Janet/AR/host - Welcome to the Sub. Teacher's Meeting!
Addie /MO - hi janet! thought i would just drop in a minute
Janet/AR/host - Hi Addie. Welcome
Janet/AR/host - How are ya, Addie? Long time no see.
Addie /MO - yeah, how is it going with you?
Janet/AR/host - How has your school year been going?
Janet/AR/host - Job Hunting Again!
Addie /MO - my school year has been pretty good. i am glad to see it winding up though. we get out friday
Janet/AR/host - This is our last week, had an end of the year party at my house. Kiddos had a great time.
Addie /MO - i read that on the chatboard. have you gotten any leads?
Janet/AR/host - Hey Stanley, WELCOME!
Stanley - Janet, so the kids come to YOUR home for the end of the year? How DIFFERENT from Public School!!
Janet/AR/host - Addie, no leads yet. But schools will be starting to hire in June.
Stanley - Yes, Janet, any job leads?
Addie /MO - i sure wish you well with your search
Janet/AR/host - Hi read2day, Welcome to the Sub Meeting.
read2day - Hi! I'm not a sub, but may I join you? I'm near retirement and I'm thinking of doing some subbing.
Janet/AR/host - Stanley, no leads yet![]()
Janet/AR/host - Yes they did and we cooked out and they had water gun fights and swam.
Stanley - read, are you a sub? If so, where, & what grade levels?
Janet/AR/host - read2day, sure join right in!
Janet/AR/host - Addie, going to the Ohio gathering?
Janet/AR/host - Addie, thanks, I am a woman on a mission again for a teaching job.
Addie /MO - janet, that sounds fun. i am going to try to go the ohio gathering. i have to work on some details, but i am planning to
Janet/AR/host - Stanley, how are you doing?
Janet/AR/host - Welcome Ellyn to the Sub. Meeting.
Addie /MO - chet and alan cannot go though, because of other plans...sigh
Stanley - read, you'll certainly have more experience than most of us do when we start! {G}
read2day - I'm a Title 1 teacher and sometimes I have to sub when our school can't find one. I've really enjoyed it.
Janet/AR/host - Addie, not going to the gathering in Ohio.
Addie /MO - bummer, janet
Janet/AR/host - Hi Muffy Welcome to the Sub. Meeting.
Janet/AR/host - Well hubby is taking me to Chicago at the end of June. I love the Cubs so he is taking me to Wrigley Field.
Stanley - read, yes it CAN be enjoyable! Were I to be offered a contract I know I'd have mixed emotions NOT to be subbing!
read2day - Janet, you have been trying to find a job for awhile now, haven't you? I'm sure you would like your own classroom though.
Janet/AR/host - read2day, you will have no problems being a sub at all.
Addie /MO - how fun! i wanted to go to chicago over spring break, but not to see the cubs, to see oprah winfrey. but i couldnt get tix to her show![]()
Ellyn - Hi. Does anyone have some quick fixes for discipline problems?
Stanley - Ellyn, do you sub? I KNOW muffy does! {G} Good to "see" you both here!
muffy - I am actively looking for a full-time position. So far it looks like another year of subbing.
Janet/AR/host - read, I do have my own classroom in a private school but school is downsizing and I was the newest employee to the school and teaching. Yes I have been looking a long time.
muffy - Hi Stanely!
Addie /MO - ellyn, what kind of problems are you talking about specifically
Ellyn - I jjust started about a month ago and have been placed mostly in middle schools...
read2day - I think subs should be paid more! It's a crime what our district pays. Many retirees sub a little just to stay active and they know how valuable good subs are.
read2day - Janet, I'm sorry !
Stanley - Ellyn, can you be more specific as to age? Also, is it typically just 1 or 2, or the "whole" class?
Addie /MO - moving a student away from the group can help sometimes, but i am not well versed in middle school
Janet/AR/host - Well I think subbing sometimes underminds us getting jobs due to the shortage. When the school gets a good sub it is hard for them to give them up.
