KInderjane - Hey Debbie!
KInderjane - I have enjoyed my time since the AC. MY house is clean and my classroom is clean. Still need to straighten cabinets and closet at school. All of mine at home are straight! That is a good feeling.
Debbie Mc. - I just finished my house. Starting to work at school Thursday of this week!
sheila/nc - congrats kinderjane!
Debbie Mc. - They are laying new tile in my room. Everything had to be packed up. UGH!
sheila/nc - debbie, are you a beginner or AC survivor?
KInderjane - Thanks, Sheila. Where are you in the NB process? Same as me-candidate now?
Debbie Mc. - NBCT!
sheila/nc - my room being carpeted sometime soon!
sheila/nc - Wow! Congratulations! (kinder, me just beginner) *sigh*
KInderjane - Debbie, we got new tile last year. I thought I would miss the carpet, but the tile works well.
Debbie Mc. - Are you congratulating Jane because she's finished or did something else good happen?
KInderjane - Sheila- Do you have your box yet?
Debbie Mc. - The tile just seems to be cleaner to me. I have a few area rugs but they get so messy!
sheila/nc - this is my first time to make into this chatroom and I was congratulating jane for completing process! [Still awaiting my box.]
Debbie Mc. - You're in for the ride of your life!
sheila/nc - gee, thanks debbie (i think) ;)
Debbie Mc. - I had scanned entries 5 & 6 and sent them to Kim. Would you like for me to try to scan and send them to you or get in touch with Kim to send them to you?
sheila/nc - i've enjoyed the ec_gen mailring. it seems like a great lifeline!
KInderjane - What do you teach, Sheila? I am having trouble with your name. I have taught 2 Shelia's recently and had some parents who spelled it that way. Excuse me if I do it wrong!! :-)
sheila/nc - debbie! YES, YES, YES!!! :)
Debbie Mc. - It is a great support network.
KInderjane - You are right Sheila, the ec-gen ring is a lifeline! Do you have support where you are?
sheila/nc - okay, kinder! but my way is right! ;) [other way is sheeeeleeea
Debbie Mc. - I'll e-mail her after the chat. Maybe I should just have her send them back to me. My computer didn't record that they had been sent through, so I didn't save them.
Debbie Mc. - Sheila, remember to send me your e-mail address so I'll know who to send them to.
sheila/nc - i teach 2nd grade and looks like i'll be going solo this year. however, 2 others at my school have tried this past year and i hope they'll help me a wee bit
sheila/nc - debbie, may i post it here?
Debbie Mc. - Yes, or you can send it to me as a private message if you don't want it splattered across the net.
KInderjane - I was the only ec-gen at my school. Three others did middle childhood gen. There are two other ec-gen candidates in my district. I loved working with them.
Debbie Mc. - Jane, I'll bet you're enjoying yourself this summer. Isn't it great to have this rest from the box?
Number404 - better to use private messages since anyone can lurk without logging in.
sheila/nc - thank you, number! are you like big brother watching us?
KInderjane - Hello Number404! Is that your candidate id number?
Number404 - *I was lurking, but I am harmless*
sheila/nc - hee hee. figured that much! :)
Number404 - Kinder, that is the error message of a lost web site.
sheila/nc - thank you debbie! you're a godsend
Number404 - It is also a made up character who owns my website.
KInderjane - Gotcha 404!
Number404 - I am more like a very board big sister.
sheila/nc - kinder, one at my school was a middle and one was an early
sheila/nc - board? as in chatboard or bored?
Debbie Mc. - I didn't have any help until right before the AC. I found a message about the EC Gen listserve on the NBPTS website. I was a lonesome candidate.
KInderjane - Sheila- we have no NBCT's in my district YET, so the people on the ring were my support group. And they did support!
Number404 - WBS, a chat site that is no longer on the net, lost my log in name when they re-did their site, so I took this one as sort of a commentary.
Number404 - I meant to type bored.
Number404 - my brain moves faster than my fingers.
sheila/nc - oh no! got knocked off big time!
KInderjane - Sheila- Have you started to prepare yet?
Debbie Mc. - That's odd Number 404. My mouth moves faster than my brain.
Number404 - debbie, LOL
Karen - I have just begun preparing for the ec-gen. Can any one give me a little help?
sharon (MS) - Hello from HOT Mississippi.
