Post: How to motivate the least motivated students
Posted by Suzanne Jones on 5/30/08
I am finding that I am the most frustrated with students who have no or little motivation to be successful in school or meet basic expectations. I teach second grade and many of my students are very motivated, sometimes to the point of being overly competative. But I have the most difficult time finding ways to ignite that fire to learn and feel good about being successful in some of my underachieving students. These students are capable and have all the tools they need to be successful. I love my students who are underachievers and maybe not as capable but work so hard and just light up when "they get it" or finish all of their work - they are so proud! What do I do to create that same fire and drive in my low motivational kids?
