diane - hi bullfrog...hoping others join us
diane - when do you go to the ac?
diane - good afternoon pat...are you the pat i saw at phe yesterday or another pat?
pat - Hi! No, I wasn't at phe.
diane - hi kelly
Kelly M - Hi! How are you folks?
Kelly M - What's phe?
diane - school is over so i am fine...make that great!!
pat - Is there a specific topic today? I take my ac June 22nd. Trying to study but overwhelmed. I'm not out of school for 2 weeks yet.
diane - phe is my school and there is a pat there that is also getting ready for the ac and she is on the ring sometimes and i don't know it is her
Kelly M - Wow...congratulations, Diane! Pat, I'm with you. Our kids' last day is June 11 - teachers work day June 12. There is never really a specific topic. Feel free to throw anything out!
pat - I need help with 3rd grade social studies for ac
diane - i am now assuming that 2nd is the grade level for science, but since it changes so often just want to make sure
Kelly M - pat - nobody knows what to expect with that since it's one of the new topics for the new generation AC. I would go to the ss site and become familiar with the standards for third grade.
diane - i borrowed the 3rd grade teachers manual and am planning to go thru it piece by piece but haven't opened it yet so i am of no help
Kelly M - Diane - yes, nbpts has assured us (even after we pointed out the conflicting information we were getting) that second grade is correct for science.
diane - thanks...i thought so...i really wasn't on a mental state to study all science for k-3
pat - I'm going to ask a 3rd gr. teacher at my school for their teachers' guide to study when schoolis out.
Susan (NC) - Hi guys! How is everybody?
diane - do most states have egypt as part of their ss 3rd grade curr.??
Kelly M - Hi aggieb and Susan and Pam! How are you guys today? Susan....THANK YOU! It arrived today!
Pam - Hi everyone
aggieb - Just fine,, Glad to see everyone here!
diane - susan i am great...yesterday was our last post planning day so i am free!!!
Susan (NC) - Great Kelly- I am anxious to hear your review?
Kelly M - Susan - I've been gone all day and just got in and sat down to the computer at 3:00. I'll put it on in a minute!
Pam - Hi Kelly- received my box today but haven't had time to go thorugh it yet- guess it's for real now!
Susan (NC) - OK - no rush............it is just a fun CD to listen to but nobody gets it; unless they are a teacher!
diane - pam are you a newbie??? hope so because that is the only box i know about at this time
Pam - Kelly you mentioned the 3rd grade standards for SS where can I find them? Are they the national ones you are speaking of?
Kelly M - Pam - yes, that makes it official! Don't throw anything away. You'll need all of it sooner or later. Just save the box and everything in it!
Pam - Yes, Diane I am very much a newbie in a State that defines the word newbie, no one in PA seemsto know what NBC is
Kelly M - Pam - yes, I would go to the third grade standards at their site...I'm sorry, I don't have it in front of me. I think it's in the files...I'll check...
diane - well i am from fla and everyone knows and everyone will be waiting to see who passes...wish i could be anonymous in dec. but no such luck i am sure
Pam - I am lucky to have found you guys- all I have been able to do to this point is gather bits and pieces of intofrmation. I print out all the e-mails and digests then compile it inot a notebook- theat note book is getting thick!
diane - i didn't get involved in the ring until the end of my portfolio but wish i had used it all along...it will be such a great help to you...good luck with the whole process
pat - Welcome, Pam! Good luck! I'm at the end of this process with less than a month to AC. I have lots to study yet, especially social studies and reviewing 1st grade literacy. Anybody want to talk about either of those areas?
Pam - Well I am not as anonymous as I would like to be- even though my school district has not given one dime towards this process they were happy to announce to the Core Study Group that I am a member of for the PA Standards that I was the first to go for NBC and they "fully" supported me- this is in front of reps. from nine local school districts in our area- no pressure there....
pat - Actually, it may not be the end if I don't pass.
diane - lets talk about 1st literacy
Pam - Thanks for the welcome Pat,
pat - Someone mentioned Richard Gentry being a good resource for checklist and benchmark for 1st grade. Does he have a book to read? How is everyone preparing for that part of AC?
diane - do you think the question will need to include all phases of literacy or concentrate on reading...i see it as 2 schools of thought...approach from a phonological point or sight word/whole lang. approach depending upon the strengths of the child as told to us via his progress report
aggieb - Yes, Gentry is a great source..
