I liked the descriptions of the author's two favorite
teachers. I'm glad that he had good experiences, but I'm
disappointed that he needed to insult all the other
teachers he had in twelve years of education.

There is a belief, fueled by movies and articles like this
one, that most teachers are ineffective, save for a few
eccentric, larger-than-life characters. I beg to differ.
Teachers' main role is to teach academic subjects, not
impart life lessons, change world views or solve students'
romantic problems. It's great if they personally move a
student or change his life, but not every teacher will
have that effect on every student. That doesn't make them
incompetent,if the students learned what they were
supposed to.

Despite my criticisms of the article's content, I have
only praise for its style. Clearly, the author has writing
talent, and is very good with grammar and punctuation.
It's a shame he can't remember the names of the English
teachers who taught him this.
