Re: Gallup Teacher Insight Interview
Posted by TJ on 8/01/08

My husband took a Gallup test as part of the interview process for a job
(outside of teaching). He happened to see his test results and was
    shocked.

One thing that he has been known for at previous jobs is being the guy you
can go to whatever you need, because he is really dependable. He won't
make a fuss and will work until he solves the problem -- and his own work
is nearly always impeccable. He is knowledgeable, as a lot of people are,
but he really has that extra edge. Well, his Gallup test came back with so-
so scores, and he was low in the "dependable" category. Luckily, his
former boss works at the company he was interviewing for and sought him
out for this position, so it didn't ruin his chances. And by the way, he
has once again proven himself at this company as being someone they can
    really count on.

It's not that I don't doubt these polls can give employers "insight", but
    to use them as a weed-out? I don't think that's wise.
