Debbie Mc. - Hi, Jane! Congratulations!
Kathleen - Why are congrats in order?
Kinderjane - Thanks! It's a great feeling knowing that box is in San Antonio!
Debbie Mc. - I know you're feeling a great weight off today. Rest for a few days before digging in your heels for the AC.
Debbie Mc. - Jane mailed her box.
Kinderjane - I spent the morning sorting and organizing all the paperwork I've acculated on NB. I had 7-8 copies of some of my entries in various stages. To the recycle center they go!
Debbie Mc. - How's it going Kelly?
Debbie Mc. - I had lots of those kinds of things Jane. I wouldn't throw anything away until the box had been mailed.
Kinderjane - Kelly- Did you get a video? I hope the answer is "yes a great one!".
Kinderjane - Debbie- I saved all of my entries that others had read and commented on. I think that will help me when I read for others. I had each entry read by 3-4 people!
Debbie Mc. - That's a good idea Jane. Mine were not read by anybody before I sent them. I sure wish I had known about this ring.
Kinderjane - That is exciting about an NB chatboard. Did she say EC-GEN or general.
Debbie Mc. - EC-Gen. Maybe I'll be able to get on that one.
Kelly - Sorry folks, my daughter and I were instant messaging as this chat began....I'll post to the ring about the offer from Kathleen - it stems from me complaining to her about the problems we have with the onelist.com chatroom....
Kinderjane - Hey Jo! Are you working on NB certification?
Debbie Mc. - That's great Kelly. You always come through for us.
jo - why do we need a chatboard at teachers.net? We have this, our onelist, and the NB site? Rose
Kelly - Jane, the good news is that I have a video. The bad news is that I have MORE than one I could use! But I think I've finally picked which to use!
Debbie Mc. - I can't get on the nightly chat at onelist. Don't know why, but I'm really feeling left out every night at 9:00 central.
Kinderjane - Kelly- When it rains, it pours! Wish I could watch them with you and offer an opinion!
Debbie Mc. - Did you decide on the morning meeting one?
Kelly - jo (are you Rose?) - I'm not crazy about the way the chatboard runs here.....but I'm not completely familiar with it, either. I"ll have to check it out and let everyone know. Debbie - I can't get in there anymore either! We'll see about switching to over here.....I just can't deal with it all right now! :)
Kelly - Debbie - no, I'm going with a discussion about how we were going to go about doing our daily observations of our butterfly larvae....
Debbie Mc. - And you don't need to Kelly. Worry about getting that entry written and visiting with Ryan. Everything else can wait.
Debbie Mc. - That video sounds good.
Kelly - So far right now we have services available at both onelist.com and here!
Kinderjane - Kelly- be sure when you write it up to tie it to the goals. I've been reading entries for people who are desperate enuf to want a rookie. Many have good descriptions of videos, but do not tie to the goals.
Kelly - Debbie - you're stuff is REALLY helping. I had to get the oil changed today, and I sat in the waiting room jotting things all over the pages I had printed out that you sent! Wrote down everything I could think of from my classroom for each thing you listed! It'll help a LOT!
Debbie Mc. - Good. It's nice to know that I can do something to help you. I'm so grateful for what you've done and being a friend too. How much more can you ask for?
Kelly - Jane - I know you're exactly right. I have kept thinking, though, that any one 10 minute segment can't possibly show all of that! (unless it's staged!) :)
Kelly - Debbie - well, if anyone has any spare points they want to throw my way that would be nice! I only need 19! :)
Debbie Mc. - That's right Kelly. All you can do is make sure your write up shows that and what your video does include-tie that to them.
Debbie Mc. - I wish I could.
Kinderjane - Kelly- It says you only have to tie to one of the goals. I wrote about anything I saw that tied to either.
Kelly - Debbie - yes - that's what I'm on my way to doing! I'll have something to send you by later this evening! :)
Debbie Mc. - Whenever you're ready, Kelly. I'm here waiting.
Kelly - Jane - you're right - I'm writing down ANYTHING I can that ties to the goals and the standards! :)
Kay - I have a quick question, then I have to go. It just started to storm here.
