Substitute Teachers Meet the 3rd Monday of each Month
Bleuette - hello fellow subs, er, guest teachers...
Stanley - Bleu, welcom back from París!
I note the change in spelling since your return!
Ksub - I like that, guest teachers
Bleuette - its the new French me
Stanley - How about "Visiting Ts?" That's our "official" name in San Diego City Schools!
Bleuette - I met with a teacher there, he teaches French and English in a Technical school
Bleuette - today I had a fun schedule, lots of running around
Stanley - Did you hit any of the wine regions in Fr? [The ex-"professional" wine buyer in me HAS to know!
]
Stanley - Bleu, how so running around? No workie?
Stanley - Ksub, are you a Kinder "specialist?"
Bleuette - no, just went to some non-traditional places, 2 cemetaries, the town where my mother grew up, out in the country with my French friend
Ksub - I don't know. maybe. ha ha
Ksub - I sub K-2 and some classes in middle and high school
Bleuette - running, inside the school, study hall, a math exam, helping in sped, then working in the LIBRARY
Stanley - So, you're of Fr extraction, @ least on one side? Also, a couple of weeks ago I took a local class with a Fr lady who used to teach ESL in a Paris MS, if I understood her correctly.
Bleuette - did drink French wine and beer though
Ksub - I'm going to take a Spanish class this summer at the local college. Stanley, do you know Spanish?
Bleuette - saw my mothers school too
Stanley - Hmmm, Bleu, sounds like a "classic" roving/floating position. Am I correct?
Stanley - Ksub, "Mande?" [Sí, hablo suficiente!
]
Bleuette - yep, a hamster wheel
Ksub - Stanley, yep, I guess so. That's good.
Stanley - Bleu, my acquaintance from the class spoke English with a British accent! [I guess she'd learned her English there...
]
Ksub - Stanley, what classes do you sub?
Bleuette - a lot of those assigns now, conferences with parents, and things like that
Stanley - Ksub, where are you that you want to take Spanish?
Ksub - I live in Kentucky
Bleuette - my friend went to univ. in Dublin, has a cute but non-french accent
Stanley - Ksub, I'm TRYING just to do K-5 self-contained, though I've been known to do MS & [VERY occasionally] HS. All this wk I've a bilingual G-1/2.
Stanley - Ksub, is there a need for Spanish in KY?
Ksub - Stanley, Can you pick up enough Spanish in 1 sem. to communicate?
Ksub - Stanley. yes. We have A LOT of Spanish speaking people here working on farms, etc.
Bleuette - Spanish speaking kids in most of Syracuse area schools today
Stanley - Bleu, this wk I WAS to have roaved EVERY single day -- 4x @ my fav site, & once elsewhere. However, last Thurs my fav site asked me to take the BG-1/2 all wk. Though I **LOVE** roving, I do whatever they wish!
Bleuette - Stanley, how are your eyes? I hope your problems are resolved
Ksub - Hi LK!!
LK - Hi Ksub
Bleuette - hi LK
LK - I've been doing a long-term since March and I'm really nervous about a job for fall
Stanley - Ksub, I'm NOT a good one to ask about the 1 semester thing: I started "informal" Span in G-3, not taking it "formally" [i.e., 1st yr] until G-9. So, though I'm **SHODDY**, I never TOTALLY forget it...
Bleuette - I am looking for summer job now
LK - I keep looking at my student loans and get really scared.
Bleuette - where do you live LK?
LK - Michigan
LK - You?
angel - hello
Bleuette - hi angel, join us
Stanley - Bleu, ol' left eye is corrected to about 20:30. Reading is perhaps the diciest prospect, though that MAY be as a result of my progressive trifocals... But, THANK YOU for asking!!
LK - Hi Angel
angel - hey i had a horrible interview, anybody have any suggestions?
LK - What went wrong?
Bleuette - my mother in law is having eye problems, macular degeneration
Stanley - LK, if you've a credential, Los Angeles WOULD be interested!
Stanley - Bleu, sorry to hear about your mo-in-law...
angel - almost wish i could move but in pa to stay since i got married
LK - Yikes--I have husband with good job house, and 2 teens. We're not going anywhere.
