Heather - no, just this one...it's Intro to Computers in Ed.

amy - i never liked my comp in ed course, either - the blackboards and chatrooms took up too much of my time

It's me! - when you start centers, you ahve to explain them all at once during calendar time because there might be no supervision in them because you are busy with a group

milymo - I was at a meeting for the past two days.
amy - Hardin-Simmons in Abilene....I was only able to observe a "free center" situation for K, so I dont know how I want to do centers in my class!

It's me! - when you first start the centers you want to be able to walk around and see if they are doing them correctly (signing in and the actual directions)

amy - I have a home living center
It's me! - so then don;t have a bunch of structured centers at first have one with free play in housekeeping and one in blocks and one structured center where they have to show they did soemthing by making something
Heather - water/sand table? art center?post office?
amy - and i also will have the basics (manipulatives, reading center, etc.)...but, I just don't even know how to do the "rotation" or set it up....
It's me! - they sign in to that center with a clothespin or soemthing schedule rotating centers every 20 minutes
amy - i have a list of centers I would like to have, but I just dont know how to start it up.
It's me! - don't put all the centers up at the beginning
amy - are you meaning that the center they first choose is the one that they would stay at for 20 minutes or so?
It's me! - you have to show them procedures for using each one
It's me! - no don't let them choose schedule them
Heather - in the classroom at my school the kida all have name tags and there are pictures with velcro dots under them so the kids can stick their tag for the center they choose

milymo - It was pretty good, but it was frustrating knowing how much work I had here at home.
Heather - so start off really scheduled and oragnized and slowly let up and let them choose later on

milymo - I also was upset about leaving my daughter. It's only the second time I've left her overnight.
amy - so, you say it would be best to have the teacher place them in the centers at first and slowly let them have more "freedom"?
Heather - amy, i started interning in jan. so the kids already knew the routine
It's me! - I always ahd three things for them ot choose from in the mornings when they arerived so I coudl read notes, check hoemwork in and do the milk/juice schedule
milymo - Yes, but I still have 2-3 meetings within the next 7 days!

milymo - One meeting is to choose science experiments for our curriculum and the other ones are to continue to set up positive behavior supports in our school.

milymo - I think that the group sponsering the event paid for all of it. I will also receive a $200 stipend!
amy - i went to a job fair and that's how i basically got the job
amy - i was blessed to get a job very soon - but other friends are having a difficult time

It's me! - depends on the kind yyou have I ahve iMac and use iPhoto to save them but I got a disk that has another photo program i can use too from Kodak I ahve a card reader and it puts them in the computer aslso ahve usb cable I can connect to a tv set

Elephant has the big ears for my listening and i have a sign saying "I'm all ears" I have a peacock for my writing and he's holding a feathered pen that's says "Birds of a feather, write together" All my animals say a different saying to fit each center.

mudbug - I've been wanting to work on lesson plans for the whole school year with the other K teachers but we really don't know where to start. Seems like alot of work but in the long run it will make our year alot easier. Have you ever made out lesson plans for the whole year