Kay - In one of my artifacts for Entry 1, my student wrote "AFrica is not like North Carilina is a big diffrence." I hope I don't have to white this out and put in {our state}. What do you guys think?
Kelly - Kay - I wouldn't worry about it. Those things happen, and NB isn't going to punish you for it! :)
Debbie Mc. - Kay, I agree with Kelly. Don't worry about it.
Kinderjane - Kay- I would not worry about that. these are teachers like us. Not someone "out to get " us.
Debbie Mc. - Amen, Jane. Remember they are looking for evidence in your teaching. They won't punish you for things like that.
Kay - GREAT!!!! It is a really neat example from a student who doesn't usually make these kinds of connections. I really didn't want to alter it in any way.
Kelly - They just don't want you to open your video with Hi, I'm so and so from such and such a school in such and such a town, etc.! :)
Debbie Mc. - I am mentoring an Ex. Needs candidate in my school. Her portfolio is due in June and she has final entries for 4 and 2 rough drafts. Isn't that great? She is on the ball.
Kinderjane - We are heading out to dinner. Kelly, if you want another reader (novice), send it my way! I've read 8 community entries for others since I mailed my box. Wed. This must be the one plenty of people put off til last.
Kinderjane - Will we be here next week? I think we need to have a big party here!
Kay - Kelly, I would also be willing to read your entry. Like Jane, I'm a novice, but I feel pretty good about this one.
Kelly - We'll keep this time indefinitely...between the AC and then a fresh class of "newbies"....this is ongoing!
Kelly - Kay - that's great - I'm jotting down names! What's your email?
Kinderjane - Yeah! Bye ya'll. See you next week.
Debbie Mc. - Bye Jane. And I'm sorry I didn't get your e-mail about your entry in time.
Kelly - Anybody have any questions?
Kay - Gotta go..storm's getting closer and I have a paragraph to add to Entry 1 before 5pm. Have a great week, everyone:-)
Kelly - MC-GEN is Middle Childhood Generalist. EC-GEN is EArly Childhood Generalist. They are both areas of certification for National Boards.....
Debbie Mc. - Kelly, I'm glad to know that you're getting a lot of input on your entry. The more people who read it the more tips you can get.
Kelly - I'm going to send the "final" rough draft out to about 6 (now 8!) folks. But I know you're going to help me part by part! :)
Debbie Mc. - Is Virginia reading for you?
Diana - I'm finishing up my community entry this weekend. I have a couple of questions about the relection on the videotape.
Kelly - Debbie - Virginia has said over and over that she would. I'm afraid to send it to her now, though, because she's sort of begged off on the list. However, I might send it with a note that I understand if she can't. She has said repeatedly - even after sarying no more - that she would.
Diana - Kelly, which entry are you working on?
Debbie Mc. - Okay, Diana.
Kelly - Diana - you named it! Community!
Diana - The prompt says: How does the interaction on the videotape reflect ways you strive to meet a portion of one of the two goals given above?
Diana - Oh Kelly, maybe we can help each other!!!
Debbie Mc. - I think she would. Let me send her an e-mail quickly and ask. I'll be right back.
Diana - Here's my question: Is it sufficient to say something like The Morning Meeting in the videotape begins with a song followed by a greeting which is passed around the circle. This was to allow children to practice the social skills of greeting others, listening, and responding? Or do I have to say I addressed the first goal by.....
Diana - Kelly, how far along are you on community?
Kelly - Diana - as a banker, I'm certainly not an expert....but I'm going with something about "I addressed the first goal by...".......I want to spell it out as clearly as I can!
Bettye - Hi! I'm trying to pack up and get to FedEx before 5:00. I have 6 labels with NBPTS address and my return address. Where do they go?
Diana - This entry has been the hardest for me. I was surprised because I am very proud of the way I promote community and social skills in my classroom.
Diana - Bettye, I think you are supposed to have labels left over. However some of those go on the box.
Kelly - Diana - Haven't started really writing the reflection yet....the other parts are in varying stages of completion!
Kelly - Bettye - yes, you will have extra labels.....drove me nuts that first year!
