teachcrys - hello
Stanley - tcrys,hello!
teachcrys - are you a new teacher
Stanley - Are you a beginning T?
Patti - No, but sometimes I feel like it!!
teachcrys - not yet
Stanley - LOL... I posted before I saw YOUR post! I'm credentialed, in my 6th yr of subbing.
teachcrys - i will be next fall, i am studying right now
Stanley - Greetings, Patti!
teachcrys - cool, i start subbing this semester
teachcrys - hello patti
Patti - HI
teachcrys - i was wondering when people would come on
teachcrys - right now it's only 8 here
Stanley - Subbing is EXCELLENT preparation for student teaching, IMO. [If only **I** had done it prior to taking my ed courses... ]
teachcrys - i will be student teaching next fall
teachcrys - i can't wait
teachcrys - hi becks
teachcrys - so where is everyone from
Stanley - Hey, 8 beats 6 -- as it is in CA!
teachcrys - KS here
Stanley - I'm in SoCA. BTW, be **SURE** to check out T.Net's Sub ChatBoard for **GREAT** info/dialogue on subbing!
Suzan - I'm in Virginia
teachcrys - okay, i will check it out
teachcrys - thanks
teachcrys - suzan what do you teach
Stanley - tcrys, my parents met in Central KS: Tiny little burg names Bazine. [It's not far from Russell, home of Bob Dole.]
Suzan - I will be teaching third
teachcrys - cool, i can't decie between 3 or 5
Stanley - Suzan, G-3 for your first yr of teaching? When does your school yr start?
becks - i am from nc
Suzan - We start the day after labor day
Suzan - You make it sound like 3 is bad?
teachcrys - what do you teach
Clara - Hello everyone, I am a beginning teacher in TX
becks - i teach first grade
Stanley - Welcome back, becks! As for grade level, in CA G-3 & below USUALLY have 20 or less Ss. Therefore, I'd like something in G-1 thru G-3.
Stanley - Suzan, NOT at all! It would be MY first choice! [But I can see how I worded my comment poorly... ]
Clara - has anyone else had a hard time finding a job?
becks - hi clara what are you teaching
Michelle - i take it everyone is new in the field?
Patti - I teach 5th grade and I love it!
Stanley - LRStan, are we some sort of relatives?
LRStan - I've been working at the same school for 3 yrs now...i'm having a hard time finding a job closer to home though
Clara - I haven't started teaching yet, but I am certified to teach Pre-K through 6th
becks - in my county we have lots of openngs
teachcrys - not yet, i wont be teaching for another year i am still in school
becks - oops openings
Suzan - Stanley I think I will really enjoy teaching 3 all except for the state testing in 3!
LRStan - no stanley....I'm a Stanford
becks - clara are u looking only close to home
Stanley - Patti, up until the last 18 mos or so I'd always considered myself best suited to intermediate grades. Clara, I'm a 6th yr Sub, so does THAT tell you something about difficulties finding a job?
Clara - somewhat...everywhere within reasonable driving distance
LRStan - I was reading the boards and came across an website written by an unbelievabley awesome teacher!
Michelle - 6th year? wow, which state do you reside in?
Clara - quite a few people have suggested that I move
becks - are u straight out of school
Clara - Stanley, I don't know how you do it!
Stanley - becks, where abouts are you? I'm not all THAT far from Los Angeles, where they're apparentally QUITE eager for CREDENTIALED Ts.
Clara - I hated being a sub
Patti - Me too Clara!
teachcrys - what's the website
becks - nc a far cry from la
teachcrys - i start subbing in sept
LRStan - I live in Alabama
becks - nc just got named #1 for their testing bummer!!!