Ellyn - Problems- just getting the kids to stay relatively quiet! And pay attention
Janet/AR/host - Thanks read2day. I am hopeful that something will come my way.
muffy - Janet-that can be so discouraging..kind of a catch 22
Ellyn - Age: whole classes of 5,6,7,8th grade
Stanley - Ellyn, working mostly MS [particularly when you first start] is TOUGH, IMO.
read2day - Our district hires ONLY subs. If you haven't subbed for at least a year there, they won't consider you.
Janet/AR/host - muffy, you are soooooooooo right!
Magoo - OOPS, sorry, Stanley....brb
muffy - I would blame it being the end of year syndrome mostly
Janet/AR/host - ((((((Magoo))))))))) How are ya?
Stanley - HI, Magoo! Didn't flip your top today, did ya'? {G}
Janet/AR/host - read, what state are you from?
Ellyn - I need a good way to get their attention other
read2day - ellyn, that is a very difficult age !
Ellyn - Other than yelling..
Magoo - okay, dibs on navy...........hi, room!!!![]()
Janet/AR/host - Ellyn, I work with elem. mostly.
muffy - Hi Magoo...seems like so much has happened since we last "chatted"
Janet/AR/host - Ellyn, a very hormonal group for sure!
Magoo - Hey, Stanley, I am so calm it is positively disgusting!!! Have a new attitude...boogie, boogie....
Stanley - Ellyn, I'll send my E-mail addy to you privately. E-mail me later & I'll send you a description of what I do with tickets.
Ellyn - I hate saying "EXCUSE ME!" so many times to get them to quiet down.
Magoo - Janet, who you callin' 'hormonal'??????? I have been a good girl today, I have.
muffy - I love middle school...I use the "5,4,3...til I get to 0 method..usually works. Have to let them know ahead of time though.
Magoo - Ellyn, sorry to be late, but what grade are you hollering in??
read2day - ellyn, I'm in K-3. I haven't taught 5th grade for years. Yelling doesn't keep their attention for long at any age though.
Janet/AR/host - Junior high is the age group that everyone says is the hardest!
Addie /MO - ellyn, you will need to take charge right at the beginning of the class period. ask them for their attention. when some kids dont pay attention to you, walk over next to them and tell them quietly that you will know that they are paying attention when they are not talking and they are looking at you. then walk back to the front of the room. explain what the day will look like with you as the teacher and what you expect. then go about the assigned tasks.
Ellyn - We are talking about 5,6,7,8
Magoo - Whoa, Ellyn.......middle school??? ***bowing as low as arthritis permits*** You have my deepest respect, you really do!
Stanley - Ellyn, I think I've downloaded some things I might be able to send you electronically -- if I can find them myself... {G} Personally I also just tend to say "Excuse me" or wait them out.
read2day - addie is right, walking close to the ones who are misbehaving and just standing by them often stops them. You can talk quietly to just that person.
Janet/AR/host - Letting any age group know what you expect from the start is a good start to subbing.
Addie /MO - earlier in the year, when i went into a fifth grade to talk to them, i would have to explain to them what i meant by "giving their attention". i could tell which classes that the teacher expects this in and in which classes the teacher would talk and let a kid sit and read a book.
Ellyn - I've been setting my expectations, but sometimes you just have problem students.
Magoo - ***bowing as low as arthritis will allow*** brave Ellyn, brave Ellyn.......
Addie /MO - i think that in some ways walking over to the student is even more effective with older ones than younger ones. the little ones havent really learned that proximatey can feel uncomfortable, but the older ones do. and it takes them by surprise when you do it.
Janet/AR/host - Ellyn, you are right about that. Some students are going to undermind you no matter what.
Stanley - Ellyn, not to make excuses, but this time of yr is also probably about the worst, too.
Magoo - I do the 'gimme 5' thing with every grade from K-6, and the kids know I mean it. If I get to 'zero', they have lost recess. Have had to do that only once, maybe twice a year.
Addie /MO - true, there are just students that are problems sometimes.
