naneb - Hi, everyone!!
naneb - What grade do you all teach?
abcgal - first
REI/2/IL - Evening Everyone!
abcgal - hi
dipsydoo - this must be the place
naneb - Hi, REi
abcgal - does someone come in and moderate this or are we on our own
sunny - hi dipsy in indiana
naneb - sometiimes Cheryl comes in
sunny - who does 4 blocks now?
dipsydoo - sunny, how do you know me?
naneb - I do
sunny - i'm your daughter
abcgal - I just use www
deb - hello, we just chat. How is everybody doing? I have been doing Big BLock training all week. It has been a blast doing novel-in-an-hour with The Jacket
REI/2/IL - abc...we are usually on our own. What would you like to discuss?
dipsydoo - oh, new name?
sunny - naneb - what grade do you teach?
naneb - 6th grade
naneb - special ed
deb - Deb -- second grade, now a teacher consultant
REI/2/IL - Sunny..I have been using the model for 5 years.
abcgal - several teachers at my school want to implement 4 blocks fully next year but we are getting resistance for the reading specialist
abcgal - from
deb - nan, the kids have been LOVING the novel in an hour
sunny - why doesn't the reading specialist want to do it?
dipsydoo - What is the reading specialists argument?
abcgal - that kids do better in ability groups
deb - abc, that's disappointing
dipsydoo - Maybe she's afraid all the kids will learn to read and she won't have a job!
REI/2/IL - deb...I introduced novel-in-an-hour to our 5th grade teachers. They have tried it and enjoyed the experience.
deb - there is NO research that supports that arguement.
abcgal - she doesn't like the guided reading block but embraces the other parts
deb - REI -- it was the best. What novel did you use?
naneb - I am doing reader's workshop about the underground railroad, we are all reading Sweet clara and The Freedom Quilt and next week everyone will read their own book about the underground railroad
sunny - what is novel in an hour?
deb - abc, that is not untypical, sad, but not untypical!
naneb - I love Guided Reading, it is the best. I have never seen such progress in my LD kids
deb - An I can Read Book 0-06-444042-7 Th e Drinking Gourd is a Grade 2-4 Level 3 book that is good too
abcgal - I've been printing up all of the articles and may put it as part of my evaluation for next year
deb - Novel in a n hour -- cut the book into even chunks
deb - literally slice the book up
naneb - I have that one and about 15 other books, I went to the public library and they got me books from all of the libraries
sunny - can you tell me what you do exactly for the guided reading part?
deb - then give the kids (groups of 3-5 kids) a chunk to read, an index card to record their thinking on and to write a summary of their chapter
naneb - I am teaching the strategies from Strategies That Work
deb - THen the kids ask each other their questions and discuss the book.
sunny - are they all reading the same book tehn?
deb - After discussing the book, they read their summaries in order
deb - It is a cool experience.
deb - Everyone is reading ONE copy of ONE book. You CUT it up literally slice it into chunks
veronica - what books would work best for 5th graders?
melanie - hi
deb - Hold out the last few pages so after they read the summaries they still don't know what happened
deb - The Jacket by Andrew Clements worked great
melanie - anyone else a highschool teacher
naneb - deb, do you use a grade level book or a little easier to do novel in an hour?
dipsydoo - Oh my, I bet the library dragon has a fit when you cut the books up.
deb - I have the group holding page 50 start asking a question
deb - Since I bought the book for the purpose of cutting it up, I don't sweat it
REI/2/IL - deb...I used Because of Winn Dixie.
melanie - anyone else teach at risk students
naneb - I loved that book, I read it to my class at the beginning of the year
deb - Whoever answers the question gets to ask the next question
deb - I haven't read that yet. I will tonight.
dipsydoo - Not a HS teacher, but worked with them.
naneb - melanie, I teach middle school LD kids
melanie - hi naneb
cin - melanie, how do you define at risk kids.
REI/2/IL - Hi Cin!
melanie - what are your students like? very challanging? demanding? low skilled?
aggie/1/ca - Hi y'all!
naneb - yes, yes, yes and yes!!!
REI/2/IL - Hi Aggie!!!!
aggie/1/ca - melanie-- I work w/at risk kids.
veronica - hi aggie
naneb - ((((((((((((((((((aggie))))))))))))))))
cin - Hiya REI...thought I would drop by and see what the 'Blockheads' were chattin' about.
deb - hi aggie!
veronica - mine sure are melanie
REI/2/IL - LOL nan. Was just thinking the same about my crew.
cin - Hiya aggie.
melanie - well the students that i have are low skilled acedemically and have numerous out of school probsa
aggie/1/ca - Hey there, Jaylynn.
aggie/1/ca - sounds like my school,melanie.
cin - Melanie...if that is the way you define at risk students, then you have definitely defined my class.
melanie - yup a hard group to work with when your alone in the classroom
aggie/1/ca - what grade, melanie? and are you the melanie from CA?
