A Fresh Look at
Brain-Based Education

More than 20 years since it was first suggested that there could be connections between brain function and educational practice, and in the face of all the evidence that has now accumulated to support this notion, BBE guru Eric Jensen urges educators to take full advantage of the relevant knowledge from a variety of scientific disciplines.

Post: EMA's year in Vegas

Posted by Sister Golden Hair on 10/29/08

Oh yeah, I remember my advice. I almost got run off the
board. I simply put myself in your place. Here you were,
a highly qualified teacher, working with middle
schoolers. You were just placed in that classroom without
the school following any rules about class size, you were
given no mentor or assistance, and you were left to teach
without the needed materials or any curriculum. This
    happens far too often.

As the year progressed, you had an ugly incident with a
student with mental illness issues. Then you had no
backing from the administration. I am so glad you left
that school. It was probably horrible for your family
life, but you learned a lot. No job should drain you like
that job. Teachers and students should not be enemies.
And teachers need support as they try to walk daily over
the land mines that occur each day in a classroom. I was
happy to help and in the process, I made a dear friend.
So you see, I have a candle too. How long has it been?
Nearly ten years of communicating about our sons, our
families, our looks, our silly jokes? And now EMA, you
have come to my rescue as I fight something bigger than a
classroom. You inspire me and you also can make my smiles
last for days even when I am scared to death of what the
next months hold. So you see, EMA, you have payed it
forward. I think many of us do on Teacher's Net and that
is the beauty of this place. Thank you.

    Cheryl (Sister Golden Hair)