Magoo - Ellyn, is the bldg discip. policy one where you can boot a kid out if need be??
muffy - Sometimes I'll let them earn a chat time at the end of class...can earn with tallys...earn 5. They can earn a tally when they do what 'correct"
Ellyn - I seem to be okay with elem kids that I have all day. The problems are with middle school where a new class comes in every 45 min
Magoo - ***whispering, so as not to embarrass Janet, Esteemed Hostess*** Janet, you are a little pale this evening, are you feeling okay???
Addie /MO - ellyn, does the building have a school-wide discipline system?
Stanley - Magoo mentions a DEFINITE possibility, Ellyn. A lot of us, particularly when new, tend to be overly hesitant to write referrals.
read2day - I like the 5 minute of chat time idea. There's a lot to be said for reward systems.
muffy - I'm sorry about my typing...I have to get in my "chat" mode
Magoo - I've subbed 7 yrs., and haven't had the nerve to do over 6th yet.........
Janet/AR/host - Ellyn, that is the difficult part. Hard to have controll when new classes come in often like that.
Ellyn - I am a sub for a large district -it's hard to keep track of bldg policies
Janet/AR/host - LOL @ Magoo!I am just feeling a little down right now.
muffy - Magoo: Actually I think 6th is the 'peak" of worst...they get a little better in 7th and 8th IMO
Janet/AR/host - muffy, you are doing great!
Stanley - Ellyn, also many [if not most] MS Ts have at LEAST one "difficult" class per/day. Often the class right after lunch is a doozie!
Magoo - My fav bldg has a '3 strikes, you're out' system, along with the Time To Teach. If a kid gets 3 refocuses in a week, boom, detention for one recess. I am in a 2-3 till the end of school, and I put up a poster of ***sigh*** Mark MacGwire ( love him, can't spell his name), and told the kids, here's your reminder, 3 strikes, you are out. One boy got 2 refocuses today!
Addie /MO - or 7th hour!
Janet/AR/host - Stanley, that is soooooooo true!
Addie /MO - (if 7th is last, that is)
Stanley - muffy, I'd say G-6 in the 2nd half of the yr thru G-7. I too have had relatively good luch with G-8.
Addie /MO - what is a refocus?
Ellyn - Also, what do I do (Elem& MS) when there are little or few lesson plans. The office isn't usually very helpful.
Magoo - LESSON PLANS???!!!??? We are supposed to have LESSON PLANS???!!!?????
Janet/AR/host - Ellyn, Try to gather different grade level materials. I got a lot from the internet to take with you.
Ellyn - Ha..
read2day - That's the most challenging part of subbing, Ellyn...on the spot planning! Can you take along some puzzle sheets, etc. If you have a fun activity, they are more likely to stay on task.
muffy - I must be playing with fire because I don't bring in lesson plans LOL
Magoo - Addie, a 'refocus' is, the kid takes a printed form to another classroom, usually one grade higher or lower, and they fill out the form, and return to class. There is a bunch of protocol that goes with it, but it basically dumps the respons. right back on the kid.
Addie /MO - if i were a sub, i think i would have some alternate things planned, a book to read aloud, some word searches, etc to pull out of my hat (or teaching bag)...but you really shouldnt have to do this...teachers should have lesson plans. but i guess it is part of survival as a sub
Stanley - Magoo, LIKE your poster idea!Ellyn, I usually pack a couple of versatile read alouds a nature video that I know inside & out. I've also a Math activity that I can send you electronically.
muffy - I trust I'll just find something in the textbooks or in the room then punt. However, never had to do that!
Addie /MO - that sounds similar to the discipline plan that we are implementing next year.
Janet/AR/host - Magoo, that sounds great. Can you email me on that?
Magoo - Ellyn, try Mad Libs, but have a couple of rules first---I always tell the kids, no cussing, no body parts, nothing violent, etc. I also take math flash cards for playing Around the World, plus a book to read, or start reading, to them.
Ellyn - I was in a Kdg classroom the other day with no schedule and few activities to do.
