    I disagree. Social Security is an insurance program, not an
    investment. It was designed as a safety net for those in need,
    not for those with a nice pension. Also it is obvious in this
    thread that the writers are not aware that those in private
    industries have their pensions reduced because they receive
    Social Security. Of course, pensions are few and far between in
    the private sector nowadays, so be thankful for STRS.
