I would agree that the ability to be a 'Great Teacher' may
well not carry over from school to school. A 'Great
Teacher' for one school may fall flat on their face in the
next school. Each school is different and the students in
it equally so.
However, I would disagree that there is no such thing then
as 'The Great Teacher'. Though it may well be limited to
the individual school, we all know that in fact there
are 'Great Teachers'. Think back. Everybody can recall a
teacher of theirs who was a Great Teacher. They come
quickly to mind.
In fact, even within the same class one student may find
the teacher Great and the next student doesn't. Safely
said, no teacher is the right teacher for every school or -
for every student. Yet that said, we all remember
teachers who were Great for us.
I suppose when the number of students who deem a teacher
Great comes close to consensus, then what we have is a
truly Great Teacher whose methods, manner, practices and
policies worked for their students in a Great way. And
many of us remember such a teacher - the teacher that
every student in the school hoped to have. We can argue
against the existence of the Great Teacher but most of us
happily remember having one.