Stanley - I've now subbed > 900 days. I've been left without plans < 1% of the time, if you can believe that!
Ellyn - I did a lot of reading to them!
Magoo - I will be happy to email anybody info on the Time To Teach discip. program. It is wonderful, I love it!!!!!
Magoo - I'm hungry, did anybody bring pizza?????
Janet/AR/host - Magoo, I would like that.
muffy - That is pretty impressive, Stanley. I'm feeling pretty confident after only subbing 20 LOL!
Addie /MO - ellyn, i think that if there is another teacher at the grade level, i would check with them on the schedule.
Addie /MO - me! me! me! *hand waving*
Addie /MO - here is my email address, are you ready, magoo?
read2day - I wish someone would make popcorn!
Addie /MO - againes@netins.net
Ellyn - Here's my address,too Magoo
Janet/AR/host - read, just had popcorn before the meeting.
Stanley - Ellyn, being in a Kinder without plans is potentially scary because they're SO hard to teach new procedures. The one time it happened to me I had parents in the room who helped me to scrounge materials.
Magoo - Well, my complaint of the month is, I am in a 'long-term' situation, the last 5 wks. of school, and THE TEACHER KNEW ABOUT THIS MONTHS AGO, and left NO lesson plans!!!!! Am I ticked, or what??!! Haven't made it home before 6 yet, and finally got up the nerve to go tattle to the Pr. about it all.
muffy - Magoo: Was the P supportive?
Addie /MO - i was a kinder teacher and i cannot imagine leaving the room without plans and a schedule!! i would be afraid of what the kids might do if they were not kept busy! i even left extra stuff..."if you get everything done..."
read2day - Magoo, that's terrible. The teacher could have at least left some long-range plans.
Janet/AR/host - Magoo, that should not have happened. Esp. since the teacher knew ahead of tiem.
Addie /MO - it shouldnt have. our teachers who need long term subs are supposed to write plans for the entire time before they leave
Stanley - Magoo, here Ts are only required to leave plans up until when you start receiving long term pay.
Magoo - The P is retiring this year, and I love him to death, but he has left the bldg, if you know what I mean.
read2day - Our subs don't get long term pay until 90 days are up!.
Ellyn - Thanks for your help,all- (signing out)
muffy - Got it...
Janet/AR/host - bye Ellyn, please attend next month's meeting.
Magoo - I finally decided, I am doing what I want to, and I am not grading a blessed thing except spelling. Humpf. Last week, we did tornados, this week it's polar bears, next week it's gorillas.
muffy - I put the word out that I'd be game for a long-term. However, a lot of you say its not worth it.
Stanley - read, we get it either on day 6 or day 11, depending upon the district. However, it is ONLY a 10-15% increase -- unlike some places.
read2day - Then the school board usually moves the sub so they don't have to pay them at a higher rate. Most teachers only leave plans for a week or two at most. After that, the sub is on their own.
Magoo - Subs here get sub pay ($80/day) till the 21st day in the same room, then they get 'teacher pay', which varies, depending on a buncha stuff.
muffy - I've also thought about becoming a building sub. However, I really want to do my own thing, not another T's plans.
read2day - muffy, is a building sub a good way to get a job if there is an opening in the building?
Janet/AR/host - Arkansas subs sure don't get that kind of pay. LOL
Magoo - I will never do a long-term (over 2 wks) again unless 1. there are written down plans, not notes, plans, or 2. I get it in writing from the super that I will be paid for the extra time needed to do plans. I am putting in 3-5 hrs. daily that I am not being paid for, and I am getting cranky..........so cranky.........very cranky..........
Addie /MO - here subs get 60 dollars per day
muffy - I really don't know...I'm fairly new to the game myself
Stanley - muff, we've had strands on the board re long terms. The bottom line, IMO: Look @ the job's intangibles & what YOU want. Then make up your mind.
Janet/AR/host - Magoo, I don't blame you for being cranky!
Magoo - Hey, you want good sub pay, go to Reedsport, Oregon, on the coast, between Coos Bay and Florence.....$125/day!!!!! I thought about it, then realized the commute would be a killer.......
read2day - sub pay is $75 in my district and ours is lower than many districts around us.