LK - That's why I'm so nervous about getting a job here.
Bleuette - she is having a consultation in June, last doctor was disappointed in results of laser surgery
angel - this was my first interview with a school district so did not know what to expect
LK - I'm always hard on myself. Maybe it will be ok.
Bleuette - what kind of questions angel?
Stanley - angel, I've heard competition is FIERCE in PA. Have any of you ever checked out the Interview Questions in T.Net's Lesson Plan "Bank?"
angel - i am working now and should have went in with the attitude that i had a job maybe then i would not have been so nervous
angel - i did but they asked me questions that i was not expecting and did not really know how to answer them
Stanley - Danielle, Hello! Jump right in!!
angel - i actually interviewed in nj
angel - how many have jobs?
LK - I've got a sister in law teaching in Warminster.
angel - that is not too far from me
Stanley - angel, you mean what they asked was significantly different than T.Net's stash?
LK - I just got my certificate in January. I've worked as a para in the schools for 8 years.
angel - lk where at?
Danielle - Hello. I don't actually have anything useful to say, but I enjoy reading the sub board, so I thought I'd check this out
LK - Michigan
angel - stanley, some of the questions were how would you teach a science lesson how would you have answered
Bleuette - Danielle, nice to talk with you, where do you live?
angel - i think my nerves got to the best of me
Danielle - Illinois
LK - I've done a 3 month long term 2nd grade and now my second stint at library Media
Bleuette - do you teach all grades?
Stanley - angel, I'm waiting for "referrals" to schools in Los Angeles. However, I'm not at ALL sure I can make the move this July, which is when their year-arounds start. Frankly, I think I'll be looking towards July of '03.
Bleuette - never had a long term more than 4 days
Danielle - I am just a college student now, but I am graduating in Dec. and am trying to decide if I want to sub
Ksub - I am going to miss working this summer.
angel - are you moving for a job or other reasons
Danielle - I didn't actually come here with the intention of asking you all this, nut would you sub if you didn't have to?
LK - I've learned a lot doing long term. Plus here the pay is double the normal sub rate
Bleuette - it is a challenge to sub, but the experience is unbelievable, always something new
Stanley - LK, library Media would be library computers? Also, Bleu, 4 days is the most you've had consecutively? Is that per your wishes?
LK - It's a great chance to try something and walk away from mistakes.
angel - well good bye all and good luck
LK - library media--library skills and then computer lab
Bleuette - no, its cause I am not certified
Danielle - So it could help me be a better teacher with being allowed to experiment and try other people's ideas?
LK - I have a folder to write down great ideas and bulletin board ideas
Stanley - Danielle, GREAT question! Just last wk a Subbing friend acurately stated my position: "If I hit the lottery, I'd sub FOREVER!" Is that any help?
Bleuette - absolutely, great to see how others teach
Danielle - I think that I would be bothered by never forming connections. Is that an issue with any of you?
LK - I've only had a couple of bad days. Special Ed is not for me!
Stanley - angel, **BEST** of luck to ya'!
Danielle - Sub forever? Wow.. I guess it can be fun then
Bleuette - one school will be your main one and you will make friends there, get repeat classes
Stanley - Danielle, also there ARE "connections" -- they're just of a "different" nature than those of a contracted classroom T.
Danielle - Is that common for most subs to have one main one? I know that Magoo and a few others do, but it seems like a lot of people are often in new schools?
Bleuette - i enjoy sped, small classes, kids have a great lead teacher who maintains discipline
LK - When one secretary hooks into you--you get lots of calls for planned absences
Ksub - Hi Bleuette. Have you been a sub for a long time?
Stanley - Also, Danielle, when subbing you've **GREAT** flexibility -- **NO** papers to correct!!
LK - Here we're expected to do all the kids work on this day.
Danielle - Stanley- exactly what sorts of connections?
Danielle - Do you all wake up early and get ready to sub, just in case?