Pam - I am re-reading the Guided Reading book for Fountas and Pinnell , Cunninghams work and that great book by Ellin Oliver Keene Mosaic of Though- do those seem like good choices?
pat - What's the name of his book? Diane, the exercise says reading specifically.
aggieb - I noted that the question was about reading, not "literacy"
Susan (NC) - Got to go; company just came-
aggieb - Do you think we should focus on reading, writing , speaking , listening just as we did in the portfolio?
diane - i did too but worry that they may branch off completely ...guess i'll relax and concentrate on reading
diane - where did kelly go??
pat - Those are good suggestions, Pam. My school does literacy collaborative (Marie Clay) so I'm going to review all my notes from the class I took this year on using the literacy framework. The title of the exercise is Literacy, but they only mention reading development in the exercise. Maybe I need to reconsider about it just being reading.
Kelly M - I'm here! I was just trying some of the links for social studies that are in our files...well, not really in the 'files'...but in the link on our homepage called 'database'.
Pam - I took a balanced lit. class this fall - by literacy collaborative do you mean Marie Clay's Observational Survey?
diane - as i said the prompt sample is reading but wouldn't we all look surprised when we go to the ac and see how they incorpoated it to include all comonents of literacy
pat - Literacy Collaborative is Ohio State University's name for their literacy framework. It uses all the guided reading, Marie Clay things.
pat - It's a balanced literacy program.
diane - i meant components not comonents
Pam - ok - I know what you are talking about, thanks
Kelly M - Here's what seem to still work. Sorry to drift back to Social Studies...but here two that might help. Try www.ncss.org/standards/teachers/ . That should get you to the National standards. Also, www.coreknowledge.org has very good lesson plans for SS.
Pam - It is easy to make a typing error when you can't see your full text
diane - so is 4 blocks...do i need to venture out and read m.clay's work or do you think 4 blocks materials is comprehensive enough?
Kelly M - let's try that again, so that they are active links... http://www.ncss.org/standards/teachers/ and http://www.coreknowledge.org ...
aggieb - Diane,, I am betting that 4 blocks is comprehensive enough!!
Kelly M - Diane....I would think 4 blocks is plenty! (It's what I use, too!).... I would stay with phonemic awareness stuff - Marie Clay's things are good. Whole language/four blocks, etc...that's the type of whole approach that will keep you going!
Kelly M - Hi Kathy! Glad to see you!
diane - i think 4 blocks is an easy read program and i am familiar with it so i will stick to it...my mind cannot handle ms. clay or another new program for reading
Kathy in Ct - Hi Kelly! Had to get some film delveloped of my daughter getting a scholarship, so I am a little late today!
Kelly M - diane - no problem! Four blocks stuff will touch on the areas you will need to talk about. You'll be fine!
Kelly M - Hi Heidi - welcome!
heidi - hello
diane - thanks guys....4 blocks it is!!!
Kathy in Ct - I take it today is about literacy. I was assuming we would get a piece of writing and be asked to tell the strengths of the child, weakenesses and how to address them.
Kelly M - Kathy - you're probably on target with that idea. Heidi - can we help you? Are you a new candidate?
pat - That makes sense, Kathy.
Kelly M - Kathy - actually, we started with SS, but quickly moved over to literacy. But any topic is certainly fair game!
heidi - Im just trying to get the jist of the conversation. I don't feel that the SS standards are enough. Do we need to know content??
Kathy in Ct - Being a mother trained me to do many things at once, so I am happy to talk about ss and literacy!
heidi - I ordered an old student ss book and am reading up on what they learn in 3rd grade. Am I headed in the right direction??
Kathy in Ct - For ss I have been looking at a third grade text and it seems to be mostly about goods and services, natural resources, landforms,
Kathy in Ct - It is also about native americans, and colonial times
Kelly M - Heidi - yes, you'll probably need to be familiar with content, too. The coreknowledge link should help with that.
heidi - I find communities are also addressed. I'm thinking of learning about 2 communities and maybe how to compare and contrast??
Kathy in Ct - Hi bruppert
aggieb - wouln't it be great if we did analyze a piece of student work.. mabye we can get a few uploaded and then analyzed to compare results
diane - i would assume we need to know content and for most of us 3rd grade content seems so secondary you know like middle school stuff....my knowledge of egypt wouldn't fill a time pyramid...that is egyptian right???
Kelly M - Hey there bruppert! How are you today?
Kelly M - Hi Paul - can we help you?