LRStan - teach....just a sec I'm getting it
LRStan - http://www.geocities.com/mrmooresclassroom/index.html
LRStan - I don't know how he does all that!
teachcrys - subbings not that bed
Stanley - Clara/Michelle, I'm in SoCA, specifically CA, where there is NO shortage of elementary credentialed Ts. As for Subbing, I average over 200 days/yr & GREATLY enjoy it -- other than the compensation!
teachcrys - bad, sorry
Michelle - you just have to pay your dues
Michelle - so you prefer to sub rather than have something permanent?
becks - has anyone thought about national boards
Clara - Stanley, Im surprised that you say there is no elem. teacher shortage...I just got an email trying to recruit me to move to LA to teach
Clara - thats really strange
laughter - Is it true that all Head Start Teachers will have to have an AADegree to work?
Stanley - LRStan, I put the URL on my clip board for later perusal. Thank you!
Michelle - yeah, i fgured LA wouldn have a shortage
Michelle - i mean "would"
LRStan - good....Stanley....he's got some great ideas....i wish i had time to do all he does
Suzan - Who here will be a 1st year teacher in August/September?
teachcrys - i will be a 1st year sub without a teaching degree
Stanley - Clara, L.A. -- **ABSOLUTELY**!! San Diego, however, has NO shortage, though they continue to **FAST FORWARD** out of state applicants from "4 year" states!
teachcrys - am getting my bach degree at K-State in elementary education
teachcrys - i am starting to get nervous because i actually have to teach real lessons in the fall
teachcrys - any ideas for teaching math and science
Suzan - T it is really not that bad
teachcrys - in my class we have to teach 4 science lesssons and 4 math lessons
Suzan - make them as hands on as you can with the group of kids that you have it will depend on how hands on it can be
Suzan - like when i taught math facts I used baggies of cheerios, they were able to manipulate them and then eat them
teachcrys - i read about this domino game you can play to work on math
teachcrys - but i don't know how it works
Stanley - Suzan, I could have interviewed @ sites in L.A., though I wasn't ready to make the move @ this juncture. How soon will you have access to your actual classroom? Also, how many Ss will you have?
Suzan - not until mid august b/c it is being renovated i will have 12 students it is an alternative school
LRStan - teach...I use lots of centers for all subject areas...students really enjoy them
Clara - Im gong to be a first year teacher in August...that is if I find a job
Suzan - but don;t let the word alterntive scare any of you
Stanley - Suzan, alternative school? Can you elaborate?
Stanley - Clara, where did you say you were located?
Stanley - luvkids5, jump right in!
Suzan - Alternative can vary from behavior to academic, but they can't qualify for SPED
Suzan - it is supposed to be a more small group to one on one atmosphere while trying to get them back up to grade level
Stanley - Suzan, since I work almost enitrely in urban schools, I've a picture of your population...
Clara - Im in Texas
Suzan - Stanley I will give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don;t count
Stanley - Suzan, my major employer does something like that with certain G-1, calling them "accelerated" G-1s.
Suzan - I was a remedial teacher there this past year on a PT basis and loved it
Stanley - Clara, from T.Net's SubBoard I BELIEVE I recollect Houston being in dire need. Have you thought about Los Angeles? Pay is NICE there, plus they move you up VERY rapidly the first 12 yrs or so!
teachcrys - any ideas from anyone else
Mike - what kind of ideas?
teachcrys - ideas for teaching math and science
Clara - Houston is in need, but I can't afford to move across the street, much less across the state,or the country for that matter! LOL
teachcrys - i don't know what grade yet
Stanley - Mike & NICOLE, GREETINGS, & jump right in!
Suzan - teach, you just need to start surfing the web for ideas that is what i do if i get stumped for ideas
Suzan - mike and nicole where do you teach and what levels?
NICOLE - Teach...go to a "teacher" store and browse
NICOLE - third grade, TX
bobby - what's the topic now, please?
teachcrys - i have been searching, what's the teacher store
Stanley - tchcrys, I agree with Suzan. Post a specific query on the appropriate T.Net Chatboard! [There are > 120 of them now! ]
Suzan - there are several diff kinds of teacher stores
NICOLE - Ours is called VTO Victoria Taching and Office supplies
NICOLE - teaching*
teachcrys - i am on five different listservs and i no one is responding to me
Stanley - NICOLE, Nice comment re the "T" store!
