My classroom
JAM

This was taken from the door to the hall.

I've got 24 kiddos (13 fourth, 11 fifth), and I'm in WA. As far as plans for the combo... reading and writing will be together (so easy to differentiate in the workshop style) and we are departmentalizing for social studies and science so my fifth graders will go to other rooms and I'll have just fourth grade.

Math... that is what is keeping me up at night. I'll be doing a LOT of pre-assessment I think, and teaching what needs to be taught instead of sticking with the math book/standards. What else can I do? I shudder at the thought of 'teach one group while the other works quietly' model. I may end up there, but I'd like to avoid being two people at once. LOL!

shaking in her boots and hoping parents don't notice.

Here is the front of my room from the door. My class is a 4/5 split this year.

This one shows the middle of the room. My desk is in the back. The bulletin boards on the far wall are for reading.

Here is part of my classroom library and my math word wall bulletin board.

Here is a close up of the reading bulletin board.

Finally, behind my door to the hall, I made 'Australia' with an area rug and bean bags. I put up a pull shade to hide all the crud on my bookshelves. I also have a little fridge there with the lamp on it. :)

Thanks for viewing!
JAM
