It's not as easy to get unemployment as you think. It is easy
to "terminate" college and university adjuncts by simply not giving them
classes to teach anymore. The university will simply argue that
although you weren't given classes this term, you might be hired for a
later term. Bingo. Reasonable chance of rehire. So while your contract
will state you have no job security, for unemployment purposes the
university will claim that you do. Or, they will just say they didn't
like your teaching and don't want you back. Now you've got that on your
    record.
