cavey - Hi big guy! How was your holiday?
Alta Rose - How are you guys doing?
cavey - I didn't know if anyone would be here tonight
cavey - Brad must have logged on and left the building
Alta Rose - I was wondering the same thing. (No holiday here. We have ours in October.)
Alta Rose - Maybe he got thrown off already.
Alta Rose - Have you had a relaxing weekend so far? Or busy?
cavey - I'm still stuffed, dinner at one house last night and another tonight
cavey - My treadmill is calling!
Alta Rose - Lol!
brad - that was strange.
Alta Rose - Did you get booted off?
brad - I wondered if anyone would be on. We stayed at home
cavey - We were wondering what happened to you
brad - When I first logged on, no one was in here, so I went to another site and then came back. No one was still in here, but when I refreshed, there you were
cavey - Did you have a good holiday brad?
Alta Rose - That IS strange. Hi Judy!
brad - it was okay. the problem with not having dinner at your house is there are no leftovers
cavey - Hey Judy! Happy "I'm Still so Full I Could Burst Day"
brad - alta, i think you stole judy's color
Alta Rose - Now it's happening to Judy! Lol!
judy3ca - Hi friends!
judy3ca - Worse color, sigh.
Alta Rose - Oh. Sorry Judy!
cavey - It's okay, I stole Nan, Kim and Erins color
judy3ca - LOL, Alta, I think this is more becoming.
Alta Rose - I didn't know anyone had colours. I'm usually later, so I just grab whatever's left.
judy3ca - Brad, we have lots of leftovers....c'mon over.
brad - why so early tonite alta
Alta Rose - Usually it's that lovely chocolate brown.
cavey - I've got sweet potatoes Brad
brad - blah
judy3ca - cavery, it IS odd seeing you in that color, LOL.
judy3ca - oops, cavey
Alta Rose - Brad--My family is all watching "Men in Black 2." I like Tommy L.J., but that's not my kind of movie! Lol.
cavey - What color should I be Judy? Brunette?
judy3ca - I ditched my family--they're watching Count of Monte Cristo.
judy3ca - ROFL cavey
Mrs. J - Hi, guys. I can't believe I actually stayed awake for a chat!
judy3ca - Yup, apparently I'm the only cook left in our family.
brad - daughter in town
Mrs. J - My boys are asleep, hubby's playing PlayStation, and my daughters watching some show about animals of the ice age
cavey - I can cook!
judy3ca - I think the chatroom aura got me--I started thinking about school a couple of hours ago.
brad - eilene, long time no see
eilene - Hey guys!! I can't stay long because I'm on my mom's.
Alta Rose - Do you miss it Judy? lol.
brad - it got me too judy. I was in the car today and thought, "hmm. I wonder if anyone will chat tonite"
cavey - We're all pathetic, maybe we should have an ESIA addicts group
eilene - don't want to charge up her dial-up. Just came on to wish everyone happy holidays!
judy3ca - Yes, Alta, I do miss it. I especially miss my kids because they didn't come at all last week (conferences).
Alta Rose - You had conferences during all of last week?
judy3ca - Happy Holidays to you, too, Eilene!
judy3ca - cavey, what's traditional Thanksgiving fare for you?
Erin - Just got back from Urgent Care with my son
judy3ca - Uh oh--is he okay?
Erin - His mouth met his friend's elbow...looked like it might need stitches
Erin - Fortunately it didn't...
judy3ca - ouch
Alta Rose - Ouch.
eilene - oh, that's rough.
cavey - Judy, all the regular stuff, turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed, tons of veggies and of course BISCUITS!
brad - Urgent Care, or as I like to call it, We'll-Get-To-You-Soon-As-It's-Convenient Care
cavey - Oh Erin!
judy3ca - cavey, lol, some of that isn't "regular" for us.
Erin - LOL brad...if you can believe it no one else was there
cavey - What's regular Judy?
Erin - Went to the one for my insurance and it was closed. That was helpful. Went to the independent one and they didn't even charge me.
eilene - oh, brad, that's so funny. That's what I'm used to here in Chicago, but when I asked in Hawaii how long the wait was, they looked at me like i was insane
Alta Rose - We call it "Emergency" here.
cavey - It's called Doc in a Box
Erin - Alta...we have Emergency rooms and then one step down, Urgent Care
Erin - I worked in an urgent care for four years. I loved it!!!
Alta Rose - So--You have to go to specific hospitals depending upon where your insurance will pay?
Alta Rose - Oh, I see Erin.
judy3ca - We don't do sweet potatoes. For us it's turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, rolls (not homemade), pickles & olives, pumpkin pie (and maybe 1 vegetable and 1 salad--depending on the number of guests)--oh, and cranberry sauce.
Erin - Alta...have to go to specific Urgent Cares. If it's a true emergency they will reimburse you as long as you call first
eilene - what? no Lasagne, judy?
Erin - We had ham because hubby is allergic to turkey
cavey - Judy, that's pretty much the same except you gotta have BISCUITS!
judy3ca - Eilene, do you have lasagne on Thanksgiving?
brad - biscuits--you can tell cavey's a southerner
Erin - cavey...they biscuits sound great...can you send some?
brad - they'd put caviar on a biscuit if they could
eilene - yeah, or some baked pasta dish...
judy3ca - cavey, we're not biscuit eaters, LOL, we live for those doughy brown and serve rolls you can only buy twice a year.
Erin - Anyone go shopping today?
cavey - Erin, I'd love to, but they don't keep well at all
brad - i did
Alta Rose - Nope. Stayed home sick.
eilene - no, didn't go shopping, went on riverboat gambling...
Mrs. J - I was out at 6 a.m, back in by 7 a.m.
Erin - I met my mom at 7:00 am at the mall
cavey - I won'
Erin - Wow Mrs. J..impressive
eilene - oh, poor Alta!
judy3ca - Erin, I went shopping with the college girl. Lots of fun and lots of spending.
brad - eilene, you naughty naughty (didja win?)
Mrs. J - Had to get a Gameboy Advance
cavey - I won't respond to Brad's cavier joke ( what is caviar anyway?)
Erin - I needed a dress for my husband's work party
Alta Rose - Oh eilene, that sounds like fun!
brad - mrs. j, not from walmart I hope. (ours sold out)
eilene - no, didn't win at the boats. only lost 7.50 though. Then took ten dollars from my brothers as we played poker
Erin - Walmart looked like a zoo....even worse than normal
eilene - the only bad thing about those boats is the smoking. thought I would cough up a lung
Mrs. J - Nope, Meijer. $64.99 and you got a coupon for $20 off a game. Plus I got my mom's discount!
