Paulie - Thought lots of people would be here
Sunny - Me, too.. the flag issue has gotten big.
Paulie - Well I live in one of the "affected states" but nothing will ahppen It is stayed now
Nanci/Oh/3 - I thought lots of people would be here also...summer and near a holiday, so maybe that is the reason...
Paulie - give them time I suppose not all clocks are set just right
Nanci/Oh/3 - I think the citizens will rise up against any changes in the P of A . Esp since 9-11.
Paulie - and it is dinner time for thsoe of us out west
Paulie - I hope so people that are making a thing about religion with it are wrong It is open to all nto an established nation/state religion
Sunny - Definitely. I understand the point the guy is trying to make, but I don't think it's the right time to make that point.
Nanci/Oh/3 - What grades do you both teach...
Paulie - and if the athesists choose to not believe that is their religion -- they make themselves their god
Sunny - It's 9:00 where I am.
Sunny - I'm a sub for grades K-6
Paulie - <----- in process of finding new job moved to another state
Paulie - 6:00 here
Nanci/Oh/3 - What gets me...ok, they are having a fit about the 'under God' in the P of A...but then they turn around and give money to the church run schools by the way of vouchers!
Sunny - I wish it were 6:00 again for me.
Nanci/Oh/3 - Where are you, Sunny?
Paulie - different peopel doing those Nancy
Nanci/Oh/3 - It is just past 9 here in Ohio...
Sunny - I'm in in the heat of the northeast.
Nanci/Oh/3 - Yes, true, Paulie...
Melissa - nine here too
Melissa - where are you sunny
Paulie - It will be 6:00 again . . . tomorrow!
Nanci/Oh/3 - It was 97 here today with a heat index of 104.
Sunny - I'm in New Hampshire
Melissa - I'm in NJ so I can sympathize
Nanci/Oh/3 - I think the voucher issue will be a bigger one to affect all public school teachers, more than the P of A issue will.
Sunny - I know it'll be 6:00 again tomorrow.something to look forward to.
Paulie - we had the 90 weather last week this week in 70's after a two day rain between
Melissa - yep I don't see the pledge going away
Sunny - I used to live in NJ, Melissa
Melissa - we had bad t storms last week but did not help the heat
Melissa - where abouts dimmu
Grace/IL - Hi all, it's hot in the midwest too.
Melissa - oops sunny
Sunny - I don't see how they'll do away with the pledge. There are too many people who want that. The kids I work with have asked for the pledge since 9-11
Paulie - I don't see vouchers solving all the problems either 2500 will not go far in private schools
Melissa - it will probably be cold and rainiy next week when I go on vacation
Sunny - I used to live in Monmouth County.
Melissa - nope our tuition is 7500 and that is cheap
Nanci/Oh/3 - For every 2500 they get in the private sector, is 2500 less for public schools...and WE have to test, and take whatever comes our way...
Melissa - I live in Sussex County
Paulie - many private schools are also national accredited
Melissa - I was born in toms river
Paulie - and also test
Melissa - at my sister in laws school it is about double that
Sunny - Vouchers don't solve the problem. A lot of people I know think that private schools are the answer, and public schools are so bad.
Sunny - I used to live in Howell, NJ
Nanci/Oh/3 - Yea, will let them get a taste of the private schools and then see what they think.
Melissa - I personally think that the kids get so many more resources in public school
Paulie - I have worked in parochial schools I know if they don't keep up or behavior gets bad they can kick out
Melissa - I don't think that they are getting their moneys wort
Sunny - And guess where they're kicked out..public schools!
Grace/IL - Perhaps this whole voucher thing will have to run its course.
Nanci/Oh/3 - I taught in private schools for over 30 years, starting when I was 19...now I am on my 'second time around' and loving teaching in the public school system. I am a big supporter of public education.
Melissa - yep just like all the other educational reform
Paulie - Melissa who is not getting their money's worth?
Nanci/Oh/3 - Right, Paulie, and guess who gets the behavior problems, and the kids who can't or don't work?
Melissa - It is funny that I live in an area where basically everyone goes to public school because they are so good, but i teach in an area where everyone goes to private schools
Grace/IL - We'll never know whether or not something will work unless we try it.
Sunny - I am a supporter of public ed, too. so many parents dislike public ed. I agree, some schools are bad, but not all.
