Dallas-based nonprofit teacher training organization launches annual teacher and teacher trainer award programs.

National teacher training organization Laying the Foundation (LTF) is launching its first Teacher of the Year and Trainer of the Year Award programs. These programs offer an opportunityfor teachers and LTF trainers to be recognized and rewarded for their commitment to building academic excellence, successfully representing Laying the Foundation’s programs, and helping to elevate the teaching profession in general.

The purpose of the LTF Teacher of the Year Award program is to highlight those exceptional professional educators who are consistently implementing what they have learned in LTF Training into their classrooms and are thereby empowering students for college and career readiness. Candidates who have participated in at least two levels of LTF Training in English, mathematics, or science and who
currently teach in a public or private school are eligible.

The LTF Trainer of the Year Award program is designed to recognize particularly outstanding LTF trainers who have embraced the LTF philosophy of instruction and are able to model it with teachers in their sessions, supporting and empowering them to become more effective in their own classrooms. Eligible candidates are fully endorsed as LTF trainers in their respective disciplines and possess a proven record of success in multiple trainings.

Teachers and trainers may be nominated by professional colleagues or may nominate themselves. For both awards, the top candidates in each discipline—English, mathematics, and science—will be honored at an announcement ceremony in mid-May and will receive $2,000 and a plaque.

For more information or to apply for the 2012 LTF Teacher of the Year and LTF Trainer of the Year Awards, please visit www.ltftraining.org.

The deadline for applications is February 15, 2012.