NICOLE -
bobby - what's the teacher's store, please?
NICOLE - teach...did you student teach??? You should have a wealth of info if you had a good mentor
teachcrys - i haven't yet, i am still in school
Stanley - tchcrys, listservs are fine, too, though you MIGHT be catching most of them in an off period. [I mean, Ts on summer breaks, right?]
bobby - which school areyou in?
teachcrys - k-state
teachcrys - i student teach in a year, but i am going to start subbing in the fall this year
bobby - we are probably in the same boat, tchcrys
Stanley - bobby, I think the attendance folder is still in the classroom...
NICOLE - Your teacher should have lesson plans
bobby - what attendance folder, pardon?
Stanley - NICOLE, just guessing, but perhaps tchcrys needs the lessons for T.Ed courses?
NICOLE - Oh..I see
Clara - Thanks for the chat everyone, but I have to run! Bye!
teachcrys - i am terrible in science that is why i was asking
bobby - Aren,t we supposed to talk about some classroom strategies?
teachcrys - i just don't have any ideas for that type of lesson
NICOLE - We made a lot of them up with our Prof's guidance
wizzlewolf - Teach, here is a web page to start to find lessons for oodles of stuff......
wizzlewolf - http://www.wizzlewolf.com/plan.html
bobby - Tchcrys, which subject do you mean?
teachcrys - science
teachcrys - it's the only subject i am worried about
Stanley - bobby, I'm a 6th yr sub, & kids are ALWAYS coming in late. If the attendance folder is there, you change it. If not, the kid has to go to the office to check in. [Translation: I was making a joke...]
NICOLE - Go to your college and ask to check out a Teacher science textbook...they have lots of activities to start
bobby - what's your major, teach?
Jamie - any new high school teachers here?
teachcrys - we get to teach in groups for my class so that should be better
teachcrys - my major is elementary education
bobby - thanks, stanley
teachcrys - what's yours bobbu
teachcrys - bobby*
bobby - you must love kids, teach.
bobby - adult education
Stanley - wizzle, thanks for the URL! I'll check it out later...
NICOLE - relax...I was nervous in college too...but it'll work out. Just bounce ideas off your classmates
teachcrys - yes very much i am a dance teacher right now with kids from the age of 5 to 14
bobby - I saved the link of Wizzle
Stanley - NICOLE, ANOTHER good idea re the text!
Coolhand Luke - hey everyone is there any room for a four year vet
NICOLE -
teachcrys - i teach tap and that's what got me liking younger kids better, i was secondary and i changed my mind
Jamie - anybody teach art???
wizzlewolf - Sure, it has lesson search engines for every subject. It could keep you busy for hours...One stop shopping
wizzlewolf - I do
teachcrys - i was supposed to graduate in may but i changed my mind in december so now i have another year
wizzlewolf - Teach art and EVERYTHING else
Jamie - wizzlewolf you teach art? cool
Stanley - Jamie, there's an art T named Curt who frequently posts on T.Net's SubBoard.
wizzlewolf - Yep, for a loooooooong time
bobby - wizzle, you are joking?
Jamie - i'm going to be teaching art in high school
wizzlewolf - No, I am not joking. I am an artist and art educator.
Suzan - well goodnite everyone take care
bobby - but you said art and everything else
bobby - too broad
wizzlewolf - I teach K-12 severely emotionally disturbed (The whole school is special ed)
Stanley - tchcrys, I think you will feel *MUCH* better about your Ed classes once you've subbed for even a LITTLE while...
Jamie - wow
bobby - very challenging, ha?
teachcrys - thanks
Jamie - very admirable
wizzlewolf - I teach SED kids and teach art which integrates every subject.
