Post: Father's Day Activity
Posted by Tess on 6/05/09
Since we are not in school for Father's Day, my class always celebrates our dads in January around Martin Luther King Day. I desperately searched for something intriguing to involve the dads. Since it was January we were studying snow. I found this Insta-snow product (http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/product/instant-snow). You just add water and it puffs up to feel almost like real snow - but it is an awesome tactile experience when you make it in your hands! I make certain that the kids have plenty of experience with it before our Father's Day. Then the kids make the snow in their dad's hands. HUGE WOW FACTOR. Now the KIDS own the experiment and THEY are the rock stars! You hear the children saying things like "It's a polymer, Dad!" Especially when you find that half the dads are in your sand table up to their armpits in Insta-Snow, refusing to go home while the other half are experimentally mixing the Insta-Snow powder with every liquid in the classroom and charting the results. This activity yields boundless excitement, learning and a memorable family experience.

I loved it, 12/30/09, by bad credit loans.