Bleuette - second year of subbing, last year I was in 10 schools, 4 districts, this year mostly in one school
LK - yes. Late calls are not fun if not ready
Stanley - Danielle, I think it's common to get narrowed down. However, that demands upon the organization & PROACTIVITY of the site that likes you!
Stanley - Danielle, I virtually **NEVER** am still jobless the morning of. Hmmm... as for the types of connections..
Ruff - Hi all, hope everyone is well and having fun.
Bleuette - I do all grades and subjects, until I have a bad time, then refuse to do it, ie: Welding class
Bleuette - hell Ruff, my hero!!
Bleuette - hello I mean
Ksub - Bleuette. How about high school PE? I try to stay away from that.
Bleuette -
Ruff - Thanks Bleuette. I see Danielle is getting some good advice.
Stanley - ...they'd be kids calling out your name across the playground. Or, perhaps giving you "tokens" like their art work.
LK - I always introduce my self and explain I want to be a nice sub. Kids are always worried about mean subs.
Bleuette - don't do any PE either
LK - I only do El. No big kids
Danielle - Oh I am!
Stanley - Ruff, fellow San Diegan!
Can you believe that about our colleague with jury duty in Long Beach? Miserable, huh?
Ksub - Stanley, how long have you been a sub?
Ruff - Danielle, If I don't get called by 9:30 PM, I call in an say I am unavailable. That way I don't ever get a wake up call at 5 AM.
Bleuette - Ruff is a real hero, he wrote THE book on subbing, a plug for you, Ruff
Ruff - Jury duty really throws a wrench into teacher's lives. I'm subbing now for one on duty 4 days this week.
Bleuette - see my new spelling, it is because i went to France
Stanley - Ksub, I'm in Yr 6: About 1,100 days an additional 100 as a Leave Replacement T.
Ruff - Thanks Bluette. It is now being used in 24 states. I'm thrilled.
Ruff - Stanley, have you always gotten out of jury duty in SD?
Bleuette - you are a reat success
LK - Good luck all. I'm off to write a cover letter.
Stanley - Ruff, I, for one, appreciate the way you so **GENEROUSLY** respond & SHARE on the Board!
Ruff - Thanks Stanley! You are a terrific contributor yourself. Great mind!
Stanley - Ruff, I've gotten off twice. But ain't it tacky how they won't CONFIRM that you're excused? I mean, what if your request never arrived? Would that mean a bench warrant?!? ;-(
Stanley - Ksub, how much more education will you need to become certified in KY?
Ruff - Stanley, you are right, I never heard back from the most recent request. The first one I was in the pool when asked if I should be excused.
Bleuette - well, it is getting late, must say goodnight
Ruff - By LK. Enjoy the rest of the year.
Ruff - Goodnight Bluette...sleep tight!zzzzz
Bleuette - bye everyone, tslk to you again.....
Danielle - I am going to go to. Thank you all for the advice and for your posts on the boards! I read them regularly!
Stanley - Bleu, is it "Adieu?" [Maybe I should just stick with "Buenos noches!"
]
Ruff - Danielle, keep those questions coming on the board. There are lots of experienced educators that will keep your crop full of ideas and suggestions. Bye.
Stanley - Ruff, maybe it's just down to the 2 San Diegans?!?
Ksub - Stanley, I have an "emergency" certification to sub.
Ruff - Talking on a chat board is a blast. There is no other activitiy like it, is there. This week will be my last week of subbing for the school year.
Stanley - Just before comeing here, I posted AGAIN about the Sub "shortage" in SDCS. I mean, 168 UNFILLED jobs last Fri, & more today?!?
Ksub - In Kentucky, you have to have 64 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA to sub.
Ruff - Hi Ksub, how long do they give you to get your certification?
Stanley - Ksub, well subbing is, IMO, **SUPERB** lead-up to student teaching!
Ruff - Stanley, I haven't heard anything about a shortage in North County.
Ruff - Hi Amy, how are you doing?
Amy - Hi everyone, I'm fine thank you, and you?
Stanley - Well, the "problem" may be pretty much limited to City Schools. Some days are **UNBELIEVABLY** heavy with district-mandated in-services!!