Jaylynn - hi 4blockers
melanie - i am not sure what the real defn is but that works well for me lol
aggie/1/ca - Where ya from, Jaylynn?
melanie - canada?
cin - I teach 3rd grade ELL. I have reading ranges from preprimer to 5th grade.
aggie/1/ca - No, melanie--- I meant California-- that's where I'm from.
cin - Hello Jaylynn...
Jaylynn - McAllen, TX
melanie - oh no im from canada
cin - Hello Cece....
naneb - my dad lives in mcallen
melanie - i am just having a hard time and am debating if i should stick with the job in the fall
Cece/1/GA - Hi, cin
REI/2/IL - Hi Cece
cin - How that 5th grade reading level got in there, I have no idea. LOL
sunny - tell me about guided reading
aggie/1/ca - *sigh* for the first time in 3 years, I have 3!! (count'em! 3!!!!!) non-readers. Usually by now they can all read something....it's really depressing me.
Cece/1/GA - Hi, REI
veronica - I am debating that also Melanie
cin - melanie...what grade do you teach?
aggie/1/ca - Hiya Cece!
melanie - i had a 17 year old takin gr 9 courses that couldnt read that was awful as i could not begin to teach that at a highschool level
Cece/1/GA - Must be everywhere, aggie, I have 3 on level 2 (DRA). I'm working myself to death trying to help them!
melanie - i teach grade 9/10
dipsydoo - Aggie...are you a 1st grade teacher?
melanie - ya here too cece
aggie/1/ca - sunny--- it's the most diff. block to implement but ultimately very rewarding. Keep plugging away at it!.
Cece/1/GA - sunny, what do you want to know about guided reading?
aggie/1/ca - Yeah, I know what you mean, Cece......
cin - aggie...that is one reason why I never really wanted to teach first.
aggie/1/ca - Yes, dipsydoo. Are you?
aggie/1/ca - Hi there, hyacinth.
melanie - when they are teenagers though its hard to force them to even attend regulary never mind get work out of them
sunny - tell me what you do during that time
dipsydoo - You'll get non-readers or low ones at any grade level.
REI/2/IL - cin...that sounded like my room at the beginning of the year. But my lowest reader (spec. ed) has fallen in love with Nate the Great this past week and boy has he taken off! Can't keep the book out of his hand.
dipsydoo - If the reading material is relevant to them, you can get them to read it.
Cece/1/GA - Sunny, I do all sorts of stuff...nonfiction this week. We started with a worm story in the basal, and are doing some animal research. Last week it was a Henny Penny play
Jaylynn - when you say non-readers, you mean they can't read anything? not even their name?
melanie - true there is alot of low achievers across the board but its an exhausting feat
naneb - REI, my entire class did that with Captain Underpants. It was like he unlocked the whole mystic of reading for them
dipsydoo - I had 16 year olds who would read each others' notes.
aggie/1/ca - sunny--- today we looked at a KWL chart we started yesterday on soccer. Re-read the story in the basal and stopped on every page to add to the KWL chart new info we were learning on soccer.
cin - aggie....I feel comfortable with guided reading, but what I REALLY have to work at is Writing. We plan, we do sloppy copies, the kids LOVE to share their writing, however...revising, editing, and publishing is another matter.
dipsydoo - So I let them write notes to each other--knowing I would read them too.
sunny - i don't do that part in my room yet- i'm not even sure what it really is
melanie - well this guy i had could read at a grade 3 level but could not handle our grade 9 science texts at all
hyacinth - i have a first grader who's a non-reader...he can't read any words at all yet
aggie/1/ca - Jaylynn--- they can all read their names and, except for the one boy, know some letter sounds, etc. But they can't read the easiest reader in our assessment series.
Cece/1/GA - hyacinth, have you tried predictable charts?
max - even my non readers have learned to recognize their own names....but they can't tell you the letters they worte for their name if you point to them
melanie - hmmm i think im in the wrong room lol
cin - naneb....I typing my post. What is it that you and REI have done in guided reading?
aggie/1/ca - cin-- it might just be your class this year. This year my kids just lovvvvvvvvvvve to do all of that and other years they haven't.
dipsydoo - Max....that's great, don't get hung up on the letters, just go with words.
hyacinth - absolutely, cece. i have a feeling he's got an LD, but right now, i'm treating it as a developmental delay
cin - naneb....I typing my post. What is it that you and REI have done in guided reading?