Jamie - that's really wonderful
Coolhand Luke - maybe Im a bit biased but teaching art in HS would have to be a whole lot easier to do than teach regular ed classes.. Most kids pursuing art in HS school want to be in that class as opposed to things that are required
bobby - how do you feel, wizzle?
wizzlewolf - No, it isn't really challenging. I am hyper too. I am suited for it.
Jamie -
wizzlewolf - So we have three art teachers in here?
Jamie - not true luke
Stanley - wizzle, my kudos on teaching SED! For how long have you done so?
teachcrys - that's good because i think you have to be a kid at heart to teach kids
Jamie - my school requires students to take 2 years of art
Jamie - actually a small percentage actually pursue art the full 4 years
wizzlewolf - Well, I have been at this school for ten years. I taught all ages college fine art before that.
bobby - I agree with you, teach
bobby - to be with kids must be a kid at heart
Coolhand Luke - I have a ton of respect for SED teachers I've subbed in those enviroments and in my classroom with only one or two have placed a huge amount of stress on the enviroment in there
Jamie - i'd eventually like to teach college someday-it's a goal of mine
wizzlewolf - Oh, I don't teach any kids who will be "artists" (or at least very few). That is why I teach everything else.
bobby - I also respect SED teachers much
wizzlewolf - Cool, yep. It is nonstop "excitement"!
Coolhand Luke - wizz I toteach everyhting elementary teachers have to a jack of trades lol
Stanley - wizzle, so WHY do you think so many credentialed SPED Ts leave the field? [I often say there's NO shortage of SPED credentials -- just of those Ts who still want to TEACH it! ]
Jamie - shoot... i gotta go
Jamie - bye all
wizzlewolf - Art teachers: here is my teacher portfolio. It is for my work with SED kids, but maybe you can get something out of it. Bookmark it and take some time to look through it. Here is the URL:
Stanley - Jamie, Take care!
Coolhand Luke - I heard somewhere that the average burnout rate on Ed teachers is 3 yrs.
bobby - did they leave for a better pay? Stanley
bobby - Jamie, bye
wizzlewolf - http://www.wizzlewolf.com/ep.html
Stanley - bobby, here is SoCA, at least, there is **NO** supplemental pay for anything other than [occasionally] bilingual. So, pay is **NOT** the issue...
wizzlewolf - Stanley, you are very right. I know of many special ed certified teachers who want out. It is too much stress and a lot of work.
Coolhand Luke - oh well Im a third wheel in here see ya
bobby - I can imagine the stress of SED teachers
Stanley - wizzle, since I'm artistically dysfunctional, I WILL be checking out your site!
teachcrys - why do teachers burn out
wizzlewolf - I am also certified in Emotional / Behavior Disorders (just in case they ditch art). I hope I NEVER have to use it. The only reason I survive in Spec. Ed. is because I am an artist and teach art.
teachcrys - i think if you love something so much you won't get tired of it
wizzlewolf - Stanley, you should of had me for a teacher!!! LOL
Stanley - wizzle, stress from what: Excessive paperwork???
bobby - yes, you are right, teach
wizzlewolf - Teach, wait until you have taught ten or fifteen years. You can love something so much you get very burnt out. I see wonderful teachers who just fizzle.
teachcrys - i don't think i will
teachcrys - i love children to much
teachcrys - my fianc doesn't want kids, but i have to have kids
Stanley - wizzle, I do what "art" I attempt IDEALLY on the 'puter -- so I don't have to start ALL over again because of lousy layout...