Ksub - Ruff, I don't have any plans of returning to college. I can sub forever here with a "emergency" certification. Is that what you meant?
Ruff - Ksub, wow! I though you were given a certain period of time to get the proper credential for subbing.
Amy - So, what is your biggest pet peeve about subbing?
Stanley - Ksub, I think Ruff & I are asking what it would take education-wise for you to become contracted in KY?
Ruff - Stanley, perhaps the city schools reputation as being difficult and threatening is discouraging new subs from jumping into the fire.
Ksub - I would have to have a Bachelors degree and a teaching certificate
Ruff - Stanley, do most of the subs in your school have credentials?
Stanley - Amy, my pet peeve is [apparently] regarded as trivial by my major employer. It's that there is NO real uniformity as to how long before the kids start that we're supposed to report.
Ruff - Welcome to Pat the Bookworm! where are you subbing?
Stanley - Ksub, a teaching cert is obtained by student teaching when you're a Sr? Also, didn't you say you've a BA?
Amy - Once, I had a previously arranged job to teach math in 7th grade, when I arrived, they told me to sub in the Home Ec. room. The reason was because, they gave my job to a guy and wanted me in the kitchen. I said no.
Ksub - Stanley, no, I don't have a BA.
Stanley - Amy, the switch was tacky -- unless the other Sub was a known quanity, & they INTENTIONALLY give him the tougher assignment because of THAT!
Ruff - Amy, when you agree to a job assignment they should honor your decision and try to slough you off to a kitchen, etc.
Amy - I hear ya, no way....I got my math class.
Ruff - Amy, I meant, NOT slough you off!
Pat the Bookworm - I sub in Sparta and Tilden, Illinois. This is near St. Louis, Mo.
Stanley - Ruff, I truly no longer have a sense as to WHAT City Schools is doing re Emergency Certs for Subs!
They go thru phases of terminating Subs for lack of credentials -- only to rehire MORE! Go figure, right?
Ruff - Pat, Stanley and I are out here in Sunny San Diego. How long have you been subbing? Any problems you would like to throw out to the group?
Ruff - Stanley....I agree totally....grrrrr!
Ruff - Bye Amy!
Stanley - Ruff, a "personal" question, if I might: What kind of music do you like?
Ruff - Stanley: I'm a folk/country music lover and when I get tired of that I go for the classical.
Ruff - Pat: What kind of sub jobs do you like best?
Stanley - Pat, ya' still there?
Are your areas of IL fairly tough? Also, have you been impacted by flooding?
Stanley - Ruff, I asked because I'm a **HUGE** "smooth jazz" buff, & this coming weekend is the annual concert in the Gaslamp. I'll be funkin'/boogyin' away this Sat, my friend!
Ruff - What-d-ya bet she got a phone call?
Pat the Bookworm - I have been subbing for nine years.I am in a unique position in that my husband and I also manage a motel and we live where we work so I like teaching to get away from the motel. My frustration is that some days I will have 2 or 3 calls and other days I will have none.
Ruff - Stanley: I hope you have a blast! I like Dxieland type jazz, but the reallly free form stuff gets to me rather quickly.
Stanley - Pat, check out my posts about the Sub shortage in San Diego City Schools, the nation's 8th largest district. U N B E L I E V A B L E !!!!
Ksub - Stanley, do you have a BA?
Stanley - Ruff, the free formers tend to "HATE" what I most cherish. If you can get FM 98.1 in Vista, you can listen anytime as it is 24/7.
Ruff - Pat: Usually once you establish yourself as a great sub you will be booked a couple of months ahead. Perhaps the school district is too small. Subbing by nature is apt to be feast or famine for many.
Pat the Bookworm - No flooding in Sparta, but lots of rain. A tornado struck my home area in Wayne County a few weeks ago. I enjoy subbing in the high schools.
Ruff - Stanley: I'll check it out. Do you get Directv Music channels?
Stanley - Ksub, I got my BA in Psych 1 course shy of a BS in "Social Relations" in '77. Then, in '94-'96 I took what I needed for my teaching credential. [Heretofore CA has been what is known as a 5th yr state.]