REI/2/IL - Nan...this little guys mom came in today in tears to ask what had happened. He had actually told her he wanted to read to her last night. They ended up reading 3 of the chapters together.
sunny - i don't do that part in my room yet- i'm not even sure what it really is
naneb - cin, I teach 6th grade LD, We have been reading Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt about the underground railroad. I have focused on question strategies
kteacher - what grades are in the room?
max - what a success story, REI!!!!
Jaylynn - work with 1st graders mostly
max - i have 4-7 year olds, developmentally delayed and mostly EH
sunny - i haven't done guided reading in my room yet and i don't really know what it is
naneb - Rei, that is so great. I had a student's mom call me and cry because she was worried that her son couldn't read. I said ask him to read to you today. He can read now. She was thrilled
Cece/1/GA - sunny, you mean you're not sure what guided reading is?
Jaylynn - so does everyone use the DRA for assessment
veronica - I teach 5th
sunny - yes
cin 2 - Hello kteacher.
Cece/1/GA - Sunny, GR is the block where we teach kids to comprehend all types of materials.
kteacher - I love kinder. I like seeing their faced light up when they learn something new!
sunny - what kinds of things do you do?
Cece/1/GA - Jaylynn, i use DRA, but my school doesn't (yet)
sunny - what is DRA?
cin 2 - What I love is when the kids ask each other questions about the books they are sharing. They sound like the teacher. LOL
Jaylynn - developmental reading assessment
cin 2 - Hello newbie....
REI/2/IL - Nan...Jaylynn~I have my own copy. No one else in my district uses it.
Cece/1/GA - sunny, I try to teach kids about all types of literature (poetry, fiction, and nonfiction) at this point. I want them to know the parts of a story (beginning, middle and end)
cin 2 - Is DRA like a running record?
sunny - i guess i do do it then- i just didn't call it that!
cin 2 - Hello B
Cece/1/GA - I use my state objectives and determine which ones are comprehension related and those are the ones I focus on during guided reading
Jaylynn - yes, DRA utilizes oral reading records or running records
4blocknewbie - hello all
Cece/1/GA - hello, newbie
naneb - I do running records during SSR and we have the STAR test, but I don't think it is very accurate
sunny - are guided reading groups ability grouped?
max - how do the running records translate intodevelopmental reading assessment????
cin 2 - naneb....that is exactly what I do.
kteacher - hello 4blocknewbie what grade do you teach?
Jaylynn - what is the STAR test? i'm not familiar with that
B - Hello, I teach fifth (first year) and have been modifying four blocks.
naneb - sunny, no guided reading is whole group but it is multilevel
4blocknewbie - i just started incorporating the 4 block into my classroom we are going to do it district wide next year. so i wanted to get a feel for it this year
Cece/1/GA - sunny, in 4 blocks we try to avoid ability groups. The kids are given support as they read various materials, and we try to keep material on their level.
sunny - we do the STAR reading test
kteacher - Jaylynn where are you from if you dont know about the star test?
naneb - B, I teach 6th special ed and do the same thing
REI/2/IL - We went on a field trip today. Highlight of the entire trip was pilfering (sp?) the travel brochures to add to our self selected baskets.
Jaylynn - I got confused by Guieded Reading because in years past we did guided rdg. the Fountas/Pinnell way
Cece/1/GA - There are many ways to group the kids during GR...partners, playschool groups, book club groups, 3 ring circus. See Guided Reading the 4 Blocks Way or the Teacher's Guide to 4 Blocks for other suggestions
it's aggie/1/ca - LOL! Did you see that banned person? It was me!!!!
Jaylynn - Texas
cin 2 - REI....I did that this summer.
naneb - LOL@ aggie!!
Cece/1/GA - aggie, what did you do to get banned??
it's aggie/1/ca - LOL REI!
cin 2 - aggie...someone picking on you again? LOL
it's aggie/1/ca - naneb-- a holdover, I guess, from this weekend!?!
dipsydoo - Walk into most motel lobbies and there's a display of brochures for sites to visit. Colorful and interesting.
it's aggie/1/ca - Cece-- the site here is having problems w/innocent people getting banned. On Sunday we allllllll were banned in the chatroom! Even Bob Reap!
naneb - should be weilding, my "e" disappeared
Jaylynn - ...so what is the STAR test?
