ABUSES of POWER in EDUCATION
Posted by AMAZON books on 6/29/09

In "ABUSES of POWER in EDUCATION: Challenging Practically
Everything" Dr.Rose challenges many of the cherished
beliefs of education that haven't been and aren't working.
He claims that we often ask the wrong questions or have the
wrong beliefs and so we keep repeating the same
unsuccessful behavior. Isn't doing the same thing over and
over when it doesn't work, a definition of stupidity? He
states that everyone in education - students, parents,
teachers, administrators, school boards, state and federal
education departments - tends to misuse or abuse power. By
recognizing how and why each does abuse power, you will have
    the tools to change lives.

At the same time you will understand that only through
balance of power and justice based compromises can everyone
get sufficient legal power to do his job. He doesn't
expose, he offers suggestions that are doable and make
teaching and learning so satisfying that teachers won't
want to quit and students leave physically, mentally, and
    emotionally.

He doesn't offer simple solutions, you get enough of them
in your in- services. He gives you paths, but trusts you
can also make your own through the forest.
