Enhance Your Curriculum in Colonial America & the Revolution
Posted by Fraunces Tavern Museum on 8/15/07
Visiting Fraunces Tavern, Manhattan's oldest building, is
an experience in which students see where history was
literally made when General George Washington emotionally
said farewell to his officers at the end of the American
Revolution. Our educational program promotes critical
thinking and encourages the awareness of different
perspectives. Students participate hands-on activities so
they can experience and express what it would be like to
live in Colonial New York during the American Revolution.
We have had an extremely successful educational program
since our accreditation in 1979 and are always looking to
serve more schools and their students in the New York City
area.
Our program, corresponding activities, and pre-visit
materials adhere to New York State Learning Standards in
Social Studies and English Language Arts. Recommended for
grades 4 & up.
