Post: Amusing Abacus
Posted by Donna/WI on 4/06/08
I enjoyed this article very much. Of all the subjects we teach, math is the hardest for children to grasp. Along Dr. Guruprasad's same vein, I watched the videos on the Math-U-See website where the author of the series demonstrates the use of visuals to demonstrate the concepts spoken of in this article. While I haven't a clue about the series itself, I was fascinated with the videos because I really don't "get" manipulatives. These videos demonstrated how to use them to make the concepts of place value and basic operations understandable and recommend watching them as an extension to this article.
