Post: references: not sure what to do!

Posted by Sara on 6/22/09

I worked for one year at a school as a paraeducator. At
the end of the year my contract was non-renewed, due to a
breach of confidentiality I was involved in (discussed
    some students with a parent...a big no-no!)

I left on good terms and the principal promised oral
references that would highlight the postives. She agreed
to avoid going into the reason for the non-renewal.
However, my direct supervisor (whom I had no problems
with...did a great job) is very skittish about giving me a
reference, as she was told not to lie. I am afraid she
will say too much if called, rather than try to be
diplomatic and positive, so I would like to leave her off
    my reference list.

Would it be a red flag if I use the principal and another
school-teacher as references, and not offer the
    supervisor? Thank you.
