Envelopes: Use the "junk mail" envelopes that come in the mail for free. Ask parents and grandparents to save these for your class.

Mailbox: Have children paint a cardboard box blue.

*Stamps: Use canceled stamps or the free stickers that charities often send (again, ask for donations from parents and grandparents). If those are not available, have children make their own stamps. Draw grid lines on a sheet of paper, photocopy several sheets, and have children draw pictures in the squares and cut them apart. Or, collect “abstract” paintings from the art center (the ones no one claims as their own) and cut them into squares for stamps. Keep some glue sticks and scissors available in the center.

Make a label for the mail box and cut a slot in the side for the mail.

Mail Slots: Use the children's cubbies or shoe pockets or a shoe shelf labeled with children's names. Or, make mini mailboxes with empty tissue boxes.
