Teacher-Hobbyist: Musician ron/nj

By Teachers.Net Community

This month the Hobby Spotlight is on ron/nj – soon to be retired industrial arts teacher and musician. Put your hands together to welcome our own Man of Steel!

“I’ve played the lap steel guitar off and on since the late 1960′s. I play with a loosely organized band mostly just for fun.

“The music I enjoy the most is blues, covers and country. I try and do at least one open mic a month and volunteer my playing for seniors, veterans, school, and the like.

“I’m always asked to play Sleepwalk which features the steel guitar. Among my musical peers, I’m known as the Man of Steel. The picture below is us playing at a Knights of Columbus party.” (Click on photo to enlarge.)

“This is my 39th year as an industrial arts teacher. I’ve taught many different areas over the years and presently teach Home Improvements. I will be hanging up my tool belt this June!!!!”

Ten Year Summary of Articles, 2000 to 2010
During my 1st and 2nd year, I was completely clueless and going insane! I was SURE teaching was not for me and I was surviving aimlessly and hopelessly. I didn't know how to put my teaching problems into words as I did not know what was wrong. Then I found your articles on teachers.net and your book. And you said "steal!"