Pat the Bookworm - I like blue grass , country, cajun, and classical music.
Ruff - Pat: I enjoy both the high school and middle school kids.
Stanley - Ruff, Directv Music is a Cable extra? Are you on Daniels? [Dad & I are on COX with NO extras.]
Stanley - bb, GREETINGS!!
Ruff - Pat: I'm glad to see Blue Grass making a comeback. I play the O'brother where art thou" CD almost every day. Allison Krausse has done really well.
banished brian - hello stanley! where's livingstone?
Ruff - Stanley: It is the small dish satellite system. No commercial music in all formats.
banished brian - Is there a way to get into Room 1 from here without having to log off folks?
Stanley - GOOD one, bb!
When I was a Welfare Eligibility Worker, I once had a client who had named her son "Brain." My co-workers & I figured she hadn't known how to spell "Brian..."
Ruff - What's in room 1? And, I have no idea...just log off and go.
Pat the Bookworm - I loved the O Brother movie. We will be going to Mt. View, Arkansas in June. It is the folk music capital of the world.
Stanley - bb, Try clicking on the "change rooms" "button" which is to your left [at least on a Mac...]
Ruff - Pat: Have a fun vacation. I've never been to a blue grass festival even though they have a couple just a few miles from here in Julian, CA every year. I play the guitar and sing. Do you play an instrument?
banished brian - Well she could have named her child worse names than "Brain"! Right!
Ruff - Stanley: did you upgrade to OS 10 yet? I did and having a blast.
Ksub - Hello bb. Where are you from?
Pat the Bookworm - I took piano lessons as a child. I did not keep up with it. I prefer to listen.
banished brian - Well great chatting with you all!
Stanley - Ruff, wherre did you learn HTML in order to make your Website? As for OS 10...
banished brian - oops sorry K I was going to leave
Ruff - Pat: Good listeners are always appreciated!
Ksub - OK. Talk to you later. bye.
banished brian - As far west as you can go and still be in the Us K!
banished brian - Not rude by nature.
Ksub - bb. What grades do you sub?
Ruff - Stanley: Lycos site is free and they provide all the directions. It is every easy. I type and then upload writing and JPEGs.
banished brian - But my goodness are we educators lacking in social skills ......
banished brian - Not a sub K but not welcomed in Room 1 it appears ~!
banished brian - Yourself!
Ksub - What is in room 1?
banished brian - Thats where all the "Real" teachers hang out K!
Stanley - ...it won't "fly" on my Peforma 6115CD with maxed out memory, a G3 card, & about 40x the storage space with which it was made! [Can you believe I'm still chuggin' along with a 'puter I purchased in 12/94?!?]
banished brian - Congrats Stanley!
Ruff - banished brian: How long have you had a chip on your shoulder?
Magoo - I'm late, BOY am I late, sorry!!!
Ksub - Hi Magoo
Ruff - Stanley: I had a 6220 and gave it to my daughter and last year went with the G4. Save your pennies, it is worth it.
Magoo - I hate it when Life gets in the way of fun.....
Ruff - Hi Magoo! Good to see you.
Magoo - are we talking about computers???
Ksub - Magoo. Room 1 is where all the "real" teachers hang out.
banished brian - Ruff! Pleased to meet you...did something hit home?
Magoo - Hi, Ruff, hi Stanley, hi Brian (why are you banished?), hi Ksub
Ksub - Banished brian. We are "real" teachers too.
banished brian - hi magoo!
Magoo - I'm a 'real' teacher.....
Magoo - I don't go to the chatroom much anymore.
banished brian - Great!
Pat the Bookworm - Hello Magoo.
Stanley - Ruff, I figure I'll try to hold off until I do the LAUSD "thing" -- probably in July '03. Then, I buy SOMETHING -- probably still Mac since I think most of LAUSD uses them.
Magoo - oops, sorry, hi Pat!!
Magoo - Stanley, what is LAUSD ??? Laser Ants Understand Stinky Doo-doo???
Ruff - We need a definition perhaps? All adults are teachers, some do it better than others. Some can facilitate learning in large groups on any subject. As a sub I love getting some excitement and interest in a subject and watch those students run with it.
banished brian - I agree Magoo. Very oppressive of different thinking at times in there...