Melissa - I think I got a great public school education
Paulie - I went to public school K-3 and parochial school 4-12 and two yers of college
Nanci/Oh/3 - I too live in a 'prefered neighborhood' with a very excellent school system. It is a county school. I teach in the inter-city in a very poor school...we are a Title I school...98% of our children are below poverty level, 96% are Black, and 25% have one or both parents in jail!
Sunny - I never went to private school. I do think I got a good education in public school.
Grace/IL - I think the scary part is something Chris posted on the main board about schools run by fringe elements.
Nanci/Oh/3 - We are the second lowest in the city in test scores.
Paulie - I never went to private school either Parochial school and private are two different things
Paulie - fringe elements? I msissed that one
Melissa - me too
Paulie - please explain fringe elements . . .
Grace/IL - On the other hand, to play the devil's advocate. Religion can be defined as "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith." Religion doesn't necessarily have to do with God. More to come --
Grace/IL - Fringe elements are people with beliefs that are far from the norm.
Paulie - Grace that is why I defined an atheist as being their own god
Nanci/Oh/3 - I need to be gone now...power is off all around us because of the heat...I need to take care of some things here before we lose it. I will try to come back...
Melissa - bye nanci
Grace/IL - So, if religion can be a "cause," our public schools have upheld many "causes" during our nation's history -- such as the socialization of our society.
Paulie - nite nancy
Sunny - I don't know if I'd say an aethiest is being their own God.
Sunny - Bye Nanci
Melissa - I'm going to , need to clean basement
Paulie - I disagree I believe that is what they hold as god -- themselves
Paulie - bye Melissa hmmmph choosing to clean than to chat
Sunny - Possibly...but I think it is more that they feel there is nothing to believe in.
Sunny - Bye Melissa, have fun in Nj. I loved living there.
Paulie - I never said that
Grace/IL - Atheism is a "belief." "A" is a prefix meaning "no" and theism" is belief in God.
Sunny - What didn't you say, paulie?
Paulie - Besides the pledge and all otehr Founding documnets that mention God don't mean u have to belong to a certain religion
Sunny - I agree...you can have your own beliefs, that's why I don't understand what the guy in CA is all riled up about.
Paulie - what the founding fathers were doing when they did mention "God" was to make it general so people had a choice not like those in England who ahd one church that was a state church
Sunny - They already give the option of not saying pledge.
Grace/IL - So, atheists believe there is "no God," not even themselves.
Sunny - Got to go..husband's home
Grace/IL - But they need to know that this country allows them freedom to think that way.
Paulie - Well, when u don't give God the credit as athesists don't, then they make themselves god
Paulie - nite Sunny
Sunny - Nice chatting with you all!
Paulie - but the man did not want his daughter to "hear" it either
Grace/IL - Nite Sunny, this is getting to be a very limited conversation.
Paulie - Grace why is it limited?
Grace/IL - Because there are only two of us left here. LOL
Paulie - o thought u meant I talked too much
Grace/IL - No, perhaps I scared everyone away.
Paulie - I wish some of the peopel from teachernet chatboard would get in here and talk
Paulie - they can post but not have to do "live" chat
Paulie - I doubt it just a bad time for us on west coast dinnertime if u have a family
Grace/IL - Well, this was a scheduled meeting about vouchers and the "under God" issue so I suppose they may be all talked out.
Grace/IL - Hi wick, welcome to this chat.
Paulie - And anything else controversial . . . lol
Paulie - Wick . . . hi Is that your regular name or a neame for this topic
Grace/IL - wick, are you there?
wick - Guess I came in late.
Paulie - Just a half hour late we still ahve time
Grace/IL - There were five or six in here at the beginning but they all ran away.
Grace/IL - Wick, what interests you?
Paulie - Wick, where are u from WA state here
Grace/IL - Paulie, where are you?
wick - These are very controversial topics. I'm having a hard time being told that the mention of God is a no-no.
Paulie - me too
wick - I'm from North Carolina.
Paulie - Washington state
Grace/IL - I started school before they put "under God" in the pledge. It was a good pledge then and is a good pledge the way it is now. Any change won't alter my beliefs.
wick - They worry about violence in school and then tell kids that is is bad to mention God.
Grace/IL - But Wick, don't you think these are the issues that cause parents to prefer private schools where God can be mentioned? Of course vouchers will help them achieve that end but there are scary elements to the vouchers too.
Paulie - I was in school before 54 when they inserted under God too but I did not notice as was jsut a little one then
Paulie - They said they took prayer out of school but I bet lots of prayers going up before tests . . ..