Erin - LOL eilene...I bet
Mrs. J - Glad I didn't go with the Walmart one. Figured they'd sell out
cavey - Walmart on Black Friday!! You people are machochists!
judy3ca - Erin, did you get a cool dress?
brad - we have smoking and nonsmoking sections on our (indiana's) boats, eilene
Erin - Wow great deal Mrs. J...can I send you a check so you can get me one?
Mrs. J - I was at KMart on Thanksgiving morning. Crazy
eilene - I think I'm doing my shopping on line for the few gifts I'm aloud to buy... We do Crafty Christmas
brad - Our Meijer did that too, I think, but walmart was the better deal (if you could get it)
eilene - *allowed
Erin - Got a great deal Judy. Went to Macy's ...two dresses for $80
judy3ca - That is a good deal, Erin, I was spending in Macy's today, too.
eilene - we have a small non-smoking section, back in the orphan corner
Mrs. J - Yeah, we debated Brad and decided to go with the sure thing rather than get out there and get nothing
Erin - Plus hubby had a gift certificate for $40
brad - You'd be so proud of me though. We were at Babies R' Us for the carseat, which is right across from a certain bookstore chain and I DIDN'T GO IN!! Are you proud??
Mrs. J - Two more weeks, Brad?
Erin - No brad....if you were a true ESIA member you would have gone in and made a purchase.
brad - That's what was supposed to happen, but I think it's this week
eilene - I'm shocked brad! and a little disappointed. what can we count on if we can't count on you buying something??
judy3ca - Ooooh, speaking of books (I've been waiting patiently)....someone on the mailring recommended The Silver Morning for SI and my copy came today and it's just WONDERFUL!
cavey - Depends on the bookstore chain as to how proud we are
Mrs. J - Oooh, stirrings, Brad?
brad - Barnes and Noble
Erin - Judy...you were probably waiting for that opening
cavey - Okay, proud!
brad - Stirrings, rumblings, and quaking. In short, a whole lotta shakin'
Alta Rose - That's good to know, Judy. I'm working on SI now.
judy3ca - Right, cavey, we have our standards.
brad - going on
Erin - Oh and by the way, I bought ANOTHER book, LOL Judy
judy3ca - LOL, Erin, too true.
Mrs. J - Is this your second or third, Brad?
judy3ca - What what?
brad - third
brad - and final
eilene - okay, I have to go. If Michelle and Sylvia pop on, tell them I said Hello & Happy Holidays! Have a good night, guys!
Erin - Sorry Judy, I was pretending to be you and the book you bought
Erin - Goodnight Eilene
brad - nite eilene, stop in again soon (or on the board)
cavey - Bye Eilene!
Alta Rose - Bye Eilene!
Mrs. J - I have three. Debating a fourth.
Erin - Started painting my kitchen today. Stripped all the wallpaper last Saturday
judy3ca - I get it--sorry! Slow here. But I did just send in my $ to see Linda Hoyt for a day. I'm soooo glad it's on a Saturday and I don't have to write sub plans.
Erin - Having husband's department Christmas party here
brad - impressive, erin,
cavey - Mrs. J, book or child?
Alta Rose - Judy, I read "If You're Not from the Prairie" to my kids. They were all laying on the floor making their images. It was wonderful!
brad - lol cavey
judy3ca - Erin, you're brave.
Mrs. J - Child, cavey
judy3ca - Good for you, Alta--I just love that book!
Erin - Judy, brave or stupid. Take your pick. Don't even try brad
brad - I'm really hoping that Dublin convention from mosaicteachers is just seventy-five. I don't think I'd have any problem squeezing that out. Is that wishful thinking?
Erin - Means I get to buy a lot of new things
judy3ca - mine is $75
Erin - What's the Dublin one brad?
Mrs. J - Nothing good ever comes to Michigan!
judy3ca - Of course, that's if I don't buy anything.
brad - 75 just to see Debbie Miller, let alone the other people she said would be there!!!
brad - I'd do 75 just to see Miller alone,
Mrs. J - Well, I shouldn't say that. I did see Fountas and Pinnell a few years ago
judy3ca - Kim, another good reason to live in California, LOL.
Erin - That sounds awesome, brad
Mrs. J - Ooh, but the earthquake thing, Judy
brad - Good ones do come around here, but no one famous.
cavey - What are the other reasons, Judy?
Mrs. J - We are in a snow advisory tonight. Could get 12 inches by this time tomorrow
brad - (am I sad, getting worked up about miller? tee hee)
Erin - cavey, come on, Judy and myself and Kim and Jan and Sadie of course
Mrs. J - Yuck!
Alta Rose - We have no snow!!! Had a bit and it's gone!!
Mrs. J - That would be a plus for California
Erin - Mrs. J...the earthquakes aren't all the time..unlike the snow LOL
judy3ca - Kim, earthquakes are nothing really--I've lived here all my life and only been in one major quake. Life usually goes on (unless it's a World Series game).
brad - us too alta, first stuff that stuck Tuesday nite, gone Wed. Afternoon. Still some encrusted in the shadows here and there
cavey - I was in California during earthquakes!
Mrs. J - All of ours is gone right now. That's what makes this impending snow so depressing
Alta Rose - brb
judy3ca - LOL, maybe I'm just used to quakes.
Mrs. J - Maybe Monday will be a snow day!
Erin - If it snowed here all H...would break loose. For crying out loud, they do Storm Watch if it even drizzles
judy3ca - I have enough trouble driving as it is--I'm sure I'd be a terrible menace on snow.
Mrs. J - You get used to it
cavey - No California drivers in snow!!!!
Erin - At least the winds died down...they were up to 70 mph the last few nights
judy3ca - no thanks
Erin - Hey cavey, now you're getting personal
Mrs. J - The first heavy snow is the worst. People act like they are ALL from California! LOL
Mrs. J - Where are you at, Cavey?
brad - it's usually not people like you judy. It's the other idiots who pay no heed it's on the ground as they zoom by you at seventy miles an hour. (Honk as I pass you in the ditch!)
cavey - Except you of course, darling!
Erin - O.K. Judy it's you and me against the California bashing
brad - erin, where are you in cali?
judy3ca - Erin, I love it when people bash CA--it just means fewer people will move here.
