Post: Of course be really careful when you choose an activity

Posted by Zhel on 8/03/08

One of my friends holds workshops for kids and she often
has a completely new group of kids so "Getting to Know
Each Other Activities" are necessary in her case (although
I think she spends too much time on it).

Last two times when I was present she used the 7th method
(Friendly Fred, Sincerely Sam etc) and it came to the
point when there were so many children whose first name
began with J and T that they ran out of adjectives
beginning with these letters. (There were 6 girls named
Tamara in the group, for example, and several others with
T-names; same with J). So if you have a class list, check
it beforehand so you don't fall into this trap. We spent
additional several minutes thinking about the adjectives
on J and T (and we were standing in a field, supposed to
start a field trip not a literacy workshop).

Along the same lines, it is very difficult to think about
an adjective you will choose for yourself and at the same
time pay attention to other persons' adjectives. Plus, if
you are the sixth Tamara in the group, your namesakes have
probably already exhausted your three choices you could
    think of.
