their handprints, I love yous, tile or shells and let it dry.
Teach - I am interested in stepping stones too.
Sandy/K/MO - You should have seen them cleaning out my sticker drawer.. :-)
meeha/ece/tx - just do it for someone special!
Addie k/mo - i'll bet they loved that, sandy :-)
Kathleen - jpm, just let them make something, even a card for someone special. no need to make it a dad's day gift
jpm - yes i thought of that a someone special day that may work..... any ideas or am i too late
Kim - We use lots of shaving cream, we color the cream with water colors.
MotorMouth - mine loving writing words in shaving cream, and it cleans desks at the same time
Peachy - Amen on the shaving cream!!
Kathleen - EV, so just a plastic tray (not muffin cups) and the cement pops out of that ok?
jpm - kathleen another good idea
Drewton - jmp-have them make family appreciation cards or crafts , or grandparents, anyone important to them? heros even?
jpm - since i work in a daycare we go all yr long
Sandy/K/MO - Ev.. are they small then?
Teach - Lots of mine are missing Dads too. We do it for granddads, unclles, step dads or mom's friends.
EV - Kathleen - unbelievable but true.
MotorMouth - you have given me a great idea to make my own stepping stones with my children's hands in them...
Sandy/K/MO - we even do it for coaches, next door neighbors
Kathleen - jpm, the hug strip: trace and cut out child's hands, attach to the ends of a strip that says, "I love you this much!"
jpm - Drewton sounds good i can't believe that out of 15 i have 2 at the most that see their dads
Kim - We use lots of shaving cream. We also color it with food coloring or food coloring.
Kathleen - EV, do you make one with each child, or more than one?
Sandy/K/MO - jpm... that's sad..
EV - The trays are about 8" x 8". You can make them bigger, they sell forms in craft stores but charge about $3.00 per form. I bought 5 trays, 10 forms (top and bottom) for a $1.00
Drewton - jmp-you can't help but feel that stuff.
jpm - thanks katleen yes it is sad and it is very interesting we are having a male sub come in on friday they can't wait
EV - One for each child
Drewton - Most of the time I feel more like a father to some of my kids than a teacher.
teach - jpm- i was talking to you and you left the other room
kerri - imagine that! my aunt lives around the corner from Storybook!!!
Kim - We use lots of shaving cream. We color the cream with water colors or food coloring.
MotorMouth - what kind of concrete do you use and does it stay the natural gray color or what?
Teach - Anyone doing sun safety in June?
jpm - Ev are these the handprint items you are talking about or something else
Charlotte - This is my first time in this room. Does anyone have any great ideas for father's day?
kinder - anyone have any backpack ideas to send home?
Addie k/mo - L8R, everyone, have to get ready for class tomorrow!
jpm - sorry teach i remembered that they had a meeting
EV - I didn't mean a muffin tray - I mean the plastic box they put the muffins in to sell them. They put 4 supersized muffins in these "boxes".
jpm - Teach we are doing summer safety i guess we could include sun safety
Sandy/K/MO - ok Ev.. was having a problem.. :-) got it now
EV - I'm going natural this way. They do have coloring - again at craft store.
Peachy - Oh!! Now I know what you mean, EV!! Great idea!
jpm - ev and the plaster is safe for little hands
meeha/ece/tx - I covered some summer safety in the last week of school -- health (water, protection from sun), strangers, fire, and WATER safety!
Djinn - Ev- this sounds like a great project! Do you just buy regular concrete?
EV - I'm excited because I've finally found a FD's gift that I can do year after year - it also fits any age group.
teach - there must be another teach- i did not type the sun safety thing
jpm - what kind of activities did you do meeha
al-IA - My son once made bird feeders out of gal milk jugs. They were really neat
meeha/ece/tx - if you live in the vicinity of a nice lake or river, you couldpick up large smooth rocks that the kids could paint for paperweights, too! :-)
EV - Yes, but there is lime in the concrete so make sure they don't spend a lot of time (which they will want to do) and have them wash their hands. I'm going to have hand lotion too for after they wash their hands.
Sandy/K/MO - remember the "pet rocks" :-)
Peachy - How were they done, al-la?
Kathleen - meeha, what kind of paint would you use? acrylic?
Teach - We did the handprints for mother but next year I think i'll do the steps as many parents are split from the kids. thanks.
kinder - I am trying to find backpack ideas to send home?
meeha/ece/tx - our last field trip was to the fire station ... activities -- mostly talk, role play, stories
Djinn - Ev- could you have them wear those thin plastic goves - like food service uses?