Erin - Yeah, I do slow down in the rain. Normally I drive fast, but do respect the rain(and if we had it, the snow)
cavey - I'm in Vriginia Mrs. J, between Richmond and Washington DC
Alta Rose - You do get used to it, Judy. Just have to drive slower. Like Brad says, it's the other guy you have to worry about. And highways are cleared a.s.a.p.
Erin - Southern California, 30 miles north of LA, near Magic Mountain
brad - town?
cavey - I've been to Magic Mountain!
Erin - I want all ESIA to move here but no one else (said with pout on face)
Erin - Valencia, work in Castaic
brad - If one of you opened a charter school, I'd seriously consider a move.
Erin - Did you wave to me when you went cavey?
judy3ca - Well, um, actually, I love California.
brad - I'm just curious where Cali people live, because I did a driving trek out there in 96 and went up the coast on Highway one to San Fran
cavey - You weren't born yet Erin
Erin - Some parents in my district just got a huge grant to open a charter school
Erin - Cavey, how old are you?
brad - I'd like to know if people are in those little towns I passed and if I remember
judy3ca - Really Erin? Tell us about it!
Erin - They want to model it after the International? model (I think that's it)
cavey - I'm 38, but I went to elementary school in Southern Cal
Erin - Cavey, you're only a few years older than me. Where did you go to school?
brad - I'm curious if there's anyone online whose post office I slept outside of lo' those years ago. LOL
judy3ca - Brad, I'm from Manhattan Beach in Southern CA--near the L.A. airport. Now I live in Northern CA--in a suburb of San Francisco.
Erin - brad, you wild man LOL
cavey - I don't remember the names, but in Torrence and Lawndale
judy3ca - cavey--both of my children were born in Torrance!
Erin - I went to school in THE valley, not the pretend one I live in now
brad - I started my trek in LA, went through Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and the like. all along Highway One. Beautiful
Erin - That is a beautiful drive brad. I've done it before, also
brad - The post office was Grover Beach I think
judy3ca - We really should all meet in San Luis Obispo this summer. It's halfway for us CA people--and Brad thinks it's pretty.
brad - WAtched the sun come up over the Pacific
cavey - I had great teachers in those LA schools!
Erin - That settles it. Who's booking the rooms?
brad - Pretty cities. . . . (homer drool)
brad - I thought we were all going to cavey's cabin??
judy3ca - I'm thinking that SLO can't be that busy in summer since it's a college town.
brad - LOL, I did this with my cousin and she always calls SLO, Saint Louis in a Biscuit cause she can't ever remember the name
Erin - LOL, very funny
cavey - Yeah!! Waters skiiing, boating, drinking...
Erin - And don't forget, cavey, reading our books
Erin - If we do something professional perhaps we can write it off
cavey - Those three always go well hand in hand
brad - yeah, whatever happened to the graves talk or the schmoker for that matter?
judy3ca - I'm back--that's a hoot, Brad. SLO is where our youngest goes to college.
cavey - Yeah Yeah books, whatever..
Erin - Good question, brad
Mrs. J - No, no, no, since no one famous ever comes here, I think you all should take a trek to the Corn Flake capital of the world
cavey - We got sidetracked with the professional reading didn't we?
brad - i'm still up for cavey's cabin
Erin - Thanks for volunteering to get us back on track cavey
judy3ca - I haven't touched the Graves since our last talk, cavey.
Erin - We'll look forward to your post on the board tomorrow LOL
brad - brb thirsty
cavey - Me either Judy ( hanging head)
Erin - OK guilt, guilt, guilt, me neither
judy3ca - Phew, then we're still in the same place, cavey!
judy3ca - Well, I've started 3 different novels--that kept me busy.
cavey - Good, then it's on to chapter 7?
Alta Rose - I meant to borrow it from the college library, but haven't had the chance yet, with IPPs, report cards, conferences....
Erin - I finished my homework for my School Law class, and did half my report cards. I'll try to get to Chapter 7
judy3ca - Sure, cavey, but I know I won't read while our daughter's home--so after vacation for me.
cavey - Me too with the novels Judy- I'm doing A LOng Way from Chicago with my 5th graders
judy3ca - Gosh, Erin, do you ever sleep?
Erin - All right after rising at 5:30 to go shopping, painting, and trekking to the Urgent care I'm pooped. I'll talk to you all soon
brad - JUDY WON'T READ!!! The world ended while I went to satitate my thirst and no one told me????
Alta Rose - Take Care, Erin.
judy3ca - Night, Erin!
Erin - Yes Judy, like a giraffe, standing up and usually while doing something else. LOL
cavey - Sheeh Erin, for a minute I thought you said Law School!
Mrs. J - Night, Erin
Erin - good night all, Tell me where I'm going on vacation this summer
cavey - Bye Erin!
brad - ugh, school law, hated it. booooring. nite erin
judy3ca - ROFL Brad!
Erin - No cavey, For my admin credential I'm a glutton for punishment
judy3ca - Brad, did you attend law school?
Erin - Sorry, I'm really going now.
brad - School Law for admin credential
cavey - You're coming to beautiful Virginia Erin!
judy3ca - oh, I'm sure slow tonight
judy3ca - Brad, do you seriously see yourself as a principal?
brad - All those supreme court cases, blah, blah, blah. Talk about teachers being bored and rolling eyes at RWM, let them get their hands on school law text
Alta Rose - I could never be an administrator.
brad - No, Judy, I see myself as an instructional leader, LOL
cavey - That's not what she asked Brad
judy3ca - LOLOLOL
Mrs. J - I'm procrastinating starting ed leadership classes. Trying to decide which route to go. Want to go into curriculum, but figure I will need to work as a principal first.
Mrs. J - Not looking forward to taking classes again though
judy3ca - I wonder what the rewarding part of admin is????
Mrs. J - Why "never", Alta?
judy3ca - I mean, I know what the rewarding part of teaching is.
brad - I can see myself in curriculum development, staff development, literacy coach, teacher induction, but not principal as the position stands in most places. I want what used to be called the "supervisor" position here in Ohio
cavey - I think its going to the school board meetings Judy
brad - Judy, I think you can affect greater amounts of students by being an admin, but it is indirect.
judy3ca - That's it, cavey!
judy3ca - OMG, do you really believe that, Brad?