Karen - Hello to all of you!
sheila/nc - welcome karen (I'm new too!)
sharon (MS) - Debbie, I loved your description on the ring of how you spaced your entries and didn't work every day. It sounded exactly the way I had worked.
carbag - Are you a new candidate?
pat - You don't know me because I've been somewhat of a lurker on the ring. I am a second grade teacher in cambridge, MA. Had trouble signing on to the ring and have used my friend's e-mail to join. I took the Ac on june 28th
carbag - Oh, I took the ac last Tues on the llth
carbag - Kelly will help you sign on if you need help
carbag - We have to be careful what we say, but how did the AC go for you?
pat - This has been quite some process. I really felt that the format at the A. c. (scrolling back and forth took up so much of my time that I could barely scratch the surface of the questions. i think I did O.K. on the math thanks to all of your help. Definitely bombed the science!!
carbag - Maybe you did better than you thought on the science - it seems to be hardest for everyone. The topic happened to be one I love, but I still may not have done well. It is so hard to know for sure!
carbag - I am trying to get accustomed to having some time again!
pat - Carbag..I am so impressed with the support and caring of the teachers on the ring. You guys are great. that NBPTS site is pathetic!!
carbag - I love the ring, too! I am a candidate just like you and I am so thankful for everyone's help!
carbag - I hope to be able to help others some day, too!
Wizard - yes, that's what I was thinking
pat - I hope that I can touch base with Kelly so that I can sign on myself and not mess up my friend's connection. Now when I log on my friends log -o automatically comes up.
glory - Hi everyone! I am new to this ring and pray that my portfolio will see me through.
carbag - Give me your email and I can get it to Kelly
carbag - Hi Glory! Glad to have you here!
pat - Thanks so much. It's pchard@massed.net
carbag - I think a lot of us are hoping that Glory!
glory - It has been two weeks since my AC and I am just now beginning to feel like my old self again
carbag - I just took the AC last Tuesday! so I am still in La la land! lOL
pat - Glory...your not the only one. I'm still trying to catch up on the housework and my social life!
glory - I prepared so hard for the AC but I didn't pace myself well with the analysis and time got away from me before I was able to close the way I wanted to.
carbag - Social life? What is that!? I can't find my floors to clean - papers everywhere!
pat - I could have used the organizational tips a few months ago...especially the Betty Crocker site. My oldest daughter is a senior in college. My youngest just turned 13. Every time she walked by me working at the computer she said she hated the National Board.
glory - I know exactly what you mean. My husband will not even discuss it with me and I feel I really don't have anyone that understands except for this site.
pat - I really don't think anyone can really relate to all that we've done except for those of us who are going through it!
carbag - Amen Pat!
carbag - I didn't realize how hard the process was going to be on my family - they are more relieved than me to have the AC over!
pat - Glory and carbag... what grades do you teach. I'll be looping down to first. I haven't taught first in 20 years so I,m really enjoying all of the discussion about play centers etc.I'm really getting into it now!
glory - I teach 2nd grade and have taught for 20 years
carbag - I teach kindergarten. Kelly teaches first, Pattie from AL, serafin, kinderjane is kind. You will be in good company with first grade teachers!
carbag - Excuse me - kelly, pattie serafin all teach first grade - I didn't make myself clear!
pat - I loved second grade and vowed that i would only go up in future years. I've already been getting so many great hints from everyone out ther. when i finished the A.C. I immediately turned to preparations for my first grade. I think I'm still working in overdrive!
carbag - This group is the best place for positive support! I love it! Are you familiar with The Reading Lady? I want to think she is a first grade teacher and there is a mailring for lst grade teachers, but it is unrealted to nb. Kelly is a member of it, too.
carbag - That is supposed to be unrelated - my fingers aren't working!
pat - Wow. My hat is off to Kelly. How does she find the time to do all that she does? She's awesome. Yes I've been on every site around...especially all the ones that you guys have suggested.
carbag - I am in awe of Kelly, too! This is her life - to improve our profession!
pat - Check out my typing. I'm really not illiterate and I can spell. That's why I decided to handwrite at the A.C>
pat - Carbag- Im on my way to a Jack & Jill baby shower now. I do hope that Kelly can help me sign on because I'd like togive back some of the help I have received on the ring. I am going to be mentoring in the fall and am interested in advice you all may have in this area. I worked on a design team this year to help develop our city's mentoring plan.
