Patrice in KY - Hi lynn
Patrice in KY - how goes the NB trek?
Patrice in KY - all is quiet on the nb front today
msdtchr - I am a 2002-03 Candidate
Patrice in KY - lynn,msdtchr...what is your NB status
Patrice in KY - Welcome msdtchr to the wonderful world of NB
Patrice in KY - I will officially become a CIW on Friday.
msdtchr - what is a CIW?
Vicki - Hello, all. I'm taking my AC June 7 and will join Patrice in being a CIW.
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, do you have your box yet?
msdtchr - not yet
Patrice in KY - VICKI!!! We enter CIW at the same time.
Vicki - msttchr--Candidate in Waiting
Vicki - I'm dreading it on the one hand and can't wait for it to be over on the other hand!
msdtchr - my state requires we go through certain classes and then apply-- they help with funding then
Vicki - I've been reading Piaget and Erikson all day and BADLY needed a break.
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, a CIW has completed the process and now must hurry up and wait
Patrice in KY - I am with you, Vicki...I am ready to do it and start the waiting
msdtchr - I bet you know those stages of deveelopment inside upside down and backwards.
Patrice in KY - I talked to a friend who just did the ac and she said STOP studying...it is very practical
Vicki - Patrice--I'm the Vicki in Oxford, Mississippi. I think we communicated a month or so ago. And yes, I guess I know the stages, msdtchr, but I feel right down there in the preoperational stage myself.
Patrice in KY - msdtchr...what state requires the classes. wen do you end up with the box
Patrice in KY - yes, Vicki! I remember
Vicki - Patrice, I've heard the same advice but I've never taught anything below second grade so I feel sort of insecure about young kids.
Kelly M - Hi everybody!
Patrice in KY - My son ended up deciding to go to law school in Ohio...so no Ole Miss in our future
Patrice in KY - Hi Kelly
msdtchr - are the boards really hard, compared to a masters program and masters comps?
Vicki - Well, considering our 95 degrees today, I wonder why anybody would live in Mississippi!
Kelly M - Vicki - I think it's good to look over areas or grade levels that you are not feeling really confident about....but the ones that are close to what you do all day every day I don't think you really need to 'study' for!
Patrice in KY - I think you will be fine Vicki....you probably have had a second grader that you met needs at a lower level before...think about that child
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, the nb process is the most challenging thing I have ever done...and the most rewarding
msdtchr - remember sensorimotor stage-- is like exploration
Vicki - I agree, Kelly. I've barely looked at social studies or science except to refresh myself about the standards. If I can't say something intelligible about 2nd and 3rd graders by now, I never will.
Vicki - msdtchr, after doing this, I would think a couple of grad courses would be EASY!
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, where are you from?
Vicki - Patrice, don't you teach K?
msdtchr - I just finished my masters and am considering a specialist or a doctoral, but I want the nb before that.
msdtchr - I am from Georgia
Patrice in KY - yes
Kelly M - Vicki - and the best part is, you just have to be barely intelligent in your writing at the AC!
Vicki - I can hardly think of anything they would ask at the AC on K math other than one-to-one correspondence or maybe measurement. What do you think?
Vicki - I'm barely intelligent anywhere so I should fit right in at the AC!
Patrice in KY - I had a brief panic moment this a.m. when I realized a three part question means ten minutes of typing for a response.
Kelly M - Vicki - trust me, they could ask you from any of the strands. And, as a matter of fact, they've hit them all at one time or another!
msdtchr - concerning your portfolio, when can you start compiling things?
Kelly M - Hi MHK - how are you?
Patrice in KY - Vicki....I don't know...so much more. Algebraic principals with patterns, geometric principles with shapes
MHK (FL) - Has anyone heard of computer "freeze ups" at the assessment centers? I heard last night there was one in Tampa!!! I hope it doesn't happen when I go on the 12th!!
Kelly M - msd - right away! Start digging out all of your previous professional accomplishments. ... like workshops attended/given..any awards, etc. Even if you end up not using them all, it's better to go ahead and start pulling out all of your possibilities!
Vicki - Patrice, could a K do much with patterns other than a-b-a-b or maybe a-b-c-a-b-c?
Patrice in KY - msdtchr...whatever you use will need to directly touch your students in a significant way
MHK (FL) - Kelly, I'll be great after June 12th!!