Grace/IL - Well, Paulie, that dates us, doesn't it?
wick - I teach in a charter school and we have staff that are ministers, too even though we receive state funds.
Paulie - not all private schools let u speak of God parochial schools do but some private ones are not run by churches
Grace/IL - Wick, that's an interesting concept. The southeast is very strong on private schools. Are you not allowed to speak of God in charter schools?
Grace/IL - Paulie, we visited the Olympic Peninsula a couple of years ago. It's very beautiful.
wick - Ours is the same as the public schools but we stand for education reform. We are not bound by some of the public schools dictates. The teachers, parents and board have the say-so.
Paulie - PS
Paulie - whoops I lost the text
Grace/IL - Wick, what are some of the dictates you can avoid?
Paulie - I had to leave cause I coudl not see the chat
Paulie - I hope Grace coems back
Paulie - Why did you choose going to a charter school?
Paulie - Maybe everyoen is having trouble in here
wick - The charter school has smaller class size, more creativity is allowed and we have more say-so in the school
wick - I have to go too. Nice taling to you
Paulie - so how long u teach at this charter school wick?
Paulie - darn . . . bye wick
Katie - Are you still in discussion or finished
Paulie - so . . . FAb and Katie what do u want to talk about
Paulie - Katie what do u want to say?
Katie - I'm joining late, what was the latest topic
FAB - So what is the deal about vouchers
FAB - what is the deal on vouchers
Paulie - I guess anyone that wants can have 25oo to go to another school
Paulie - but 25oo won't pay for a year of tuition at a parochial school
Katie - I don't currently have kids in school so
Paulie - so only the moderately wealthy will be able to use them so all the public schools will get to keep the poor kids
FAB - I don't believe vouchers should be allowed in any state
Katie - I find myself not too focused on this right now
Katie - Would 2500 allow a student to attend a charter school?
Paulie - well we don't have any choice the president got the vouchers passed they are gonna happen
Paulie - I don't know how charter schools work but I think they get to pick and choose kdis too
Katie - Fab-what is your major concern about vouchers?
FAB - public schools will wind up getting all the behavior problems
Paulie - u got that right FAB
FAB - parochial schools or private schools kick kids out as soon as they so much as misbehave a little
Paulie - while soem poor kids are NOT behavior problems (mine never were and we were poor)
Katie - Don't weathly families often send their behavior problem kids to private/military schools?
Paulie - many of the kids that can't afford the additional tuition will be left behind
Paulie - well even those kids can get kicjked out when their month of tuition is up
Katie - Then don't public schools already have the difficult kids?
FAB - people who have the means send their kids away if discipling is necessary.
Katie - Do you think lower attendance at public schools will allow for more attention?
Paulie - FAB . . . now as soon as they misbehave BUT as soon as their mo they paid for is up
Paulie - sure Katie in soem places
Paulie - o vouchers is not gonna solve it all
Paulie - No Katie because the vocher money will eb taken from the public schools and given to where kids go so they will ahve less money for supplies, programs
Katie - I'm concerned that vouchers will lead to schools "marketing" themselves too much
Paulie - Katie, do u think the president cares?
Katie - I think he cares but is out of touch with reality
FAB - Of course there always are the schools that have reputations for being the best, but what about the kid that wants to go there and is turned down?
Paulie - he is really out of touch with reality
FAB - I think that the president is totally in touch with himself if you know where I am coming from.
Paulie - If they have a voucher and grades to proive they fit and the rest of the money to pay . . .
Paulie - lol FAB agree
Katie - Are both of you teachers in K-12?
FAB - Yes
Paulie - elem here
Paulie - you?
Katie - Do you imagine that those students who go private with their vouchers will receive a "better" education?
FAB - I am teaching fourth this coming year. I have taught third and also learning disabilities.
Katie - I teach at the community college level
Paulie - some will
Paulie - o well no vouchers for those big kids!
FAB - Of course they will have the opportunity for a better education at the expense of those children who are needier.
Paulie - opportunity is the key word
Paulie - doesn't mean they will learn to be better students
Katie - Kay and JC- where commenting on the school voucher issue if you want to jump in
FAB - How true that is.
Paulie - and then how will they learn to live with peopel of all financial means?
Paulie - the world can't "protect" them all the time
Paulie - but then some of them will do wonderfully
Paulie - Instead of vouchers they shoudl just give the schools more money in the first place
jc - don't like the idea of vouchers because I believe in public education but have to be realistic. there are schools in my system that i wouldn't want my child to attend.
