AM telephone party lines no baby seats in cars nap rugs for kindergarten smoking in all offices,airplanes and hospital rooms TV Stero combo which was a piece of furniture 78, 33, 45rpm records Reel to Reel players bomb drills in school no choice in phone service waiting all day for phone to be installed when you moved in women could not get credit car...See More

A bit more recent No cell phones Carrying coins for the pay phone A stack of maps in the car Thick phone books with white pages (they probably wonder why my city's current one is printed entirely on yellow paper) Pagers Dial-up internet that tied up the phone Computer monitors with green text and no graphics Dot-matrix continuous-feed printer paper Floppy disks Post...See MoreNo cell phones Carrying coins for the pay phone A stack of maps in the car Thick phone books with white pages (they probably wonder why my city's current one is printed entirely on yellow paper) Pagers Dial-up internet that tied up the phone Computer monitors with green text and no graphics Dot-matrix continuous-feed printer paper Floppy disks Postage stamps that have prices printed on them Stamps that have to be licked Hand-written, snail-mail letters "Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery" Computer lab days where we played Carmen San Diego + Oregon Trail and learned how to reformat a floppy (a frightening noisy process) Typewriters Rotary phones attached to the wall No answering machines or caller ID No way to record what was on tv and having to watch a show when it was actually on No way to skip through commercials Video tapes and audio cassettes Video rental stores Cars without air conditioning in 100 degree summers Houses without air conditioning in 100 degree summers Car windows you crank to roll down Gas station attendants Public ash trays everywhere "Smoking or nonsmoking?" when you go to a restaurant Power outages every time there was a storm (we also lost phone service whenever it rained) No microwaves or frozen dinners