Kelly M - MHK - sure, those things have happened. If so, try to stay calm, get the center's administrator, and be sure to get everything documented and get in touch with NBPTS immediately.
msdtchr - what about published articles?
Patrice in KY - MHK...I heard of that happening once last year
msdtchr - I have all that. Thanks.
msdtchr - Lessons, materials and such.
Patrice in KY - yes, msdtchr...if it had an impact on students
Vicki - MHK--I'll be taking my AC in Tupelo, MS and they had one last year. The person didn't get to test that day and had to go through a lot of red tape with NBPTS to reschedule. It is my worst nightmare!
MHK (FL) - Kelly, I'm trying not to think about it, but it's just one more thing and I'm going to the same center!!
Kelly M - msd - sure! that would be great! but remember....everything you are going to document as an accomplishment makes no difference at all to NBPTS unless you can tie it back to your students....how does what you did help them?...everything has to tie back to student achievement....
msdtchr - most of my stuff does
Patrice in KY - OH TUPELO.....my old stomping grounds
Kelly M - msdteacher, are you on our mailring?
Kelly M - MHK - just remember that there have been isolated instances....but tens of thousands who have made it through without a glitch!
msdtchr - yeah, I am on a NB mailring
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, as a wise friend on this ring once said, "Even if you are the King of England, NB doesn't care, unless it has made a significant impact on children."
MHK (FL) - Thank you Kelly!!! Maybe they have it all worked out and it won't happen again.
Vicki - msdtchr, I have a friend who has assessed in the past and, when reading my entry 4, she said that of all my documentation, a letter from a parent thanking me for changing my instruction to help her child and rescheduling my instruction to the morning rather than the afternoon was the best documentation I had. In other words, proving that you communicate with and respond to parents to improve student instruction is the best documentation of all.
Patrice in KY - MHK.....you will fly through. `
msdtchr - I guess a letter of recommendation to my superintendent discussing what I did for their child will work right?
Kelly M - I have to go. I just wanted to drop in and see if anybody needed to sign up or anything. I'll see you all on the ring! Have a good week...and good luck with the AC!
msdtchr - from a parent that is.
MHK (FL) - Thanks Patrice!! You are so sweet!! I need to read and review again this weekend. I'm not sure I can fit anything more into my head!! PLUS my kids at school have been wild!!! The end is in site!!!
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, that would work...but a letter to you is just as solild
Patrice in KY - when do you get out MHK
msdtchr - I have that too.
Vicki - Our school was out last week. I don't think I could study and teach at the same time. The portfolio totally wiped me out!
aggieb - Hi
Vicki - Hi,
Patrice in KY - My last day was Wednesday...but we have had company since then. Today has been my first chance to look over thinkgs
Patrice in KY - hi aggie
Vicki - Aggie, when do you go to the AC?
aggieb - hi Patrice, and everyone
msdtchr - we got out Tues
aggieb - I am scheduled for the 12
Patrice in KY - This time next week I will be enjoying a quick get away with my husband post AC
Vicki - I'm June 7. What are you studying?
aggieb - msdtchr,, won't you have to use outreach to parent infomation for this year
aggieb - i mean school year 2002-2003
Patrice in KY - I read back over the standards this a.m.
msdtchr - there is no date on the letter
aggieb - I am going to really did in my standards also
Vicki - Patrice, do you mean the NB standards?
Patrice in KY - good point aggie...the parent communication will be an interesting situation with the staggered schedule
Patrice in KY - yes, Vicki. It really did bring to mind what I did during the portfolio time
aggieb - But it should be from the class of students that you teach this year 2002-2003 check your guidelines
msdtchr - it is.
aggieb - so you have started school for 2002-2003 already, cool
msdtchr - no, but I will have the same students I had last year.
Patrice in KY - I have been told by several to reread my entires. I have them in my safe and sword I would not pull them out until the scores came back. I may have to change my thinking on that.
Patrice in KY - still, msdtchr, if the letter was from this school year you might consider asking the parent to write a letter for you this upcoming year.
Vicki - Patrice, I have heard the same advice. I know what you mean about not wanting to look at them again but especially for science and social studies, I think they would be useful.
aggieb - I don't knw what to study anymore,, I am watching science videos
Patrice in KY - msdtchr, your other areas in entry 4 include a five year span.
msdtchr - okay.