Katie - Yes, I think this whole thing has a "not in my backyard" mentality
Paulie - well jc int aht case why don't we gather up all those poor kids and give them their own voucher funded schools so they don't hasve to rub off on yoru kids good grief!
Paulie - Is it the kids or the teachers that are at fault?
Katie - I think it's primarily the administrators
Paulie - I don't think the kdis should be blamed
jc - the kids aren't the problem. i don't feel the education is up to par
FAB - I believe and I may be wrong that the public schools are going to have all the discpiline students. Those with vouchers might not be up to snuff. The teachers will get so frustrated that they will quit and then where will we be?
Katie - Hi Sierra- any comments on the school voucher issue?
Paulie - well, if the problem is the administrators, vouchers sure won't help the kdis that need it the most
*Sierra* - Well, I am a teacher...and my husband is a principal.
Paulie - AMEN, FAB!
Katie - Neither will giving the schools more money indescriminately
Paulie - well Sierra I hope not in a failing school
Paulie - Sierra do you work at same school?
*Sierra* - No, not failing....but all of the surrounding districts have passed bond their bond levy for new schools...everyone but us..so our enrollment is gradually declinging.
*Sierra* - No, we are in the same district...but different schools.
Paulie - taht is too bad . . . so u do teach together?
*Sierra* - Shoo.....lots of typos...sorry...
FAB - Will the parochial schools have the same requrement as far as test scores and the such as public? Test scores are so important in Missouri. It is insane!
Paulie - you are not alone with typos don't worry
*Sierra* - To be honest.....if our high school is in the same shape by the time my daugther is to go there...I will send her elsewhere...my husband (being in administration) doesn't agree.
Paulie - FAB many parochial schools are accredited by state also jsut liek public schools
Paulie - o that is good to not be at same school
Paulie - there are pros and cons for good students to go to a "good" schoola dn a poor one Who else will help raise the standsards if all the good students leave?
Katie - Sierra-what will be the major difference between the high school and wherever else you would send your daughter?
*Sierra* - Yes, being at the same school wouldn't be wise....he was assistant at my school for a couple of years...it was nice....but wouldn't want to be at the school while he was a principal
FAB - I don't think parochial school guide lines are as stingent
*Sierra* - Our high school has had a few ups and downs over the past few years.....the trend lately is complete lack of control of the students...it's a scary place to be right not.....I would send my daughter to a Christian school across the river.....Very good school.
*Sierra* - right now...I mean
Paulie - FAB depends on the school the ones I taught at were state accredited
*Sierra* - But for now....she goes to our local school....
jc - in my system employees get to send their children to any school in the system. they don't have to go to the zoned school.
FAB - I didn't want my daughter to attend the same school I taught. I thought is would be hard on her and also the teachers. They'd think they should treat her a special way.
*Sierra* - Same here
Katie - Fab-how did your daughter feel about it?
Paulie - jc well "poor" kids have transportation problems so they can't take much advantage to going to a school a long distance away
*Sierra* - I had the same thought FAB....but my daughter goes to my school...and it has worked out quite well....
*Sierra* - I hate to change the subject....but we are starting the AR program in our school this year...(yes, I know....a little behind the times)...anyway, does anyone know of any good websites...or classroom websites that could give me some good ideas on the program
FAB - It was good for her. There was no pressure that MOM is watching. I thought that I could at least give her the chance to do something wrong and have the opportunity to tell me herself. If she was at my school I would have known what happened right away.
Paulie - Did you try a search engien Sierra? Try Google.com many good things found through it
FAB - AR is a good reading program if it is used the correct way expecially in a whole school setting.
Katie - Sorry for my ignorance but since I don't teach in K-12, what is AR program?
*Sierra* - Thanks Paulie...
*Sierra* - Accelerated REading
Katie - Thanks!
jc - good program. it has really increases the circ of books. only draw back i see is that children will shy away from really good books because they are not AR books.
smagee/k/tx - Students read books, and answer questions on a computer to earn points.
Paulie - I hope u find soemthing Sierra or post to the chat board also
*Sierra* - Does anyone teach 4th grade?
jc - AR itself should have a web site that may give good ideas
FAB - It is using the computer to check comprehension on books read at the child's reading level. Then they get points towards prizes or whatever.
Paulie - I taught 4th two eyars ago
*Sierra* - I'm looking for the types of incentives teachers use...and the points they require....I have found a few websites giving suggestions that have helped...