Carly - Hi all!
wizzlewolf - Zillions of things Stanley, paperwork, student difficulties, federal/state mandates, parental pressure, people misunderstanding student disabilities, etc..... stress, stress, stress and more stress
teachcrys - i don't care how long i teach i will never burn out, it's almost like giving up
bobby - I haven't done any job for about 10 years.
teachcrys - teachers don't give up
Stanley - Greetings to all who just arrived! Jump right in!
wizzlewolf - Well teach, I hope you are right. Write me an email in ten or fifteen years.
bobby - but sometimes Give up means a good turning point
TDM - So if teachers burn out what do you guys think is the answer to staying on fire but not burned out?
teachcrys - i read this quote this morning "as teachers we must teach our world...the children"
bobby - pay?
bobby - for TDM
teachcrys - i think that you have to try different things, teachers get burned out from doing the same thing
Carly - I use summer to recharge my batteries...no burnout
teachcrys - don't think pay has anything to do with it
bobby - if the pay is higher, maybe they will stay longer
wizzlewolf - There isn't a teacher I know who doesn't love kids or started out because they love teaching, yet many teachers get burnt out. You will see it happening as you work for a few years. Watch the teachers around you, some will start to wilt over time.
Carly - You also have to try new things each year to improve, change things
teachcrys - i guess i never thought about pay keeping me as an employee, it's what i like to do so i will stay
Stanley - TDM, interesting question! tchcrys, I second wizzle... See how it goes once you're "out there" a while!
wizzlewolf - Carly, I HEAR YOU!!!
TDM - pay raises YES but what can teachers do to change the same ole same ole?
teachcrys - i teach dance right now, and believe me it's probably harder than a classroom full of kids
bobby - keep trying new things is fantastic
wizzlewolf - I am a really great teacher and extremely innovative. I have been burnt out twice in my career. It is NOT FUN. (Yet I have always loved to teach.)
Carly - If I counted on pay raises I would have burnt out long afo
teachcrys - i teach tap of all things, but it's something that i love to do
TDM - Hi Edward!
bobby - people in other careers must feel the same as burned out teachers
Edward - Hey All!
teachcrys - when you say burned out, what is going on in your head
wizzlewolf - Bobby, yes burn out is burn out regardless of occupation.
Stanley - tchcrys, pay certainly CAN be significant. E.g., rather than Sub @ about 25K/yr, I anticipate relocating in order to earn 53K/yr with my own classroom.
TDM - I will be trying a different approach
Carly - Though, I admit, I get "tired" or "Fed up" from time to time, but it passes
teachcrys - wizzle what goes through your head when you burn out
wizzlewolf - The main thing for me is I just can't keep doing this every day every day every day every day.....You will understand after a few years.
Carly - Where the H are you teaching Stanley? lol
TDM - I am English Secondary- what is everyone else?
Stanley - wizzle, **I RESPECT YOUR CANDOR** re burnout. In your case, what might you have done differently in order to prevent it?
davido007 - que tal?
teachcrys - student
bobby - this is life. challenging loving people move before being burned out
wizzlewolf - Carly, yes, you just have to let it run its course. You get better and more optomistic eventually.
davido007 - i tough for a year and a half
davido007 - tought i mean
TDM - bobby what do you teach?
wizzlewolf - Stanley, my main problem is taking on too much all the time. I had to learn to pace myself and not to want to BE EVERYTHING TO EVERYBODY.
Carly - You can also change grades/schools like I did to avoid burnout, as the song goes " a change will do you good"
wizzlewolf - Anybody in Florida?
bobby - did anybody have experience in teaching online?
Stanley - TDM, I'm elementary with an English [i.e. Middle School] supplemental. I'm currently taking coursework to tack GATE "certification" onto that.
TDM - TEXAS
Edward - Opposite end-California
Edward - Bobby-I'm starting with online right now
Carly - Pacing yourself is good, wizzle, quality instead of quantity
bobby - you teach English, ed?
Stanley - wizzle, I'm afraind YOUR problem might also be mine, though @ age 55 perhaps I've "outgrown" the tendency?!?
Edward - No, I teach computer courses at community college level
TDM - I did a LIT UNIT online for the novel "Black like Me"
Stanley - Edward, what part of CA? I'm in the FAR south.
bobby - are you writing your own online course?