Patrice in KY - Hi allison
Patrice in KY - aggie...how are feeling about play now
Pam - Hi everyone, Pam from PA - hope all are well
Patrice in KY - Pam...I will be even better this time next week.
aggieb - I feel good about play,, I think I got a handle on it.. I just need to look deeper
Vicki - I think what has worried me the most is that supposedly there are right and wrong answers this year--more content oriented than process oriented. From that point of view, the scope of material to be studied seems overwhelming.
Pam - I can only imagine- I am just beginning the odyssey
aggieb - and be more analytical with play and not descriptive
Vicki - Aggieb, I've just finished reading Pathways to Play. Do you think that's sufficient for someone like me who has never taught littl guys?
Patrice in KY - Vicki, do keep in mind, we are generalists....we need to know a broad spectrum but we are not considered indepth specialist. I would think that will make a difference
Pam - I agree with you Vicki. I have spent the last month just gathering information and the more I gather the more afraid I become
Vicki - aggieb--what do you mean "more analytical"?
Patrice in KY - Welcome to the NB ride, Pam.
aggieb - my first advice to any New candidate, read, and read and reread the directions as well as the standards.. Misunderstanding your directions can cause you a lot of pain
Pam - I hear it's a roller coaster Patrice
Patrice in KY - I agree with aggie. Read the directions, highlight and take notes in the margin....do the same with the standards....Use pencil for your notes...you will change your mind many time.
Patrice in KY - You got that right, Pam. LOL
allison - I have been reading for weeks, every book I could find. I am now going back and taking notes. I'm afraid of getting hit with a topic I'm unfamiliar with or haven't taught before. I don't know how else to prepare and I test next week. Any advice?
aggieb - I mean to be able to tell what is happening and why the students are acting the way they are, what stages of development of play
Vicki - Pam and msdtchr, my advice would be to read the directions for the two videotape entries and to start taping early and often. I'd also start sending home questionnaires, notes, newsletters early and often and ask for a response on every single thing you send home.
Pam - aggieb - which standards are you referring to? All of them ? The content areas and the standards from NBPTS?
aggieb - I was thinking of play,, but for math I think it would be wise to know in order to understand the misconception
Patrice in KY - newbies....as you read through the standards be sure to jot down units you teach that would work for possible entry work.
Patrice in KY - hi sinetag!!! Newbies...sinetag is one of the resident experts!
aggieb - How do you like the advice from fellow testers who say not to study.. I laugh, "hey! they don't know my brain. " I am just trying to make real world connections"
aggieb - How do you like the advice from fellow testers who say not to study.. I laugh, "hey! they don't know my brain. " I am just trying to make real world connections"
sinetag - hello
Pam - There is one teacher in PA I have had some dialogue with and she saide you either know it don't and she is not going to study, it seems like some people do not study and others want to study for months, I am the latter
Patrice in KY - Someone who tested last week said to be ready to think on your feet because the time flies
Vicki - I think the one of the biggest problems people had was the ability to differentiate between hands-on/observation science and inquiry science. You might start reading about inquiry science and trying to think of things that are of interest generally to your age students. While you can't predict what will interest a particular group, you can certainly be ready to "pounce" if they mention something you think would make for a good inquiry lesson.
aggieb - That is another peice of advice I would offer to any new candidate, use as many hands on activities that you can this year,, What you do will stick with you for the assessment , not what you try to cram and read.
Patrice in KY - I know for a fact that I am reallly going to have to work on getting straight to the point.
Patrice in KY - I agree, Vicki and aggie....the inquiry science reading is a must
aggieb - I was advised to use bullets
Patrice in KY - good plan aggie
Pam - What books or web sites would you recommend for inquiry scienc?
Patrice in KY - Pam, there is an incredible website for inquiry science...let me see if I can grab it for you
aggieb - Yes, if you don't know inquiry for the portfolio you will be struggling,, so read anything on inquiry that you can. that is a No. # 1 Prerequisite for the science math entry.
Pam - Thanks Patrice
Patrice in KY - http://www.exploratorium.edu/ifi/resources/classroom/connect/ Is one to check out.
Pam - what do you suggest, aggie b?
aggieb - I have to laugh,, I have been down this road before.. and Yes New Candiates you will make it also..
Vicki - Pam, at then end of this all, I bought the National Science Education Standards which is a great resource both for the standards, big ideas in science, and examples of inquiry teaching.
aggieb - Pam, I actually bought the science standards book and there was a great section on inquiry
aggieb - Pam, It was money well spent.