Diana - Kelly, do you like your video?
Bettye - What do I do with the 6 NBPTS address labels that have my return address on them? Help
Kelly - Bettye - just double (triple? quadfuple???) check to see that you DID put one in each spot they were supposed to!
Diana - Wish I was packing today. I'm aiming for packing tomorrow and mailing Monday, but this last 3 pages is not going well. Guess I'm tired.
Kelly - Diana - I have had a terrible time getting a video! But I know which one I'm going to use.....now just have to pick out exactly which 10 minutes to use from it....
Bettye - Thanks, ya'll. I think I posted the same question twice. Gotta go, on my way to FedEx!
Diana - Here's a sample sentence from my reflection: At this meeting, we used the Spanish greeting, buenos dias which had been taught to us earlier by Shanelle who is bi-lingual. This was to show the children that we valued Shanelle's native culture. Is that clear enough, or do I need to specifically tie it to the particular goal?
Kelly - Diana - sounds good to me!
Debbie Mc. - Sounds good to me Diana. The assessors will look for the evidence.
wende - I'm working on literacy and still trying to pick between A & B
Melody - Ugh! I SHOULD be revising my entry, but I just wanted to poke my head in here!
wende - I don't have good dictations
Diana - Kelly, I also had a terrible time getting a video. I kept trying to do what I thought NBPTS wanted me to do, and it wasn't right for my class. Finally, I realized how stupid I was. I just used a typical morning meeting which included a part where the kids passed a ball and practiced using "nice talk." That was as close to a discussion as I could get.
Melody - Hello, everybody! I'm having trouble cutting! Used Ariel 10 pt.....looks really pretty.....then tried Garamond 10 pt. LOOKS SO SMALL!
wende - I just read that Susan in NC sent her box, and found out her hubby has colon cancer :(
Diana - Sorry, I lost my connection for a minute. Debbie, what did you say about my sample reflection?
Melody - Did anybody here use artifacts with Entry 3?
Debbie Mc. - Melody, can you condense any of your sentences. Remember they won't give points for eloquence. Get to the point.
Debbie Mc. - I said it sounds good to me Diana. The assessors will be looking for the evidence.
Melody - Good idea! I'll try to not be VOCIFEROUS!
Kelly - I'm going to throw something out here that I read on the "other" EC-GEN mailring (EC-GEN-NBC@onelist.com). SOmeone there posted that you could get extra room by setting the double space to 1.85 instead of 2.0.......I don't know if that might be detected......so I didn't post that to our mailring....but think about if you want to try it. Anybody know anything about that?
Diana - Mel, I thought I would have to go to Arial Narrow, but I managed to get everything under control with a little revising.
Melody - Okay, people, which font and which size? I'm taking a survey!!
Kelly - Melody - WOW - I'm impressed - vociferous! :)
Diana - Debbie, so you're saying that I don't have to keep quoting the goals?
wende - ariel 10 or 10.5, depending on the entry
Debbie Mc. - I used New Times Roman.
wende - oops, arial - I'm a Disney nut!
Diana - I used 10 pt Times New Roman for everything.
kscally - Kelly: I got to Mary's for my appointment on Wednesday, but she thought it was Tuesday. She wasn't home. I think she is tired. She is supposed to return to work April 16th.
Debbie Mc. - No, Diana. You don't have to keep quoting the goals. That's taking up space. The assessors are trained (4 days) to look for your evidence.
Melody - Gee, I never thought of fractions! 1.85 line spacing and 10.5 point font! You guys are creative!
Diana - Thanks Debbie. That simple point was making me crazy. Now I'll have no trouble getting it to fit in 10 pages either. :)
Debbie Mc. - wende, about those artifacts. Analyze them. Length won't matter.
Kelly - Kathy - I think she's tired, too. She's going to really be stressed out when she's back teaching! She called me a week ago, but I don't feel like I want to bother her.
Melody - Vociferous, pontificating, blabbing off at the mouth......I can do it all!
Debbie Mc. - You mean b.s., right Melody.
