Amy in NC - Well, I guess we can at least chat with each other for the time being...do you have your "box?"
Susan in GA - I sent my box off in April. I'm taking the assessment test nest week!
Amy in NC - Congratulations and good luck.... I am just at the begining of the process
Susan in GA - I hope you are excited! You are about to embark on a journey of great magnitude. Do you have any cohorts to work with you?
jen - Ha ha Box
Amy in NC - I have two coworkers who will also work towards certifiation this year
Susan in GA - Hopefully, you will work together and support one another. You will have your ups and downs.
jen - My principal wants me to this this too
Amy in NC - I just attended a two day pre-candidate workshop Monday and Tuesday, 150 came the first day, about 100 the second...
Amy in NC - Do YOU want to do it Jen?
jen - But franky, it sounds like a lot of work
jen - He already gave me the check to start the process
Susan in GA - You're lucky. I didn't have the opportunity to attend a workshop until last November.
Amy in NC - I am a member of my state's teacher organization and they will have workshops throughout the year. North Carolina pays for all teachers to complete the process.
jen - too
jen - My county pays too.
Susan in GA - jen - It is a LOT of work. Amy - I have heard some great things about NC support. Attend all the workshops you can. Talk to others and get someone to read, read, read, your entries.
jen - yet they have no money for teacher raises. Seems kinda ironic
Susan in GA - jen - You will get a raise if you pass won't you?
Amy in NC - I am memorizing standards and reading the portfolio... Jen- NorthCarolina offers 12% pay raise for all NBPTS certfied teachers
Susan in GA - Ga has a 10% raise
jen - yes but the other teachers won't
Amy in NC - What state are you in Jen?
jen - I wonder if I will be better off looking for a husband
jen - Maryland
Lori - must say....just got married....getting a husband is a great way to get a pay raise...mine even helps grade papers when there is no football on tv
Lori - lol
jen - Lori, that is helpful
Lori - hubbies come with problems, too....but well worth it!
Amy in NC - Husbands who are willing to grade papers are well worth it
jen - Lori, yours sounds like a keeper. you are lucky
Lori - lol....so true....what do you guys teach?
jen - I teach social studies
Amy in NC - I teach high school English and French
Lori - i teach reading at 8th grade
Susan in GA - I teach students with severe behavior disorders
jen - Amy, do you get the Don and Mike radio show there?
Lori - could use your expertise amy....this is my first year in the language arts field

wizzlewolf - Too many bossy people, disorganized, stupid, stupid, stupid. I don't have time for that kind of idiotic experience.
