Posted by R. Bettis/NC on 9/18/08

This 37 page thematic unit consists of lesson plans and 17
reproducible activities and worksheets aimed at making the
presidential election process relevant to elementary aged
children. Students will gain an understanding of the
duties, qualifications, and election process of the office
of the President of the United States. During the course
of the unit, students will also nominate, research issues
related to, and vote for a class mascot. The unit will
culminate in an election (on Election Day) and a field
trip to create (or online ordering of) the class mascot
from Build-A-Bear. Along the way, students will
demonstrate an understanding of key concepts and
vocabulary related to the executive branch of the
government, and how we elect our president. Includes 17
ready-to-use worksheets and reproducible activities. 37
