The Busy Educator’s Monthly Five

By Marjan Glavac

The Busy Educator

Each month Marjan Glavac, professional speaker, teacher and co-author of “How To Thrive And Survive In Your Classroom”, presents The Busy Educator’s Monthly Five — five websites for educators that are easy to read, simple to use and worthwhile to know.

FACULTYSHACK (TEACHERS)
http://www.facultyshack.org/
Here’s a non-commercial educational e-journal started in 2001 and
supported entirely by teachers. This online magazine combines thoughtful ideas about education with humor and an understanding of reality, and all without jargon or the supposition that the writers have every answer to every question.

PAULY’S PLAYHOUSE (GR. PRE-K- 4)
http://www.paulysplayhouse.com
Pauly’s Playhouse features online interactive fun and whacky games and activities for children ages 3 to 9.

TEACHERTOOLS (TEACHERS)
http://www.teachertools.org/index.html
Among the many offerings at Teachertools, I really recommend the Forms
and Letters sections. There are dozens of forms and letters here that any
teacher can use to save time. Grouped into four sections, discipline, academic, communication and other, these tools will certainly get you organized for the next school year!

CERTIFICATES FOR TEACHERS (TEACHERS)
http://www.certificates4teachers.com/
Great links here to award sites, award generators and individual certificates which cover almost every area of teaching. Search out the best ones for your own classroom, put them into a special file and you’ll be all set to hand them out to deserving students.

THE CENTER FOR HEALTH AND HEALTH CARE IN SCHOOLS
(PARENTS, TEACHERS K-12)
http://www.healthinschools.org/
The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) explores
ways to strengthen the well being of children and youth through effective
health programs and health care services in schools. CHHCS is a nonpartisan
policy and program resource center located at The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. Core support is provided by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation..