Diana - Sorry to pick your brains and run, but I've got writing to do. Thanks for the help. Good luck with community Kelly. You too Mel - isn't that what you're working on?
Kelly - Mel - I'd really be careful about the 1.85, though......that's why I didn't post that information on the ring. I don't want anyone to use that and then have some part of their entry deemed unscoreable!
Melody - RIGHT !
wende - she's been a pretty good writer since january, so I think I'll do option B - is that OK for kinders if they can write words and sentences?
Debbie Mc. - Good luck Diana.
Melody - I'll print out a few test pages....have a look
Diana - G2Go Thanks again.
Melody - Bye Di
Debbie Mc. - Yes it's okay for kinders. It's how you write about it that makes the differences.
Melody - Bye Di
Kelly - Bye Diana - good luck!
Melody - Was that Diana Triplett?
Debbie Mc. - Ladies, I can't get over how much I have to be thankful for!
wende - good. Ifell better writing about her writing, and not was SHE says about her writing. She's quiet and shy, and doesn't give much variety in her dictations.
Kelly - Melody - I don't know....
Melody - Another survey: did you include artifacts in Entry 3?
Debbie Mc. - Wende, just analyze, analyze, and reflect.
wende - and not what she says...oops
Debbie Mc. - Last year, we couldn't use artifacts.
wende - Yes, I added a postcard my mascot sent from the library over Xmas holidaydn't
Kelly - I'm not including artifacts - unless I end up doing a transcription of the tape....
Melody - Yeah, I remember! Had a "brainstorm" in the wee hours of this morning to include Classroom Rules and Daily Schedule and another one. What do you think?
wende - our video was about where he would spend the vacation...so I included the postcard he sent to all the students while there to go along with my community write up.
Kelly - Melody - my understanding is that artifacts in entry 3 are not scoreable and completely optional......so I"m "opting" not to send any! :)
Melody - Since Rules and Routines are the topic, they were student generated, they hang on the walls and are referred to often...........
Melody - Yeah, I guess artifacts can't count AGAINST you, and since they were cute, I thought, well, maybe it wouldn't hurt!!
wende - go for it!
Debbie Mc. - I would send them if they helped or added to the picture we are presenting of our classroom, if not it won't do any good to send it. You won't get extra points for sending in one unless it adds to your commentary.
Kelly - Melody - I think you're right - they're good to add! I just am not beating up on myself because I don't have any!
Melody - Up until today, I had not thought of the list of Rules nor the Daily Schedule (routines)
wende - I would think they'd make that a requirement - to include the rules and routine/schedule
Melody - The Daily Schedule is really cute.....has clocks to show the times, a picture of the activity, then the real word
Melody - And somebody posted ( a long time ago ) some really cute rules.....only like 4 or 5 which is great for my pre-Kinder
Debbie Mc. - wende, it is a requirement. It's in the question.
Debbie Mc. - Hi, Nancy.
Melody - My third artifact is a drawing from one student.....actually happened as a follow up to the video, so don't know if it really qualifies....
Kelly - Debbie - required to talk about them - but not to add an artifact about them, right?
Nancy - Hi!
wende - I know that!! :) I mean a copy of what you hang like Melody is sending
Melody - The artifacts are completly optional
Debbie Mc. - Right. The artifact would only be helpful it if adds to "your picture". Right Nancy?
Kelly - Hi Nancy - what are you working on?
Debbie Mc. - I'll consider myself hugged :)
Melody - Ijust think .....gotta get a 4.0.......gotta get.....
Nancy - NOTHING!!!! I am sending "the box" on Monday
Debbie Mc. - Melody, why do you have to have a 4?
Nancy - I still can't seem to relax - got the AC on my mind.
Melody - It's personal.......banker pressure!!
Debbie Mc. - Do you have to have the four to have the total points?
Kelly - Debbie - thanks - I just went over and read the email. You're unbelievable! :)
Melody - All I needed last year on Entry 3 was a 2.75, can you believe it? And I would have PASSED!
Debbie Mc. - You know, last year I didn't think about 3s or 4s. I just wanted to pass. See, the less I knew the better off I was.