Cece/1/GA - Wow! Even list mom?? How funny!
REI/2/IL - Cin..I am always grabbing brochures. Today, it was my class that was doing the selecting.
cin 2 - REI...where did you go?
sunny - is self selected reading random or do you put together a box of books that go with a theme you are studying?
naneb - I got to order more books today! The principal found an unused sped budget and gave it to me for books. It was fun!! I ordered all historical fiction sets of 5 books for book club groups
Cece/1/GA - Aggie, I wanted to tell you that I tried a twist this week to KWL from Debbie Miller's new primary comprehension book (on-line at stenhouse.com)
it's aggie/1/ca - One of the most popular items I have in my SSR boxes is the program I got at Stars on Ice! The kids lovvvvvve to look at it and talk knowingly about Scott Hamilton and Tara Lipinski! Tooooo funny!
it's aggie/1/ca - Cool, Cece! What is it?
cin 2 - Jaylynn....the Star Test is a reading level 'determiner'. Kids answer a series of questions on the computer, and they are rated to establish their reading range. It is based solely on vocabualry meaning. Not very accurate at times.
it's aggie/1/ca - Howwww lucky, naneb!
dipsydoo - That kind of reading material appeals to all ages.
REI/2/IL - We went to an area science museum and planetarium. We ate in the "visitor" center next door to the museum. That is where my class discovered the brochures.
naneb - Mine loved the brochures I brought from cozumel and Cancun
max - geeezzzzzz aggie, my kids usually talk about "Sponge Bob"
it's aggie/1/ca - I agree on the accuracy, cin.......my non-reader scored in the average range at the beginning of the year! A good guesser!
naneb - cin, I don't like how it times out. I have some really slow readers and they miss things they know because of the time limit
it's aggie/1/ca - LOL max!
cin 2 - To show you how exciting my travels are, I have brochures from the local McDonalds.
Jaylynn - and what company/publisher do you get the Star test from?
Cece/1/GA - You take a pocket folder and tape it to the chart paper (What we know about worms). As the kids tell things they know, you post them on paper around the chart. As these are confirmed, you put them in the "pocket", which you tell them is the info you want to go in their brains. Then the incorrect info is added to the bottom and crossed out.
it's aggie/1/ca - Jaylynn-- it's from Accelerated Reader.
naneb - It is from Reading Rennaissance, you know AR!
max - the brochures are a good idea, my poor little guys don't have many "interests"
cin 2 - hello teapot....
it's aggie/1/ca - Neat-oh, Cece! I like the visual imagery there.
naneb - Cece, I think I am going to do that activity next week when my kids read individual books about the underground railroad
REI/2/IL - Are you using the newest version of the STAR test? We upgraded. WOW! Big change. We also have the STAR Early Literacy for our Kinder and 1st grade teachers.
it's aggie/1/ca - Hi teapotmama.
Cece/1/GA - max, I have a student who is an Elvis FREAK! He would love brochures from Graceland
it's aggie/1/ca - What is different about it, REI?
Cece/1/GA - naneb, the kids really loved it
naneb - We have the newest test
naneb - Cece, I think my 6th graders would like it too. We are making quilt squares this Friday
it's aggie/1/ca - Hey there, Melissa.
Jaylynn - so is AR supplementing classroom reading instruction at your schools?
max - brb...just got home and I am eating dinner as I lurk....
REI/2/IL - Cece...I have a kiddo like that in my room. She has worn poor old Elvis's face right of the front of the brochure on Graceland.
aggie again - I'm having a heck of a time staying in here!
Cece/1/GA - Aggie, you're running out of names and colors!
naneb - we all got the boot that time!!
REI/2/IL - Hmmm...room must like me tonight. Haven't been booted yet.
aggie again - I know, Cece! At least I didn't get the bann screen this time!
Jaylynn/1/TX - do any of your schools require students to make a certain number of AR pts. to avg. in with the reading grades?
cin #3 - Booted again!!! Maybe we should start singing Nancy Sinatra's song..."These Boots Are Going to Walk All Over You"
Cece/1/GA - REI has the magic touch!
aggie again - Yeah,well-- your time is coming, REI!
aggie again - Not mine, Jaylynn.
Cece/1/GA - OOOH, Jaylynn, don't get me started on that one! We used to, but don't require AR anymore
naneb - Each class sets its goals and I don't think any of the teachers take a grade but some require a certain level to accept a test
cin #3 - Jaylynn...our school doesn't, but I do use their AR scores as part of their reading grade.
cin #3 - hello eduKate
Jaylynn/1/TX - the intermediate T's at my school are AR fanatics
aggie again - Hey there, eduKate!
