not have much time to be in the lounge. I had a principal my second year who told ALL teachers to get their snack and then get back to their rooms. Some teachers would spend their whole prep time in there - and that can't be good. So for the first two years I avoided the lounge. I still prefer to eat at the teacher table in the cafeteria. I can tune out the noise of "ALL" the kids better than tuning out the negatives in the lounge. And I don't cook, or like to prepare meals in advance, so I like to pay for lunch in the cafeteria. There are teachers in there, too. On my prep hour I'm working in my room. I don't avoid the lounge, but I don't hang out in there, either. I do agree that the best ideas come from other teachers!
