Kathleen - Hi LK! Are you a school library specialist?
LK - Hi! Yes I am
Kathleen - Oh, good! So glad you logged on.
LK - First year. Elementary
LK - Thanks Kathleen. I got busy doing chores and almost missed you
Diane S. - I'm in middle school.
Kathleen - I'll fade to being an onlooker as I'm not a LMS.
LK - I spent part of the day at school. Polishing lesson plans and doing a book order
Diane S. - Are you enjoying it?
Diane S. - Don't you *love* getting paid to spend someone else's money on books!!!
LK - My desk is a mess but yes I love it. I was a paraprofessional in a library before I went back and got my certificate
LK - The books are easy. The computer lab is more of a learning experience.
LK - Yes shopping with out the guilt. Do you ask for much input on which books to order?
Diane S. - Oh...you have an adjacent computer lab. I'm envious!
Diane S. - I ask for input from teachers but get very little response...
Diane S. - I just have to find out what they're teaching and decide what to buy.
LK - I'm a little afraid to ask and have a whole bunch of demands I don't want to meet.
LK - Still I do need some input....
Kathleen - (spending someone else's money on books sounds like a LOT of fun) sorry, couldn't resist that fantasy!
Diane S. - You always have a great excuse for NOT buying--not enough money.
Kathleen - Are you aware of the new Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art opening late in November in Mass.?
LK - I had a book challange on Thursday. That wasn't much fun.
Diane S. - What book?
LK - Child found a book with swear words---grandma called the super.
Diane S. - Not familiar with that one. What was decided?
Diane S. - LOL, I just realized that wasn't the name of the book!
LK - Will the museum have a web site. I'm not too impressed with any sites on Eric Carle so far
LK - ne--I think we have a form to be filled out...but I'm new--I'm not getting in any fights over a book.
Kathleen - There will be a web site...I have an article about the museum in the soon-to-be released November Gazette and hope to attend a press gathering before the grand opening.
LK - So we will probably just pull it
Kathleen - Museum: http://www.picturebookart.org/
Diane S. - I like Carle; but his books are a little too young for my students.
LK - Our Eric Carle books are always in use. They don't hold up to all the abuse...They never seem to be in library bindings
Kathleen - LOL, that's true, Diane! Not much call for the Very Hungry Caterpillar in middle school
LK - Thanks for the url I'll check it out.
Kathleen - you're very welcome, LK\
Diane S. - I guess the museum will be more than just his books. Some picture books are great for M.S.
Kathleen - LK, Diane is going to nurture this chat slot for LMS, perhaps with help from Jan B. I hope you'll return on future Sundays, and bring colleagues.
Kathleen - yes, the museum will feature much more than Carle books.
LK - Thanks. I'm usually at church but really needed to stay home and catch up this week
Kathleen - The next chat isn't until 8pmE, so please stay for as long as you wish up to that time. I have to leave. I'm happy you were able to come.
Diane S. - I need to get going, too. Thanks Kathleen & LK for the chat!
LK - Bye. Thanks!
Kathleen - Bye Diane, thanks!
LK - I'll go check that web site. Thanks Kathleen
Kathleen - Okay, LK< I hope you'll be able to come again sometime soon. Bye now.