Pam - Thanks so much Patrice- I just added it to my favorites, aggie b- where do I get that book National Science Ed. Standards book?
MANATTEE - I will take the assessment at the end of the month. It is unclear to me if I am allowed to take our standards book into the assessment room or not. Has anyone taken the test yet. If so did you take your standards book in with you?
aggieb - But my first suggestion would be to read those instructions until you almost memorize them as well as the standards
Pam - in the AC book?
Vicki - To change the topic slightly, are any of you who are about to take the AC reading anything in particular about literacy?
Patrice in KY - http://www.nap.edu/books/0309064767/html/ This is the site for the National Science book. You can download the whole thing.
Patrice in KY - Manattee are you are a banker?
Vicki - Pam, I bought my standards book at one of those huge bookstores. I'm sure you could order it from Amazon, also.
MANATTEE - No, I am not.
aggieb - Pam, yes, read and understand those in the AC book,, this ring spent a lot of time, answering questions that were in the book, and hear say does not cut it for NB,,it has to be written
Patrice in KY - Manattee...then sorry. No standards
Pam - Thanks again Patrice!
Patrice in KY - hi ginger
ginger - hi, patrice!'
Pam - aggie b - the rings musing on the AC book are they archived anywhere?
MANATTEE - Thank you. I didn' t want to take them in with me. I think I'd spend too much time trying to cross reference and never acctually type anything! Thank you
Patrice in KY - no problem, Pam....I have a ton bookmarked as do all the other nb people here. My poor computer is nb weary
Patrice in KY - how goes it ginger...is this my NY ginger.
aggieb - For literacy, I am going to stay focused on four block literacy,, it covers all the areas of literacy, speaking, writing reading, listening
Pam - My computer is just beginning to feel the flow
Vicki - thanks, aggieb
ginger - yes, sweetie
Patrice in KY - You are right manattee....thirty minutes per question would not give us any time to look anything up.
ginger - how are you?
ginger - i've been in Pennsylvanie at a huge flea market with my daughter in law to be!
MANATTEE - Patrice, have you taken the assessment yet?
Patrice in KY - I am fair to middlin', ginger...how bout you.
Patrice in KY - no, Manattee...this coming friday is my T-day.
ginger - just warm, and overwhelmed because i still have 4 weeks of school
Patrice in KY - ohhhhh, ginger...four more weeks with those sweeties. I will keep you in my prayer. LOL
aggieb - wow, ginger,, I feel for you, maybe your kids are not as anxious as my studens are.
MANATTEE - God bless, you! I will say a prayer for you. I know that I have started to say some for me. This has been a long road, hasn't it?
ginger - thanks!
ginger - yes, but i liked the road once i understood how to walk on it
Pam - I am heading to Nags Head NC for our vacation June 15-22 any NBC teachers or candidates who want to hook up ?????
Patrice in KY - I agree, ginger...some of those pot holes threw me for a loop a time or two but I look forward to even more improved teaching after what I learned this year.
ginger - did you see the email that myra put out, listing the 7 things she will always do as she plans to teach? I thought it was good and succint
Patrice in KY - pam, my team teachers are taking me to florida for a week of sun and sea a week from tomorrow...are they not the best!!!!
Pam - they are the best Patrice- enjoy. I am sure you have earned it !
ginger - Pam, I would love to be in Nags Head instead of teaching, but i don't think my principal would agree
Vicki - Oh, Patrice, that is nice. We're going to Florida to visit my husband's mother. You will probably have slightly more fun.
aggieb - Patrice,, relay, yes you desire it all..
Patrice in KY - vicki...i tend to agree LOL
aggieb - relax
Vicki - I assume all of you are taking the AC on the computer rather than writing it out?
MANATTEE - Yes, I am
Patrice in KY - i have both THREE...count them...THREE historical romances to take....they don't mention a single professional word.
ginger - i have felt so inept while preparing for this test, that I have seldom written anything lately
ginger - yes, i'm definitely using the compute
ginger - yes, i'm definitely using the computer
MANATTEE - I agree, this has been very humbling!
Vicki - Ginger, the more conscientious we are, the more insecure we feel.