Sandy/K/MO - do you all have the waterless soap that you keep in your rooms?
jpm - okay jpm is confused she is going to have to check the archives i don't know what are steps
Sandy/K/MO - Kinder in the archives and in lesson exchange there are backpack ideas :-)
Peachy - I don't, Sandy.
kinder - I am wondereing about steps myself .
meeha/ece/tx - Kat ... yes, we used some acrylic, some latex -- sprayed a clear varnish (latex) over , now acting as plant markers in gardens all over TX (mom & I did it for gifts for a christmas party!) kids couldp paint free without problems!
Christie - sorry that I can't help you out, I'm just getting ready to do my student teaching
al-IA - They were just the jugs, but they had painted them and put perches around the feed holes. which were somehow punched into the sides.
Drewton - What kind of back pack ideas?
Kathleen - Christie, that's ok, you will have your turn!
meeha/ece/tx - jpm -- just come in here and click on archives (to the left (grey letters) of the screen)
Kathleen - painted rocks for paperweights is a good last minute, multi-age activity
Sandy/K/MO - lesson exchange go to primary/early childhood board.. then to lessons :-)
jpm - does anyone else teach in an all yr program looking for some good ideas space and dinosaurs i hear is very popular
Drewton - Anyone doing a summer community garden anywhere?
Peachy - Do you purchase rocks, Kat? Then paint them?
Sandy/K/MO - Drewton.. Addie did one, tried to get her to share.. watermelon and pumpkins, sunflowers
EV - Sorry guys, there is more information on this at http://www.homestead.com/godsgifttome/kids.html
Kathleen - Ev, how thick are the stepping stones you make and how heavy?
teach - jpm-what age group? i have a space unit for 3rd grade level
al-IA - Drewton, don't I wish. I think it would be a great idea. But it never seems to fly here
kinder - Drewton, backpack activities the children can take home to do with their families..
Kathleen - Peachy, I haven't done it, someone suggested it here, collecting smooth rocks from outdoors
nat/k/ma - jpm when do you get out of school? I thought most classrooms around the great USA will not be in school for Father's Day. I am shocked. We go until June 30.
jpm - no i teach preschool age 3 4 5
Drewton - Okay kinder- we did space helmets with parents.
jpm - nat where in Mass are you i teach all yr at a daycare
Drewton - al-IA we're having a DNR rep in this summer and planting saplings. it's fairly cheap.
nat/k/ma - In Boston. The great city of a hundred historical holidays that we honor to make us go late into the summer.
teach - o.k jpm- i teach k. now . i will be thinking of some more activities that i did this year with my k. group
Teach - Good night all I really enjoyed the ideas.
Sandy/K/MO - kinder.. do you want to put books/activities?
al-IA - I read an idea for the backpack activity...put the little doodads in a ziploc baggie and velour it to the folder
Sandy/K/MO - Drewton.. do you have a conservation person? That's were I get lots of things
meeha/ece/tx - Peachy -- if you live near a good river or lake, you can just pick 'em up -- otherwise you'll need to buy 'em at a quarry or other similar place!
Maria - hello
nat/k/ma - We go back to school on the Tuesday following labor day. Kids come on Sept 13.
kinder - Sandy, I am just getting started with backpack? Any ideas?
Kathleen - We have plenty of rocks in New England!
Drewton - Sandy - No, but the parks and rep board in the neighborhood offered to send in someone.
Sandy/K/MO - Jake baked the cake.. book then put in small cake mix talk about measuring, chemistry etc.
kinder - nat/k/ma we got out of school last Friday and go back August 12.
Peachy - We don't have the right kind of rocks :(
nat/k/ma - There are many, many wonderful ideas for backpacks. I can email you some if you give me your email address.
al-IA - painting rocks always seemed a bit silly to me. They pretty enough the way they are
Sandy/K/MO - kinder.... have all kinds..email me
Sandy/K/MO - back in the olden days we made them into animals/bugs :-)
Kathleen - Maria, stay now, the meeting is still going on, though scheduled for one hour
Drewton - Summer Crowns are great!Use sticks and wild flowers to wrap around the sticks and circle them. You can use all types of patterened plants.
kinder - nat/ and Sandy I just changed servers and my e-mail is messed up, but I would love ideas.