Alta Rose - I wouldn't want the hassle of dealing with parents, budget, etc.
brad - Correct me, an adminstrative position like I've mentioned, not principal
judy3ca - Right, Alta, and I detest schedules.
judy3ca - Hmmm, still thinking on it, but good for you, Brad.
brad - Maybe it's just right now, but I consider myself much more skilled and knowledgable in the research adn development than in the actual delivery
cavey - I would love to mentor and do curriculum, but not the other stuff associated with admin
cavey - Don't sell yourself short Brad, you've got a tough group of kids
judy3ca - My Lit Coach is wonderful--you guys might like her job. I could never do it though.
brad - I had many staff members ask If I was going to be the new literacy coach this year or they think I'd make a good principal.
brad - I need more experience though (grin)\
cavey - I do love interacting with the kids
cavey - How long have you been teaching Brad?
brad - ANd the discipline. STill getting that down.
judy3ca - I spent one year out of the classroom (bilingual coordinator) and I HATED it.
Mrs. J - Why not, Judy?
brad - this is my second year cavey
cavey - get out!
judy3ca - Kim, I just like the classroom--I really like kids a lot, and the older I get, the more I like them.
cavey - You are doing GREAT for a second year!
brad - Judy, I would think you'd enjoy Lit Coach position
Mrs. J - Our district has a minimum of seven years teaching before they will hire you as a principal, but I know other districts don't have a minimum
Mrs. J - What about half time, Judy?
brad - 3 in a tenure track position
judy3ca - Brad, LOL, I absolutely do NOT want to deal with teachers. Never.
Alta Rose - We don't have Lit. coaches here.
cavey - We're not all so bad, Judy
judy3ca - Kim, no interest. I really truly love teaching.
Mrs. J - It can be a headache
judy3ca - We may not have Lit Coaches beyond next year, Alta.
Mrs. J - What about teaching adults though? Just kids?
brad - I can see that. When I was giving the presentation last week to all the building math specialists on the new curriculum guide I headed, rumblings dominatted the proceedings, One of the ladies in back said, "We are all talking and acting like the kids." I turned around and said, "Oh, teachers are worse than kids."
Alta Rose - I agree with you, Judy. And I'm just not "admin" material. (Not tough enough, Lol!)
cavey - No lit coaches here either
Mrs. J - The grant we have to pay for our lit coaches was slashed by our lovely governor. So if we don't get money from somewhere, we won't have lit coaches after this year either
brad - LOL, Judy, we just STARTED having Lit Coaches.
judy3ca - Alta, I agree. I admire my Lit Coach's tact (when she must want to strangle people).
Mrs. J - How long has she been a lit coach, Judy?
judy3ca - Brad and Kim, we WANT Lit Coaches--it's a $$$ issue.
brad - Is that what it is, Judy and Alta. Do you not possess tact? LOL
Alta Rose - I sure wish I had some of that tact!
cavey - I have to deal with other teachers all day, part of my job
judy3ca - She started as a half-time lit coach, then last year and this year are full-time. I think she's budgeted for next year, too, but after that....
Alta Rose - When my collegue was complaining about having to read RWM...Said that since our strike she wasn't willing to do any extra...
judy3ca - Brad, ROFL, you need to ask if I'm tactful?????????????
Alta Rose - I felt like saying, "I hope my kids' teachers don't have that attitude!" My tongue is still purple from biting on it.
Mrs. J - Is she just that kind of person, Judy, or do you think she learned the tact because of the job?
cavey - Maybe I should send you some of my southern charm
Mrs. J - That's what I struggle with--the not strangling people thing
judy3ca - Even if I manage to keep my mouth shut, my body language is a dead giveaway.
cavey - in a can
brad - exactly what does your lit coach do all day, Judy
judy3ca - Kim, I think it's a combination. She's more tactful now--but she's really really good at what she does.
judy3ca - Okay, every other week she meets with one grade level from 10:45 until dismissal. We have cycles of inquiry, discuss professional reading, share student work, etc. The other week she works in classrooms.
brad - ya' know, Alta, Jan says that all the time. What can we do to make teachers more professional? And we know how to improve schools, why aren't we doing it?
brad - judy what does she do in classrooms?
Mrs. J - 10:45 until dismissal? What time is dismissal?
brad - I ask, because our Lit Coach is a nice lady and they really haven't given her a job description and she's sort've feeling her way in the dark. I'm just curious.
cavey - I've gotta go - more eating tomorrow for the football game!
judy3ca - Brad, she'll do whatever we want. She helps inexperienced teachers (we have VERY few), she'll teach a demo lesson, she'll observe and discuss. That's what I like--she'll come watch me and then late we hash it out.
Alta Rose - She has a daughter in Gr. 1. I also felt like saying, "How would you feel if your daughter's teacher felt like that? " But all I said was, "Well, I read RWM this summer and it's wonderful." She's tired of hearing from me talk about 4Blocks, these chatboards and everything. (Sigh)
Mrs. J - Brad, our lit coaches are in classrooms weekly for about 25 minutes at a time, observing, reading with kids, talking with them, modeling
judy3ca - actually it's not quite dismissal--it's really til 1:45.
judy3ca - Night, cavey!
brad - that's nice Judy. I think that's what ours is supposed to be doing, but I rarely see her in my room (others, yes). I think she's being purposely pre-occupied. wink wink
Alta Rose - Night Cavey!
Mrs. J - Then they dialogue with a teacher for about 20 minutes weekly to dig into understandings of the reading/writing process
cavey - night guys!
Alta Rose - It sounds like it's really beneficial, Judy.
Mrs. J - Night
brad - cavey get the sheets turned down in that cabin
Mrs. J - Judy, how many teachers are at a grade level? Who is covering their classes?
judy3ca - That's too bad, Brad. Truthfully, she doesn't spend as much time in my room as I'd like. She's trying very hard to get some people to join the fun. She does bring people to my room to observe.
judy3ca - Alta, it's terrific!
cavey - It's bigger than a cabin- the whole ESIA can almost fit! Good night!
judy3ca - Kim, the kids are at specials (art, music, PE) once a week for the whole block of time and we have one permanent sub who covers them all (legal issue). We have 4 teachers K-3 and 3 teachers 4-5.
brad - she's just like a duck out of water. Most of the other lit coaches were elevated within building from reg ed to lit coach. She was transferred to ours because no one in our building applied (or got it, I don't know?0
Mrs. J - Interesting, Judy
Alta Rose - Being a lit. coach for a while would be excellent professional development for oneself as well!
