“I can zip my coat” Chart
By Teachers.Net Community
Here’s a simple but motivating “chart” a Kindergarten teacher uses to encourage and keep track of students as they learn to zip their coats, in addition to providing practice with writing their names.
The “coat/jacket” is formed from construction paper, laminated, and “pocket” attached with slips of paper stored inside.
As a student is able to demonstrate the ability to zip his or her coat, the child writes his or her name on one of the slips of paper and it is taped onto the chart. The teacher may add the date of the milestone, or if there is room on the paper, students could copy the date from the classroom calendar.