Paul - just looking around.... I am new to this site... it has a ton of information
bruppert - great, how are you?all
diane - i am great...school ended yesterday!!!!
heidi - i will be great Friday!
bruppert - Kelly what are we talking about today
Kathy in Ct - I was wondering if the question would be to compare your own community to one in the scenario as far as landforms, natural resources available, how people in the community depend on each other for goods and services etc.
heidi - that sounds like a good question
Kelly M - Kathy - that sounds like a typical scenario. The problem is, we have no past on which to draw! bruppert - we're talking about everything!
diane - kathy that sounds good and encompasses a lot of material too
aggieb - Kathy that was a sample question posed by our state's NAE
diane - everyone seems tired today
aggieb - I am also reading a third grade ss manual, I focues heavily on communites,
Kelly M - keep in mind that just like science, different districts have different social studies curriculum. So don't tie yourself to just what your school does. Ask around.
trina - Hi all! Can't stay long but am overwhelmed just thinking about the AC.
Kelly M - Hi trina - how are you?
aggieb - Tired does not describe what my body feels.
trina - amen
trina - I take it we are talking about ss
Kelly M - Hello perru - can we help you?
perru - Hi everyone. I'm new to chat rooms. Just finished school yesterday. AC coming up 6/13.
diane - i had to move all my stuff home since a lot of us are moving to a new project child school in aug. and i have spent these last days transporting stuff home and trying to find a place for it...my 20 yr. old now has mono and yesterday being a post planning day, my 15 yr. old dyed his hair a deep purple
trina - some advice that was given to me was to do some of the things that we normally do and make it fit the specifics. Such as study guides, venn diagrams, etc. What do you think?
Tim - Hello
diane - do you a study guide for the kids to work from??
Kelly M - Hi Tim - can we help you?
Kathy in Ct - Sounds good to me. My trouble will be just getting started and typing for 3 hours!!
heidi - trina, i was thinking along the same lines. sort of have a general answer for each question and then tie it into the specifics
Tim - Just stopped by to see what was going on
trina - I have to have a game plan or am afraid that I will freeze up.
Kelly M - trina - yes - I think you're right. Don't forget allowing for children on different levels. Include parental involvement!
heidi - me too
Kelly M - Hi bette....and how are you?
trina - Good advice. I tend to remember the inclusion kids or at risk but forget the tag.
sue - hey aggie-- relax a little!!
diane - trina, how do you mean study guides?
bette - Kelly,I am fine,so have I missed much?
Kelly M - Be sure to address how you will determine prior knowledge. And how you will assess. And where you would expect to take them.....
Tim - Is there a planned event right now or is this just open discussion. I don't want to intrude.
sue - what topic are we talking about now? I;m lost
Kelly M - Hi Sue - join in! bette - you haven't missed too much....
Kelly M - trina - don't forget the top kids, too....
heidi - I was also thinking about tying into other curriculum areas?
sue - OK - are we wokring on math misconceptions or did I miss that one?
sue - brb
trina - I checked with the third and fourth grade teachers in my building and they give guides at the beginninh of each unit. The reason being that these transitional readers cannot always determine what is important . This just gives them an outline but not all of the answers.
Kelly M - Tim - this is a meeting for EC-GEN candidates for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Are you a candidate? If you are just looking for a chat, try one of the chat rooms here at teachers.net .
bette - Kelly will you be comingto DC inJUne?
Kathy in Ct - math has not been mentioned here today, but good thread on EC-gen messages
Kelly M - oh, trina - I like that!
Kelly M - bette - I think so. Don't have my exact dates yet, though. I'll let you know!
diane - that is what i thought you meant trina but i have never had to do that teaching only k-2...good idea
Tim - I am not a candidate. I will try another room. Bye now
bette - Kelly, do let me know andI will meet you
Kelly M - trina - it would be a good way to organize your thoughts. Hit all the regular topics....parental involvement, prior knowledge, etc. Sort of an outline, right?
Kelly M - Hi Mary!
Kathy in Ct - I am pleased with the activity on the ring lately for math misconceptions and for science. I would like to keep it going on science and then maybe get to ss.
trina - right!
sue - so I guess we're talking about what needs to be included in the sstudies, science and pe lessons we need to crette
trina - I am not realy sure how to study for the pe/safety/health topic.
Kelly M - Kathy - I think the ring has come alive thanks to a few of you who stuck with it! I think the ring should sort of stick to math and science right now...and next week move to SS. I think play really is covered PLENTY in the files.
sue - what was the final verdict- will math be K or do we need to know the entire range of the certificate?