FAB - I am teaching fourth this year. I taught third last year but it was a grant for a reduced class.
Katie - Do the teachers get to make up their own incentives?
*Sierra* - Do you use the AR program in your school FAB?\nds like there are little ones scurrying around upstairs...
Paulie - I wrote RESPECT on the board daily If they were misbehavign I erased a letter each time They coudl earn back fi they improved If they kept the whole word by end of day, I gave them a circular link to hang from ceiling
*Sierra* - that message didn't make sense did it..haha....My kids are running around upstairs when they should be in bed I better go......
Paulie - When the links "hit" the ground we had a reward for entire class
Paulie - gosh jsut when i was gettign started. . . oh well nite
jc - i charted my students' points in my room. awards were given at each point level. i started at ten and then expanded points as needed. the school also rewarded students that reached a certian goal and the top readers from each class were rewarded at the end of the semester
*Sierra* - nice talking to you all.....talk to you later
*Sierra* - what grade do you teach jc?
FAB - Our school just did AR totally this past year. Before that the AR teacher used it exclusively. The student body made a goal of the number of books they could read and pass in an amount of time. If they read and passed 1,000 books the principal said she would twirl her baton in a uniform. It worked.
Paulie - I also gave paper money I printed myself in different denominations and we had auction three tiems a year
jc - i teach middle school not but have taught 1st through adults at some point in my career.
Katie - Amazing what will motivate kids sometimes
Paulie - Katie teachers area lways making up their own incentives lol whatever works!
Paulie - Well, we sure did not talk about the pledge and vouchers liek I thought we woudl . . . lol a spattering is all -- the boards got us talked out I guess
Katie - A general question-this is the first time I've joined this chat-is it usually focused on K-12?
FAB - I need to go. Bye
Paulie - I ahve no idea -- I would imagine -- but things liekt he pledge and vouchers shoudl affect all not jsut K-12 teachers
Katie - Bye Fab
Katie - Isube-anything special on your mind tonight?
Paulie - Katie how did u find out about this chat?
isube - This is also my first time on this chat and just wanted to join in when I could.
Katie - Paulie-a recommendation from my instructor for a master's class I am taking
Paulie - That is the way to do it isube welcoem come often
Paulie - oic
Paulie - Katie what class are u taking?
Katie - I'm taking a class concerning issues in online education
Paulie - isube waht gr of kids do u teach?
Paulie - oic well Katie maybe you can also stop by on another regular ed topic night too tomorrow night is K-primary chat
isube - I teach kindergarten. I have taught K for 6 years and then went to first last year and am now back in K.
Paulie - I also taught K for three years isube
Paulie - em to the chat tomorrow isube 6:00 west cost and also again at 8 west coast
Katie - Thanks for the suggestion Paulie, I'll check out other topics
Jag - Katie suggestion check out e-literacy on-line its excellent!
Paulie - welcoem
isube - Paulie - I really like that age because you can do so much with them. I felt really pushed for time when I taught first.
Katie - Thanks Jag
Jag - isube I'm back in k after an 8 year stint in RR
Paulie - I taught first one year but really liek to either give kids their start (K) or teach them in 2nd when they are really getting into writing or teach state history in 4th lol I just love teaching
Katie - Well, I'm off to have dinner. Thanks everyone!
Paulie - nite Katie coem again
isube - I agree... I think first is one of the hardest grades to teach
Jag - bye Katie
Paulie - Are u K teachers going to use Building Blocks program for literacy?
Jag - No!
Paulie - why not?
Jag - Too many inconsistancies in the program
Paulie - u got to be kidding name one!
isube - My grade level is using another program that one of the other teacher went to a conference on. Reading groups with specific reading levels.
Paulie - for K isube?
Jag - Whole group "guided reading" is an impossibilty
isube - yes, we break into four reading groups and teach on there reading level whether it be learning letters, words or reading
Paulie - but with Building Blocks u teach ALL at THEIR level
Paulie - taht is 4 blocks for upper grades
Paulie - u don't do guided reading in K
Paulie - th BB
Jag - Separation of writing and reading doesn't give the students the control of the early behaviours
isube - Me school is big on differentiated learning where we need to meet the needs of ALL kids, I find that is one of the hardest and most challenging things I do
Paulie - BB does not seperate the two they go hand in hand
Paulie - sure it is isube
Jag - Assessment bothformal and informal is the way to met individual needs isube
Paulie - a in separate
Paulie - and u can do that with BB
Jag - I prefer teaching students not another program
Paulie - with BB u teach students
Paulie - reading and writing is doen "to, with and by studetns"
Paulie - and integrated
isube - I agree with you Jag
ja - Sorry my comp is acting up
Paulie - isube have u ever read the Building Blocks book?
ja - ja is jag
isube - Yes
Paulie - oh well
ja - Ive read the books and worked with pat. Iunderstand to with and by I wonder what Margret Mooney's perception of bb is?