TDM - I will be for the INTEL program this year
Edward - I'm in a small rural area, Sonora, in the central foothills
Edward - I teach at Columbia College
Edward - Bobby-I'm currently developing a hybrid course with WebCT
bobby - TDM, you don't teach online now?
bobby - Ed, you teach both online and off?
wizzlewolf - Stanley, I have always had an overachiever problem. I keep going and going like the Energizer Bunny. However, eventually I drop. I think I am growing out of it too.
TDM - not right now.
Edward - Wizzle & Stanley-there is just so much that needs to get done-it's hard not to just step up and do it
Carly - Wizzle, the best thing I learned/got reinforced this summer at a class I took is "slow down"
Stanley - wizzle, 6 mos or so ago I took an EXCELLENT course in time organization for Ts.
teachcrys - well thank you for all the insightful information i have learned tonight and i thank you very much, but i have to go
bobby - bye. teach
TDM - bye teachcrys
teachcrys - bye
Edward - Night!
wizzlewolf - Edward. Yes that is true, but not when you are already doing ten different things!
teachcrys - wizzle i will be checking out your website in the morning thank you
wizzlewolf - Sure, Enjoy!
TDM - how many of you teach with very negative teachers?
Carly - I like to delegate a lot of things too.......in my humble opinion,
Edward - Before I was teaching I could delegate more but now there is no one to delegate to!
Stanley - Edward, I don't I'll **EVER** be able to say "no" to certain situations. However, the class I mentioned DID make me ponder a lot of things.
Carly - jinx, edward!
Edward - The majority of my co-workers are very enthusiastic
wizzlewolf - time organization is my specialty. People don't understand how I do so much.
Edward - Carla-you got me!
bobby - at my undergraduate university, computer science teachers were also very enthusiastic
TDM - good to know Edward- takes a while to find a good set of co-workers and principal
Carly - I taught with a few negative teachers.they're not teaching any more
Edward - Sometimes it's our enthusiasm that gets us into too many projects at once
bobby - negative teachers should be out
wizzlewolf - There will always be some negative and some positive teachers. Teaching is a microcosm of society. Teachers are a little bit of everything. Good, Bad, and Ugly!
Carly - Complainers really should leave, I didn't want to eat lunch in the teacher's lounge on some days!
TDM - TX has a bad shortage - so we get all kinds of negativity
wizzlewolf - Edward, exactly!
Stanley - I'll often vent about kids, though I **NEVER** "write them off!"
TDM - Carly I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Carly - Sure, we all need to vent
Edward - I am struggling a bit to get faculty to be positive about online content for their classes
TDM - Join the CLUB ED!
bobby - Ed, ask them to take an online course
Carly - I was a cotrainer when my coworkers needed to learn how to use the new computerized grading program...talk about reluctant learners! lol
Edward - TDM or others-what type of training is your faculty being given to help them with using technology?
Edward - bobby-Absolutely-usually one of the quickest ways to shut them up or convert them!
TDM - INTEL is starting a pilot program for us but nothing else really.
wizzlewolf - Ed, we have great technology training programs. Some teachers just don't want to dive in.
Stanley - Carly, I know certain T.Net posters who say it is UNPROFESSIONAL for Ts to vent in staff lounges. However, for ME it's part of being able to "let it go" -- i.e., to be able to LAUGH @ what I'm feeling.
bobby - Ed, I have an idea for you. try to put technology training for faculty online to make them experience online learning
Edward - bobby-certainly worth a try
Carly - Absolutely, Stanley, we need to like you say let it go with other adults who understand
bobby - teachers are the same as other human beings. I agree with Stanley
Edward - Stanley-we have such a small campus with many students doing work experience within staff areas, we have to be especially careful not to be overheard venting about a student
Stanley - Ed, prior to my T.Ed courses I **SWORE** I'd never use a 'puter! [ROTFLMAO, huh?] So, I've **GREAT** empathy for "older" techno-phobes!
