Bunny ON3/4 - Hi, Mary and Gabby
gabby - Hey Bunny
Bunny ON3/4 - I guess we're a little early
Mary/WA - I'm going to be in and out for a bit -- putting lasagne together.
gabby - So how is your year going?
Bunny ON3/4 - My year has been crazy. New grades, a couple ADD kids...
Bunny ON3/4 - How about yours?
gabby - I can relate.
gabby - First year teacher 3/4 combo with a full inclusion student.
gabby - But i am half way there.
Bunny ON3/4 - what is your full-inclusion student like?
gabby - She has a cognitive delay. and Cerebral palsy
Bunny ON3/4 - How does she relate to the other kids?
gabby - She is at a kindergarten level mentally and socially at about a preschooler
gabby - She actually is very egocentric and doesn't relate well to them.
Bunny ON3/4 - Do the other children accept her?
gabby - Yes, But not many students choose to play ur buddy up with her
gabby - th grade is so tough
Bunny ON3/4 - The odd numbered years are always tough
gabby - Hmmm.
gabby - Other than that, I love my class.
Bunny ON3/4 - I taught a 5/6 split for years and found that the 5th graders always had a rough time.
gabby - How are your add kids?
Bunny ON3/4 - Oh, I really enjoy my kids, too, but had a bit of trouble adjusting to the lower grades.
gabby - What grade are you teaching?
Bunny ON3/4 - My ADD kids are non-producers basically. Can't be bothered to do any work unless Mom is supervising.
Bunny ON3/4 - 'm teaching a grade 3/4 split
Bunny ON3/4 - How does she relate to the other kids?
gabby - Yup, i can understand. Do you find your third graders a lot more unindependant.
Bunny ON 3/4 - Yes, the 3rd graders tend to need more help. Very little desire to find out things on their own.
Bunny ON 3/4 - I find that really frustrating, so I keep encouraging them to search for answers/solutions themselves, but it is an ongoing struggle.
Bunny ON 3/4 - It has taken me half a year to decide that I really don't mind teaching those grades.