Cece/1/GA - cin #3 Say it ain't so
REI/2/IL - Nope...AR isn't graded in our district. Students may decide if they want to participate in AR.
cin #3 - Cece....why do you say that?
naneb - I got the leveled readers from reading a-z and my kids read them and we keep a record and record their running record percent and their errors. They are very competitive and not nearly as frustrated as when they were doing AR
eduKate - Hi, just got back from church. First thing I see here is that everyone is getting booted tonight. What a bummer.
Cece/1/GA - Jaylynn, it's because it's an easy way to get a grade, but even the AR people aren't for that. (The program developers)
Jaylynn/1/TX - I didn't think it was developed for that purpose
eduKate - uh, I just got a page not available sign. Had to back click to got back. ???
cin #3 - Cece....the reason I do is because I see it as a reflection of how they are doing on their own reading level. Seemed like it was a fair way to give them an 'up' as far as their reading grade is concerned since so many struggle with grade appropriate material.
eduKate - AR is sweeping our schools... I'm probably leaving too
aggie - Shhhhhhhhh naneb! Maybe no one will notice!
eduKate - sounds like a great topic, though
Jaylynn/1/TX - so how long has everyone been implementing 4 blocks?
aggie - why will you be leaving, eduKate?
REI/2/IL - Jaylynn~5 years.
aggie - Jaylynn.......about 4 years for me.
eduKate - cuz, I'm tired
Cece/1/GA - cin, my last post didn't make it, but I was saying that Richard Allington said the authors of some of the books took tests on their own books and didn't pass!
Jaylynn/1/TX - our school was just intoduced to it this past fall
aggie - I've heard that, Cece.
Cece/1/GA - Jaylynn, I've been a blockhead for 3 years
aggie - eduKate-- you're gonna do something other than teach?
naneb - the tests are not very good. If you look at them they ask questions about things that are not important at all to the story
eduKate - what do you mean other than teach?
aggie - I agree, naneb. Nit-picky details.
cin #3 - Cece....I was trained in AR before it before ' Reading Ren????' (dang, just forgot how to spell renisanc...whatever..LOL). What reason did they give for not taking grades?
naneb - I told my kids they do not have to do AR so, most of them don't
aggie - eduKate-- you said you were leaving your school cos you were tired? I thought you meant you were going to stop being a teacher.
cin #3 - cece....just saw your answer.
eduKate - according to the top occupants there are 3 aggies here tonight
Cece/1/GA - They said it is a reading motivational tool
aggie - LOL eduKate! That's cos I've gotten the boot so many times! They are all "me" tho.
naneb - She has multiple personalities that is for sure!!!
cin #3 - edu....aggie is omnipotent....she is everywhere. LOL
eduKate - oh, no, leaving this site... not school
eduKate - just checking in quick...
cin #3 - cece....food for thought.
eduKate - yah, cin, I heard that about aggie
naneb - cin#3, that is a very, very scary thought!!! Aggie everywhere OMG!!!
aggie - naneb--- and tonight I'm only in this room! Not on IM or ICQ or Yahoo or nuthin'! Just here!
Cece/1/GA - cin, It doesn't sound like you are really rigid about it (sounds like it helps your kids grades?) Some teachers I've seen are really RIGID
Jaylynn/1/TX - I thought AR was motivational...but telling the kids they HAVE to participate and get a certain amount of pts. kind of defeats the purpose, huh?
naneb - I am only here too.
eduKate - night all... ganna check the Michigan site and then our beloved EC site
naneb - night, Kate
aggie - G'night eduKate! Take care!
Cece/1/GA - Jaylynn, I heard just this week about a teacher who punished a whole class by making them get 15 more points because 3 kids didn't meet the goal
eduKate -
Jaylynn/1/TX - that's awful
naneb - No wonder kids end up hating to read!!!
REI/2/IL - Cece...that is terrible. I am soooo glad our district has established that AR is strictly OPTIONAL!
Jaylynn/1/TX - no wonder teachers get a bad rap
Cece/1/GA - aggie, are you coming to IRA?
cin #3 - Jaylynn....we use the points ONLY to determine their level of reading. What is mean is...10 points classifies you as an 'independent reader', more points a 'super reader', etc. My kids receive certificates and their name goes on the wall when they reach those levels.