Addie /MO - made popcorn, anybody want some?
Janet/AR/host - Subs get 44 $ a day here in Arkansas.
read2day - addie, I can smell it...mmmmm.
Magoo - Stanley, you are so darn wise, how'd you get that way so young??????![]()
Addie /MO - hey! the OR subs get more than some of our beg teachers
Janet/AR/host - Addie, had popcorn earlier. Thanks
Magoo - no thank you on the popcorn.........still craving pizza........drool, slobber.......
Addie /MO - it is extreme butter
read2day - oh yes!!!!!!!!!!111
Janet/AR/host - Hey there neil, Welcome to the sub meeting.
Stanley - muffy, IF you REALLY like doing your own stuff, then that's a big Pro for long terms, IMO. Lots of us DON'T like the planning because of the time req.
Magoo - That's 'Shakespeare' for where in the world do you sub??
Magoo - I love to plan, I just don't like doing it for free........
muffy - What I want is my own class.(I have to, choice is not there anymore, hubby's job situation has changed!)
Magoo - "Ventura highway......dee-dah-doobie--doobie-do..."
Janet/AR/host - Addie, that is my Fav. popcorn! I buy only extreme butter.
Stanley - Thanks for the compliment, Magoo! I've been trained by a certain parrohial {sp?} sub in Morro Bay, ya' know! {G}
Magoo - You know, I always thought 'doobie' was just sort of like 'thingamabob', then a sweet young thing told me it was 70's talk for marijuana!!!
Janet/AR/host - Muffy, I know that feeling. I have to work Hubby doesn't make a lot of money.
muffy - I get so frustrated because I feel that I'm playing a game where i don't know all the rules. I feel out of control and I HATE that!
Stanley - Greetings, neil! I've not seen you posting recently, & I was wondering how you were doing!
Addie /MO - i would think that taking a LT sub would allow you to showcase more of your talent and get your own class if that is your goal
muffy - Addie: I agree! That's the tack I'm leaning toward!
read2day - muffy, I always tell the kids that I don't care how their teacher does it. We're doing it my way. I agree that long term would give you more freedom to run the classroom your way.
Stanley - Magoo, I was just listening to a vocal by Michael McDonald, one of the early "Doobie Bros." And I had NO idea... ¡Muchas gracias!![]()
Janet/AR/host - How long does everyone have till the end of school? Friday is my last day.
Magoo - Have all of you in here joined NSTA yet??????? I hope!
Addie /MO - friday
read2day - We're not out till June 7th.
muffy - This change is a little bittersweet. My youngest will start K next year. If I get a job I'll have to figure something out a few days a week regarding childcare!
neil - 2-3 weeks in my districts
Magoo - We are out June 8...........
Janet/AR/host - Who is TPOV?
read2day - muffy, doesn't your district have all day every day K?
muffy - We're not out till June 14..we had a lot of snow days!
Magoo - read, I tell kids the same thing----"Well, Mr. X isn't here today" "But we ALWAYS/NEVER do it like this!" "Well, then, won't you be glad to see her/him back tomorrow?"
neil - jeez, I haven't seen snow in 6 years
Magoo - neil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't heard that 'slowly I turned' in YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!:) :)
read2day - good line, magoo.
Stanley - muffy, Addie speaks wisely! Janet, with multi-tracked yr around schools, I'll have about a wk @ the tail end of Aug -- period. However, I'm suspecting I may have to go in for more eye repair in Aug.
Janet/AR/host - Welcome Jen to the Sub Meeting.
neil - 3 Stooges, yay!
muffy - Magoo: I haven't joined the union. Why should I? (Sorry I don't mean to sound snotty)
Addie /MO - i saw 6 years worth of snow this winter
read2day - inch by inch
Magoo - Does someone else, perhaps someone rational, want to explain TPOV to our dear hostess.........
neil - step by step
Jen - what is NSTA? (said she, bravely admitting her ignorance)
Janet/AR/host - Stanley, what is wrong with your eye?
read2day - what's next, I forget!
neil - is TPOV real?
neil - don't remember Read, wish I knew the whole routine
Magoo - muffy, you aren't sounding snotty at all.......it costs $10/year and they are really trying to get better things for subs, nationwide.....like decent pay, insurance, retirement, etc.
