"Teacher, teacher, it's not fair.
I have written down to there.
So has Johnny; so has Sue.
Why do I have more to do?
Get their papers;
let's compare.
That's not equal!
That's not fair!"
So begins the title poem--one of dozens about issues in
schools. Other poems include:
"Skip the Question"
"Just Who Is Failing Whom Here"
"In the Main-Stream I was Drowning"
"Turning Our Schools Upside Down"
"From Your Model New Employee"
"And Then There's Lowly Elementary"
These poems are samples written by a teacher trying to keep
education in line. Mike left college teaching for a fifth
grade classroom in order to have a more direct impact on the
education of children. Little did he suspect he would so
often find schools getting in the way of education.
Teacher, Teacher, It's Not Fair uses humor, sarcasm, logic,
and criticism to portray the battles that can only be seen
from within the trenches.