Mrs. J - Is working with the lit coach optional?
brad - I also don't think she knows what to make of me, cause I hit her with the tough questions LOL. I've heard the terminology she throws around. I know I can really benefit from her experience though, so I'm selfish. She's Reading Recovery Trained
Mrs. J - What kind of questions, Brad?
judy3ca - Ours is reading recovery, too.
brad - Well, I'm in a building that has no clue what a running record is, but I'll run to her and ask for the formula to use in a running record to calculate reading rate. Stuff like that.
judy3ca - Collaboration time (when we meet) is not optional. But we can request her time--to help us.
Alta Rose - If she's RR trained, she should know that.
Mrs. J - Oh, not questions meant to test if she knows what she's talking about?
brad - No, I'm not testing her. They're genuine. She's just taken aback I think, because I know about these things she's supposed to be teaching us already
judy3ca - I guess I'm naive, I honestly thought everyone used running records these days.
Mrs. J - Well, I thought everyone took them. Not sure about the USED part
Alta Rose - Not in our school, Judy. I'd say most don't.
brad - It's not just me who knows about these things, It should be anyone out of university in the last five to ten years.
Mrs. J - My district started training teachers the year I was hired, so I've always used them. Can't imagine not
brad - Like Judy said, I'm shocked that everyone didn't know what one was when I got in this building
brad - teachers in my building still teach reading like I was taught
Mrs. J - You'd be surprised, Brad
judy3ca - Hmm, I'd say running records are the most valuable info we pass on about kids reading levels. We even added a fluency component this year (in addition to the oral reading and comprehension questions). Our formal running records take about 30 minutes per third grader--I hate the time but love what I learn.
judy3ca - Hi nan!
brad - There's one, I swear, who was on my team in third last year, that I swear is on a race through the basal.
Alta Rose - When do you all use them? The 4Block SSR book says that SSR is not the time for running records.
Mrs. J - 30 minutes? Yikes!
Mrs. J - Don't do 4 Blocks, so SSR is one time I do them
brad - Alta, I take a running record in my SSR. I only record mistakes though, so it's not a "fomal" running record.
judy3ca - Alta, I do mine before and after school mostly.
Mrs. J - I only spend about 10 minutes
Mrs. J - What do you consider "formal" Brad?
brad - If you do only a hundred word selection, it should only take a few minutes
Alta Rose - Before and after school?
judy3ca - I can do an informal rr (for me) in about 10 minutes, too, but the formal ones (for the multiple measures) take forever--and heaven forbid that the kid might pass 2 levels, LOL.
brad - Kim, I just don't see any reason to record all the "ticks" and repeats.
Alta Rose - I have kids who come on buses, so that wouldn't work for them.
brad - I only record the miscues (word in text and word spoken) self corrections and ommisions if significant.
judy3ca - I don't tick, but I do think repeats are valuable info.
naneb - how do you do them before and after school? almost all of our students ride a bus
judy3ca - Alta, I do those kids at lunch.
Mrs. J - I don't think that's what's important, Brad, if you capture what the reader is doing. The running record should be for you, so as long as you can make sense of it. The repeats can be beneficial to note though, depending on the level
brad - judy, can you elaborate on repeats
Alta Rose - If I have a copy of the text I only record miscues. Otherwise I do the checks.
judy3ca - I just draw an arrow over the repeated section
Mrs. J - Me too, Alta
brad - that's how I feel, Kim. As I become more experienced with running records and with record-keeping in general, I may increase my repertoire. LOL.
Alta Rose - Oh my, Judy, you are dedicated! <<<<Hanging my head in shame.>>>>
brad - Oh, Judy, I dont' have a copy of ttext. I use blank notebook paper (actually I use college blue exam books)
Mrs. J - When students start rereading, that's a sign they are monitoring their reading, even if they don't self correct
Mrs. J - That's a HUGE step for some
brad - nan do you do running records
judy3ca - Alta, LOL, nooooo, I just can't figure out how to justify giving up all of that instructional time--and here's a major reason....when we give the formal running records, I think they're invalid if the other kids can hear the same rr they'll have--I've had cheaters. I'm the only one who tests this way though.
naneb - I do them with my lowest group
Mrs. J - Judy, what are you considering a "formal" running record?
naneb - the Rewards program does a form of this but more for fluency practice and the kids read to each other and record errors while I time
brad - Alta, trust me, do them in your SSR block if you think they'd be valuable. The four blocks police won't getcha!
Alta Rose - It must be hard, though. Don't you have supervision during some of these times?
Mrs. J - Are you sure, Brad?
naneb - Judy, is this text they have never seen before?
judy3ca - Kim, we have 'programs' that have leveled running records. In grades K-3 it's DRA, in grades 3-5 it's BRI. BRI has a narrative and expository rr for each level and we have to give both.
Alta Rose - I know, brad, but I really like what they said about it being an informal share-what-you-are-reading and not "testing" time.
judy3ca - yup nan
Mrs. J - How often are you required to give them?
naneb - brad, I have used the rr from reading a-z
Mrs. J - So it sounds Jan that the running records from DRA/BRI are being used to level, not to give information about the student. Or is it both?
brad - we can't afford that use of instrructional time, Alta. That's how I rationalize it. I think I got that from Calkins. Remember what NRP report said, unmonitored silent reading without feedback has YET to show significant gains.
judy3ca - Kim, depends on the grade level. Little kids get them every trimester. Third and up--we only test the kids below the 50%ile on the standardized test during the 1st two trimesters. At the third trimester, we test them all.
Alta Rose - I do listen to them read, brad, and I ask them if they've made any connections, etc.
brad - The kids and I can "chat about books" at other times. This is my time to teach and assess.
Mrs. J - If you are listening to them read, couldn't you do then running record then, on the spot?
judy3ca - Yes, Alta, I've already asked my principal for a sub for a day at the end of the year--he said 'yes.'
Alta Rose - I do plan to use rubrics at times as well.
brad - that's what i do, mrs. J. Alta, you can switch it up, rr one week, book chat the next. besides in first and second, the books aren't real meaty to chat about anyway. In third, we "chatted" more.
Alta Rose - That's good, Judy. I did DRA one year. I found the info very valuable, but never continued it due to the time factor.
Alta Rose - True, brad. Good idea.
brad - Judy, do you do the informal rr's in leveled groups?
Alta Rose - Mrs. J--I'm listening to them read, but it's not 100 words to do the rr.
judy3ca - Occasionally, Brad, but not often. I'm going to confess something here: I listen to my struggling readers every day.
Mrs. J - What grade are you, Alta?