Jen - Have you seen the poem by Allan Ahlberg about the sibstitute (supply_ teacher?
read2day - Well, everyone, I've enjoyed your company. Good nite!
Magoo - NSTA= National Substitute Teachers Alliance..........just formed last summer........they have a web
Magoo - bye, read!!
neil - nite read
Addie /MO - is nsta nat'l sub teacher assn?
Magoo - neil I don't know if TPOV is for real or not, but she sure can get fires going......at least on OUR board........
Stanley - Janet, I had surgery for a detached retina on 1/22/01. Miseed 9 workdays then & work with a patch over my left eye now. I don't think they'll be able to correct the vision below 20/70 or 20/60, at best. There's a wrinkle, literally, that may be prevent
Addie /MO - almost got it
Janet/AR/host - Sorry, I am not familiar with TPOV.
Jen - May I juts ask - can anyone actually see what I am saying?
Magoo - I forgot to say hi to Jen.......HI, JEN!!![]()
Stanley - Jen, could you post that poem or its URL on the board?
Janet/AR/host - jen I can see what is posted.
Addie /MO - yes, jen...i can i just didnt know the answer for sure
Magoo - Jen, the entire world can see what you are typing, so no cussing.........
Addie /MO - lol magoo
Jen - Oh good! First time I have done this and I wasn't sure I was doing it properly
muffy - TPOV is a full-time teacher who , though very wise as a teacher, lacks tack when she addresses contemporaries. I really thought she was a "plant" to keep this board lively!
Janet/AR/host - Magoo, tell me what TPOV means. Since you want to let us all know.
Magoo - Stanley, I hope you are wearing color-coded patches and not just 'basic black'.........
Jen - Sorry - I actually have the poem, I just thought other substitute teachers might enjoy it![]()
Jen - where is the board Stanley?
neil - Twisted Point OF View?
Jen - I read the CA board, do you mean the general one? that comes in the mail box?
Janet/AR/host - jen would love to see the poem.
Stanley - Janet, TPOV is an acronym for a poster who goes by Teacher's Point of View. He/she is contracted but going for an Ed.D. She seems to have a knack for involving herself in most EVERYTHING controversial [or not!] on the SubBoard.
Janet/AR/host - thanks neil!
Jen - thank you for the greeting Magoo![]()
Jen - or is there a sub teachers' board?
Addie /MO - oh man, i shudda guessed! that is what i was going to say
muffy - Hi Jen!
Janet/AR/host - Thanks Stanley for the info.
Addie /MO - there goes my million dollars!
Magoo - Janet, I don't really want to bring her up, so to speak, I just didn't know if it was okay to discuss the problems she seems to be able to cause. Muffy was kind when she said TPOV 'lacks tact'........having been brutally attacked by her twice, myself, I am not the person to describe her. I just would like some other opinions on how to handle what she does on our board....and she isn't a sub.
Stanley - Jen, I'm referring to the the Sub Board. neil, your redefinition of TPOV is an, uh, "interesting" one! {G}
Addie /MO - i think that it is best to ignore troublemakers on the c.boards
Janet/AR/host - Magoo, have you dicussed this with Kat or Bob?
neil - it's the New Yorker in me Stanley
Jen - sorry - hot the worng key or somehting and was sumamrily booted
Addie /MO - unless they are vulgar or something...then i report them to bob
Jen - how do I get to the sub board? Please excuse my ignorance
muffy - I don't think we'd like to get to point of excluding people do we? Kind of like censorship.
Magoo - personally, neil, I think you have the definition correct...........
Janet/AR/host - Jen on the main board you will see chatboards it will then bring you to the chatboard's page and then click on Substitute Teachers.