Kathy in Ct - join the club trina! we brainstormed some possible topics a couple weeks ago. Check the archives for 2 weeks ago on this chat.
trina - I will...thanks
Kelly M - sue - math is K, science is Grade 2, SS is 3rd, play is pre-k, literacy is grade 1, and PE/Health/Safety is Grade 3.
aggieb - Sue, I don't think there was ever a question about Math,,It was always K
sue - what I;m most concerned about is the reading. haven;t taught na " official" reading class in 11 yrs
pat - I'm glad to hear more talk on the ring. I was beginning to think I was the only one left to take the Ac. Not really. There are others out there talking.
Kathy in Ct - I agree Kelly, the math discussions were very helpful. We need to talk more about how to address the misconceptions and really dig in on the science.
sue - aggie and kelly- LOL! I;m just a little paranoid afeter so many doffernt answers
Kelly M - sue - you might want to talk to some first grade teachers. Ask what they are doing for all phases of literacy. Don't forget that literacy includes oral and written language as well as 'reading'....
sue - science- basic misconceptio is animistic thought
Kathy in Ct - Pat, that is how I felt until I wrote a note saying the ring was awful quiet and I had ring withdrawl!
diane - sue get a hold of the 4 blocks frameworks manuals as they are easy to read and i believe should cover it all for reading
Kelly M - sue - and well you should be! They were dishing out conflicting responses to our questions all the time. But they are now well aware of that....and have assured us that science is grade 2.
sue - kelly- I taled with the reading recovery folks and am reading some great books
pat - Kathy, I think you got me talking on it more.
aggieb - I think we plan a science lesson and relate it to a big idea not a misconception
sue - my problem is our overall population is so low at our school what we does is probably 1-2 grade levels below level
Kathy in Ct - Glad to have you with us Pat! Aggie, I agree about relating it to a big idea. They do mention the misconceptions, so we need to be able to discuss those too.
sue - aggie- thought you needed to address the misconceptions as part of your assessment, too
heidi - sue, what is animistic thought?????
perru - heidi, I was wondering the same thing
bette - me too!!
heidi - i'm glad i wasn't the only one
Kelly M - Sue - if you're looking for some great literacy books, the four blocks ones are terrific. Also, Strategies That Work and Reading for Meaning are great, too!
sue - here's some stuff from our second grade science-- big idea-- systems: lessons: light activity: prisms
bette - sue, which oneare you referringto, with assessment,?
sue - heid- thinking living things are alive, giving them feelings and actiions
aggieb - i feel like i need to just explore those areas hands-on
sue - the science quetion--how to futher student understanding
Kelly M - I would guess you'll have to be able to recognize misconceptions and talk about how you would deal with them.....but that is just a guess, of course! I know we had to with the old generation.....
heidi - the aims activities are great for inquiry science
perru - Sue, so you mean if we squash a flower it won't scream "ouch"
trina - does aims have a web site?
heidi - yes
sue - big idea: constancy and change--theme: solids, liquids and gases
pat - Would everyone agree that the big ideas for second grade mostly relate to change, systems, or models - but mostly change?
sue - perru- that's right
Kathy in Ct - our sci has soil, butterflies, changes, and balance as the 4 units for the year.
Kelly M - trina - yes, aimsedu.org - but their stuff is expensive (most of it)!
trina - will we be given a topic and have to make it fit into one of the big ideas?
sue - here's another one for systems-- germs and what makes you sick.
sue - this is a great unit for health and pe, too
trina - thanks Kelly. do they have teacher suggestions/
prettydr - hello everybody
perru - trina, I don't think anyone can give us that kind of info can they?
trina - hello
Kelly M - Hi prettydr - can we help you?
sue - " teachers will exhibit there knowledge of a science concept as it relates to the big idea" doesn't say where the topic came from
prettydr - sure you can help me............................help me survive the AC in June
prettydr - Kelly don't be so mean to me I'm new to the room
Kelly M - trina - the big idea that you choose would determine what direction you would go with that content unit...
Kathy in Ct - I got the feeling we would be gicen a topic and aske to tell the misconceptions a child might have, how to address them and what big idea the unit would fit it to. Also how accomodate different learning styles, different ability levels and materials need
trina - What I mean is will we be given specifics or just generalalities?
trina - I thought about the same as Kathy.
sue - kathy- that doesn't sound too bad but it means they would have to have an awful lot of topics.