Alta Rose - Two.
brad - so when do you do them, judy, if not in leveled group time?
judy3ca - Brad, lol, I meant 'yes,' I do them in group time, but I only do them occasionally--maybe once a month.
brad - you listen to strugglers individually, or during their group time?
judy3ca - group time
judy3ca - and individually
brad - how many is that judy, that you consider struggling
judy3ca - 4
naneb - how many total students are in your class
brad - nan, how's the rewards thing working out?
judy3ca - 18 right now, but cap is 20
Alta Rose - Cap? You have a cap? You are so lucky!!!
naneb - I will know next week, we start passage reading usinf the strategy
judy3ca - brad, do you consider your whole class struggling?
brad - That's a nice size Judy
Mrs. J - I wish we had a cap. We have "reasonable effort" to keep at or below 26 (23 in a split) I have 23 right now in my 2/3
brad - save about 4 judy. LOL, the complette opposite of you
Alta Rose - Cap is 20 for primary grades???
judy3ca - Very nice size--let's hope the $$ holds out. When I first taught I always had 32, and I taught in a private school with 40.
brad - We were suppose to cap at 20 in K and 1 here, but our buildings are all sitting just above
Mrs. J - Mine is probably half and half right now with struggling/not struggling. The nonstrugglers are all substantially above grade level.
Alta Rose - I have 26, including 2 autistic children.
judy3ca - Right, Brad, that's about how my classes were when I had 32.
naneb - Brad, baby?
brad - I'm thinking in thte next few days, nan
naneb - make sure and let us know!
brad - I'm going in on Monday to tell them this will be my last week until the New Year.
Mrs. J - Part of our problem with class size is that they average all the classes in the building and look at the average
judy3ca - We have 'class-size reduction' in grades K-3. Then our district passed a bond to lower it in 4-8.
Alta Rose - I have 2 special needs, 2 in Learning Assistance, 4 receiving Early Literacy (2 of those almost at grade level) and the rest are fine.
judy3ca - We have 'class-size reduction' in grades K-3. Then our district passed a bond to lower it in 4-8.
Alta Rose - Oh, Judy, that's so wonderful.
Mrs. J - Do you have a sub lined up Brad?
judy3ca - I don't have kids who are "substantially above grade level."
naneb - judy, I am getting another student teacher
Mrs. J - Oh, Nan, by choice?
brad - not yet, Kim. Many absences in our building so many already have the subs willing to long term
judy3ca - nan, do you know anything about your new student?
naneb - I agreed but I kindof misunderstood what they were asking. I thought it was for a practicum of 2 weeks and it is for 8 weeks
Mrs. J - When I had my last baby two years ago, the sub was a nightmare.
judy3ca - oops, student teacher?
brad - judy, did you have anything you were saying earlier about almost all of my class struggling
naneb - I have her packet of information but that doesn't tell me alot
Mrs. J - The principal kept calling me and begging me to come back. Said I could bring the baby
Alta Rose - Oh my goodness, Mrs. J. Was she serious?
judy3ca - Brad, I've been there--I just had less 'spread' in my class.
Alta Rose - Or he.
naneb - I figure it has to be a better experience than the last one, plus I am more experienced with the block schedule than I was at the beginning of the year
brad - I'm not sure I have anyone I'd consider above, maybe three or four who are "on" and the rest of the 22 below.
Alta Rose - I have about 5 who are above.
brad - I'm basing it on F and P levels in their SSR books and running records
Mrs. J - Yes, she was serious. I went in once to talk to the sub and this boy did a cartwheel the length of the room. I teach at a school similar to Brad's and had a heck of a time getting them under control when I came back. I only worked a week at the beginning of the year before he was born, so didn't have time to get all the routines in place. I did NOT go back early though!
brad - Kim, that's why I'm kind've glad, it seems to be coming early. I think it'll be best if I take my 2 weeks now and then my 2 weeks of Christmas, and EVERYONE comes back fresh in the New Year
judy3ca - Good for you, Nan! I had a girl beg me to come observe so she could do her student teaching in our room. She spent the morning and then it didn't work out because I only have 3 ELs and she needed a bigger percentage--but she wrote me a lovely note saying my kids were 'engaged and enthralled.' I'm going to teach them that--and tell them every time they yak I'm going to say, 'act enthralled.'
Alta Rose - Lol, Judy!
Alta Rose - brb
Mrs. J - I agree, Brad. Never could time my pregnancies right though! I was always shooting for May
Mrs. J - Instead, I have July, August, September
naneb - LOL!! It should be fine this time. I have lost my one bad boy and my kids have the procedures and routines down to a habit
brad - Judy, any time-tested strategy you could throw my way for a class of strugglers would be much appreciated. You have my email
judy3ca - You know, I really think that ever since I started using MOT and really listening to kids, that they are a nightmare for subs.
Alta Rose - Why is that, Judy?
brad - Many are only comfortable at levels E, F, and G when at this time of year they should be in K and L
Mrs. J - My "aboves" came to me above--it's nothing I've done (although I did have them in first grade and would love to take the credit). I have one boy reading and comprehending at the 8th grade level, some 6th, most of the "aboves" are at 5th.
Mrs. J - They don't think though! They are book smart, but lack common sense in many situations
naneb - Judy, have you used How Many Days to America for questioning? I am going to start that next week with that book and then do The Lotus Seed the next week
judy3ca - Brad, it was a long time ago (remember I took 11 years off with my own kids) and teaching was very different then. But I'll think.
brad - Judy, since subs don't know MOT or 4 Blocks, I always get complaints that the sub "never did anything right"
Mrs. J - LOL, Brad. They should have fun while you are gone with your baby then
brad - "She didn't clap the word wall" "She didn't do the schema thing" "She didn't have DIRT (SSR) time"
brad - I was out on Tuesday this week with my sick son and that's all I heard on Wed.
judy3ca - Right, Brad. Alta, it's because my kids feel they lose their power when a sub comes--so they have to prove themselves (at least I think that's it). I finally wrote to the last guy to let them have their head--and he said, "Wow, they sure know how to do everything."
Alta Rose - Lol, Brad!
Mrs. J - Will you have to leave lesson plans or will the sub plan after the first couple days?
brad - I'm leaving them. I don't trust subs in my district.
naneb - we have to write all plans even for a long term sub
brad - (Of course, maybe they don't trust me since I don't leave worksheets and my plans say things like, 'activate schema about life on a farm')
judy3ca - Nan, I won't get to Eve Bunting until later in the year--she's pretty tough for my kids right now.
