Sunny - I have strep throat and tonsilitis. Rather suddenly hit me over the weekend.

Sunny - wow, I can't seem to get ANY long terms, longer than 3 weeks-month

Sunny - yes! I couldn't remember what strep was like, but now i know. Tonsilitis was actually the worst of it, though

Sunny - I last had it in 12th. Couldn't sleep all weekend, and had to drink all liquids.

Frogsy - I feel kinda icky tonight... just all over achy... my cat likes to sit on me and knead me, but it felt like someone was pricking me with pins

tired of waiting - first long term was in Learning Support...2nd long term was in Learning support also....and now I'm finally in 2nd grade!

OSBNS - So, tired of waiting....you get a position for a school year& then what?
Sunny - I think I would hate it, too, Bluette
Bluette4afew - work almost every day, sometimes have more than one call in a day, sigh, but for schools with very low sub rates ofcourse
Frogsy - I worked all 3 days last week, but no classroom... Monday was 1/2 day parapro, Wednesday was full day library clerk, and Friday was 1/2 day counseling secretary.

OSBNS - Bluette, I applaud you for going back. I have 6 grad credits...and can't get motivated again!

Sunny - I worked 2 days last week, and din't answer phone today. i figured that would be a little better than saying *NO*, and besides it was a late call.
Frogsy - Sunny... I wrote them up, and my mother suggested getting an 8x10 frame instead of laminating them... lol... she's a full time HS special ed teacher, and she thought it was the most ridiculous thing.
Bluette4afew - stayed home today to work and very sick to boot

Frogsy - Sunny... definitely... frames are cheap too, I think 2 dollars at Target. Now I just have to get a classroom job!

Frogsy - My boyfriend will be signing up for subbing next week... he wants to teach HS Englihs
Bluette4afew - I was, but it is so tough with new rules, i could not do the fast track which would have had me cert by Sept and under old rules

Sunny - Frogsy, That's good that your boyfriend is a teacher, so he understands things better. Mine isn't, so there are things he doesn't get

Bluette4afew - done that sunny, refuse to do it any more, couldn't stand driving late at night in snow
Sunny - I sometimes turn down sub jobs, if i know i won't be comfortable. example, twice I was called as sp ed aide, which meant restraining kids, changing diapers, etc. That I won't do, not even to get a job.

Sunny - Yes, Bluette, know exactly what you mean. Hate the snow driving, but fortunately I live 5 min away.

Sunny - There were a few days I've turned down due to illness, I have been very sick this year, like every 2 weeks! so, that may count against me.
OSBNS - tired of waiting, how many schools have you worked for if I might ask?
tired of waiting - even though it's going into it blind when you sub...maybe have the principal stop in and observe a little
Sunny - I make over $11 at my part time job, or else it probably wouldn't be worth the rush, eating dinner at 3 PM, etc...

Bluette4afew - I have had more illness this year too
Sunny - Everything's been crazy with subbing. Apparantly, the teachers are upset because she calls us late, after 8 AM when school starts at 8:15 or 8:40. she also doesn't send people when teachers are out, so teachers don't get coverage.
Frogsy - Over 11 in retail... may have to look into that
Sunny - The teachers have been complaing to union, so maybe this will help.
OSBNS - I was a sub while finishing up college. Then I was a Title I teacher for 2 1/2 years. In June, I got my pink slip...so now I'm back to subbing..hence OldSubBecomesNewSub!
Bluette4afew - not where I live!! retail pays very little, mostly kids working at night
Sunny - Yes, it's not bad, Frogsy, but between subbing and that, I still barely make my bills, believe it or not.

Sunny - I graduated 5 years ago, took a couple of master's classes and a class for certification. I'm all set w/ school for awhile.

OSBNS - That's great tired of waiting! When I did a long term..6 week, I made subs pay for 1st 20 days & the teacher's pay...I made it only a few days w/teacher's pay!
Sunny - * tired of waiting*, did you ever hear about the higher step you are, that it's harder to get hired? That's what I hear a lot, I hope it's not tru, I think I'm on 2nd

Frogsy - Our pay goes up to $180/day when you're in the same position for ... I think 20 consecutive days

Sunny - I thought about going back for sped, but I'd have to go full time, and I decided that sped's not my thing. i'm not cut out for it.
Frogsy - My mom is miserable... had to get her emergency cert. in sped and has to drive 100 miles 1 way to school

Sunny - That's true, OSBNS, but if you're certified in sped, sometimes you get a position that you can't get out of...and if you don't like working in sped much, it isn't worth it.

OSBNS - Yep, Sunny that's my dilemma! I'm thinking of Reading or maybe just Elementary which would increase my grade levels!
