sue - tired after a very long jazzercize workout

bruppert - I ran today for the first time in months, I used to run alot but it hurt my hips so I have been doing step aerobics and I work out with weights.

sue - KATV- use lea, big books, songs and rhmes, recorded books
sue - do you need info on how to determine a child's reading style?
bruppert - sure , what do you mean reading style?
sue - global or analytical-- global- into the story, not facts, able to indentify main idea, can learn info presented as a whole
bruppert - I was noticing today there is so much infor. on this and I guess I am so apprehensive with it that I am afraid I will get confused in my writing.
sue - analytical- likes it was in smaller bites
sue - bette- you'll just have to use what you know to analyze any info or scenario presented
Janet - You might want to visit Marie Carbo's site to learn more about reading styles
Janet - Some kids need quiet; others like soft music. Some can read sitting quietly in desk; others need to lay on floor; MCarbo advocates books-on-tape
sue - don't forget reading strategies that you do on a daily basis and don't name
Janet - don't name what?
sue - janet-the stuff we do automatically- the strategies we forget about-- predicting, picture walks, etc
bruppert - yeah I am working on literacy tomorrow with strategies.

bruppert - no sue has passed !! I am a retaker!!

Janet - Which part are you planning to retake? Just the literacy?
bruppert - no I am taking literacy and children's play
Janet - What is your assessment date?
bruppert - june 26 my anniversary of 27 years, bit time celebration that night. LOL
sue - bette- how's your mom?
bruppert - doing just fine, thanks for asking! It did not hurt her at all just scared us both very much
sue - I have to share this--one of my teachers - a PK teacher was named Teacher of the Year for our district !!!!!!!!!!
bruppert - Great news, how did your friend do with her surgery?
Janet - Congrats!!! That's a wonderful honor.
sue - bette- scheduled Cancun for the day after my last class- 4 days on the beach
bruppert - sounds good to me, my son is going there for his spring break and he is saving his money this summer
sue - bette- not good, starts chemo soon-but she's in great spirits
sue - we're going out next week to buy rub on tatoos for her bald head so she'll have them when she looses her hair
bruppert - oh dear I will put her on my prayer list.
bruppert - go and get her a good wig and turban. we did that for some friends a couple of years ago

sue - LOL! since she'll still be with the little ones we're doing wild stuff
sue - dread locks and a baseball cap, spiked hair
bruppert - they will get her through this time as they internalize things so differently
sue - living in a city with Mardi Gras and a very active theatre life helps

Janet - I submitted my portfolios in April. Am scheduled for AC on the 24th.
sue - get a really good nights sleep the night before.

Janet - Have been studying Building the Primary Classroom; various portions of P to Play; reviewing standards
sue - mine was to sing the ant and rubber tree plant song in my mind
Janet - I plan to drive to HBurg on Monday--will locate ACenter so as not to be searching Tuesday AM. I'll DEFINITELY get a good night's sleep
sue - make sure you don't forget to use your own years of experience,too
Janet - A CIW told me she relied heavily on her own experience--common sense
sue - hmm- those brownies are calling my name-- brb
Janet - I'm mostly concerned about the 30 minute time-limit. I don't think as quickly as I did a few years ago
bruppert - one thing is to learn the rubics before you go in... last year we did not have those before testing.
sue - it may be worth your while to organize yourself before you start writing if you tend to get panicky
Janet - I'm working on those...each time I look at a specific area, I review the rubric. Someone on the ring said the rubrics are on the screen, but I don't want to take the time having to look back and forth.
bruppert - yeah I think you are right, I plan to memorize some words to help me with that and write them the minute I set foot in the computer lab.

bruppert - there is so many things I wish I had done differently but I guess it is live and learn like the kids do.

sue - I did have a problem at the AC with the soound of so many people typing at the same time-- very irritating to me
sue - bette- LOL! that's one way of putting it
Janet - Didn't they supply earplugs? Our ACenters give earplugs.
sue - no- it was very crowded becuase a lot of RN and BCSW tests were being given,too
bruppert - it is that journalist in me that comes out once in awhile.
sue - my friend had to have accomodations because of a learning disability and they didn't even move her!
bruppert - I was not afffected by the noise I did n't like the ones not doing the computer but writing there answers -- they had so many interruptions and this lady kept coming in and out a door.
Janet - I heard multiple tests are given at all times. My "use your common sense" CIW friend used earplugs. The lady behind here threw up---housekeeping came and cleaned up--all she knew was that a slight aroma of disinfectant was in the room. She didn't look up but when she asked the monitor after she'd completed her work, he told her. We