Paulie - Well I ahve been here almost 2 hrs I guess I will go
Paulie - nite
isube - By Paulie, nice chatting with you!
isube - I am thinking about doing National Certs this year... what do you think?
Jag - What do you think of the National board certification
Jag - Great minds think alike!!!fools.......
isube - Well, I have mixed feelings about it.
Jag - From what I understand its an increase in pay and national certifications what do you see as draw backs
isube - I believe that it really does not show whether you are a great teacher... it show whether you are a great writer or not
isube - I had a friend go through it this year and it nearly drove her overboard!!!
isube - She is an awesome teacher but thinks she did not get it.
Jag - There is that but I have my BA .BEd and masters hanging in the bathroom if I ever run out of toilet paper. Besides where does every one go when they come to visit
Jag - At this point its voluntary. What are the pros?
isube - $7500 a year for 10 years. I say that is proof enough!!!!
Jag - Is the aggravation worth it? I'd say so.
isube - I would too!! so you thing you will go for it? I have pretty much talked myself into it.
Jag - Do you have the time? energy? support
Jag - I think I'll pass. Until I return to the US
isube - Yes, all of the above. No kids, my husband works at night and all the free time I want
isube - here are you now?
isube - Woops, where are you now?
Jag - I'm in Canada. I was in Michigan 99-01
isube - Wow, sounds like fun...are you from Canada?
Jag - Yes
Jag - Where are you?
isube - Do you find it as a big difference teaching there than in the states?
isube - I am in South Carolina
Jag - OMG yes!!
isube - We had a VIF from New Zealand come work with us last year, she is a hoot!!!
Jag - What's a vif and most kiwi's are a hoot
isube - She is a teacher coming over for two years to teach in the states
Jag - I miss being in the states
isube - What are some of the differences you see teaching in those two places?
isube - What are some of the differences you see teaching in those two places?
isube - Why don't you come back?
Jag - Ontario is going thru a neo-conservative gov. They've cut 14 mill a year from ed over the past 5 years. I do all my own specials ie music gym art french planning time is 20 minutes a day.over all the children are the same, the politics the same and we teach
isube - OMG!!!! Wow, I cannot believe that. I bet you are wanting to come back to the states!!!!!
Jag - I'd love to come back but work visa's and green cards are very very very hard to get even with sponsorship.
isube - How do you get through the day? What did you say you taught again?
Jag - I teach kindergarten full day everyday
isube - Yeah, same as me. Loco, what do you teach?
Jag - isube do you have the same students all day everyday or are you working on the mon. wed. alternate fri
isube - I have the same kids all day. we averagea bout 20 to 24 kids . How about you?
Jag - I had 22 students but the itineracy rate was so high I only had 12 of the original students it was a revolving door.
isube - Do you have an assisstant to help you in the class?
Jag - Ha ha ha ha LMAO
isube - Do you go all year 'round ?
Jag - No we're still on the agrian calandar summers off to harvest
isube - Loco, you are being pretty quiet!
isube - How many kindergarten classes do you have at your school - Jag
Jag - 3 one jr 3-4 yo and two sr 5-6yo
Jag - How about you ?
isube - How long have you been teaching?
isube - We have 4yo and 3 5yo
Jag - this will be year 18 WOW I can't believe it!
isube - Have you taught anywhere else?
Jag - Baffin Island 1yr, Manitoba, 1yr, Michigan 2yrs and the rest in my home district
isube - I've taught in the same school for seven years. This will be my eighth!
isube - What made you come to Michigan?
locolouie - Hey crew summers here and t the students are gone Yeah school!
Jag - The first five are the hardest after that I couldn't believe they paid me to do this
Jag - Hey loco we thought we'd lost you!!!
isube - That is exaclty how I feel. Did you teach K the whole time?
locolouie - Try staying interested after 25 years
Jag - No k-oac and 8 years reading recovery teacher leader
isube - Loco - I really don't have my summer because I am teaching summer school... I must be crazy!!!