Kelly M - prettydr - didn't realize I had been mean to you.... welcome! the new messages pop up at the top of your page.
Kelly M - I think they will give you specific information from which to begin...
prettydr - sure I understand that
Kathy in Ct - I agree, guess we will just have to wait and see. I will know for sure on June 4th.
Kelly M - sue - a lot of topics yes...but remember, you only have 30 minutes to read and respond to the prompts...so they can't/won't expect you to go into too much detail!
diane - if we picked our own topic they would never get them graged as they can't know all topics we would choose
prettydr - Kathy M I like your thinking
trina - makes sense.....just wishful hoping I guess.
sue - just a quick note about math-- these are 4 things all children need to from concepts 1. expereince 2. interaction with others/materials 3. language to go with experiences and 4. time for reflection
sue - kelly- so bullets and numbering are OK?
perru - I applaud anyone going through nationals with a baby
trina - Sue are you looking at observation as much of your assessment for that?
Kathy in Ct - sue, they said bullets and list were fine
sue - trina- I teach PK observation and anecdotal note are the rule for me
Kelly M - sue - absolutely - you can answer in incomplete sentences! Whatever works best for you!
sue - aggie- still with us?
diane - i applaud all of us since this has about killed me and my house couldn't be dirtier!
Kathy in Ct - you can't see over the laundry in mine!
perru - amen, diane
Kelly M - diane - LOL - that part doesn't get any better - at least not for me! but then again, mine was a mess before I ever heard of nbpts!
sue - kelly- great! My ideas usually flow better in short lists, phrases and bullets
sue - diane- I spent the weekend after my portfolio was mailed waxing floors, cleaning cabients, etc!
bette - Kelly the computers we will be working on--will they have windows stuff?
sue - I'm the last one to take the AC from my group.
diane - o.k., o.k. my house was possibly a mess before but NOW i have a good reason to blame it on...you got me!!
prettydr - I am totally lost for the assessment
heidi - you can go to the nbpts site and take a practice test using the computer program
Kathy in Ct - from what I understand they are all ps's. I am a mac gal so I had to go and practice at a friends house,
Kathy in Ct - oops! that was pc not ps!
sue - heidi- how do you access it. I couldn't get in
Kelly M - bette - NO - they are VERY basic. Try the practice site on nbpts.org - I think that is similar. NO spellcheck...no nothing. But you will get as much time as you need to play around with it BEFORE you click to begin the test. It will let you practice going backwards and forwards and everything. but there are very few bells and whistles on it.
mary - For the play prompt will they also give us a scenario?
heidi - where did you have a problem getting in?
diane - thanks kathy...i wasn't sure i knew how to use a ps....maybe we are (Gals) suffering from some sort of p(m)s
Kelly M - Hi LK - how are you?
trina - Well, I gotta go. I have been a silent reader all year. Thanks for evertyghing>
sue - heidi-- wait, it wasn't the nbpts site. it was the iowa site
prettydr - I tried to get in the iowa site on yesterday and it wouldn't let me log on
sue - I'm waiting until tuesday to get serious about studying
LK - Hi Kelly. Fine. How is everyone?
heidi - i went on the iowa site too. it was very scary with the questions they had as practice ones
Kelly M - mary - hi there! sorry, I didn't see you come in! In the past, we were given a play scenario and asked several questions about it. I would imagine yours will be similar.
bette - too funny, diane!!
Kathy in Ct - I went to the nb site and clicked on I am a candidate and went to 2002-2002 and then clicked on assessment. It came up as an option.
prettydr - I followed the directions and it said wrong user
sue - it's the kid's last day and all my grant evals will be completed by then
Kelly M - hmmm - I haven't tried either site, I'm sorry to say. But I would strongly suggest that you try at least one of them.....probably both! Practice helps. If nothing else, it gets you familiar with the format....
diane - heidi...i almost died with their questions...didin't you feel DUMB...i am SO looking forward to my ac after that experience
sue - kelly- willdo that tuesday pm
Kathy in Ct - Kelly, can you post the http for the IOWA site? I have been using the nb practice but have not seen the IOA site.
bette - does any onehave the address forthe Iowa site/
sue - I had a hard copy from the iowa site. I didn't think they were that bad
Kathy in Ct - Must be getting tired. That should be IOWA not IOA!!!