Nancy - My partners and I are already planning what we will start working on next year - in the event we don't make it
Kelly - Well, for me this time it's either a 3.6 or higher - or another year of banking! But truthfully, all I really want is to keep getting better! That's all I'm in this for!
Debbie Mc. - Melody, I'll help you all I can. Let me know if you need me to do anything.
Melody - I only need to raise my score on Entry 3 to that, 2.75.....but of course won't know in time for AC. So, for "insurance" am redoing two lowest scores there cuz I'm fairly sure I can do better this time!
Melody - Dearest, Darling Debbie Mc......wanna read Entry 3? :-)
Kelly - Melody - did you have the outlines and stuff from the ring last year (for the AC)?
wende - I'm going to write some more, bye!
Debbie Mc. - Sure I'll read it. I'm down to having none and I'm having withdrawl symptoms.
Melody - Nope! No ring last year! What a Godsend for this year!!
Melody - Post partum blues! How I'd love to feel them!
Kelly - Melody - just WAIT until you see the help you're about to get for the AC! :) You're in like Flynn!
Nancy - Kelly - I can't wait! I had a BAD dream about AC last night
Debbie Mc. - She's right Melody. That really helped me certify last year.
Kelly - Okay folks, I"m going to go back to my entry. Thanks for all the wisdom, cheerfulness, encouragement, etc......I really do appreciate it! See you all on the ring! :)
Melody - Believe me, I'd love to ACE this puppy! Once knocked down, I come back like a fury!
Debbie Mc. - That and having lessons prepared for every math strand and science misconception. But guess what? Ileft my notes for play at home and that ended up being my highest score.
Debbie Mc. - Okay Kelly, back to writing for you. Good luck and my prayers are with you.
Debbie Mc. - Watch out Nancy. Take care of that box.
Nancy - Bye! - Don't worry - the box is always with me.
Melody - We had good info from my support group, but some bad feelings interferred, I was too hyped up for the test, then the first question was about something I had NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE!
Debbie Mc. - Isn't that Kelly something? I just love her to pieces.
Melody - Kelly is great! You ALL are great!
Debbie Mc. - Ouch Melody. That must have been a surprise.
Melody - Do you remember math? It was my first exercise
Melody - I literally sat there and froze. What was I going to do??
Debbie Mc. - Yes, I remember Math. I just happened to have lessons on that strand prepared or the one I was asked.
Melody - They are for "multiple representation" and I'll be darned if I knew what that was!
Melody - We had Number Sense
Debbie Mc. - Melody, I would be very careful what I said.
Melody - Nancy, are you here too?
Debbie Mc. - Remember this archive is available to candidates on the ring.
Melody - OOps! Did I goof?
Debbie Mc. - No, you didn't give anything away. Just be careful. This would be better discussed off the chatroom.
Melody - Oh, yeah, I forgot. Sorry. Well, I have been told this year's questions would be different.
Debbie Mc. - They do change them and give different ones to different candidates.
Melody - Well, I just hope that I can really do better at the AC. I'm sure I can.
Debbie Mc. - What are you redoing at the AC
Melody - Using Assessment Info (2nd grade reading) and Analyzing Children's Work Samples (1st grade science)
Melody - I got too taken up with the subject matter and missed the main point, ie: Using the info to evaluate.
Debbie Mc. - I really had problems going back and looking at the screens in the Assessment Info one. It took a lot of time to do that and I was jotting down what I could so I woldn't have to remember so much.
Debbie Mc. - But, overall my AC scores were higher than portfolio.
Debbie Mc. - But I just wrote from my teaching background. It really is better if you can do that.
Melody - Yeah, me too! I just kept cursing under my breath that they should have given us printed out info for that! It wasn't a test of our memory, and in some places, it turned out to be just that.
Debbie Mc. - That's true, but this year, you'll know to spend a few minutes jotting down notes so you won't have to do that.
Melody - Yes, I think this year I'll be prepared to do that. My portfolio scores would have carried me, if only I'd gotten the 2.75 in Community
Debbie Mc. - Well, you've probably learned this year and I have learned by reading entries and being on the list.