Magoo - Janet, I emailed Kathleen awhile back, but never heard back from her on this subject.
neil - the anonymity of the net brings out the jerk in marginal jerks IMHO
Magoo - Jen, we don't mean to ignore you, honest, we just aren't able to type and read and think at the same time!![]()
Stanley - Magoo, one thing I **NEED** to repost is the suggestion that posters put a link to their E-mail addys. Then the "crap"/provocative posts can be sent PRIVATELY.
muffy - I've gotten to the point of "Bring it on...sistah" when I know I'm going to get blasted
Addie /MO - well, sometimes if a person acts inappropriately on the c.boards, then something needs to be done. if they just dont agree then, oh well
Magoo - muffy, I don't think TPOV should be banned or anything, it's just that she is always pretty cruel and she isn't a sub and she doesn't seem to post anywhere else, she just comes in and bashes subs.
Janet/AR/host - Well it is 10:00 eastern time. I want to thank EVERYONE for attending the meeting and hope to see you next month.
Addie /MO - thanks for being the hostess with the mostest
Stanley - Jen, sorry.... Go to the site that lists ALL the boards & you should see it there with a link.
muffy - Yea, I noticed that ,too! Maybe she had a bad experience when she was a kid with a sub. Maybe she had to stand with her nose on the wall! (I had to do that once!)
Stanley - Janet, Hope [& PRAY!] the job search soon bears fruit!![]()
Magoo - only 7ish here........thanks, Janet, you are so patient with us all!!
Janet/AR/host - Have a great month of subbing or a great summer and hope to see you all next onth!
muffy - How long do we get to chat?
neil - bye Janet
Magoo - Stanley, I don't post my email address because I don't want TPOV to have it........she would track me down and slay me with her red pen!!!!!!!!!1
Magoo - Well, as always, this has been fun, but I need fuel (haven't had dinner yet), so I will bid you all a fond farewell, and go stuff my face. neil------you have me going to watch 3 stooges again, to get that routine, and I can't stand those guys!!![]()
Stanley - Magoo, it doesn't actually REVEAL your addy. Check any of my or pambre's posts on the board.
Magoo - Sounds mechanical, Stanley.........I will check it out again.........
Magoo - Hey, you didn't ans. my ? about the patches...........do you have a red one? green? plaid??
Stanley - muffy, we chat as long as enough of us hang around. I've been here past 11 ET lots of times, but probably not tonight: I've some paperwork to do for renewing my credential!
muffy - Stanely: Speaking of conversing through e-mail...did you get mine?
Stanley - muffy, I don't have my E-mail program booted. Give me a few...
muffy - Jen: Are you still there?
Stanley - Magoo, I've a VERY plain beige plastic lens cover that my dad picked up for me @ an Optical Shop.
Stanley - muffy, in what part of the world do you live?
muffy - I live in Michigan, suburban Detroit area. You're in CA, right?
Stanley - Yes, San Diego. Just read your E-mail. No, "siege mentality" was directed at many of us in general.
muffy - I really didn't want to attack, just kind of defending us!
Stanley - Subs are, to some extent, "outcasts." Therefore, we have to be very circumspect when dealing with what WE perceive to be criticism.
muffy - You say your working on your credential: That's what I'm doing now. I only have 3 more credits to go to get recertified.
muffy - Sorry about my spelling, grammar...it's late and I'm tired...
Stanley - As best I can recollect what I posted had been building up in me for several weeks -- I'd just not known HOW to say it. So, **DON'T** take it as being directed @ you!

muffy - I highly doubt I could land a job without being certified. I don't know about CA, but in my area it is very competative. I'm working my franny off to finish by August. I'm selling myself as certified. We use an on-line consortium that 16 school disric
Stanley - CA would tough -- unless in L.A., or bilingual, SPED, or single subj math or science.
muffy - Stanley( spelled it right this time): I'll talk to ya later

Stanley - Gotta tell me how to do that wink! Magoo did once, but I forgot...![]()