Cece/1/GA - Hi, robbie
robbie - Hello
robbie - AR is sure a hot topic. What is motivating these teachers to require points?
Jaylynn/1/TX - a reading committee at my school made up point levels for each grade
cin #3 - Not too long ago, I had one of my lowest readers reach independent level. You should have seen his face light up when he received his certificate.
robbie - Oops I seem to have a stutter.
Jaylynn/1/TX - and the AR reports go to the principal each grading period
naneb - there is a formula based on their ZPD to figure point goals
Cece/1/GA - ZPD???
Cece/1/GA - Zone of Proximal Development?
robbie - Jaylynn, this is happening at my school, too.
Jaylynn/1/TX - then she kind of gets on the cases of the teachers that don't have all their students reaching the point level required for their grade level
naneb - Zone of Proximal Difficulty, independent reading range
aggie - Oh! We learned about ZPD at Leadership!
robbie - Once those reports start going to the principal, everybody panics!
Cece/1/GA - AUUGH! Jaylynn!!! I can't believe that!
Jaylynn/1/TX - and it's really difficult for some of the first graders
Cece/1/GA - Okay, aggie, i was there...who said ZPD?
naneb - you take their reading level and use this chart and it shows the number of points they should make in a set amount of time
aggie - I think Jim C did, cece......and I think it was last year.
Cece/1/GA - Aggie, are you coming to IRA?
max - how is AR different from the way independent reading levels were measured in the past??
Cece/1/GA - I can't believe I didn't remember Aggie! I thought I memorized his every word!
Jaylynn/1/TX - isn't that awful? but the princip. and 4th & 5th grade T's think it's the most wonderful thing
aggie - Noooooooooooo Cece.......no $$$ after my trip to NC.....*sigh*
robbie - We have been doing this since our school opened 4 1/2 years ago. Interest in reading is going down as the pressure goes up!
naneb - I think AR is good if it gets kids to read. I just don't think it should be used for anything other than a motivator
Cece/1/GA - Aw! This will be my first trip (Vanessa says she'll show me the ropes
max - oh aggie, get an additional job...you know, for all your spare time
Cece/1/GA - naneb, I hate it when the kids won't read a book because it isn't AR...
aggie - max-- I'm teaching 2 weeks of Summer School this year so I can go back to NC next year!
naneb - me too. Cece
max - well, aggie, you could tutor a couple hours a day 3 or 4 afternoons a week...they you would be loaded....
Jaylynn/1/TX - well I'm relieved to find out I'm not alone in my opinion
REI/2/IL - I loved going to IRA when it was in Indy. What a wonderful exper.
aggie - max! I already do that! LOL!
cin the fourth - My own daughter just gave me the boot....she accidently turned off the surge protector. :-$
aggie - ((((((((((Cin again!))))))))))
naneb - We did the most fun thing in word block today. I took some of the Nifty 50 words and we divided the parts. I listed all of the prefixes, then the root words and then the suffixes. The kids had to match parts and make new words out of the parts.
aggie - LMBO cin!
Jaylynn/1/TX - goodnight y'all
robbie - Jaylynn, I agree completely. We are spoiling a good idea!
max - well then , aggie, i am completely out of suggestions...
Cece/1/GA - night, Jaylynn
aggie - G'night Jaylynn! Nice meeting you!
cin the fourth - Night Jaylynn....
naneb - night, Jaylynn
aggie - San Fran is a 10-12 hour drive for me and I just can't afford to fly right now.
Cece/1/GA - Aggie, you could put one of those cans in the grocery store...help send Aggie to IRA
cin the fourth - My kids enjoy AR, but you all have given me food for thought.
max - aggie, that isn't that bad of a atrip....ask skippy, one trip with me, getting lost...and its about the same
aggie - I like that idea, Cece!
Cece/1/GA - Cin, hope you don't feel bashed...just something to think about. You seem to be a compassionate teacher
cin the fourth - Well, thanks for the information this evening everyone.
Cece/1/GA - Most probably has to do with the teacher's attitude, and you have a good one!
aggie - G'night cin!
cin the fourth - cece...I am compassionate....just ask aggie. LOL
naneb - I know we have more kids checking books out of the library than ever before becuase of AR and that is a good thing
aggie - cin??? compassionate?????? I don't think so! LOL!
max - i am so out of the loop from regular ed that i am not certain, but i think our school just installed the AR tests....they are on computer, right, and more than a thousand or so...
cin the fourth - naneb....absolutely right...AND you know they ARE being READ.
naneb - max, what do you teach?
