TEACHER CREATED MATERIALS: Spelling scheme

Developed by experienced Montessori teacher and
administrator with more than 40 years experience, the
Spelling Scheme provides a sound-based approach to learning
how to spell in the English language. Organized around the
alphabet and special sounds not symbolized in the alphabet,
the Spelling Scheme encourages a student-centered approach
to spelling. Students focus on words they have difficulty
spelling, rather than memorizing lists of words. Students
create and build their own spelling dictionaries. The
Spelling Scheme is appropriate for elementary students,
students with learning difficulties, and people who are
learning English as a 2nd language.