Melody - Yes, and I will prepare BRIEF notes outlining lessons. Like for Science. Why didn't I just study first grade stuff? What a fool
Debbie Mc. - I did have notes on the misconceptions children have in the science area. I just tried to be indepth. It paid off. Just preparing the notes paid off.
Melody - Is it helpful, like for first grade science, to learn the topics they cover in that grade level, from a State Framework or Curriculum guide, and just study those themes?
Debbie Mc. - I think so. I studied my series and used some things off the ring.
Melody - I received the book Doing What Scientists Do and there is a chapter on analyzing children's work!
Debbie Mc. - That's great Melody. It's bound to help.
Melody - Like the Big Ideas, I need to focus through a certain lens what subject I'm looking at! :-)
Debbie Mc. - Are you mailed, writing, or packing?
Debbie FL - Mailed thank GOD
Debbie Mc. - Congratulations, Debbie.
Debbie FL - what about you two
Melody - I joined 45 minutes late! Almost kept my promise to myself, but in a moment of weakness, logged on! Glad I did!!
Debbie Mc. - Dyzz, are you a candidate for National Board Certification?
Debbie Mc. - I am thankful to say, I certified last year.
Melody - Ooooh, Debbie FL, your is mailed! Lucky you!
Dyzz - Hi, does anyone know where I could go to find some good resources for teaching poetry?
Debbie FL - I am a banker
Melody - Poetry, hmmmm, what grade level?
Debbie Mc. - I have no idea, Dyzz unless you do a search on "using poetry in the ? grade classroom.
Melody - Debbie FL--what did you bank/redo ?
Debbie FL - SS Community 2 AC'sto go
Melody - Dyzz - rhyming words? Rhythm?
Debbie FL - Melody are you a banker as well
Melody - Yes, I am redoing Entry 3 on Comm
Melody - Oh, redoing two AC too, just for "insurance" purposes :-)
Debbie FL - yes
Debbie FL - I need 49 points
Melody - How many points away, if I may ask?
Melody - Opps! You answered before I asked!
Debbie Mc. - Which two ACs are you doing?
Debbie FL - and you
Melody - I need 20. Scored a 1 on this entry last year; 2.75 times 12 would give me 21 more points.
Debbie FL - I scored an 8.75 terrible I guess I didn't have a clue
Melody - All four AC scores were low to mid 2s, so I'm really hoping I've improved above that!
Melody - What is an 8.75?
Debbie FL - sorry i mean .875 lowest
Debbie Mc. - This year you'll both have some idea of the format, so maybe you will be able to concentrate on the questions and what you know.
Melody - Oh, yes, I get it.
Debbie FL - do you feel better about the entry this time I do
Melody - Yes, I feel strong about Entry 3--but I really want to nail it! I don't want to just pass! I want SUPER SCORE!
Debbie FL - do either of you have any info on the 2nd grade reading part of the assessment?
Melody - (Has all this affected my brain, you guys? I sound crazy!)
Debbie Mc. - Melody, you're still certified with 275 or 400!
Melody - Debbie FL - supposedly a TON of info is coming our way AFTER April 17, so stay tuned!!
Debbie FL - Yes you will Melody and you should shoot for a 4 I did hopefully
Debbie Mc. - No, I was just telling Melody that I lost time looking back at the assessment information on the student. But we have to be careful what we say about it. This chat is available to candidates to read.
Melody - I know, Debbie Mc, I know, I'll just slink back into my hole. BUT I STILL REALLY WANT TO NAIL IT !
Debbie Mc. - Melody, I think that's a great attitude.
Melody - Great, or neurotic? :-) Luv you!
Melody - Debbie Mc - thanks a MILLION. I'll be in touch!!
Melody - Where do you live, Debbie Mc?
Debbie Mc. - WEstern Kentucky. No other certified teachers close by.
Melody - We're having such pretty weather every weekend, I could scream! Really wish it would rain! So much more conducive to studying!!
Debbie Mc. - Is your AC date set?
Melody - My AC date is Flag Day!! June 14!! I'm off track in three weeks - off May and June, how convenient??