Magoo - Large Animal Ulcers Smell Dirty???
Stanley - Magoo, have you finally **FULLY** recovered from you pneumonia?
Ruff - Stanley: Are you going to make the move? I hope you don't regret it.
Magoo - Lions And Unicorns Sing Deeply???
Ruff - Magoo: How come all the golden apples are women?
banished brian - Evening all and hopefully we will meet again.
Magoo - Stanley, I hope so---the docs were arguing at one point, whether or not I'd actually had it!!! But, my voice is gravelly now, from all that coughing. I sound like Lauren Bacall on a bad day.
Magoo - I want to know where brian's been banished from
Ruff - I liked Lauren Bacall.
Stanley - Magoo, unfortunately there's probably some truth to your predictions about the acronym!
But, more commonly, it stands for Los Angeles Unified School District.
Magoo - Ruff, I have no idea. I started the GA board 2 years ago, but it's changed a lot since then.
Pat the Bookworm - I had a really great 2 day assignment last week ! Third grade with only 9 students in the class.
Magoo - Stanley....ahhhh.....I keep forgetting you are in Calif.
Magoo - HOW DID YOU GET ONLY 9 KIDS?????
Stanley - Ruff, because of the way they hire there, I **THINK** perhaps I can avoid the STINKIEST areas. Hey, & some of SDSC isn't particularly sweet, ya' know!
Magoo - Stanley, how's the eye ???
Ruff - Stanley: I sincerely wish you the very best. Keep in tough with the board.
Magoo - My computer is acting up again.....don't know why, it's only 5-6 yrs. old.
Stanley - Correct to about 20:30, though I'm sometimes still bother while reading. [A function of the progressive trifocals I now wear?] But, **THANKS** for askin'!!
Pat the Bookworm - It's a small school.
Magoo - Pat, I guess it's a small school......where do you sub?? I'm in Washington
Stanley - Ruff, I don't currently plan on moving for about 1 yr. [45 yrs of disorganization here, ya' know?
] Meanwhile...
Ruff - Stanley: Progressive Trifocals are more difficult to use than standard tri's. I use the tri's and the area of perfect focus is larger and not graduated. Didn't we discuss this before?
Pat the Bookworm - I am in southern Illinois. Sparta has a population of 5000.
Ruff - Ksub: How are you doing now?
Magoo - SPARTA ??!!!??? You're in SPARTA???
Magoo - I've got relatives in Mt. Carmel !!
Pat the Bookworm - I used to live in
Stanley - ...I'll get another yr of subbin' on the books, as MANY additional units as I can cram in. With luck, might I then start in LAUSD @ about 57K?!? [It **IS**, ultimately, about the $$, ya' know...
]
Pat the Bookworm - Fairfield which is near Mt. Carmel
Pat the Bookworm - Sorry about that split post.
Magoo - My father's older brother raised his family in Mt. Carmel.....my aunt still lives there!
Stanley - Ruff, I don't THINK we discussed it. So, you prefer standard tris over the progressive? The reading problems I note are largely peripheral: When I'm hold up a shared reading for the wee ones!
Ruff - Stanley: The problem is that if you get into a good school area, the living costs are higher too!
Magoo - They used to go to the dentist in Sparta, I remember the boys (my cousins) fussing about it.
Ksub - Ruff, what was the question?
Magoo - My grandparents lived in Princeton, Indiana, my dad was raised there.
Magoo - Pat, do you know about the Tri-State Tornado of 1925??? I think Sparta was hit--not sure, tho
Magoo - Stanley, my hubby figured out that I need to sub another 6 years to get Medicare.............
Ruff - Ksub: I think I asked How are you doing?
Stanley - Ruff, I'm likely going to be shooting for the Bell/Huntington Park areas: Almost TOTALLY Latino, & the schools have *LOTS* of provisionally credentialed Ts! Moreover, I can use my Spanish skills PLUS my San Diego "barrio" experience!