Patrice in KY - oh ginger....you have got what it takes....you really do..don't you dare fret
sue - hi yall
ginger - patrice, i look forward to reading anything that doesn't mention lesson plans
Patrice in KY - hi sue
ginger - hi sue
MANATTEE - Hello, Sue!
sue - brb too much fucshia
sue - that's better
ginger - patrice, i will write down that you are taking the AC on Friday, so i remember to pray for peace for you
MANATTEE - Hello, Sue, I like you in blue!
aggieb - Hi Sue!!
sue - aggie- what was I supposed to send you? my mind is totally fried after this week
Pam - You'll be in my prayers also Patrice
sue - have we covered the pe issues or did I miss it?
Patrice in KY - anybody here rereading entries to help prepare for the ac
Patrice in KY - sue, early on there was some discussion...it is in the archives
sue - patrice- no-- I'm reviewing standards and getting some ideas together for all the content area questions
sue - I'll check them patrice
Patrice in KY - sue, the big disussion was to remember it could also be safety or health.
sue - so what's up today?
Vicki - Well, I'd better go back to reading. In between now and Friday, I have to get packed for our Florida trip to my mother-in-law's since we are leaving Saturday morning. I wish all of you the very best at the AC. If you think of anything brilliant, please post it on the ring!
sue - will do vicki
Patrice in KY - sue, we have a healthy spattering of newbies and pending ac takers...so the discussion is varied
ginger - i think i'm just wondering what to do during the next 4 weeks.
sue - 26 days til my AC
Vicki - bye and good luck!
Patrice in KY - by Vicki..best wishes for friday
sue - who is taking the AC this month?
ginger - it doesn't seem to make sense to me to write a lesson plan for everything in the AC- I'd be up all night and then some
ginger - i'm not taking it til july 2
Patrice in KY - i have reached the point of no more note taking...just reading
ginger - yep, that's what i've been doing
ginger - i really liked what i read about play
sinetag - hello
ginger - almost makes me want to teach pre-k.....except they wet their pants too much
aggieb - ginger, where did you get your infomation on play
sue - sintag!! you are life saver!! love your notes
ginger - hello, sinetag! I so appreciate your input on the ring
Patrice in KY - i feel fairly confident about it all but the pe and play...and play should be a strength for me....in kindergarten...I work with children and play all the time. i think it is the idea that prek is really the only grade I have not taught of them all
ginger - i read two books that Diane on the ring sent me. the best was Pathways to Play
sue - patrice- just think of all the prereqs you need to succeed in K and you'll have PK
ginger - good idea, sue
Patrice in KY - ginger, i have read the notes on the book but not the actual book...do you think i should track it down
Patrice in KY - good point sue
sue - still confused about the science- will we be given a topic to fit within the big idea or will we have to create our own
ginger - i loved it- i copied about 8 pages of charts before i sent it back
Pam - sinetag- where can I get these files I keep hearing about?????
ginger - but i haven't ever taught K, so maybe it doesn't apply to you as much, Patrice
Patrice in KY - ginger, would it be possible to scan those and send an attachment????????
sue - I;ve never been above K!
Patrice in KY - Pam, are you on the EC-Gen ring?
sinetag - i'm not sure which files we're referring to..>?
ginger - i don't have a scanner, but we do at school. I'll be glad to do it on Monday
sue - do yall want a qucil list of what they need for math in PK?
ginger - sure!!!
Patrice in KY - sue, I have even taught sixth and they are just the same as kindergarten...only bigger.
sue - oops quick list
Pam - I am on the ring and get the e-mails - yes
Patrice in KY - sure, sue
sue - prereqs for counting-- lots of practice, must manipulate and touch objecs so they don't double tag
ginger - you are so right, patrice. I just spent a whole day grading 4th grade NYS math tests....a huge thing. And they are making the same dumb mistakes my 2nd graders make!
sue - basic to all is object permanence
Patrice in KY - Pam, go to the EC-Gen yahoo group site and register and you will have full access to the files.
Pam - ok- thanks again Patrice
ginger - thanks, sue
sue - common problem-- can't conserve so wider arrangemet means more
ginger - i odn't really know what object permanence is
Patrice in KY - ginger...i really feel the same misconceptions and mistake you saw today would apply to kindergarten as well
ginger - oh, that's it!