Kelly M - hold on...I'll get it...
sue - brb I'll got look
Kathy in Ct - Thanks Kelly
bette - thanks in advance, Kelly !
perru - I've heard that the questions from the Iowa site are retired questions from before the new generation certification. Will that make a difference
heidi - in that case they had notes to refer to
Kathy in Ct - the old generation could bring all kinds of things with them. We can not bring anything at all.
Kelly M - I have http://fp.uni.edu/nbpts/Registration/explanation.html ... I know it is the Univeristy of Northern Iowa that builds that site...so I think this address is correct.
diane - well sue you are a better man than i am...maybe i wasn't in the right frame of mind...yes thats it..i wasn't in the right frame of mind!
prettydr - I know isn't that a bomber
Kelly M - perru - I think you're right...but I'm not sure. Watch to see if it allows you 90 minutes or 30 minutes. If it's 90, it's from the old format. But still, it's a way to practice. They time you...and you can print it out. You can then go back and see the glaring things you left out (if any!). It helps build your sense of timing. If the site is 90 minutes, set your timer for 30 and have a go at it.!
perru - good idea, Kelly
bette - good advice, Kelly
Kelly M - trust me...with everything we had to answer in the 90 minutes, we didn't have time to look at notes!
Kathy in Ct - thanks for the address Kelly. I will try it later.
sue - kelly- just tried that site and got a 404 error
Kelly M - Kathy - I think I'll post that address again on the mailring. I'll also put in the social studies ones I found today. That way people will have them in front of them instead of having to wait for this to be edited and uploaded into the archives.
perru - I'm going to trust my 19 years of good teaching instincts on this one. It can't be too much different from what we do ona daily basis
prettydr - I tried it also and got an error message
sue - here's the address for science misconceptions: www.amasci.com/misc/opphys.html
Kathy in Ct - thanks kelly Some of us don't have much time left anyway!
sue - from what I understand it's more application- what can you do to help this kid
sue - I have about a month til my exam
Pam - HI Kelly - I just logged onto the site for Iowa and it indicated an error
Kelly M - perru - you are exactly right!
prettydr - application for what part sue?
sue - let me look in one more place brb
Kathy in Ct - kelly maybe they never updated the site since they don't have new generation type questions.
sue - the math- identify what's wrong and how to reach the student. literacy-what are strengths and weakenesses and how to do an instructional plan
perru - Exactly what I was thinking, Kathy
Kelly M - I'm trying the Iowa site. Try it with just http://fp.uni.edu/ and try to log on. I'm not sure what that requires...but I'm going to try it later and see if I can work my way through to it!
Kelly M - Kathy - some others have said that they have used it this spring....
heidi - i have tried it
diane - unfortunately so have i
Kelly M - hmmm, I'll have to work on this one. I'll also ask on the ring and see if anyone else can help us out!
Kelly M - I need to go now, though. I'll see you all on the ring!
Pam - HI Kelly- just went to that site as well and it indicated it was a front page account?
sue - sorry yall didn't find it
Kathy in Ct - I have to go too. Thanks for good input for ss. See you on the ring. Kathy
bette - may be we can find the address going on the ring and doing a search
sue - have a great afternoon yall
prettydr - what was the input for ss??
bette - some others have mentioned it on the ering. so wecan findit I amsure
diane - well i am tired so off i go...have a good week for those who still have school days to go..take care
Pam - Hey everybody- I've got to go to help out at Little League concession- thanks so much for al l your help- see you next week.
bette - well gott a go,too Good luck to all!!
prettydr - just got here and everybody leaving (
perru - prettydr, I think earlier some suggested using curriculum guides for third grade and also a web site for ss standards.
prettydr - thanks perru
perru - can't remember what they were, though. WHat grade do you teach
prettydr - first grade
perru - I taught first grade for 13 years, k for 5and this year was my first year in 3rd
Nicole - I teach third grade too
prettydr - so whats the ss like for 3rd perru?
prettydr - hoping to become a literacy coach for next year
Nicole - what state do you teach in?
perru - communities, native americans, colonists, economy, landforms
perru - I teach in GA
prettydr - I teach in GA as well
perru - Is a literacy coach like a reading specialist
Nicole - We had a unit on Rome
prettydr - yes.........where I will be working with certain teachers
perru - Nicole where do you teach
Nicole - Texas
prettydr - where in GA perru?
prettydr - What part of Texas?
perru - Covington, Ga. 45 miles east of Atlanta
Nicole - South Txas Calhoun County ISD
prettydr - What part of Texas?
prettydr - I had a good friend in Plano.....................they wanted me to come and work there for nothing
prettydr - I said nope can't do it