Pat the Bookworm - There is a terrific restaurant in Mt. Carmel called Hog Heaven. Their specialty is bbq.
Ksub - OK now, The electricity just went out just long enough to knock out my computer. It's always going off here.
Magoo - I haven't been to Mt. Carmel in years and years. Not since we moved out here. My aunt and uncle were square-dancers for decades. He worked in the local post office.
Magoo - Ksub, are you having a storm, that the elec went out??
Stanley - Chatters, Mt. Carmel is REAL close to where the infamous "thong" incident recently occurred!
Ksub - Ruff. no. If the wind blows it goes out.
Stanley - Magoo, even WITH Medicare, don't you still have to pay quite a bit/month?
Pat the Bookworm - Yes I know about that tornado. My father's parents took him and his brother to see the damage. I know it hit this area not sure about Sparta though.
Magoo - Well, this machine is driving me nuts tonight, so I shall say goodnight to you all and hope you all have a good week.
Magoo - Pat, I have a photo of my dad and his 3 brothers standing amidst a pile of lumber...what used to be their house.
Stanley - Magoo, **LIKEWISE**!!
Magoo - Stanley, I dunno......I make hubby understand all of that.
Magoo - toodles, folks!!
Ksub - bye Magoo
Stanley - Jenn, how ya' doin'?
Ksub - I graduated from Bible college last night. I have another Associate degree.
jenn - I'm fine. How are you?
Stanley - Ruff, in creating your web site, did you have to use any special software, such the Macromedia stuff?
Ksub - Jenn. Where are you from?
Stanley - Ksub, My kudos on the diploma!
jenn - I am in St. Louis
Redwood - Hi Again: I got cut off by my server and when I logged back on Ruff was taken as a name. So....I'm on twice!
Ksub - Jenn. How do you like to sub?
Stanley - Redwood, are you from Northern CA by any chance?
Redwood - Stanley: No special software!
Stanley - Ummm... scratch that, Ruff/Redwood!
jenn - Substituting is okay. It can be very challenging.
Redwood - Stanley: That used to be my old CB handle up in Sonoma county. Also, being 6'4" tall, I can get away with it.
Ksub - Thanks Stanley
Stanley - Red, well, thru San Diego Community Colleges I'm considering taking some courses on building a web page. I'd use it for my school in LAUSD, where they might not be ALLOWED to use a sever like Lycos.
Stanley - Whew... a lot of coming & going here, huh? {G}
Ksub - yes
Stanley - Hmmm... MIGHT be down to just you & me, Ksub: Sometimes posters' names are still listed on top even though they've departed...
Ksub - Is school still going on where you are?
Stanley - Talkin' about 'puters... Just last night I downloaded a browser called "Opera." So far I like it JUST fine, though it's not as wide ranging as Netscape.
Ksub - I don't know that much about computers.
Pat the Bookworm - I have one more person to checkin tonight . Then the motel will be full. I have already hung the no vacancy sign.
Ksub - Hi Pat.
Stanley - One of my districts is on a multi-tracked year around schedule. So other than between Christmas & New Yrs, and for about in a wk in Aug/Sept, I've access to jobs virtually ALL the time!!
Stanley - Pat, I imagine motel manager hrs aren't particularly compatible with early AM Sub calls, huh?
Ksub - Stanley. That's good that you get to work a lot. School is over here next week.
Pat the Bookworm - The last day of school is June 4 here,
Ksub - I'm taking tomorrow off. It's my birthday.
Pat the Bookworm - Stanley you are so right! Especially when we have the 2 or 3 in the A.M. customers,
Stanley - Traditional school tends to end in San Diego about mid June. However, as I posted on the SubBoard, I'm **HOPING** to land a Summer School gig for 5 or 6 wks.
Pat the Bookworm - I am taking tomorrow off also to buy something for the motel.
Stanley - Ksub, You're **TRULY** on a roll: Graduation AND B-day!! Once again, my kudos!!
Ksub - Thanks Stanley!
Stanley - Well, ladies, I've some work to do for the next 4 days of my assignment...
Ksub - Talk to you later. bye everyone.
Stanley - It HAS been enjoyable!