Pam - I have to go to a Gradution Party for one of my son's friends- My son graduates on Wednesday , I can't believe it , take care everyone and thanks for your help- see everyone next week
ginger - thanks again, sue, good explanation
Patrice in KY - pam, don
ginger - bye, pam
Patrice in KY - don't be afraid to ask questions. bye,
sue - ginger- no object permanence-- being able to know an object exists
Patrice in KY - sue...thanks!!
ginger - to know it exists?
sue - ginger- think of peekaboo
Patrice in KY - an understanding of weight was an issue for my kindergarten students this year....If something looked larger they thought is must weigh more....came through in science and math
Patrice in KY - hi Sherry!
sue - confusion over length vs height and width
ginger - hi, sheri
ginger - that continues through 2nd at least
Sherri (KY) - Hi Everyone just logging on for a short time have to go to a graduation party
sue - I'm going out to a major steak house tonight for dinner for son's graduation
ginger - sue, do the kids in prek still think the thing is gone if you can't see it?
Sherri (KY) - Patrice have you taken the assessement yet?
sue - ginger- no 4 yr olds but younger ones may-- still need concrete to abstract
Patrice in KY - nope...this coming friday...nearly time
sue - sherri- when are you scheduled?
Sherri (KY) - good luck I take it on June 22
Patrice in KY - when do you go, sherri
ginger - okay, that makes me stretch my mind, sue
sue - ginger- when are you scheduled?
Patrice in KY - ginger....we are going to have stretch marks on our brains after this year, are we not?
ginger - july 2nd, out in CA at my sister;'s house
aggieb - sometimes I forget that these prek students are 3 and 4 year olds and have to be reminded
ginger - patrice, i never thought i could stretch this much still
sue - mind? mind? what is that? I've lost mind somewhere in April LOL!
Patrice in KY - thanks, sherri. I hope when I get home I can send out an email that says it is doable.
ginger - i have a funny little story about my 2nd graders this week
sue - aggie- and younger depending on program
Patrice in KY - tell us, ginger
Patrice in KY - tell us, ginger
sue - EC GEN is ages 3 to 8 right?
Patrice in KY - yes, sue
ginger - we were planting the garden, and 2 girls were drawing where and what we were putting in. they labeled lettuce, peas, pumpkins...
Patrice in KY - so that play question could easily involve three year olds
ginger - and then they looked at the 5th grade plot and saw pencils they had used as plant markers....
ginger - wrote"pencil plants" on the map!
sue - hint! 3 yr old play is mostly associative/ parallel play
Sherri (KY) - Patrice I believe play can be 3 year olds
Sherri (KY) - ginger that is too funny!
ginger - they were so cute!
Patrice in KY - LOL....too cute, ginger...they still live in a literal world, don't they?
ginger - very much so
Patrice in KY - hey, there are rubber plants...why not pencil plants
Sherri (KY) - sue not much sharing goes on with 3's either, am I right?
ginger - why not, indeed?
sue - true cooperative play involves roles and the younger 3's are still to egocentric
aggieb - Sue should be called the "Play expert"
ginger - amen to that, aggieb
sue - sherri- zip! still in the " that's mine" stage
aggieb - sue has really helped me understand and analyze play.
ginger - sue, do all the teachers at your level know what you know?
ginger - it seems to me that lots of K and prek teachers don't do purposeful play
Patrice in KY - as i read back through the standards i was reminded of how assessment goes hand in hand with everything....i would think that anecdotal note taking of observations would be our only method of proof, is that on target sue?
sue - ginger- some not all. My undergrad was in psyche and I did a lot of research and observation at the lab school
ginger - that's what i thought.
sue - ginger- " purposeful" whose purpose?
Sherri (KY) - Gotta go, husband is saying let's go!! Good luck everyone if you are taking AC this week. Patrice let us know how it goes.
sue - patrice- I do daily anecdotals for 20 kids
ginger - purposeful meaning setting up areas that encourage different kkinds of play
Patrice in KY - will do...i will email on sat. when i get home...bye sherri
ginger - and encouraging new ideas with play
sue - My room is structured so all kids can do multilevels of play.
sue - Play is their work!
Patrice in KY - wow...sue, DAILY anecdotals. you put my weekly per child to shame!!!!
ginger - how wonderful- it's so true. I can tell which 2nd graders never learned how to play
sue - It also helped that one of my comp questions for my masters was on play too LOL!
Patrice in KY - Sue, are you prek or k
sue - patrice- I have a full time asst too
sue - PL
sue - oops PK
ginger - where do you teach, sue?
sue - burb of new orleans
sue - ginger- 2nd grade?
ginger - yes
sue - what grade levels do we have here?
sue - aggie- 1st grade?
ginger - have to go. My son is going to be here in 10 minutes, and I'm not ready
ginger - take care, all of you, and thanks again, sue
