The RSA/Cambridge Diploma is a professional qualification
considered to be at post-graduate level and is one of the
most sought after and prestigious qualifications respected
internationally. It is recognised by all British
Universities and is fast becoming a prerequisite for some
of the most interesting jobs in our field all over the
world..
The course is ideal for experienced and qualified teachers
wishing to enhance their career opportunities as Senior
Teachers, ESP Instructors, Level Coordinators or Directors
of Studies. The Diploma provides an excellent bridge for
those who wish to pursue further academic qualifications
related to TEFL at Masters level.
Course Content:
The course offers excellent grounding in the Theory and
Practice of English Language Teaching with sessions on the
Psychology of Language Learning, Second Language
Acquisition, Course and Syllabus Design, Test Design, and
Teaching Approaches. All the basic areas of a core
methodology course are covered including work on
specialist areas such as Using Literary Texts, teaching
ESP groups, Computer Assisted Language Learning and many
more. In addition, the course provides a solid foundation
on all the language systems, including Grammar, Phonology,
Discourse and Semantics.
Course Structure:
There are two options currently offered at CELT.

The above options do not include Christmas, Easter
holidays and summer breaks.
To Apply:
According to the Cambridge guidelines
"A candidate will normally:
have a minimum of two years full-time (1,200 hours)
teaching experience of ELT to adults within the past five
years
have a range of teaching experience involving work in
different teaching contexts and experience of teaching
learners at different levels.
Candidates will normally be graduates or have undertaken a
formal course of training in ELT to adults. It is the
responsibility of individual centres to ensure that all
candidates have an appropriate awareness of language and
language competence in English which will enable them to
follow the course and complete all the assessed elements
successfully."
