Post: What Writing Isn't
Posted by Carol Gorman on 3/09/08
I agree-writing should emphaze creativity or clarity of thought not just spelling and correct punctuation. Those are only tools to help make meaning clearer to the reader. I have my students write in journals every day. Some are experimenting trying different approaches. Others write the same sentences day after day. Have to admit it is part of our morning routine (more of a management tool) than a real writing opportunity. I don't grade on conventions just on participation.