Mrs. J - Even for an extended period, Nan?
judy3ca - LOL Brad
Alta Rose - That's the hardest thing about 4Blocks and MOT-Leaving plans a sub understands.
judy3ca - Oh, I do leave some worksheets for subs.
Alta Rose - I've been away this week, too, so I pulled out the phonics worksheet.
Mrs. J - When I was on maternity leave, I wasn't paid, so I figured two weeks of plans was enough
naneb - we just read N.C Wyeth's Pilgrims so I thought it would be great text-text and also be good to start questioning
Alta Rose - I do have a 4Blocks outline on my desk that a sub should be able to understand.
judy3ca - Good idea, Nan.
brad - That's what I said to my colleague after Tuesday. I need to get some "sub packets" together. LOL
naneb - Mrs. J, yes the teacher does the plans, we have a teacher who just had a baby and she came in and did grades and brought the plans to the sub
Mrs. J - It is extremely hard to leave plans subs will understand. I try and line up subs who are familiar with my class. I never leave it up to our sub service
naneb - Brad and alta, I made cards with directions for all of the 4 blocks activities and I have them on big rings for a sub
judy3ca - I subbed for a year before I came back to work full-time. It was a true learning experience. Plus, I did grades K-12.
Mrs. J - Well, I guess there are some perks to where I work, after all!
Alta Rose - Yes, nan, I ran off formats for guided reading and put them on a ring. Maybe it was from your site.
naneb - I have a tub behind my desk with emergency plans and all of the material ready to go, we are required to keep it up to date
brad - Nan, I leave my plans and write out special sub plans when I do 4B and it doesnt' matter, they never follow. This year I plan with colleague, so I called her Tues, to tell her I wouldn't be in, fill in the sub, etc, and even with that help, the sub STILL didn't follow my plans. Big stack of worksheets on the table when I walked in on Wed.
naneb - I did word wall games too and the other word block activities
Alta Rose - I can't imagine worrying about planning when you're off on mat leave. Having a baby (esp. first) is overwhelming enough! (At least for me it was.)
brad - so, screw it, I'm just going to start doing sub packets.
naneb - I will be gone 8 days in January so having a student teacher will be good
judy3ca - When I subbed, it was often difficult to follow the plans.
Mrs. J - I don't think subs think kids will "behave" if not loaded down with worksheets.
brad - which is so funny, cuz when I was subbing, I would've LOVED to walk in and see 4B or MOT plans
brad - I had one teacher I subbed for a lot. It was her last year' she teaches at local university. Loved subbing for her because she left non-worksheet plans, and she loved having ME sub cause she knew I could follow her format
Mrs. J - They want them to stay in their seats and work silently (at least most of the ones I've seen)
judy3ca - Okay, friends, I'm off. Good night!
naneb - then they better stay out of my room!! LOL!
Mrs. J - Night, Judy
brad - gnite judy
Alta Rose - Take Care, Judy!
Mrs. J - I better go too. We're Christmas tree hunting tomorrow
brad - we are too, kim
naneb - the assistant principal came into my 8th grade class when we were doing Rewards and I think he thought they were too loud but the program is very interactive
Alta Rose - 'Night, Mrs. J.
brad - explain more nan
brad - how is it interactive? what's the design of the lessons?
Mrs. J - Good luck in your search, Brad--and with the baby. Makes me want to have another one!
brad - good to see you again, Kim
naneb - they have to answer together for part of it and then they read to each other out loud, 1's read to 2's and then 2's read to 1's
brad - I want to do more of that kind of stuff, Nan. More interactifve.
brad - is it short stories or. . .?
naneb - Brad, first it teaches vowel combinations, such as (ow), it teaches to first try the long o sound and then to try the other sound so, we read the rows of sounds together and then I call on them to read individually
brad - Like, "ow, ow, ow, ow?"
naneb - then, we read prefixes and suffixes and what they call word parts, syllables, we follow the same format together, individually
naneb - then they underline vowel sounds and then circle prefixes and suffixes and we read words and finally sentences and then passages
naneb - ow - like in blow and ow - like in crown
brad - are the sentences and passages stilted?
naneb - they are learning to use a strategy for decoding multi-syllable words
naneb - no the sentences and passages are more like from science and social studies books, real passages
brad - you think you could scan a sample lesson and email it? Just so I can get some ideas to throw around?
brad - It's interesting, because I was just thinking about setting up something liek this using the decodable books from readingaz
naneb - we read for perfect sentences, they practice silently and then with a partner and finally they read to me, I record perfect sentences for my 100 club
brad - and how do they get 100? was this your idea or the programs?
naneb - I have ordered a similar program for my lower kids, it is by the same authors, Phonics for Reading I think the rewards lessons would be too hard
naneb - It was from the presenter, they accummulate 100 perfect sentences
brad - I think so too, but I'm pretty creative. I'm just thinking of format
naneb - when I get the other programs I will send you a sample
naneb - I have ordered all three levels
brad - price?
brad - when do you do this work (are you four blocking this year)
naneb - I don't remember but I think it was around $70 with 5 student books and teacher material for each level, I ordered through special ed office so I didn't really worry about price
naneb - I do this as part of my 8th grade reading class
naneb - I will do the other with my 6th graders
brad - do the words, sentences, and passages all relate?
naneb - I am trying to do 4 blocks but it is not really working, I have three reading classes, a class for AR and a language class but they are different kids
Alta Rose - Guess I was too quiet. It threw me off.
Michelle - man.....I forgot!!
brad - Well, well, well, look what crawled out. . .
Michelle - hey, now
naneb - once they introduce a vowel combination it is practiced in every lesson, the words in the sentences use the word parts and prefixes and suffixes that have been introduced, you don't do sentences and passages until the second half of the program after all the other parts have been introduced
Alta Rose - Good to see you , Michelle.
naneb - Hi, Michelle
Michelle - hi! what good stuff did I miss tonight?
brad - I see. Again, thinking of setting something up like this for myself
brad - running records, thanksgiving customs, lazy colleagues, maternity leave
naneb - I will try to remember to bring the book home and scan one for you
brad - and literacy coaches
Michelle - my principal and some others returned from the training thing in Denver last week....my principal is so excited, ready to mandate...starting with eliminating recess..
brad - yikes, michelle, no no no to eliminating recess
Michelle - "They don't have recess in Denver" (and of course, they are perfect in Denver)
Alta Rose - Eliminating recess? Oh no!