Debbie Mc. - My AC date was the Saturday before our school was out for the summer. Everything was still fresh in my mind. May 22.
Melody - I'm pretty sure I will be able to focus, and breathe, when I get this box off!!
Debbie Mc. - You will but remember to take a few days off to rest. Studying for the AC isn't quite so weary on the brain.
Debbie Mc. - Hi, Lois! Is the baby mailed yet.
lois - Hi everyone!! It's packed and will be mailed on Monday!!!! :)
Debbie Mc. - Congratulations!
Melody - I'm already starting to smile again, and just appreciate AIR
Melody - OOOoooooo, Lois, let me give you a squeeze! Congrats!
Debbie Mc. - I love spring and summer. It took me about a week to recuperate after the AC last year. I did absolutely nothing at home.
Melody - I'm hoping to "iron" out my wrinkles today and tomorrow, do little stuff Monday; then mail Tues or Wed.
Debbie Mc. - I hope your ironing and mailing go as planned.
Melody - Me too. I was "dead meat" after this thing! Didn't touch the computer for months!
Debbie Mc. - When November rolled around I was really ansy.
Melody - Of course, don't forget, I GOT MARRIED June 9th in Hawaii and then had a BIG LUAU reception in August in our backyard! I don't recommend mixing NB with nuptials!
CaddyJoy - I had a question about ss/Art
Melinda - Have you turned in your box?
Melinda - Go ahead, I don't know if I can help but I'll try.
CaddyJoy - no, I am going to do it Monday. Have you?
Melinda - Monday is what I am hoping to do! It is taking me forever to get forms together etc. to get it off. I am also still revising and revising and revising!!!
CaddyJoy - I am finished with ss except I left a question and I am going back to answer it. WHAT METHODS DID YOU USE TO DETERMINE THE OVERALL EGGECTIVENESS OF THE LEARNING EXP???
crazed - Have you gys started obssessing about the assesment center yet?
Melinda - I have a question about Entry 6, can I use the same child's "stuff" for more than one artifact if it was sent to every home?
CaddyJoy - YESSSS!!!! I 'm just ready to be finished with the BOX!!!
Melinda - I think they are talking about your ongoing assessment Caddy Joy
CaddyJoy - I don't really know the answer. Melinda but I would think so. Why not?
CaddyJoy - crazed Have you mailed yet?
crazed - I am ENL but I take the middle generalis t assesment at the center. Oh what fun. I hope you guys keep meeting as we get closer to that.
crazed - Caddyjoy- Mine is not due til June because I got it in late dec.
Melinda - I took the day off yesterday and my roommother came over with the box from under her child's bed so I have mostly his communication home, but it went to all my students, I just don't have any one else's. What do you think?
CaddyJoy - What are you using it for? Entry six but what is the acc.?
crazed - I think that would be powerful to show your ongoing communication. Do you have any examples such as newletters etc. That went to the clas in general?
Melinda - I got mine early Dec. but unfortunately it is still due!!!
crazed - I know for the communications they are looking for follow up etc between teacher and parenta as it relates to child's learning.
crazed - Well guys I am now taking a break from my six hours at the computer and my husband is treating me to a movie. I will talk with you guys next week. KEEP THE FAITH!!!! I know you wil all be successful!
CaddyJoy - Entry 6 is supp. to show sign in students learning
Melinda - Well I am going to cut it short today, I have a million things to do. I even forgot my own sister's birthday today!!! She had to remind me. I'm feeling a little self-absorbed!
CaddyJoy - I used a newsletter thing I send every week with skills and objectives to parents and a place for commente 2-way
CaddyJoy - Me too I need to write. Nice to talk to you bye
Melinda - I have those, but after they sign them I give their portfolios to the parents at conferences that's where I messed up and did not keep them!
crazed - Cadddy is that a question or a sttement. Yeah I guess the big thing is how does your communication effect student learning. Such as I give weekly updates of state standards and then provide examples of how parents can help student sreach the objectives through informal activites. IYYou can
Melinda - Thanks for the advice! I'll be talking a little calmer this time next week!
CaddyJoy - You bet Joy thanks also
