Coastwalk California
Posted by Marin/Sonoma/Humboldt Counties on 5/05/09
For 25 years, Coastwalk volunteers have lead guided summer hiking and camping adventures along the California Coast as part of its advocacy for coastal access and environmental protection. The hikes are fun, moderately priced, and provide an opportunity to see parts of California that only "locals" know. This year for the first time, three of the trips are certified by Sonoma State University for K-12 Continuing Education Units. On a typical Coastwalk, you carry only a daypack, and your gear is shuttled from campsite to campsite, and scrumptious dinners are provided by the volunteers. The different walks also include hostel-based hikes, true backpacks (including the fabulous "Lost Coast"), and family outings that are less strenuous. Visit www.coastwalk.org for the full schedule and to register online.