Michelle - see any bandwagons around? you'll find my principal on all of them
Alta Rose - How can people understand that kids need those breaks, fresh air, exercise?
brad - recess is frowned upon here, but I still do it.
naneb - my 8th graders think it is boring but they do it and I am amazed at how much of a habit the strategy is getting to be, they read reprehensible and abolishment, so it is working
Alta Rose - On your own? We have school-wide recesses.
brad - someone told me that a mid morning recess is even better than a lunch recess.
brad - recess is your call around here, alta.
Michelle - but one good thing...my principal came in my room her first day back and said, "everything they were doing in their classrooms, you do in yours!"
brad - i thought you liked your principal michelle.
Michelle - so she and the lit. coordinator have decided that my room should be the "lab room"
Alta Rose - That means that you have to supervise every time your class has recess?
Michelle - I do....but she is too hasty sometimes
brad - yes, alta, but we have duty-free lunch per contract
Michelle - We always have to supervise our own recesses too, anyway.
brad - um, no pressure, michelle
Michelle - same as brad.
Alta Rose - I feel very strongly about this. Kids need recess!
Michelle - no kidding. I feel like I need to get out my lab coat and white gloves, too.
Alta Rose - OK, I'll stop.
Michelle - You're preaching to the choir, Alta
brad - don't you know, they don't play outside anyway (that
Michelle - You all finish your holiday shopping?
brad - my admin's reasoning, which is true, but still. . .
Alta Rose - I know.
brad - shyah
naneb - finished??? barely started!!
Alta Rose - They don't play outside?
Michelle - that's why I feel it's even more important that our kids have recess...if they don't play outside at home, they really need it at school.
Alta Rose - Almost finished.
brad - No recess is reprehensible (and nan's kids'll tell ya')
naneb - went to Walmart at 6:30 this morning and turned around and came home, the place was a madhouse!!
naneb - we have break
brad - yes, Michelle, that's what I think. They need it since they don't get it at home
Michelle - I was rushing around while you were all chatting trying to buy UNO Attack, which I put back earlier today.
Michelle - Now they are sold out.
brad - Michelle, we bought Uno attack too.
naneb - Michelle, buy it online
naneb - I am doing almost all of my shopping online
brad - It's based on an old game called Card Attack that we had and lost a lot of the cards, now Uno has bought it and changed it to Uno brand, and we bought it today
Michelle - I bought my mom a cheap DVD player from Walmart this morning. I got a raincheck for UNO Attack, but I wanted to give it to my son for his birthday next friday.
naneb - which one did you buy? Apex?
Michelle - I put the game back earlier, then came home and researched some of the toys online, and that one got many good reviews, so I went back for it...too late.
Alta Rose - That almost happened to me, Michelle.
naneb - I went to buy DVD players but they were sold out and I found better ones online
Michelle - yeah, Apex
naneb - I hope it works, the reviews online were not very good
brad - what do you expect, it's cheap!
Alta Rose - We always buy our daughter a collectable Barbie every Christmas...Was in Walmart not knowing which one to buy....The shelf was full of them. Came back the next day and got the last one. Whew!
Michelle - well, you can return anything to walmart, no problem...but hope we won't have to anyway
naneb - I will buy it online and have it shipped straight to my daughter, no gift wrapping and the shipping is cheaper
naneb - it was the same price online at Walmart as the sale price
brad - walmart online?
naneb - yup
Michelle - I went back to Walmart with my Target ad in hand for UNO Attack, but lost the ad on the way to the register...so went back to Target. I want my discount, darn it!
brad - I've noticed walmart online sells a lot of prof reading, but they don't sell them in stores. Hmmm....
Alta Rose - I keep forgetting you can buy other things online besides books!
naneb - Michelle, if you buy at Walmart online I bet you will have it by next Friday
Michelle - they don't even sell quality children's literature in the Walmart stores...what do you expect?
brad - I know, Alta, I get so annoyed when I do a search on Amazon and I have to specify books. I keep thinking, "What else, ya' idgets!?"
Alta Rose - Lol!
naneb - they did have lots of DK readers though
Michelle - I can buy it at my local walmart, if it comes down to it...I just wanted the discount
brad - GMTA nna
brad - GMTA NAN
Michelle - I know...I was amazed that all my toy research ended up going through Amazon
naneb - LOL!!!
Michelle - what's GMTA??
brad - what toys are you researching?
naneb - go to bizrate.com and they will help you find the best price online
naneb - Great Minds Think alike
Alta Rose - I think I will call it a night. I won't be here next week. Mom is coming to town and we are going to see Jamie and David (Gold medals) skate next Friday.
Michelle - I was looking at this Hot Wheels Car Factory that my son really, really wants...but the reviews were real poor
brad - nighty night alta
Alta Rose - Kurt Browning will be there, too.
Michelle - I reviewed the Crayon Factory...and went back to buy it. Now I can melt down and remold those stubby crayons!
Alta Rose - Goodnight.
brad - who reviews these things, kids? Cause if it's not kids. . .
naneb - sounds like fun
Michelle - I won't be here next week either, i dont think
Michelle - there are some kid reviews, some parent ones
brad - you'll be too busy melting crayons?
Michelle - they are from people who actually have bought and used the things.
Michelle - my son's birthday is friday
Michelle - my birthday is wednesday, so a very busy week
brad - happy happy michelle, if I don't see ya' before then
Michelle - thanks...
naneb - happy birthday, Michelle, my husband's birthday is Tuesday
brad - Well, apparently my son's birthday will also be sometime this week.
Michelle - and of course, i checked out UNO attack...it seems kids and adults alike really enjoy it.
Michelle - really, brad? sooner than expected, eh?
brad - We liked it when it was Card Attack, Michelle
Michelle - until the cards start wearing out, i guess...so I bought a replacement pack to be ready for that.
brad - Our cards never wore out. Of course #1 Son lost them before that could happen, I suppose
Michelle - ok brad, well, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday are taken, birthday-wise, so you'll have to have him Sun, Mon, Thurs, or Sat.
brad - Saturday is Pearl Harbor and Thursday is Nichole's nephew. . .
Michelle - OK, Sun or Mon, then.
Michelle - so...in 2 or 3 days...I'll have to keep checking in
brad - okay, well I better go, because for all I know, she's having it (hospital is right around the corner)
Michelle - wouldn't she tell you?
Michelle - I guess I'll see you all in a couple weeks, maybe
brad - we have tree shopping and company tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll find time to check in. You guys do nothing for my addictions.
naneb - bye Brad, I am going too! talk to y'all later
brad - she told me for first son, but I slept on!! LOL