Carly - Idea: Go to the local pub to vent, lol, but don't be seen
Edward - Stanley-help me out with ROTFLMAO?
bobby - my experience in online learning certainly gave me a lift in computer literacy
TDM - Venting has a time and place - but I have seen way too many teachers do it in front of students
wizzlewolf - Hey Stanley, at our school it is many of the YOUNGER teachers who don't jump into technology. Some of our best techies are over forty.
Edward - I think some faculty may be worried that their students have better computer literacy than they do
Stanley - Edward, I **TOTALLY** agree about keeping things from the Ss. Moreover, if a slip up SHOULD occur, one must deal with it honestly...
Edward - As a computer instructor, I accepted that fact a long time ago and just use my students' knowledge to help the whole class
Carly - At my school I KNOW that the kids are more tech advanced than the faculty
bobby - Ed, that's the truth. to be teachers doen't necessarily mean to be superior to students in every way
TDM - Mine too Carly.
Stanley - wizzle, younger techo-phobes? Really???
Stanley - wizzle, younger techo-phobes? Really???
Carly - I agree with you Bobby and Edward, we don't know it all, the kids feel great in helping you
Carly - We've got younger and older techno phobes, we got it all!!
wizzlewolf - I am just saying that the average age of our technology committee is mid forties!
Stanley - Edward, ROTFLMAO = Rolling on the floor laughing my _ss off!
bobby - yes, we should make kids understand teachers are not always higher than them. and its nothign shameful for the teachers. This is learning: admit ignorance, then improve yourself
kd - anyone in here middle school?
bobby - age is not so important. an open mind counts most here.
TDM - YES
kd - teacher that is
Carly - I admit when I'm ignorant, lol, sounds great, eh?
kd - what do u teach tdm
TDM - English
bobby - hi, Kd
kd - hi bobby
Carly - My name is Carly and I am an ignoramus, lmao!
wizzlewolf - middle school is my favorite!
Stanley - bobby, I **enjoy** the opportunity to "laugh" @ myself by letting the kids in on my gaffs!
kd - when i tell people i teach 8th grade they feel really sorry for me
Carly - Middle school here too, tha's why I have the sense of humor of an 11 year old
Edward - Stanley-thanks for the translation-guess I need to get into more chat rooms to get all these acromnyms
TDM - Why kd?
bobby - as a child, I always thought teachers should be able to answer all the questions from students t olive up the name" teacher"
Edward - kd-I think 8th grade is one of the very hardest
kd - why edward?
Carly - KD, imho, (in my humble opinion), 8th is the hardest (it was for me at least)
bobby - anything to do with physical maturity of 8th?
Edward - old enough for hormones running rampant, not old enough to need to be serious about grades for college
Stanley - Originally my humor was MUCH more attuned to the older kids. Hopefully, however, I've not lost THAT, while getting a FAR better feel for the wee ones!
wizzlewolf - I have found that each year I teach, my favorite age group changes over time
Carly - Well, everyone, it was nice chatting, I'm going into the other room to act foolish.
kd - i have to run 2 bye
Stanley - wizzle, re "Time Management," sometime you might want to check out http://www.writetimepub.com
bobby - wizzle, your experience very interesting
wizzlewolf - Me too, bye all, nice chatting!!!!!
Edward - Well, I guess I'm off to eat dinner-thanks everyone!
TDM - gotta get some shut eye too - its been real!
Stanley - The previous URL is the site of Dr. Scott Purdy, the former Principal/Supt. who gave the Time Management for Ts course that I took.
Stanley - Adios, all who are leaving. [Soon I too must depart for course work that is due Sat... sigh... ]
Stanley - Purdy's books, "Time Management for Ts" & "Tomorrow Begins at 3:00" have LOTS of neat, time saving tips/info.
Stanley - Going, going...
Stanley - ((( poof... )))
